Hi Denise, there are many of us that are not happy with NordicTrack/iFIT's decision to lock down privileged mode. I understand why they want to lock it down as their platform barely supports iFIT. Why would they want customers to have other options? The less people that access privileged mode, the more paying iFIT customers.
Thank you for this! IFit tried auto updating the other day and I was able to catch it in time and stop it. I just updated the security settings you suggested to avoid that happening again. I think it's ridiculous that they are trying to control something I bought and own and should be able to use as I want.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 have you tested running while watching something. Maybe I am forgetting a setting but now after I start a run and go back to Plex or Android settings it auto-pauses the run. Maybe I need to update my ifit. I'm not sure. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Thank you!!! The Story I could bore you with... My dealings with the retailer when I first got my elliptical in 2017.. Days hours on the phone.. and multiple people... In the end Icon Fitness blames the retailer that they advertised incorrectly.. Because the description advertised in detail that this machine had an android device that alled you to browse the internet and stream your shows from all the apps. Icon told me none of thier machines had this ability!!! That the retailer was incorrect. Yet I knew the retailer got the info directly from the Manufacturer NordicTrack! I felt like I was in the twilight zone! I I've finally exited today!!!

General comment about blocking since I see some replies in my email that aren't showing up here. No router is capable of blocking access to any "named" domain if the request is coming through an TLS encrypted tunnel over resolved IP addresses. Every router is different. Some will let you block websites (not just IP's), but again, only the parts that aren't already encrypted. So, if you do have a router that lets you block a custom domain list, then make sure DNS is part of that so nothing can even be initiated; once IP's are resolved and the TLS tunnel is built, no router can block a specific site by name.
Josh, your well thought out comment will definitely help those that understand routers and how they work to receive iFIT content. Your insight has provided me with several ideas for future videos. I want to thank you on behalf of our 3.6K subscribers for providing info that will help us to regain control of our machines.
Hi Andee, hopefully the steps outlined in this video will get you back to accessing privileged mode without a code. If for some reason iFIT pushes an update and knocks you back to square one, not to worry... I have a series of videos coming out that will block access to your NordicTrack/ProForm machine and keep your smart exercise machine safe from auto updates.
Just took delivery of my S22i and I am loving your videos. Very helpful. Privileged mode worked right away on my new machine. I have not run into this issue yet.
If you turn off your nordictrack and turn it back on, would your privileged mode still available? This how I lost my privileged mode, that's why I am back here for new info. Thank you for doing the hard labor for your followers.
Hermit, the act of turning off and on your machine alone won't remove privileged mode. It is when the iFit admin gets updated that your privileged mode access is prohibited.
I lost it too. I made a list from the video so I wouldn't miss a step. I set unknown sources off and password. Did first upgrade and ok until repowered. They. May have blocked by changing the upgrade. Also, checked for upgrades again and there was a second one. I did not install.
@@MMARIC20 thank you so much for your help. I just bought the new Nordictrack x221. I went through your instructions carefully and was successful reaching my privilege mode. My only problem is after rebooting a second time to factory mode iFit DID ask for a code & I was unable to continue with your instructions.....any ideas on overriding this? It's like they're (iFit) working overtime to keep up with you!
Hi ellen, thanks for stopping by and commenting. Since releasing this video, iFIT pushed updates to our machines that locked Privileged Mode and asked for a code. In order to bypass the code and get back your privileged mode easy access, you will have to follow new steps. Essentially, you will be factory resetting your machine and then will have to block the iFIT websites that push the updates. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the privileged mode is for the Android tablet on your NordicTrack and not for iFit app, iFIt is just an app that runs on your Android tablet. Privileged mode is an Android feature specifically for Android developer's used.

Thanks for the comments Fred. It is a shame that NordicTrack/iFIT is shutting down privileged mode for many of us. I do understand their bottom dollar is to promote iFIT paid memberships and to do that they have to remove any environment that may allow for other apps to flourish. Can you imagine if they had to compete with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, TH-cam, and even Peloton? They would lose quite a few of their returning paying customers. -- I am just glad there are some of us that have been able to keep Privileged Mode enabled.

Jon, it always makes my day when I hear from subscribers that they were able to learn from my videos and configure their machine to get the very best possible user experience. Going into privileged mode to install apps and have other options should be the norm. Glad you got your X32i up and running even better!
I’m considering getting an i14 but agitated by this iFit lock-in. This video seems to be about six months old so I assume it may not apply. Should I abort and get a different treadmill? I like the cushion on the i14. It would be great to watch TH-cam on the screen. But if they keep just locking it down, I’m not sure it is worth the hassle. Great video btw. Take my thumbs up.
Hi Eric, you are correct. When this video was posted, NordicTrack/ProForm had not pushed the latest iFit updates. Now we need to be a bit more ingenious to thwart their efforts to lock down our machines. Not to worry...I have a neat little trick that will allow you to gain back control and allow easy access to privileged mode. You'll be able to watch TH-cam whenever you fancy. Hey boss, thanks for the videos! My 2021 Commerical 2450 Nodictrack does not appear to have a pin hole or USB port. How does one do the factory reset on these machines?
Hi Frank, actually your Commercial 2450 should have the pinhole to factory reset your machine. Here is a link to your user's manual: www.iconservice.com/model/list?modelNumber=&modelName=2450 ----- I just checked and YES, you have it. Here is what I read... ----- ...reset the console to the factory default settings. IMPORTANT: Doing this will erase all of the custom settings you have made to the console. Resetting the console requires two people. First, press the power switch into the off position. Next, locate the small reset opening on the top of the console. Using a bent paper clip, press and hold the reset button inside the opening, and have a second person press the power switch into the on (reset) position. Continue holding the reset button until the console turns on. When the reset operation is complete, the console will turn off and then turn back on. If it does not, use the power switch to turn the treadmill off and then on again. Once the console turns on, check for firmware updates (see step 5 on page 26). Note: It may take a few minutes for the console to be ready for use. ----- The user manual has a drawing showing the approximate location of the pinhole.

Quick update. The version of Android on this device does not seem to have the unknown sources setting. I did a search in settings. There is something similar. “Install unknown apps” and it lives under Settings > Apps & notifications > Special app access. When I go there “Browser” is currently Allowed. Not sure if that should be disabled or if that’s a different setting. It looks like the Android OS updated with the iFIT update. It’s currently at Android 9.0. IFIT version 2.6.77.3417.
Frank, sorry I did not answer your reply earlier. FOr some reason your comment went into the "Hold for review" message tab. I don't normally check that, something I need to do more often. I approved your message and here it is. As for the Unknown Sources. Not to worry about that. I believe the newer machines have it set to default so you need not worry. If for some reason it was not set correctly, when you try to install something, you would get a pop up asking you if you want to allow unknown sources. YOu would then have the option of enabling it. Doesn't seem to work on all devices. Got a new elliptical, and the option to stop installs from unknown sources isn't there. Additionally, putting a pass code on it made it just boot to a black screen. Careful, everyone
Hi Brandon, sorry I didn't respond sooner. Have been dealing with kidney stones and sometimes the pain is almost unbearable. Hoping these stones head on out (of my body) soon. You make several good points. First let's talk about the Unknown Sources option. The newer machines don't always come configured to show the Unknown Sources option. Not to worry as the newer machines also come configured with unknown sources enabled. The great thing is even if for some reason your machine has unknown sources disabled, when you go to install an app, the Android operating system will automatically prompt you and ask if you want to enable unknown sources. SO either way, you will be good to go. ----- At the time this video was posted, the info was up to date, but now, with all of the iFit patches that have been pushed to our machines, you need to take a different approach in order to access privileged mode. There is a way to gain access to privileged mode permanently, and still receive all of the iFit updates. So I had the commercial x11i nordictrack treadmill but to reset you had to turn the power switch off and then turn it on and press the the reset button while its turning on, if you wanna make sure you get access to privledge mode you had to make sure to not set the internet, as when I reset I still had to call but when I didnt set my internet I was able to access privledge mode, hope this is helpful to anyone this has this model as I couldn't find anything

Silly questions. Do I want to stay in privilege mode after installing the taskbar and streaming apps? If I do a factory reset now will I lose my streaming apps again? My Ifit app is stuck on the “train harder and smarter” promo screen and never gets to the login screen with the available workouts (machine is an RW600)

If you have both the taskbar and streaming apps installed, then most likely you only have temporary access to privileged mode...just long enough to install an app or two. ----- If you are having issues with your display being stuck, I would do a factory reset and then proceed with the Permanent Privileged Mode (PPM) hack to do away with any addiitional bloatware. If your movies are pausing, do you mean you have to hit play again to start them, or they are pausing and you cannot start them again? ----- Here are some suggestions: 1. Try uninstalling and then reinstalling Netflix. That may be the easiest fix for you to try. NOTE: I see you are commenting on an older video of mine. Thanks for your videos. Android 9.0 is a bit tricky, but if you don’t connect to the internet, enter privileged mode, connect to the internet in android, then power cycle the machine, when iFIT restarts, just hit “getting started” and then quickly hit “use without wifi” it will bypass the software update, and connect to the internet when the app loads. I’ve been able to use the old version of iFIT and remain in privileged mode.
Thanks Mark. This is good news as I just checked my X22i and lo and behold iFIT pulled a fast one and updated my machine and now that stinkin' code is back! I have a new video coming out today where I talk about this and what to do if you are one of the unlucky ones. Great to know you were able to finesse your machine to get it working without a code.
@@Patmatrick1 I did this, in conjunction with going into "App & notifications" > "Special app access" > "Wi-Fi Control" > "iFit" > "Allow app to control Wi-Fi" - Disabled. All this will work for a while, but based on my experience, it will still update. Particularly if you leave your console on after using it.

Sooo i have the new machine with the paperclip, i did it without the reset button and was able to get into the privileged mode to enter a code. Spoke to customer service and they would not give me a code at all.

