Not me raving about the UK medical school system compared to the USA! I was saying how the UK timeline to become a doctors is shorter than in USA because people have to get a bachelors degree before med school (I live in america and all my friends are pre med)……
The same things were going through my mind a few days ago. Doctors are underpaid and under appreciated all over the world not just in the UK. The amount of stress we through and basically dedicated our whole lives to medicine meanwhile not being able to pay even the basic utilities. I made the mistake of pursuing medicine but i’d advise younger generation of students to go for a more stable major that does not take half of your life and wits. I’m sure it’ll pay better and you’ll be sane.
I completely respect your opinion! No job is easy so I get it's about making it manageable (eg. doing less hours and having another source of income elsewehere) if it is something you really want to pursue!!
I love how people who are doctors always complain about their profession and their salary😂😂😂. Try being a pharmacist... I did 4 years in uni and 1 year of pre reg to go through the hardest exam you can imagine which some fail 3 attempts and end up with a paper saying you just did pharmacy. Also to add I did a prescribing course which is basically another year which you do whilst working. So studying for 6 years almost for a salary less than a doctor and often less respect as people seem to think pharmacists know much less yet come to them when the gp doesn't help. I mean I still do not get why doctors complain. Yes I'm a pharmacist prescriber we don't earn as much as gp doctors and we almost do the same thing especially if you're a prescriber. Yes doctors may have more knowledge on diagnosis but may have less knowledge on medications. For example I worked with someone who didn't know which medication in the list was causing hypokalaemia
i’m so stuck with whether to do grad med after biomed or not ,, like i get bored of things quickly so can’t see myself in med sales long whereas being a doctor , every day is different an
Hi! I was thinking of studying in the UK and now I'm not so sure. Especially when it comes to rheumatologist career. I don't really mind about the studying more than for a decade part cuz on the long financial stability is what matters the most for me. That seems to be possible in the USA. What do you think about there?
I feel like the usa definitely has a better pay rate if thats what you’re looking for , i think its because people pay for hospitals in America so their healthcare system has more money

I’d love your advice, I definitely want to pursue medicine however I’ve thought of applying in the UK and US, if I do study in the UK I would not practice in the UK and would definitely take the USMLE to practice in the US. Do you think it would be smarter to just practice in the US instead?
Heyhey! I think its difficult to comment on it since I personally haven't practiced in either (still a student ahaha) so with these questions I always suggest doing research, reading around blog posts and weighing up the pros and cons to narrow down your preference
I’d say to do research since the UK is putting in measures to make sure that people who graduate as doctors won’t be eligible to study elsewhere. I forgot the technical term of the certificate

Heyhey I personally wouldn't, i'm very content I chose Medicine but i definetely will be diversifying my career in the future as it isn't sustainable full time

I’m really debating putting myself through 4 years of postgraduate medicine for all it’s worth 😢
no its not guaranteed and and the end you would be left with 80-90k debt with a pay of like 28k a year before o tax
