Fantastic video! Most instructional videos don't mention the fact that people may create a different channel of air that may allow them to use one cut better than another.
I’ve been watching your videos for a while Shane. I watch a lot of different channels about turkey calling and I would have to say that was the best tutorial I’ve ever seen. No one tells you what mouth reads to use they just assume everyone can be as good as them. You really break it down for us novice guys. Thank you
I have been turkey hunting for over 41 years now. I have started here in Ohio since it’s start. I have to say after watching your vids here on what cuts and how to use the mouth calls properly, you are the only one that explains it like ever before. I did participate in Ohio’s first ever NWTF State calling competition. I did ok and I was calling for Rohm brothers. I finished second in the gobbling and the guy who won it and I used our voices. I am a turkey head since I killed my first bird the very first 9 days straight in pouring rain. Bottom line is I am a student of the game. I absolutely love all your vids and pay attention even now at 62 years old.
You’re the first person to describe different air channels that I’ve seen. I think that was on the video you recommended to watch prior to this one and it really has me interested to see where my air flow goes.
Unreal calling. The break down on how to make the sounds is very helpful. Your sounds are so realistic. I think turkeys are even jealous of how good his calls are!
Hey Shane I just wanted to thank you for for the mouth call lessons. I’ve been practicing at home driving my wife crazy. I went out to a local public area last night to try and locate with coyote bark/howl using your technique. I was able to locate 5 gobblers even had a bunch of dogs and coyotes sounding off all around me. I now feel more confident about my ability to locate roosted gobblers. Thanks again for the instructions and all the entertaining videos .
Shane. I really appreciate you sharing with viewers. You really have a gift of breaking down each component of a turkeys vocabulary in layman’s terms. Kudos Sir!
That wall mount in the background is beautiful! Definitely need one like that in my house. I had seen them done like that on fence posts but never a wall mount. Another great video thank you for sharing!
That's my daughter's first turkey. We hung it there temporarily until I finish the area it will finally be displayed. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. 😁
Just getting into mouth calling and listening to all your videos and now all of these tips are definitely going to be helpful Shane. As iv said before your one of the best mouth caller's iv heard and I'm sure there's others that will agree.
Thank you for leading me back to this video! I really appreciate it. I've never heard a hen yelping or walking without making the bubble cluck sound. Especially right off the roost.
Chuck White is the winner for this video's Prodigy 3-Pack calls giveaway via the random drawing of those that commented within the first 24 hours of this video posting to my channel. Congrats Chuck!
Thanks man, i am impressed with your skills. i only ever use box calls and pot calls and i do get my birds, but i am going to practice diaphragm calls, i got 9 months to get it down.
Another great and informative video. The coyote howl in my area is the best locate call. I never knew how to do it on a mouth reed until I watched your videos. Thanks man.
Great instructional. I have always wanted to bubble cluck, working on it can be frustrating. My goal this year is to get better at it. I have been turkey hunting for 35 years + and always learn something new. Thanks Shane.
Incredible and very realistic calling! There are very few that can reproduce truly authentic sounding calls like this man can. Thanks for the tutorial, because now's the time to get the calls out and practice, not two days before the season.
Great tips. Thank you. I have the Messenger grunt call in the burnt Osage, and a tube call in burnt Osage both from Hooks. I really like Harrison’s stuff. I want the hooter you have to match them. 😁
Just subbed the other day, trying to catch up on hunts from the past. This is a very helpful video on how to use you throat and air to adjust the sounds. I don’t turkey hunt that much, but now my kids want to go. So I need to call a little better due to the fact we hunt mostly public land. Thanks for the time and tips! Anxious for the season to start.
I see some things I haven't done right, I've been turkey hunting for years. I'm going to work on a few things I need to change. Great video and enjoy your hunts
I’m very new to turkey hunting and calling. I picked up a primos mouth call last year and played around with it. Not sure if it’s a good one or not but it drove my wife, kids and dog absolutely crazy in the house. I’m not very good with it. I just opened up this video and she gave me the devil look and said “you better not start that again!!” 🤣🤣🤣 I’ll prob stick with the box call until I get things figured out better 👍
Great tutorial Shane, i always say practice when you can and try different things and it will come to you. Lets get at it in Wisconsin this season and good luck to you and Brooke and all your hunters!!!🦃🦃🦃
Awesome video Shane. But if you have time do you think you could explain a little more deeply how to do the little whine you do with the purrs and clucks. I’m 15 and just started competition calling. I won one tournament last year and got second at another. Loosing to the previous world champ😅. But yea I can’t quite get that whine with the clucks and purrs
Oh man!! Thanks for the tip on the scream with a call. I'm always jealous of Aaron of THP for doing it with the voice. And all ya'll who can gargle. I am doomed to a life of tongue fluttering I'm afraid.
Chuck White, you're the winner for this video's Prodigy 3-Pack calls giveaway via the random drawing of those that commented within the first 24 hours of this video posting to my channel. Congrats! Please email your mailing address to simpzenith@yahoo.com so that I can ship the calls to you. Thank you!
My wife gets a little more turkey calling than she wants. Takes me a few weeks to get back to sounding good after a few months off. I really should practice some all year. 👍🇺🇸🏆🦃sounds good SS gods speed to ya and your family
If this video was available for instruction 25+ years ago, it might have saved me a lot of side eyed looks from people in cars next to me when they heard funny sounds coming from my truck, as I learned and practiced while driving.
Wish I could do more than yelp and putt on mouth call. My problem is the roof of my mouth is narrow. Regular mouth calls are too wide and youth calls are to small. So far the only call I have found that fits me is the Primos Hacked Off calls that are no longer made.
@@ShaneSimpsonHunting thank you. going to get one tomorrow. you need to make a video on how you blow the owl call. i have watched a few but you sound the best on it.
@@ShaneSimpsonHunting i had watched that video several time and forgot about the owl call. i mainly watched the bubble call part. i still can not get it but not giving up. thanks for helping. will watch it again and again until i get it.
I wouldn't worry about purring too much. It's probably the least effective call in the spring woods. Focus on yelping, cutting and gobbler/jake yelping.
You call excellent, but way too much cutting and yelping once the bird is interested go with purring. Once they’re on their way and you don’t need to cut and yelp.
You might want to consider trying aggressive calling out sometime and you just might find out how much more effective it is than purring. Good luck this spring.
Got my hooks calls last week I bought several different ones to try out and see which one works best for me. Now to learn how to call like Shane!!!
Wish you had these videos out 30 years ago Shane. Finally someone that explains everything. Thank you.
I wish I'd known these things 30 years ago. 😁
This is now my cram session- listen to this on the way to EVERY hunt!