I just called NT and asked for the Privilege Mode codes, and they would not provide the 6 digits. I was smoked! This requires you only to use the machine in manual mode or iFit mode. They need to provide another update so we can access the internet and other apps. Won't buy another ND machine ever unless they change this policy. tx for trying though.
Steven, when you call back, you must provide a good enough reason to get the technicians to provide you with the code. Here are some of the responses that would be considered a valid reason. -- Need to factory reset my machine so I can sell it to someone else. Want to make certain all my personal information is removed. -- My iFIT software is not working correctly. I cannot search for workout videos. iFIT crashes whenever I try to do a search. -- My display is acting weird. It is non-responsive. A friend had the same problem and was able to factory reset his machine and all is good again. -- A coworker had the same issue with iFIT restarting for no reason. Could not use the machine without iFIT restarting. He was instructed to go into privileged mode and was given the code. His treadmill works fine now. ----- All of the above were actual conversations between customers and NordicTrack/iFIT technicians. Each and every time, the tech provided the customer the code to get into privileged mode. -- Hope this helps. Plz come back and let us know how you fared.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 great ideas… def will try. I’m tempted just to put the bike in manual mode so I get all the metrics and attach an ipad to watch TH-cam Netflix etc and never endorse NT again. This last move they made put them on my black list
I tried these steps several times with my new NT 2950 Treadmill. Each time I turn on the screen lock with a password or pin. I perform the manual update. After the update iFit loads (or so I believe) and then the screen goes black. It's still powered on and I can hear it running, but it's just a black screen. I let it go over night and it was sill black in the morning. If I reset and don't add the screen lock it updates fine, but it asks for the code to enter privileged mode.

Just bought mine a couple weeks ago. After factory reset and successfully getting into privileged mode, I don't see a toggle for unknown sources. When I search "unknown", all that comes up is to unselect unknown apps from browser. I did this but after manually updating, I get kicked out of privileged mode again. Do I just never update again? What happens when I turn off/ on my X32i treadmill?
Hi brianmaher2008, Here are some answers... 1. Not to worry about unknown sources. If you need to install an application, it will pop up if it is disabled, allowing you to enable it. Also, if you go to privileged mode/settings, you may be able to search for it using the search option. 2. As for never updating again, many of us do not update for fear of losing easy access to privileged mode. If you are OK with the older version of iFit, then staying at the older versions allows for more options when accessing privileged mode. 3. If you turn off your X32i, as long as you have those two iFit websites blocked, you will be oK.
Mine have been locked for a while and now i want to access privileged mode, but does reseting it delete all the apps i have installed before? Cu Id really hate having to download them all over again
Hi Eisa, in order to access privileged mode and have it stay accessible permanently, there are some configurations you have to do. If interested, send me an email to DoctorNT0714@gmail.com and in the subject line write: "Priv-Mode-Help." I will spot your email and reply with a way to unlock your machine permanently. Otherwise, doing a factory reset will delete all the apps you have installed. Doing just a regular reset won't delete the apps.

Hi Celia, even the newer models have the same Android 9 Operating System as current models. There will always be a way to get access to the OS, no matter how many lockdowns iFit tries to push out. NOTE: Currently only members of my TH-cam channel have access to all the information needed for easy access to privileged mode (Android OS). There are ways around the current lockdowns in place, but only one way to bypass everything and get the smart exercise machine back to its unlocked condition. Using a NT x32i and looks like the updates are installed as soon as you connect to Wi-Fi. I’ve reset the machine 5 or 6 times already and I am unable to use Netflix; the one time I got to settings before the updates I was able to dl Netflix, but I still get “the app is not supported by your device” when trying to launch the app. PLEASE HELP

I have the side reset button on my EXP7i and I followed the steps and it worked, however I was unable to access the iFIT app. I repeated the process and now keep getting asked to call norditrack for access. What am I doing wrong?

Hi AB, Yes, there is a much easier way to deal with all of the lockdowns that have been forced upon us by iFIT. It involves a bit of file manipulation within the software. My most recent video walks you thru the process and provides easy-to-follow steps that will have your machine back to its original state, back to all its glory! ----- The video I am referring to is currently only available to members of the TH-cam channel. As a member you pay a nominal fee (99 cents monthly). The reason I made the video private, and only available to members was twofold. 1. Keep the information private. If too many people know about this, then it is possible that another iFIT update could come out that could close this loophole. 2. Nelson-I hope you can help… This might be a reach in getting an answer from you but an iFit agent directed me to go into privilege mode to fix a Bluetooth issue. Since I did that, I’ve had an incline/resistance problem appear (not physically working), & now the main screen shows I cannot connect to the internet even though it says I’m connected under settings. Will try this but if it gives me trouble i will get my old tablet out and put it on wifi and place it in front of the screen. Use it for movies, etc. I bought this older proform tour de france exercise bike thinking I could watch movies. Any chance of getting ifit went out the window. Does no good if I cannot watch movies. I will find a way to attach it to the proform.
I have a new 2950 Treadmill. I was able to access privileged mode through this process but only after pausing internet activity for the treadmill on my router. Once in privileged mode, there is no longer an option to stop updates being pushed to the machine! As soon as i unpaused activity for the treadmill - update was installed automatically and privileged mode was off! After tapping to get back in - got the “call customer service for code” came up! Pissed!

Yesterday, i was able to block the websites that you shared through parental controls in the router, then tried a factory reset without pausing internet activity - no luck! Creat-irv, if there is, I have yet to hear from any of the thousands of viewers saying they have cracked the code to find this Android app. There may be dungeons Sbar enough to crack this and produce such an app, but currently, no such app exists.
Hi Joseph, If I am understanding correctly, your treadmill had privileged mode working (enabled). You disabled privileged mode, so essentially your treadmill is back to normal, except for the fact you can't run on the treadmill anymore? 1. Am I to understand that now you no longer have any motivation to run on your treadmill because you no longer have privileged mode enabled? 2. Do you mean that your treadmill is now malfunctioning, thus you can no longer run on it? 3. The belt no longer moves? ----- If you could plz clarify exactly what is happening, it may help me and others to provide some insight. In the meantime, you can always do a factory reset and get your treadmill back to its original state.

I tried this on my almost new Proform 5000. Reset, get into Privilege mode, add the TH-cam. It worked. But as soon as I restart the machine (update one version). I can’t get into Privilege mode again. My machine was working until about 4 days ago after I updated the version sent by IFIT. Any tips?

Hi labelleza, I checked your user's manual and found this... If the console does not boot up properly, or if the console freezes and does not respond, reset the console to the factory default settings. IMPORTANT: Doing this will erase all custom settings you have made to the console. Resetting the console requires two people. First, unplug the power adapter. Next, locate the small reset opening on the side or the back of the console. Using a bent paper clip, press and hold the reset button inside the opening, and have a second person plug in the power adapter. Continue holding the reset button until the console turns on. When the reset operation is complete, the console will turn off and then turn back on. If it does not, unplug and then plug in the power adapter. Once the console turns on, check for firmware updates (see HOW TO CHANGE CONSOLE SETTINGS on page 21). Note: It may take a few minutes for the console to be ready for use.
Dr. NT, I'm having the same problem. I prefer to turn the machine off when not in use, so we are continuously resetting our S22i. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Not to worry Manas. You actually do not want to disable Unknown Sources. And if for some reason you cannot see Unknown Sources, not to worry. If and when you get ready to install some apps, if you need to enable Unknown Sources, it will pop up and prompt you.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Quick update, I exactly did that and then went ahead and installed Netflix from both looging into Netflix through browser and clicking on help link that directed me to a download link, this netflix was apparently not compatible. For the second attempt i searched through apk pure and downloaded apk there, this time it kept saying there was some error and threw me a code. Now interestingly, when i restarted the machine, Nordic Track updated and apparently patched the machine and I lost the privileged mode.

So is there a way to change the start up to not load ifit? I followed all of your steps and did the iFIT update but when I turn my machine on I put in my pin code and then iFit loads quickly and essentially locked me out of privilege mode.

Hi Nelson. Loving the videos. I've completed all the steps you suggested and I can confirm it works on my new X32i Treadmill but if I turn the machine off when finished and turn it back on for my next workout, Privilege mode is deactivated. When I apply the touch sequence again, the treaded code request pops up. This is either telling me, I can't turn off the machine or Icon have blocked it once again.
Ian, when I made this video iFit had not pushed a newer update. Now there are extra steps you must accomplish in order to block iFit updates. I tried these steps on my s22i and it seemed to work ok until NT had an additional update that seems to be an Android update that reboots the system and removed the Privileged Mode for me. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to disable unknown sources. I'll try that and go through the process again. NT should be ashamed!
Greg, I have another video coming out on how to block iFIT using your router. It seems to help with newer machines running Android version 9. Working on the video this weekend. Hope to have it released soon. -- In the meantime have you tried the method of power cycling your machine? This involves the same steps of factory reset, then setting a password. The difference is after setting the password, you immediately power down your machine. You then power it up and go to privileged mode settings and search for unknown sources. Use the search in the top right. If you can't find it, instead go to Developer options and look for an option dealing with Auto updates. Disable auto updates then immediately power off your machine again. The idea behind power cycling your machine is to disrupt the iFIT updates. If done fast enough it will cause the iFIT app to error out and will corrupt the iFIT routine leaving you with an older yet functioning iFIT. -- Not the best fix but something you may use until my next video comes out. NOTE: Those of you that have newer machines running Android 9 may receive an iFIT update that permanently removes privileged mode even after running thru the steps outlined in my video. @@NelsonMunoz0714 I just added an "EDIT" section to that post about using Meteor Swipe for app switching. Basically, the failed to update dialogs appear to be stacking if they aren't closed and eventually create a really poor experience trying to switch between apps. Adding a non-native app to do the switching has completely mitigated this nuisance for the way I use my machine.

ifit said it would not give me the code but walk through the paperclip restart. They would only give me the code if I was troubleshooting. I said I was and then they said that is not what you said the first time and would not give me the code. What can I say I was troubleshooting to get the code

