The Covid pandemic was a major change for most workers as they were not necessarily attracted to salary but rather a work-life balance. The pandemic seems to have shone a light on the importance of being able to juggle family-life, exercise-life, dog-life, whatever the lifestyle, with work-life.

Somehow in India we are taught that numbers are really important (Maths) but we never divulge in giving numbers when it comes to salaries taxes etc. This mindset has to change. This is insane. I'm a nurse working in surgery with 3 years experience in a fairly average cost of living state of Nevada, USA. My base pay is over 85k dollars and easily clear 100k for the year with call. I can't imagine going through 14 years of schooling to make 88k pounds. I hope they fix this.

I know Physician assistants or Family Nurse Practioner here in USA where they work monday to friday, 8 am to 4 or 5 pm, not shift, not duty, all weekend are free and earning 150 thousands per year plus bonus.

As an accountant, I can attest to the fact that salaries represent a significant expense for hospitals. In the UK, healthcare is known for its impressive benefits. In contrast, hospitals in the US have to find ways to cover their costs, resulting in expensive insurance premiums and hospital bills. I am not implying that healthcare workers do not deserve competitive compensation; however, such expenses come at a cost, which could affect how much the public pays. In summary, the reason healthcare workers in the UK receive lower pay compared to those in the US is that UK hospitals do not overcharge their patients for profit.
It is very sad to see the treatment of physicians in the UK by the government. I am a Registered Nurse in telemetry working in California, US with 17 years experience. With a little overtime I easily clear $240,000+ per year. My coworkers in the ICU make $280,000+. We have a critical shortage of physicians in the US. You can always move to the US to get decent money for your hard work.

My work is finance related & similar salary to yours. I work about 5-10 hours extra each week for a multinational outfit but they are unpaid & we don't get time back for it. I also pay into a pension but its not as good as NHS pension. You have a clear path/structure that shows salary bands & career progression milestones. Despite your years of study/training, i think you are in a much better place than me.

But London is so so expensive😅 A family cannot servive in this amount. The expenses as a family grows 4 5 times rather than linear growth. So pay should be raised atleast to get at the same level with inflation. Last year I was here for my Plab2 and I can clearly feel the difference of inflation in one year time. OMG, as a pharmacist we make more than US$180K. How can you retain doctors in UK? Now I know why UK is not making their medical school accrediting body recognized by WFME, so they can keep their medical students in UK.
In the USA, 3rd year resident earns $64, 000 per year (every year $2, 000 increment) for working minimum 80 hours per week (80 - 100 hours). There is no compensation for over working for the residents. So it is about $15 per hour wages/salary. 10 years ago, a few residents committed suicide because of working 120 hours per week. Because of pressure, many residents quit residency and took the job at a a pharmaceutical company which does not require residency. Unlike UK, residents in America are not happy.

i have achieved plab 1 and 2, i am about to complete my registration process, but i'm in dilemma whether i should be moving into the UK or not, because my salary is around 2.200 pounds per month in the the country where i live (turkey). That's terrible pay for the amount of training, years in school, and other expenses. How much did med school cost and how long did it take you to pay off, or are you still paying/training? When does it end quite honestly? Whew, well done on sticking with it! I wouldn't be surprised if you are still in a deficit after adding up your years of salary vs your paid school/training.
This salary is very less compared with that of Kerala. My wife is a Gynac in Kerala and she is getting 5 lakh Indian rupees per month from a private hospital for 5 hours work per day for 6 days. In Government sector, salary is even more. In addition to the salary, the hospital has provided accommodation, food and pick up & drop also

Doctor your candour is heart warming. Though I live in Canada which has a similar system to the UK, practicing almost any field of medicine in the US would pay substantially more. Which is why so many people neglect their health in the US because it's expensive to utilize the healthcare system especially doctors and specialists.

Your pay is handsome for a government position and for your level of experience. I do not believe doctors in many parts of the world with a similar position given the same level of experience make as much as you do. Engineers and other professionals in many parts of the world with your level of experience get paid the same or even less in many cases. Private hospitals may pay a bit more in some countries to doctors with your level of experience, but one is overworked and can be fired at any time in private establishments. A government job is always better in some respects and has more stability. Of course, everyone always wishes they make much more money than they do. This feeling is generally universal. Hats off to you for making this video. Not many would have the guts to reveal their paycheck on TH-cam for everyone to see. Many viewers will appreciate this information. @@imfriedchicken yeah far better, but the exam fees for USMLE is much than PLAB. and PLAB is easy exam compared to USMLE. Thats why most people goes for PLAB. But if you have enough financial support, it better to go for USMLE. And once you passed the exam, you will earn a lot in USA as a doctor. Probably 70-80k per year as junior doctor

That is rubbish pay,for all the time it takes to train, that is wicked. A test train operator on LUL gets £100,000 a year. And that’s with what equates to about two years training. I think we have the lowest pay across every profession here in the U.K. compared to other developed countries. A qualified certified quantity surveyor for instance,at the top of his profession gets paid £54,000 . If they go up to management it’s £80,000 . In America for the same profession , you can expect to get £130,0000.

Hello , I never knew doctors paid that low in UK, I am in NY. After residency a family care doctor starts with about $ 150000.00. A specialist can start with about $200000.00 , that's a big difference !!
what is the purpose of your emigration ? if going back to India > uk , if for permanently settlement > Australia . much better weather and economy ! new zeland is another option for settlement .
Your hourly base rate and lucum rate and weekend hourly rates are extremely high, compared to the rest of the UK. Comparable to a senior manager/director in a bank. I get you may want more pay, but just bear in mind where you stand comparatively to the people who pay taxes to give you that pay

alot of people don t anderstand her pay . She makes roughly 69000 pounds a year in her third year of residency which is around 88000 us $. it is higher then the average salary of a resident psychiatrist in newyork which around 80000 usd .when she is done her residency she will earn much more .

One will have to go thru tge trauma of matching and the residency program for that.

The resident salary is at par/ more than in the US. The consultant salary is about 3-5 times more in the US in comparison to the UK.

I think we have the lowest pay across every profession here in the U.K. compared to other developed countries. A qualified certified quantity surveyor for instance,at the top of his profession gets paid £54,000 . If they go up to management it’s £80,000 . In America for the same profession , you can expect to get £130,0000.

If I choose PLAB pathway and make it till the end an work as FY-2 Doctor, so what’s the job safety in future like. I mean when I will do my ‘residency’. Is there any separate exam for it??

Hello , I never knew doctors paid that low in UK, I am in NY. After residency a family care doctor starts with about $ 150000.00.
A specialist can start with about $200000.00 , that's a big difference !!

what is the purpose of your emigration ? if going back to India > uk , if for permanently settlement > Australia . much better weather and economy ! new zeland is another option for settlement .

Your hourly base rate and lucum rate and weekend hourly rates are extremely high, compared to the rest of the UK. Comparable to a senior manager/director in a bank. I get you may want more pay, but just bear in mind where you stand comparatively to the people who pay taxes to give you that pay

The 40% tax for income above 50k is it 40% of everything or 20% of what you earn between 12k and 50k, then 40% of anything you earn above 50k?
The 40% tax applies only for any amount earnt over 50k

alot of people don t anderstand her pay . She makes roughly 69000 pounds a year in her third year of residency which is around 88000 us $. it is higher then the average salary of a resident psychiatrist in newyork which around 80000 usd .when she is done her residency she will earn much more .

It's not free. Most people have huge student loans. And yearly GMC fees