This was awesome. Answered a few questions definitely! Thanks!

Awesome video, very clear and very explanatory! Love it, new subscriber to the channel.
Appreciate it man!
10:30 @ night and I’m working woodhaven calls in the house lmao. The mrs says thanks a lot Shane.
😂 Please tell the Mrs. I'm sorry.
Great tip video, I checked you mouth mechanics video out a while back and figured I have a left wind channel as well. Cheers
I like how you break it down so simple! Tis the season for non stop turkey calling in the car and when the wife isn’t home!
Thanks for smashing all those together and posting here, Shane! COVID spring last year plus better diaphragm callers this year...look out 🦃

I usually put a call in when I get in my truck to leave for the woods. Practicing on the way reduces my chances of sucking on my first series of calls
Love the video man! Very helpful
Shane you make it look so easy, your a beast.
Thanks Joe!

Very cool! Now I can annoy my wife while I practice. 😂

I can do the scream with my natural voice but it hurts my vocal cords a little so I use the call instead. Lol
Turkeys hear Aaron from 10 miles away.
All my calls sound like yelps so I needed this lesson

Thank you for this tutorial! Imma call my wife into the bedroom with those whines and purrs...... only to get yelled at for driving her nuts.
Fantastic
Good stuff!!
Easily watched this 4 times now
what is your harrison owl call made of? they make 3 different ones.
I use the Signature model in burnt Osage

Thanks Conner. We've all been there. lol
Awesome
When he howled on that diaphragm, I realized how damn good he was.