Thanks for your videos. I’m still having problems . After I reset the machine and log back in .I still get the pop up asking me to call.I have a x-32i from last year. I have tried this 3 times. As soon as I pull the paper clip out of the hole it says erasing . Then updates updating. Then I’m prompted to enter my credentials and then the 10 tap technique just gets me to the same old pop-up what am I doing wrong how can I get my Netflix back. sean, have you tried the do the factory reset again? I have heard from viewers where they had to do the factory reset a 2nd time in order to successfully get their machine working.
Dear Nelson, Thanks again for your wonderful and this gold video again. It happened to my treadmill today and I have a privilege Mode code. I called them and they didn't help me for another code to enter it and they said you cant use this machine for watching youtube... anymore. My machine has a hole on the side as you mentioned. Should I go through those steps as you mentioned? The password that you provided for your machine has been created before or you entered the new one? I am asking cause my machine was used and I purchased it from someone else and I am a liittle bit worried that they might entered their own password when they started to use it. Shadi, since you have the pinhole, you don't need a password. You can just factory reset your machine and follow these steps. Hi marialenass, that is typical of the reboot process. Depending on what model you have, you may have to try the factory reset again. If by some odd chance it hangs at the iFIT logo again, I would contact NordicTrack/iFIT and have them talk you through it. Good luck, and plz come back and let us know how it went.
If I do this factory setting reset does that means the update that was remembering your previous performance and adjusting the speeds according to your previous exercises will not work?
Hi Jimi, make certain to do your homework and weigh the pros and cons of any model you are interested in. NordicTrack and ProForm smart exercise machines are awesome but very proprietary. You may be able to "hack" the display so you can watch other things other than iFit, but it is getting harder and harder to manipulate the settings/configuration since each update locks down the machine. If you want an awesome machine with thousands of video workouts, you can't go wrong with NordicTrack/ProForm. I will do my best to keep providing videos where we can get the very best use experience and are not just limited to iFit.

What if you never had "Enable Unknown Sources" option in your Android version? I just received my X22i on 12/22/2021 and I cannot get Netflix to work. Keep saying not compatible with my device. Plus I have a terrible time with any other app (Hulu, TH-cam, Amazon Video and Music) only being a small screen in the center, and will not go full screen. I have uninstalled apps, re-downloaded them, and had no luck getting anything to work properly. Especially Netflix. I wonder if I should just Factory Reset and start all over?

The video shows you both ways. Also shows you how to install Amazon Prime Video. Since you have a newer machine you can't use the apk file from Netflix. Hope this helps. As for Unknown Sources, you don't have to enable it, as it will pop up when you install apps, should you need it.
As for Hulu and TH-cam, I cannot get those working as they, I believe, are looking for Google Play Services, something that is not installed on our devices. You can watch TH-cam thru a web browser. Watch this video for TH-cam tips. th-cam.com/video/wJsl5AjZtlU/w-d-xo.html
@@NelsonMunoz0714 I've been watching so many videos but not sure so I'll watch now and see if the other methods work. I also had no issues installing Amazon Prime Video and Music, the issue was the screen size. Not being able to Maximize the window to fill the screen for those and other apps. So they install and do work, it just doesn't fill the screen and is basically unusable to navigate. I've tried adjusting all display options in android as well as the apps. No luck :(

Your interaction helps my channel and tells the TH-cam algorithm to promote the channel whenever anyone searches for NordicTrack videos. -- As for your question, check to see how you have your display screensaver configured. You may be able to tweak the screensaver so it doesn't kick in so quickly. -- That being said, if your machine display goes black the only way to get back in is to power cycle on/off. The Android operating system assumes the tablet has a physical button you can depress that would wake up the display. Since NordicTrack uses generic Android software, it is not specifically configured for a smart exercise machine. Instead iFIT is the way the software "talks" to the machine. The Android desktop is not really meant to be a user interface for us to interact with the machine.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Hi Nelson, scratch all of that. I jumped on the treadmill and i was locked out of privedged mode again. I has put a pin and on the 2950 you have to turn off allow unknown sources specifically for the "browser" app, which i did also and im locked out again. it seems to happen every time i go from factory settings to updating the ifit app (with both of those things in place first like your video), when i restart it, it worked. a couple of days later. locked out again!!

Almost everything worked for me after the reset, but once I did all the steps except 4 (with newer machine) I don't have that option to turn on or off disable unknown sources. I updated and privilege mode no longer allowed in back to needing to contact Nordictrack or whomever.
Nico, there are updated steps in my BATTLE FOR PRIVILEGED MODE video series. Essentially you'll need to block certain websites which will in turn stop NordicTrack/iFIT auto updates.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 I did that but I just bought the commercial 2950 a month ago and I didn't have the option to block updates. Mine only had the option for a pin or code to turn on. Now when I do a factory reset it automatically does a system update and I have no choice. I think I'm screwed

Before logging in I tapped 10 waited and tapped 10 and came up true! Cool!! I. In the Trusted credentials System and there are like 50 different ones, I'm wondering if one of these is the auto system update.... Or whomever can turn off privilege mode.... Well, update, I logged into my iFit account and it went into auto update mode

Unfortunately, the Android 9 version I have doesn't have an option for "Unknown Sources" (even following general guides for Android 9) but may try disabling iFit from being able to modify system settings if there's any other issues in the future but for now, I'm updated and in privilege mode :D I really don't understand why they even list the Android version in their specs if they don't want you to use it... There's really no point to even having a screen if iFit is literally the only thing you can do with it. I wish stuff like this fell into the 'right to repair' act or we get something else similar but more for this stuff, soon.
Hi CP, not to worry about Unknown Sources as when you go to install additional apps like Netflix, or any other apps, if Unknown Sources is not enabled, it will prompt you to enable it. Another thing you can do is go into privileged mode and then settings. From the settings menu in the top right there is a search option. You can search for Unknown Sources to see if you can access it this way. Again, if the search does not work, it is not something major as most likely our machines come with Unknown Sources enabled; and if by chance it is not enabled, for certain when you go to install something, it will pop up and ask you if you want to enable unknown sources. ----- As for the Right to Repair, I too wish that iFIT would relent and stop pushing updates that essentially restrict our options. We will see what the future holds. Here's hoping they give up on this path and eventually give us back true ownership of our machines.
My ifit app is acting funny the created map route im making is only mapping half the entire run ,. Im curious about doing the factory reset in the privledged mode but unsure if i wanna do this.. Will it remove the Ifit app will i be able to start up the machine as normal?
Hi Benjamin, not to worry. If you factory-reset your machine, it will be as if your machine was brand new again. You'll have to log back in to your machine, but afterwards hopefully you won't have any problems mapping your runs.

Ben, I have heard from numerous subscribers/members that they too are having problems with workouts cutting off before the end. There seems to be quite a bit of traffic saying that iFit is aware of the issue and is planning an update in the near future. Make certain to report the issue using the iFit application, this way you will get an immediate automated reply from iFit/NordicTrack and then you will have ammunition to back you up of all the times this has happened. In your communication, make certain to demand compensation in the form of at least one full additional year of iFit. There is absolutely no reason we as customers should not have a smart exercise machine that works as advertised. Good Luck.
Somehow ifit applies the update. I set the pin and set outside sources to off. Has anyone else experienced this? Any known fixes? Also, if it kept saying that another update was available and that update is what would lock the privileged mode, so I never updated. But this morning, when I turned the machine on, privileged mode was gone and it asked for a code.

Disable auto updates then immediately power off your machine again. The idea behind power cycling your machine is to disrupt the iFIT updates. If done fast enough it will cause the iFIT app to error out and will corrupt the iFIT routine leaving you with an older yet functioning iFIT. -- Not the best fix but something you may use until my next video comes out. If I go buy a new nordictrack with the new version of Ifit will I be able to get into privilege mode? In theory, my factory reset will be with the version of ifit that caused you to lose your privilege mode?
plockwood82, that is an excellent question, and honestly I don't know the answer. It is possible that a factory reset loads an earlier version that will allow easy access to Privileged Mode, but then again maybe not. Luckily there are other ways to gets around this. I have several videos coming out with additional ways to circumvent this stinkin' Privileged Mode Code. Hang in there and hopefully you're subscribed so you can get notified whenever I post new content. Stay positive... we will figure this out. Too many smart folks that are helping me along the way.

Jessica, make certain: 1. You are connected to the internet and that your Peloton app has permissions to access the web. 2. I remember someone else having connect issues and they had to go into settings or security to give permission to the Web Browser? 3. Also make certain the Peloton app you downloaded works with your version of Android. Plz come back and let us know if you were successful.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Yes, I'm certain I'm connected to the WIFI. The app definitely has permission to the web. It was working, I did a class and then the next morning all the apps weren't connecting to the web and were saying connection error. I made sure to download the correct app which for my bike is 5.1.10. Trust me I've watched all your videos which have helped so much but I think there is something going that's blocking their access to the connection, because the IFIT still works.
Ana, I would try uninstalling Peloton and then one more try, reinstall it. See if that clears out any issues. Wish I had something more concrete, but Peloton has been known to cause issues with connectivity. Whenever in doubt, I too have reinstalled apps and they sometimes work for no apparent reason. Let me know what you decide...

This video was so helpful but even after a factory reset on a newer model the updates were automatic and it still asked me for the code to enter privileged mode :( calling customer support now to see if I can sneak my way in!

Thanks again for your instruction how to get back the privileged mode. I called right after watching your video and after a long wait and questions why I wanted the privileged mode, they finally gave me the code. They did warn me that if I use Netflix, youtube, etc, they might harm my machine and they won't be able to help me. I just said, "I understand and thank you for the warning". They offered to stick around to help me with my settings but I declined the offer and hung up. I have a new question for you. In Trusted Credentials, I tapped on Display Trusted CA Certificates and all certificates are enabled. I started disabling them, but there's a lot more. Do you know if there's a way to disable them in bulk? .
Hi Hermie, glad you were able to get the code for privileged mode. I have heard from numerous subscribers/viewers that it is getting increasingly harder to get the code. Those with newer machines that have the factory reset pinhole are fortunate as they don't have to go thru the hassle of phoning NordicTrack/iFit. As for disabling Trusted certificates in bulk, I do not know of a way to do that? Have you looked at developer options to see if there is anything there? Can i ask why you are disabling them? Is it to block websites?

