    Beautiful loop! I was always afraid to do water loops until I came across your videos. I just built my 3rd water loop system and it’s all thanks to your videos. I wasn’t afraid to drill or cut my case to make it work for what I wanted! Thank you for all the inspiration!

      my 1st was early 2000, softtubing was the way in those days. didn't bother with watercooling for a long time,
      and thanks to finding this channel I made a nice clear acryl tube dual radiator system in 2020,
      and I still love the way it looks ^^

    Pro tip on leak test:
    Make a soapy mix in a spray bottle and spray around the suspecting leak spots. If it bubbles up, it's leaking air. :P
    NOTE: Be careful, OBVIOUSLY.

  • @rustler08

    ZMT does not use plasticizers, because it is EPDM. Completely different from your standard soft tubing.

  • @marcossanches7921
    @marcossanches7921 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you put soapy water where you suspect there will be a leak when you pressure test the system, bubbles should start to form in that area

  • @nc7486
    @nc7486 ปีที่แล้ว

    One thing you could do to confirm that those top fittings are the point of failure for pressure testing is use putty around the edges of the fittings. That should create enough of a seal to prevent the leak and confirm your loop is good

  • @richiefswe
    @richiefswe ปีที่แล้ว

    EPDM (what EK, Alphacool, Heatkiller etc. use in their matte black tubing) doesn't have any plasticizer in it, and is used in industrial applications because it has EXCELLENT chemical resistance and good temperature resistance. The only drawback is resistance to petroleum oils, which isn't really a concern for pc cooling. And that it isn't transparent of course. It doesn't leach or react with the coolant whatsoever like PVC tubing do, so I would definitely use something like that in the bottom compartment for maintenance purposes. @16:38

    I personally like the separation in the distro plate @15:58 - This gives you the option to use 2 different colors of coolant in you build. This way you can have Green for the CPU and Blue for the GPU (or whatever) and they each have their own reservoir, they both run through the same distro plate and it gives you a cool effect of 1 color in each side.

  • @glorysynex
    @glorysynex ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The alphacool res actually has O-rings on the top. They are just recessed in the top of the res. I used the same alphacool res and when i put filled my loop with the squirt bottle i pulled the O-rings out. The just lay in there so you can just put them back in if that happens.

    Jay, if I may offer some unsolicited advice, I recommend you get a Mini-Split AC system for your gaming room (and every room in your house for that matter). I just had one installed in my room a couple months ago and it's life changing. I can have my room at 63 degrees even when it's 120+ degrees outside (I live near Palm Springs in California).
    They're more energy efficient and you can independently control the temperature of where the room where it's installed. You can keep the Central AC at a higher temperature like 80, and set the Mini-Split in your room to 65 or whatever you want.

    If the fluid has a noticeable movement effect I think it would look neat to have the distro plate go from the pump towards the middle, then down, up the back of the plate to have the fluid move to the middle as well, then down and back up the gpu. Radiators can go where they best fit when the fluid goes under the distro plate. Though it would possibly make the basement very crowded

    Honestly the crossing tubes isn't that bad looking, I think that it incorporates a sorta over-the-top computer build very well in the way that the loop has that sorta "circuit look" that you said it had which is kinda the point of skunkworks and I think that crossing the tubes helps it give the computer a more industrial look like there is a lot going on while still looking clean, really gives you something to look at. A piece of art truly.

    Quick thought on the gpu loop: you were saying you don’t want the return line from gpu to have a double bend and hug the distro plate because water won’t want to get out of there and it would catch.. but you could still flip that 90° exit from the gpu to the bottom side and run the tube across just like you have it now, just lower. Coming out from the 90° won’t position the straight part directly across the other fittings and block the drain at all, might even look a little cleaner

    I run mystic fog in my loop and i have not had any of the common issues one might have with fluids. I have noticed that it has stained and or eroded away the nickel more than i would expect for the maybe year plus ive run it. Whatever EK uses as a suspension agent seems to be rock solid.

    It looks great, really like the industrial feel. Have you considered using a laser level to check that your tubes are parallel? Using one on the lower horizontal tube and then adjusting height to meet one above would let you know if the loops are parallel or not. Tough to tell with curved bends in the line, it might help. Just a thought ...

    Jay, you kind of described one of the reasons why I get a bit annoyed by HVAC systems. These days, we tend to have a lot more heat generating items strewn throughout the house, and as a result, it isn't uncommon to have hotspots in different areas at random times. Even if you try to go the route of a multi-sensor setup (e.g., Ecobee), the problem is that unless you have an elaborate damper system, you're going to end up overcooling other areas. When I replaced my HVAC a few years back, mini-splits weren't even suggested (likely because they tend to suggest a similar replacement), but I *really* wish I would've gotten one or two multi-zone setups. Right now, I've got a window AC in my computer room because it can get stupid hot with a 4090-equipped PC and a 4070-Ti-equipped PC in there both playing games.

    My Alphacool res has those small plugs. Mine is a different model but the o-ring should be inside the port on the res. It would have like a lip on the bottom that the o-ring sits on and makes contact when you screw in the plugs. Unless, like you said, they omitted them because they're on the top... Which clearly would be bad for the purpose of leak testing.

    I'll keep saying it, captains hat looks amazing on Jay. Genuinely great halloween costume idea, looks like Nimitz's nephew lol.
    Also get one of those flat USB 3.0 ribbon extension cables for the USB 3.0s. It barely affects speeds (from what I've seen so far with my aliexpress one) in real life scenarios (unless you depend on external drives, which you still get better speeds from rear IOs or through USB-C) and it is such a QoL improvement for building neat looking PC cable management. You lose shielding on those 10-ish cm but I never really seen anyone benefiting from it myself... just worth mentioning I guess. And still, if your equipment relies on shielded connection you should still use a rear IO since the connector itself is not sheilded...

    Your eye is wack, Jay, the front line is canted down. I like how nothing overwhelms and there is still so much going on. Looking forward to seeing this fired up.