Hey Joe, I have heard from several viewers that have the same problem. Unfortunately, this is not a reportable issue as it does not interfere with iFIT. -- Have you tried factory resetting your machine to see if that helps? What model do you have? I work as a computer engineer in my "other" job and this sounds as if you only have read permissions on your machine so that every time you power off/on it does not keep your changes. -- Are you able to get iFIT updates? Check to see what the iFIT app version is and also what version of Android you have. If you are having issues with iFIT, you may be able to contact NordicTrack and have them replace your hard drive. If you go to the android settings (not ifit settings) >security and pick the first option, which should be to set up a pin, ifit cannot erase your data because they need your code. @@devmishra6064, I am familiar with this video as I helped him to get his machine back to privileged mode. Several of my videos talk about setting a password/pin. This seems to help with older machines. Not certain if the newer Android 9 machines are able to get into privileged mode.
I presume the Priviledged Mode Block is in a recent iFit update. Thus, I don't understand what the factory reset and unknown sources off steps are for, if in the end, we go ahead search for and and install the most recent update for our machine. I really don't understand which of the steps you describe takes away the Priviledged Mode Block and how it does it (since we are installing all available updates).

So just did this 2 days ago on my 1750. It all worked. Today the IFit froze and I couldn't touch anything, turned it off and on and needed a privilege mode code again
Also just did it again. Google play store is not on the machine nor will it allow you to download apps from the Google play website. I wasn't able to watch Netflix because Netflix requires the app to be used and since you can't download from the store, no Netflix. I was able to watch Disney plus, but came back an hour later to try and use it again and when switching apps back to IFit, the whole thing froze again
Jordan, there have been several updates pushed out by NordicTrack/ProForm/iFit since this video was posted. In order to bypass the Privileged Mode Code and install apps like Netflix, you need to make a few changes to your machine. Anthony, that is a solid NO. I have not found any way to update the version of Android running on the machine. I believe it is tied to the model and hardware. I have spoken to many subscribers on this subject, much smarter than me and this is not something anyone has been able to crack.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 If the concern about updating Android relates to security .... if you do a vulnerability scan on your console, it will come up with nothing (try it). The console doesn't listen on any IP ports.

Not sure what equipment you have, but after doing this many times I realized if I was in the right position I could flip the power switch with my toe while pushing (and holding) the pinhole reset.
tinseldoll, you are correct. But rather than leave it on all the time, when you go to install other apps, your machine will prompt you to enable unknown sources. Good catch!
I got a version with the pinhole, got it in privilege mode, set a pin, tried installing different types of apks for TH-cam and Netflix but all of them say force close, and do not actually run. I am however able to watch TH-cam via the browser but Netflix videos are not loading via the browser (it looks like it gets close when showing desktop site but stays loading forever. Haven’t waited long enough to see if it actually plays after some time). It is on android 9. Any clue on the force closing on apps?
small update after messing with it forever, I was able to get Netflix, Amazon Prime, Twitch working by simply getting the latest iterations on apkpure, Twitch I had to find another site since I couldnt figure out how to install xAPK, but TH-cam, HBO Max, and Hulu I think depend on the Google Play Services so it gives an error and doesn't let you either sign in or even open the app, if you happen to know a way around this let me know! I did however see that TH-cam worked on the browser and saw the shortcut you made so thank you! I also just set it as my browser homepage which helps to simply just open and always have it at the page. But big thumbs up! Thank you for helping so many people!
ryovela, looks as if you were able to figure out the issue. Sometimes it takes trial and error to get everything to work. Glad you have not been kicked out of privileged mode like others.
Thanks for stopping by again and leaving comments that are much appreciated. Glad you were able to figure out how to install the apk files for Netflix and the others. As for TH-cam, HBO, Hulu, and some others, they will not work as they require Google Play Services. I did see where several viewers were able to play around with Google Play Services and installed them, but eventually had issues with the services shutting down and causing their machines to hang. There was one subscriber that actually got Hulu working by continuously hitting OK on the Google Play Services stopped window. It was not perfect, but she did get Hulu working. I have not been able to duplicate her success. -- TH-cam will only work in the browser. Glad you were able to configure the shortcut. Appreciate the support ryovela.
Yes sir, so after rebooting while holding down the reset button it automatically boots up and asks for wifi, after wifi it automatically starts updating ifit however as soon as it started I did the 10 taps, 7s, 10 taps and went to the settings and set a pin before the update was able to finish downloading and installing. Once it finished the updates the privilege mode remained.
ryovela, happy to hear a success story for a change. There are so many folks that are being shut out of privileged mode. Glad you were able to gain access. Hi Nelson, Could you please help me finding the reset pinhole on x32i. Machine is about 3 months old and I can see two pinholes on both side of the camera right on the bezel. I tried inserting pin in both but it doesn't work. Thanks in advance.
Hi rab, the best way to find your factory reset pinhole is to look up your model number at this website: iconservice.com If you enter your model name and number you will have access to a user's manual that should provide you with a drawing and steps on how to find your factory reset pinhole.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Thank you very much. I did the factory reset. During the boot process I saw an update being applied to the machine. Now my machine is at Android 9.0. I managed to get into the privileged mode and applied the screen lock but unable to find untrusted sources option. IFit automatically got updated and I lost the privileged mode again. I have tried the procedure 3/4 times but I lose the access to the privilege mode every time when ifit updates. Is there any solution to this issue or I'm the only one? Thank you
I have another video coming out on how to block iFIT using your router. It seems to help with newer machines running Android version 9. Working on the video this weekend. Hope to have it released soon. -- In the meantime have you tried the method of power cycling your machine? This involves the same steps of factory reset, then setting a password. The difference is after setting the password, you immediately power down your machine. You then power it up and go to privileged mode settings and search for unknown sources. Use the search in the top right. If you can't find it, instead go to Developer options and look for an option dealing with Auto updates. Hi Nelson, I’m on Android 7, reset button on top of the console. If I get the Privilege Code from IFIT, to avoid a factory reset and lose the settings I already done, do the password and unknown sources step, should that stay the same or is a factory reset definitely the key here? Thanks
Factory reset worked for me, but there are some folks that are experiencing the issue soon afterwards. Factory reset can't hurt because it gets your machine back to its original state (nice and clean). You may need to configure your router as well, to block certain iFIT websites, but I'd try the steps in this video first.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Instead of Factory Reset, got he code for Privilege. Added password and unticked Unknown sources as advised. I’ve then turned off and on the machine. It asked for password to start Android. Then Desktop screen appeared with a lock on. Asked to scroll up to unlock and at this point asked to enter password again. Once in, back to IFIT screen only, Privilege Mode disappeared ☹️
@@2005lesea, try the factory reset again, but make certain to power off/ power on if it tries to update. Eventually it won't try to update as you will get past that sequence with an error. Error won't affect you but will inhibit the iFit update for a time. Long enough for you to regain a stable system with Privileged Mode. Good luck.
Lana, YES, that is correct. In order to get a code, you must tell them you are having issues with your iFit software. A typical issue that may users experience is when iFit constantly reboots itself. Another way to get a code is to let NordicTrack/iFit know you are selling your machine and want to delete all your personal information from the machine, to include any iFit membership info. The only way to do that is to do a factory reset. They will provide you with the code for that purpose. Once you have the code and do a factory reset, if you change your mind about selling your machine, that is your prerogative. ☺

@@NelsonMunoz0714 Thank you. I believe that your article got omitted or filtered out. I had made an extensive post earlier that doesn't show up. I went into detail about the difficulties I was having trying to solve the problems on the x32i with audio/video sync on the iFit workouts over Bluetooth. I've had nothing but trouble with this unit. I believe the primary reason they are blocking access to privileged mode is because it complicates life for their tech support staff. I'm glad that folks have been able to have some success in running whatever they want on their own property, but it seems to me that the tablet these units are based on can barely run the 'official' iFit app. Sideloading has never been a goal for me, but it should be available if I wanted it. All of the Bluetooth settings should be exposed; this is the primary reason I have to keep entering PM - to pair earbuds/headphones. Even if a keygen is developed, NT will keep changing the algorithm. Getting them to back down on this policy is the only real answer, and they are unlikely to do so. I have a lesser NT unit that uses whatever Android tablet you own to control the treadmill. Last time I checked, it didn't have any of these problems. In over half a century, I have never dealt with a more uncaring and despicable company.

Hi, I just received my 2950 treadmill yesterday. I tried to get into privleged mode and needed The Code. I called support, and was told that people were inadvertantly installing apps with viruses, and then asking support to help them out. The rep said that voids the warranty, so they opted to totally restrict their users from privileged mode and will continue to find ways to do that. She did say that it is likely that a future software update will add a cast to TV function. I look forward to trying your fix. Thanks

Regardless, if you want to access privileged mode on your machine, you should be able to, as long as you are aware you may be voiding your warranty. ----- Here is a response I recently provided to another subscriber. ***** Here are some of the responses that would be considered a valid reason to request a code to gain access to privileged mode. -- Need to factory reset my machine so I can sell it to someone else. Want to make certain all my personal information is removed. -- My iFIT software is not working correctly. I cannot search for workout videos. iFIT crashes whenever I try to do a search. -- My display is acting weird. It is non-responsive. A friend had the same problem and was able to factory reset his machine and all is good again. -- A coworker had the same issue with iFIT restarting for no reason. Could not use the machine without iFIT restarting. He was instructed to go into privileged mode and was given the code. His treadmill works fine now. ----- All of the above were actual conversations between customers and NordicTrack/iFIT technicians. Each and every time, the tech provided the customer the code to get into privileged mode. -- Hope this helps. Plz come back and let us know how you fared.

Hi brent22z, I used to be a customer rep for Target and you just read from a prepared script most of the times. NordicTrack/iIFT reps have strict rules in place where they do not offer up any information on privileged mode unless it is to fix an issue with your machine. I can count on one hand the times I have received instructions from a technician telling me to go into privileged mode. And now with this new code in place, it will be very few and far between when a tech provides the code to get into privileged mode. They are supposed to ask you why you want the code and may not give you the 6-digit code if you do not have enough of a reason. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! You may not be able to get into privileged mode on your own machine. LOL ----- -- I too am embarrassed for the customer support representatives, but I doubt they own a NordicTrack/ProForm treadmill or bike so they probably do not realize how important privileged mode is to some of us. -- Hope you are one of us that can still get into privileged mode. @@sachinoob9209, I wish such an app existed, unfortunately iFIT is a proprietary software developed specifically to work with their machines. I have read about really smart tech folks that have rooted their machines and have been able to control the speed of the belt but in the process have hosed their machine. We can always use iFIT in manual mode and run other apps in the background. Just a matter of figuring out how to block iFIT from updating our machines. I'm working on a video to do just that. Thank you for posting this video, I am livid that ifit thinks they can hold the treadmill hostage. I tried following the steps to do a factory reset twice on my newer commercial 1750 and it opens with a screen saying retry, i move past it and it shows me the welcome screen where I enter my wifi, metrics and timezone again but when it finally get to the ifit home screen where i tap to bring up the privileged mode, it still shows me the code and number to call. I’ve tried this twice and wondering what might be happening. Can you offer any insight? Thanks!

Skip all the initial setup, you can access the initial app as a guest with out internet access. Once at the standard ifit page (guest) access privileged mode as you normally would. From there go Into Android settings then connect to your wifi and follow the video instructions.
I found that updating ifit, still caused issues, so I've left my machine on the original software version. It doesn't auto update and privileged remains after turning the machine off. Assuming ifit continues on the current path, I would say never update its only a matter of time before they patch any avenue of keeping privileged mode.
Hi Noelle, you won't lose your iFIT. This will only provide you with additional options like installing Netflix so you can watch a show or movie while you walk/run/hike/bike. You can even install other exercise apps like Peloton! The steps here in this video just show you how to fully utilize your display so you can get the best experience possible.

Hi Denise, there are many of us that are not happy with NordicTrack/iFIT's decision to lock down privileged mode. I understand why they want to lock it down as their platform barely supports iFIT. Why would they want customers to have other options? The less people that access privileged mode, the more paying iFIT customers.

Thank you for this! IFit tried auto updating the other day and I was able to catch it in time and stop it. I just updated the security settings you suggested to avoid that happening again. I think it's ridiculous that they are trying to control something I bought and own and should be able to use as I want.

Thank you!!! The Story I could bore you with... My dealings with the retailer when I first got my elliptical in 2017.. Days hours on the phone.. and multiple people... In the end Icon Fitness blames the retailer that they advertised incorrectly.. Because the description advertised in detail that this machine had an android device that alled you to browse the internet and stream your shows from all the apps. Icon told me none of thier machines had this ability!!! That the retailer was incorrect. Yet I knew the retailer got the info directly from the Manufacturer NordicTrack! I felt like I was in the twilight zone! I I've finally exited today!!!

General comment about blocking since I see some replies in my email that aren't showing up here. No router is capable of blocking access to any "named" domain if the request is coming through an TLS encrypted tunnel over resolved IP addresses. Every router is different. Some will let you block websites (not just IP's), but again, only the parts that aren't already encrypted. So, if you do have a router that lets you block a custom domain list, then make sure DNS is part of that so nothing can even be initiated; once IP's are resolved and the TLS tunnel is built, no router can block a specific site by name.

Hi Andee, hopefully the steps outlined in this video will get you back to accessing privileged mode without a code. If for some reason iFIT pushes an update and knocks you back to square one, not to worry... Just took delivery of my S22i and I am loving your videos. Very helpful. Privileged mode worked right away on my new machine. I have not run into this issue yet.

Hermit, the act of turning off and on your machine alone won't remove privileged mode. It is when the iFit admin gets updated that your privileged mode access is prohibited.
I lost it too. I made a list from the video so I wouldn't miss a step. I set unknown sources off and password. Did first upgrade and ok until repowered. They. May have blocked by changing the upgrade. Also, checked for upgrades again and there was a second one. I did not install.

Essentially, you will be factory resetting your machine and then will have to block the iFIT websites that push the updates. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the privileged mode is for the Android tablet on your NordicTrack and not for iFit app, iFIt is just an app that runs on your Android tablet. Privileged mode is an Android feature specifically for Android developer's used.

Thanks for the comments Fred. It is a shame that NordicTrack/iFIT is shutting down privileged mode for many of us. I do understand their bottom dollar is to promote iFIT paid memberships and to do that they have to remove any environment that may allow for other apps to flourish. Can you imagine if they had to compete with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, TH-cam, and even Peloton? They would lose quite a few of their returning paying customers.

I’m considering getting an i14 but agitated by this iFit lock-in. This video seems to be about six months old so I assume it may not apply.
Should I abort and get a different treadmill? I like the cushion on the i14. It would be great to watch TH-cam on the screen. But if they keep just locking it down, I’m not sure it is worth the hassle.

Hi Eric, you are correct. When this video was posted, NordicTrack/ProForm had not pushed the latest iFit updates. Now we need to be a bit more ingenious to thwart their efforts to lock down our machines.
Not to worry...I have a neat little trick that will allow you to gain back control and allow easy access to privileged mode. You'll be able to watch TH-cam whenever you fancy.

I just checked and YES, you have it. Here is what I read...

...reset the console to the factory default settings. IMPORTANT: Doing this will erase all of the custom settings you have made to the console. Resetting the console requires two people. First, press the power switch into the off position. Next, locate the small reset opening on the top of the console. Using a bent paper clip, press and hold the reset button inside the opening, and have a second person press the power switch into the on (reset) position. Continue holding the reset button until the console turns on. When the reset operation is complete, the console will turn off and then turn back on. If it does not, use the power switch to turn the treadmill off and then on again. Once the console turns on, check for firmware updates (see step 5 on page 26). Note: It may take a few minutes for the console to be ready for use.

Quick update. The version of Android on this device does not seem to have the unknown sources setting. I did a search in settings. There is something similar. “Install unknown apps” and it lives under Settings > Apps & notifications > Special app access. When I go there “Browser” is currently Allowed. Not sure if that should be disabled or if that’s a different setting. It looks like the Android OS updated with the iFIT update. It’s currently at Android 9.0. IFIT version 2.6.77.3417.

As for the Unknown Sources. Not to worry about that. I believe the newer machines have it set to default so you need not worry. If for some reason it was not set correctly, when you try to install something, you would get a pop up asking you if you want to allow unknown sources. YOu would then have the option of enabling it. Doesn't seem to work on all devices. Got a new elliptical, and the option to stop installs from unknown sources isn't there. Additionally, putting a pass code on it made it just boot to a black screen. Careful, everyone
Hi Brandon, sorry I didn't respond sooner. Have been dealing with kidney stones and sometimes the pain is almost unbearable. Hoping these stones head on out (of my body) soon. You make several good points. First let's talk about the Unknown Sources option. The newer machines don't always come configured to show the Unknown Sources option. Not to worry as the newer machines also come configured with unknown sources enabled. The great thing is even if for some reason your machine has unknown sources disabled, when you go to install an app, the Android operating system will automatically prompt you and ask if you want to enable unknown sources. SO either way, you will be good to go.

At the time this video was posted, the info was up to date, but now, with all of the iFit patches that have been pushed to our machines, you need to take a different approach in order to access privileged mode. So I had the commercial x11i nordictrack treadmill but to reset you had to turn the power switch off and then turn it on and press the the reset button while its turning on, if you wanna make sure you get access to privledge mode you had to make sure to not set the internet, as when I reset I still had to call but when I didnt set my internet I was able to access privledge mode, hope this is helpful to anyone this has this model as I couldn't find anything

Silly questions. Do I want to stay in privilege mode after installing the taskbar and streaming apps? If I do a factory reset now will I lose my streaming apps again? My Ifit app is stuck on the “train harder and smarter” promo screen and never gets to the login screen with the available workouts (machine is an RW600)
Hi Meredith. If you have both the taskbar and streaming apps installed, then most likely you only have temporary access to privileged mode...just long enough to install an app or two.

If you are having issues with your display being stuck, I would do a factory reset and then proceed with the Permanent Privileged Mode (PPM) hack to do away with any addiitional bloatware. You can then just install the apps you want.

Thanks for your videos. Android 9.0 is a bit tricky, but if you don’t connect to the internet, enter privileged mode, connect to the internet in android, then power cycle the machine, when iFIT restarts, just hit “getting started” and then quickly hit “use without wifi” it will bypass the software update, and connect to the internet when the app loads. I’ve been able to use the old version of iFIT and remain in privileged mode.
Thanks Mark. This is good news as I just checked my X22i and lo and behold iFIT pulled a fast one and updated my machine and now that stinkin' code is back! I have a new video coming out today where I talk about this and what to do if you are one of the unlucky ones.

I've been trying, I can get it into admin mode as soon as it's reloaded but as soon as I connect it updates and reverts.
Update, I did exactly that and bypassed connecting. If you do this and then connect to the wifi it is working and staying in admin mode
@@Patmatrick1 I did this, in conjunction with going into "App & notifications" > "Special app access" > "Wi-Fi Control" > "iFit" > "Allow app to control Wi-Fi" - Disabled. All this will work for a while, but based on my experience, it will still update. Particularly if you leave your console on after using it.

I just called NT and asked for the Privilege Mode codes, and they would not provide the 6 digits. I was smoked! This requires you only to use the machine in manual mode or iFit mode. They need to provide another update so we can access the internet and other apps. Won't buy another ND machine ever unless they change this policy. tx for trying though.
Steven, when you call back, you must provide a good enough reason to get the technicians to provide you with the code. Here are some of the responses that would be considered a valid reason.
-- Need to factory reset my machine so I can sell it to someone else. Want to make certain all my personal information is removed.
-- My iFIT software is not working correctly. I cannot search for workout videos. iFIT crashes whenever I try to do a search.
-- My display is acting weird. It is non-responsive. A friend had the same problem and was able to factory reset his machine and all is good again.
-- A coworker had the same issue with iFIT restarting for no reason. Could not use the machine without iFIT restarting. He was instructed to go into privileged mode and was given the code. His treadmill works fine now.

All of the above were actual conversations between customers and NordicTrack/iFIT technicians. Each and every time, the tech provided the customer the code to get into privileged mode.

I tried these steps several times with my new NT 2950 Treadmill. Each time I turn on the screen lock with a password or pin. I perform the manual update. After the update iFit loads (or so I believe) and then the screen goes black. It's still powered on and I can hear it running, but it's just a black screen. I let it go over night and it was sill black in the morning. If I reset and don't add the screen lock it updates fine, but it asks for the code to enter privileged mode.

Just bought mine a couple weeks ago. After factory reset and successfully getting into privileged mode, I don't see a toggle for unknown sources. When I search "unknown", all that comes up is to unselect unknown apps from browser. I did this but after manually updating, I get kicked out of privileged mode again. Do I just never update again? What happens when I turn off/ on my X32i treadmill?
Hi brianmaher2008, Here are some answers...
1. Not to worry about unknown sources. If you need to install an application, it will pop up if it is disabled, allowing you to enable it. Also, if you go to privileged mode/settings, you may be able to search for it using the search option.
2. As for never updating again, many of us do not update for fear of losing easy access to privileged mode. If you are OK with the older version of iFit, then staying at the older versions allows for more options when accessing privileged mode.
3. If you turn off your X32i, as long as you have those two iFit websites blocked, you will be oK.
Mine have been locked for a while and now i want to access privileged mode, but does reseting it delete all the apps i have installed before? Cu Id really hate having to download them all over again
Hi Eisa, in order to access privileged mode and have it stay accessible permanently, there are some configurations you have to do. If interested, send me an email to DoctorNT0714@gmail.com and in the subject line write: "Priv-Mode-Help." I will spot your email and reply with a way to unlock your machine permanently. Otherwise, doing a factory reset will delete all the apps you have installed. Doing just a regular reset won't delete the apps.

Hi Celia, even the newer models have the same Android 9 Operating System as current models. There will always be a way to get access to the OS, no matter how many lockdowns iFit tries to push out.
NOTE: Currently only members of my TH-cam channel have access to all the information needed for easy access to privileged mode (Android OS). There are ways around the current lockdowns in place, but only one way to bypass everything and get the smart exercise machine back to its unlocked condition. Using a NT x32i and looks like the updates are installed as soon as you connect to Wi-Fi. I’ve reset the machine 5 or 6 times already and I am unable to use Netflix; the one time I got to settings before the updates I was able to dl Netflix, but I still get “the app is not supported by your device” when trying to launch the app. PLEASE HELP

I have the side reset button on my EXP7i and I followed the steps and it worked, however I was unable to access the iFIT app. I repeated the process and now keep getting asked to call norditrack for access. What am I doing wrong?

Hi AB, Yes, there is a much easier way to deal with all of the lockdowns that have been forced upon us by iFIT. It involves a bit of file manipulation within the software. The video I am referring to is currently only available to members of the TH-cam channel. As a member you pay a nominal fee (99 cents monthly). The reason I made the video private, and only available to members was twofold.
1. Keep the information private. If too many people know about this, then it is possible that another iFIT update could come out that could close this loophole.

Nelson-I hope you can help… This might be a reach in getting an answer from you but an iFit agent directed me to go into privilege mode to fix a Bluetooth issue. Since I did that, I’ve had an incline/resistance problem appear (not physically working), & now the main screen shows I cannot connect to the internet even though it says I’m connected under settings. I’ve done a hard reset and nothing 😭 Do you have any idea on where to start? You know ifit & NT are of no help. Ty so much either way!

Will try this but if it gives me trouble i will get my old tablet out and put it on wifi and place it in front of the screen. Use it for movies, etc. I bought this older proform tour de france exercise bike thinking I could watch movies. Any chance of getting ifit went out the window. Does no good if I cannot watch movies. I have a new 2950 Treadmill. I was able to access privileged mode through this process but only after pausing internet activity for the treadmill on my router. Once in privileged mode, there is no longer an option to stop updates being pushed to the machine! As soon as i unpaused activity for the treadmill - update was installed automatically and privileged mode was off! After tapping to get back in - got the “call customer service for code” came up! Pissed!

Creat-irv, if there is, I have yet to hear from any of the thousands of viewers saying they have cracked the code to find this Android app. There may be dungeons Sbar enough to crack this and produce such an app, but currently, no such app exists.

Hi Joseph, If I am understanding correctly, your treadmill had privileged mode working (enabled). You disabled privileged mode, so essentially your treadmill is back to normal, except for the fact you can't run on the treadmill anymore?
1. Am I to understand that now you no longer have any motivation to run on your treadmill because you no longer have privileged mode enabled?
2. Do you mean that your treadmill is now malfunctioning, thus you can no longer run on it?
3. The belt no longer moves?

I tried this on my almost new Proform 5000. Reset, get into Privilege mode, add the TH-cam. It worked. But as soon as I restart the machine (update one version). I can’t get into Privilege mode again. My machine was working until about 4 days ago after I updated the version sent by IFIT. Any tips?

Hi labelleza, I checked your user's manual and found this...
If the console does not boot up properly, or if the console freezes and does not respond, reset the console to the factory default settings. IMPORTANT: Doing this will erase all custom settings you have made to the console. Resetting the console requires two people. First, unplug the power adapter. Next, locate the small reset opening on the side or the back of the console. Using a bent paper clip, press and hold the reset button inside the opening, and have a second person plug in the power adapter. Continue holding the reset button until the console turns on. When the reset operation is complete, the console will turn off and then turn back on. If it does not, unplug and then plug in the power adapter. Once the console turns on, check for firmware updates (see HOW TO CHANGE CONSOLE SETTINGS on page 21). Note: It may take a few minutes for the console to be ready for use.
Did reset and my machine updated automatically then it was the newest app version. So frustrated! How can I stop the update after doing the update.

Not to worry Manas. You actually do not want to disable Unknown Sources. And if for some reason you cannot see Unknown Sources, not to worry. If and when you get ready to install some apps, if you need to enable Unknown Sources, it will pop up and prompt you.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Quick update, I exactly did that and then went ahead and installed Netflix from both looging into Netflix through browser and clicking on help link that directed me to a download link, this netflix was apparently not compatible. For the second attempt i searched through apk pure and downloaded apk there, this time it kept saying there was some error and threw me a code. Now interestingly, when i restarted the machine, Nordic Track updated and apparently patched the machine and I lost the privileged mode.

Hi Nelson. Loving the videos. I've completed all the steps you suggested and I can confirm it works on my new X32i Treadmill but if I turn the machine off when finished and turn it back on for my next workout, Privilege mode is deactivated. When I apply the touch sequence again, the treaded code request pops up. This is either telling me, I can't turn off the machine or Icon have blocked it once again.
Ian, when I made this video iFit had not pushed a newer update. Now there are extra steps you must accomplish in order to block iFit updates. See the video series I created to help with these additional steps. You may be able to FF thru some of the info as you already have accomplished most of the steps.

Hello. I accessed privilege mode and turned off machine. When I turned back on it says iFIT not responding and it’s stuck there. Any tips ?
I tried these steps on my s22i and it seemed to work ok until NT had an additional update that seems to be an Android update that reboots the system and removed the Privileged Mode for me. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to disable unknown sources. I'll try that and go through the process again. NT should be ashamed!

-- In the meantime have you tried the method of power cycling your machine? This involves the same steps of factory reset, then setting a password. The difference is after setting the password, you immediately power down your machine. You then power it up and go to privileged mode settings and search for unknown sources. Use the search in the top right. If you can't find it, instead go to Developer options and look for an option dealing with Auto updates. Disable auto updates then immediately power off your machine again. The idea behind power cycling your machine is to disrupt the iFIT updates. If done fast enough it will cause the iFIT app to error out and will corrupt the iFIT routine leaving you with an older yet functioning iFIT.
-- Not the best fix but something you may use until my next video comes out.

@@NelsonMunoz0714 I just added an "EDIT" section to that post about using Meteor Swipe for app switching. Basically, the failed to update dialogs appear to be stacking if they aren't closed and eventually create a really poor experience trying to switch between apps. Adding a non-native app to do the switching has completely mitigated this nuisance for the way I use my machine.

ifit said it would not give me the code but walk through the paperclip restart. They would only give me the code if I was troubleshooting. I said I was and then they said that is not what you said the first time and would not give me the code. What can I say I was troubleshooting to get the code

Thanks for your videos. I’m still having problems . After I reset the machine and log back in .I still get the pop up asking me to call.I have a x-32i from last year. I have tried this 3 times. As soon as I pull the paper clip out of the hole it says erasing . Then updates updating. Then I’m prompted to enter my credentials and then the 10 tap technique just gets me to the same old pop-up what am I doing wrong how can I get my Netflix back. I called them and they didn't help me for another code to enter it and they said you cant use this machine for watching youtube... anymore. My machine has a hole on the side as you mentioned. Shadi, since you have the pinhole, you don't need a password. You can just factory reset your machine and follow these steps. If for some reason the code window comes back up again, then just follow the steps in this video series.

Hi marialenass, that is typical of the reboot process. Depending on what model you have, you may have to try the factory reset again. If by some odd chance it hangs at the iFIT logo again, I would contact NordicTrack/iFIT and have them talk you through it. Good luck, and plz come back and let us know how it went.
If I do this factory setting reset does that means the update that was remembering your previous performance and adjusting the speeds according to your previous exercises will not work?
Endija, the factory reset does not affect any iFit settings that are associated with your login. Hope that answers your question.
I was just getting ready to buy a Nordic track this evening. Now I am not certain what I will buy.
Hi Jimi, make certain to do your homework and weigh the pros and cons of any model you are interested in. NordicTrack and ProForm smart exercise machines are awesome but very proprietary. You may be able to "hack" the display so you can watch other things other than iFit, but it is getting harder and harder to manipulate the settings/configuration since each update locks down the machine. If you want an awesome machine with thousands of video workouts, you can't go wrong with NordicTrack/ProForm. I will do my best to keep providing videos where we can get the very best use experience and are not just limited to iFit.
Amazing what they do to not allow us to use our own device. Should be able to do what I want with this thing.

What if you never had "Enable Unknown Sources" option in your Android version? I just received my X22i on 12/22/2021 and I cannot get Netflix to work. Keep saying not compatible with my device. Plus I have a terrible time with any other app (Hulu, TH-cam, Amazon Video and Music) only being a small screen in the center, and will not go full screen. I have uninstalled apps, re-downloaded them, and had no luck getting anything to work properly. Especially Netflix. I wonder if I should just Factory Reset and start all over?

There are two distinct ways of installing Netflix. The video shows you both ways. Also shows you how to install Amazon Prime Video. Since you have a newer machine you can't use the apk file from Netflix. Hope this helps. As for Unknown Sources, you don't have to enable it, as it will pop up when you install apps, should you need it.

@@NelsonMunoz0714 I've been watching so many videos but not sure so I'll watch now and see if the other methods work. I also had no issues installing Amazon Prime Video and Music, the issue was the screen size. Not being able to Maximize the window to fill the screen for those and other apps. So they install and do work, it just doesn't fill the screen and is basically unusable to navigate. I've tried adjusting all display options in android as well as the apps. No luck :(

-- As for your question, check to see how you have your display screensaver configured. You may be able to tweak the screensaver so it doesn't kick in so quickly.
-- That being said, if your machine display goes black the only way to get back in is to power cycle on/off. The Android operating system assumes the tablet has a physical button you can depress that would wake up the display. Since NordicTrack uses generic Android software, it is not specifically configured for a smart exercise machine. Instead iFIT is the way the software "talks" to the machine. The Android desktop is not really meant to be a user interface for us to interact with the machine.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Hi Nelson, scratch all of that. I jumped on the treadmill and i was locked out of privedged mode again. I has put a pin and on the 2950 you have to turn off allow unknown sources specifically for the "browser" app, which i did also and im locked out again. it seems to happen every time i go from factory settings to updating the ifit app (with both of those things in place first like your video), when i restart it, it worked. a couple of days later. locked out again!!

Almost everything worked for me after the reset, but once I did all the steps except 4 (with newer machine) I don't have that option to turn on or off disable unknown sources. I updated and privilege mode no longer allowed in back to needing to contact Nordictrack or whomever.
Nico, there are updated steps in my BATTLE FOR PRIVILEGED MODE video series. Essentially you'll need to block certain websites which will in turn stop NordicTrack/iFIT auto updates.

Unfortunately, the Android 9 version I have doesn't have an option for "Unknown Sources" (even following general guides for Android 9) but may try disabling iFit from being able to modify system settings if there's any other issues in the future but for now, I'm updated and in privilege mode :D
I really don't understand why they even list the Android version in their specs if they don't want you to use it... There's really no point to even having a screen if iFit is literally the only thing you can do with it. I wish stuff like this fell into the 'right to repair' act or we get something else similar but more for this stuff, soon.
Hi CP, not to worry about Unknown Sources as when you go to install additional apps like Netflix, or any other apps, if Unknown Sources is not enabled, it will prompt you to enable it. Another thing you can do is go into privileged mode and then settings. From the settings menu in the top right there is a search option. You can search for Unknown Sources to see if you can access it this way. Again, if the search does not work, it is not something major as most likely our machines come with Unknown Sources enabled; and if by chance it is not enabled, for certain when you go to install something, it will pop up and ask you if you want to enable unknown sources.

As for the Right to Repair, I too wish that iFIT would relent and stop pushing updates that essentially restrict our options. We will see what the future holds. Here's hoping they give up on this path and eventually give us back true ownership of our machines.
My ifit app is acting funny the created map route im making is only mapping half the entire run ,. Im curious about doing the factory reset in the privledged mode but unsure if i wanna do this.. Will it remove the Ifit app will i be able to start up the machine as normal?
Hi Benjamin, not to worry. If you factory-reset your machine, it will be as if your machine was brand new again. You'll have to log back in to your machine, but afterwards hopefully you won't have any problems mapping your runs.

Ben, I have heard from numerous subscribers/members that they too are having problems with workouts cutting off before the end. There seems to be quite a bit of traffic saying that iFit is aware of the issue and is planning an update in the near future. Make certain to report the issue using the iFit application, this way you will get an immediate automated reply from iFit/NordicTrack and then you will have ammunition to back you up of all the times this has happened. In your communication, make certain to demand compensation in the form of at least one full additional year of iFit. There is absolutely no reason we as customers should not have a smart exercise machine that works as advertised. Good Luck.
Somehow ifit applies the update. I set the pin and set outside sources to off. Has anyone else experienced this? Any known fixes? Also, if it kept saying that another update was available and that update is what would lock the privileged mode, so I never updated. But this morning, when I turned the machine on, privileged mode was gone and it asked for a code.

-- In the meantime have you tried the method of power cycling your machine? This involves the same steps of factory reset, then setting a password. The difference is after setting the password, you immediately power down your machine. You then power it up and go to privileged mode settings and search for unknown sources. Use the search in the top right. If you can't find it, instead go to Developer options and look for an option dealing with Auto updates. Disable auto updates then immediately power off your machine again. The idea behind power cycling your machine is to disrupt the iFIT updates. If done fast enough it will cause the iFIT app to error out and will corrupt the iFIT routine leaving you with an older yet functioning iFIT.

If I go buy a new nordictrack with the new version of Ifit will I be able to get into privilege mode? In theory, my factory reset will be with the version of ifit that caused you to lose your privilege mode?
plockwood82, that is an excellent question, and honestly I don't know the answer. It is possible that a factory reset loads an earlier version that will allow easy access to Privileged Mode, but then again maybe not. Luckily there are other ways to gets around this.

1. You are connected to the internet and that your Peloton app has permissions to access the web.
2. I remember someone else having connect issues and they had to go into settings or security to give permission to the Web Browser?
3. Also make certain the Peloton app you downloaded works with your version of Android. Plz come back and let us know if you were successful.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Yes, I'm certain I'm connected to the WIFI. The app definitely has permission to the web. It was working, I did a class and then the next morning all the apps weren't connecting to the web and were saying connection error. I made sure to download the correct app which for my bike is 5.1.10. Trust me I've watched all your videos which have helped so much but I think there is something going that's blocking their access to the connection, because the IFIT still works.
Ana, I would try uninstalling Peloton and then one more try, reinstall it. See if that clears out any issues. Wish I had something more concrete, but Peloton has been known to cause issues with connectivity. Whenever in doubt, I too have reinstalled apps and they sometimes work for no apparent reason. Let me know what you decide...

Thanks again for your instruction how to get back the privileged mode. I called right after watching your video and after a long wait and questions why I wanted the privileged mode, they finally gave me the code. They did warn me that if I use Netflix, youtube, etc, they might harm my machine and they won't be able to help me. I just said, "I understand and thank you for the warning". They offered to stick around to help me with my settings but I declined the offer and hung up.
I have a new question for you. In Trusted Credentials, I tapped on Display Trusted CA Certificates and all certificates are enabled. I started disabling them, but there's a lot more. Do you know if there's a way to disable them in bulk? .
Hi Hermie, glad you were able to get the code for privileged mode. I have heard from numerous subscribers/viewers that it is getting increasingly harder to get the code. Those with newer machines that have the factory reset pinhole are fortunate as they don't have to go thru the hassle of phoning NordicTrack/iFit.
As for disabling Trusted certificates in bulk, I do not know of a way to do that? Have you looked at developer options to see if there is anything there? Can i ask why you are disabling them? Is it to block websites?

Hey mate. Do you ever turn your treadmill off? Every time I do it gets rid of privileged mode and I have to do everything again, as well as download all my apps, and it’s really annoying. What do you do?
Hey Joe, I have heard from several viewers that have the same problem. Unfortunately, this is not a reportable issue as it does not interfere with iFIT.
-- Have you tried factory resetting your machine to see if that helps? What model do you have? I work as a computer engineer in my "other" job and this sounds as if you only have read permissions on your machine so that every time you power off/on it does not keep your changes.
-- Are you able to get iFIT updates? Check to see what the iFIT app version is and also what version of Android you have.
If you are having issues with iFIT, you may be able to contact NordicTrack and have them replace your hard drive. That would fix your issue. Plz come back and let us know...

If you go to the android settings (not ifit settings) >security and pick the first option, which should be to set up a pin, ifit cannot erase your data because they need your code. @@devmishra6064, I am familiar with this video as I helped him to get his machine back to privileged mode. Several of my videos talk about setting a password/pin. This seems to help with older machines. Not certain if the newer Android 9 machines are able to get into privileged mode.

I presume the Priviledged Mode Block is in a recent iFit update. Thus, I don't understand what the factory reset and unknown sources off steps are for, if in the end, we go ahead search for and and install the most recent update for our machine. I really don't understand which of the steps you describe takes away the Priviledged Mode Block and how it does it (since we are installing all available updates).

So just did this 2 days ago on my 1750. It all worked. Today the IFit froze and I couldn't touch anything, turned it off and on and needed a privilege mode code again
Also just did it again. Google play store is not on the machine nor will it allow you to download apps from the Google play website.
I wasn't able to watch Netflix because Netflix requires the app to be used and since you can't download from the store, no Netflix.
I was able to watch Disney plus, but came back an hour later to try and use it again and when switching apps back to IFit, the whole thing froze again
Jordan, there have been several updates pushed out by NordicTrack/ProForm/iFit since this video was posted. In order to bypass the Privileged Mode Code and install apps like Netflix, you need to make a few changes to your machine. Send an email to DoctorNT0714@gmail.com and in the Subject line write: 1750-HELP.
I'll be certsin to spot your email among the rest and reply ASAP with info that will give you back control of your machine.
Jordan, you are correct. No Google Play services on the scaled-down version of Android. Instead we have to use sites like APK Pure and APK Mirror.

Anthony, that is a solid NO. I have not found any way to update the version of Android running on the machine. I believe it is tied to the model and hardware. I have spoken to many subscribers on this subject, much smarter than me and this is not something anyone has been able to crack.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 If the concern about updating Android relates to security .... if you do a vulnerability scan on your console, it will come up with nothing (try it). The console doesn't listen on any IP ports.

Not sure what equipment you have, but after doing this many times I realized if I was in the right position I could flip the power switch with my toe while pushing (and holding) the pinhole reset.

tinseldoll, you are correct. But rather than leave it on all the time, when you go to install other apps, your machine will prompt you to enable unknown sources. Good catch!
I got a version with the pinhole, got it in privilege mode, set a pin, tried installing different types of apks for TH-cam and Netflix but all of them say force close, and do not actually run. I am however able to watch TH-cam via the browser but Netflix videos are not loading via the browser (it looks like it gets close when showing desktop site but stays loading forever. Haven’t waited long enough to see if it actually plays after some time). It is on android 9. Any clue on the force closing on apps?
small update after messing with it forever, I was able to get Netflix, Amazon Prime, Twitch working by simply getting the latest iterations on apkpure, Twitch I had to find another site since I couldnt figure out how to install xAPK, but TH-cam, HBO Max, and Hulu I think depend on the Google Play Services so it gives an error and doesn't let you either sign in or even open the app, if you happen to know a way around this let me know! I did however see that TH-cam worked on the browser and saw the shortcut you made so thank you! I also just set it as my browser homepage which helps to simply just open and always have it at the page.

ryovela, looks as if you were able to figure out the issue. Sometimes it takes trial and error to get everything to work. Glad you have not been kicked out of privileged mode like others.
Thanks for stopping by again and leaving comments that are much appreciated. Glad you were able to figure out how to install the apk files for Netflix and the others. As for TH-cam, HBO, Hulu, and some others, they will not work as they require Google Play Services. I did see where several viewers were able to play around with Google Play Services and installed them, but eventually had issues with the services shutting down and causing their machines to hang. There was one subscriber that actually got Hulu working by continuously hitting OK on the Google Play Services stopped window. It was not perfect, but she did get Hulu working. I have not been able to duplicate her success.

Yes sir, so after rebooting while holding down the reset button it automatically boots up and asks for wifi, after wifi it automatically starts updating ifit however as soon as it started I did the 10 taps, 7s, 10 taps and went to the settings and set a pin before the update was able to finish downloading and installing. Once it finished the updates the privilege mode remained.
ryovela, happy to hear a success story for a change. There are so many folks that are being shut out of privileged mode. Glad you were able to gain access. I too still have privileged mode enabled and keeping my fingers crossed that it will stay like that.

Hi Nelson, Could you please help me finding the reset pinhole on x32i. Machine is about 3 months old and I can see two pinholes on both side of the camera right on the bezel. I tried inserting pin in both but it doesn't work.

On my model X32i (purchased dec 2020) The reset pinhole is on the right side of the machine, next to speed number 12. Hope this helps.

If you enter your model name and number you will have access to a user's manual that should provide you with a drawing and steps on how to find your factory reset pinhole.

@@NelsonMunoz0714 Thank you very much. I did the factory reset. During the boot process I saw an update being applied to the machine. Now my machine is at Android 9.0. I managed to get into the privileged mode and applied the screen lock but unable to find untrusted sources option. IFit automatically got updated and I lost the privileged mode again. I have tried the procedure 3/4 times but I lose the access to the privilege mode every time when ifit updates.
Is there any solution to this issue or I'm the only one?

Hi Nelson, I’m on Android 7, reset button on top of the console.
If I get the Privilege Code from IFIT, to avoid a factory reset and lose the settings I already done, do the password and unknown sources step, should that stay the same or is a factory reset definitely the key here? Thanks
Factory reset worked for me, but there are some folks that are experiencing the issue soon afterwards. Factory reset can't hurt because it gets your machine back to its original state (nice and clean). You may need to configure your router as well, to block certain iFIT websites, but I'd try the steps in this video first.

Added password and unticked Unknown sources as advised.
I’ve then turned off and on the machine.
It asked for password to start Android.
Then Desktop screen appeared with a lock on.
Asked to scroll up to unlock and at this point asked to enter password again.
Once in, back to IFIT screen only, Privilege Mode disappeared ☹️
@@2005lesea, try the factory reset again, but make certain to power off/ power on if it tries to update. Eventually it won't try to update as you will get past that sequence with an error. Error won't affect you but will inhibit the iFit update for a time. Long enough for you to regain a stable system with Privileged Mode. Good luck.
You must do a factory reset in order to clear out the Privileged Mode code.
I called Nordic Track and they will not give me the priviledge code unless you have issues with your bike.
Lana, YES, that is correct. In order to get a code, you must tell them you are having issues with your iFit software. A typical issue that may users experience is when iFit constantly reboots itself. Another way to get a code is to let NordicTrack/iFit know you are selling your machine and want to delete all your personal information from the machine, to include any iFit membership info. The only way to do that is to do a factory reset. They will provide you with the code for that purpose. Once you have the code and do a factory reset, if you change your mind about selling your machine, that is your prerogative. ☺

Brian, I believe it does. iFIT should be forced to provide us with the information to access privileged mode so we can "repair" our own machines. Here is a good article on "Right to Repair."

@@NelsonMunoz0714 Thank you. I believe that your article got omitted or filtered out. I had made an extensive post earlier that doesn't show up. I went into detail about the difficulties I was having trying to solve the problems on the x32i with audio/video sync on the iFit workouts over Bluetooth. I've had nothing but trouble with this unit. I believe the primary reason they are blocking access to privileged mode is because it complicates life for their tech support staff. I'm glad that folks have been able to have some success in running whatever they want on their own property, but it seems to me that the tablet these units are based on can barely run the 'official' iFit app. Sideloading has never been a goal for me, but it should be available if I wanted it. All of the Bluetooth settings should be exposed; this is the primary reason I have to keep entering PM - to pair earbuds/headphones. Even if a keygen is developed, NT will keep changing the algorithm. Getting them to back down on this policy is the only real answer, and they are unlikely to do so. I have a lesser NT unit that uses whatever Android tablet you own to control the treadmill. Last time I checked, it didn't have any of these problems. In over half a century, I have never dealt with a more uncaring and despicable company.

Hi, I just received my 2950 treadmill yesterday. I tried to get into privleged mode and needed The Code. I called support, and was told that people were inadvertantly installing apps with viruses, and then asking support to help them out. The rep said that voids the warranty, so they opted to totally restrict their users from privileged mode and will continue to find ways to do that. She did say that it is likely that a future software update will add a cast to TV function. I look forward to trying your fix. Thanks
Hi Mark, you are going to get a myriad of responses from NordicTrack reps to dissuade you from accessing privileged mode. Regardless, if you want to access privileged mode on your machine, you should be able to, as long as you are aware you may be voiding your warranty.

All of the above were actual conversations between customers and NordicTrack/iFIT technicians. Each and every time, the tech provided the customer the code to get into privileged mode.

I am embarrassed for NordicTrack. I must be stressful to be a support representative knowing that you are lying to customers that you are supposed to be helping.
Hi brent22z, I used to be a customer rep for Target and you just read from a prepared script most of the times. NordicTrack/iIFT reps have strict rules in place where they do not offer up any information on privileged mode unless it is to fix an issue with your machine. I can count on one hand the times I have received instructions from a technician telling me to go into privileged mode. And now with this new code in place, it will be very few and far between when a tech provides the code to get into privileged mode. They are supposed to ask you why you want the code and may not give you the 6-digit code if you do not have enough of a reason. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! You may not be able to get into privileged mode on your own machine. LOL

Then ifit could be completely disabled by denying write access to the app
@@sachinoob9209, I wish such an app existed, unfortunately iFIT is a proprietary software developed specifically to work with their machines. I have read about really smart tech folks that have rooted their machines and have been able to control the speed of the belt but in the process have hosed their machine. We can always use iFIT in manual mode and run other apps in the background. Just a matter of figuring out how to block iFIT from updating our machines. I'm working on a video to do just that. Hope to have it out soon.

Mark, not to worry. Try going to Settings and search for Unknown Sources using the 🔍magnifying 🔎glass in the top right corner. Plz come back and let us know if this helps.
I did the factory reset, but once I tried to get back into PM the window to call NT popped up... anybody else having this issue?

Thank you for posting this video, I am livid that ifit thinks they can hold the treadmill hostage. I tried following the steps to do a factory reset twice on my newer commercial 1750 and it opens with a screen saying retry, i move past it and it shows me the welcome screen where I enter my wifi, metrics and timezone again but when it finally get to the ifit home screen where i tap to bring up the privileged mode, it still shows me the code and number to call. I’ve tried this twice and wondering what might be happening. Can you offer any insight? Thanks!

Skip all the initial setup, you can access the initial app as a guest with out internet access. Once at the standard ifit page (guest) access privileged mode as you normally would. From there go Into Android settings then connect to your wifi and follow the video instructions.

I found that updating ifit, still caused issues, so I've left my machine on the original software version. It doesn't auto update and privileged remains after turning the machine off. Assuming ifit continues on the current path, I would say never update its only a matter of time before they patch any avenue of keeping privileged mode.
If I do this while I lose my iFit??
Hi Noelle, you won't lose your iFIT. This will only provide you with additional options like installing Netflix so you can watch a show or movie while you walk/run/hike/bike. You can even install other exercise apps like Peloton! The steps here in this video just show you how to fully utilize your display so you can get the best experience possible.

Matias, try it again. The penguin is probably representative of a Linux operating system. Either you have a very old system or it is not a NordicTrack/ProForm?
