Thanks a lot, I just changed the light on my 2010 grand caravan. I would not have tried it if I hadn't had a video to show me how. The two screws that actually hold the light onto the trim were rusted beyond recognition but I just drilled them out/broke them off and used a couple of 1/2 inch long Philips head screws.
accidentally used the garage door to rip ours off. I then stupidly glued it back on, only to have it fall off somewhere on the highway. Ordered one from a parts store and ended up paying $75 bucks. this video took all the guess work out and with a little help from my wife, it was easy to replace. thanks for posting this video, Art. you not only saved us money, but made it simple.
Great video. I have a 2010 dodge caravan and it was pretty much spot on EXCEPT for the back door "pistons", they did not come in contact with that plastic trim around the rear window so I was able to completely remove the trim from window. I also did not have to disconnect rear window sprayer hose, there's enough play in it to leave connected and get the job done. Light was $35 at autozone (in stock too). Very easy do-able job. Thanks again, videos like this make TH-cam great...
Excellent video!!! Most times it can take hours to figure out how to take things apart. With your video I could see exactly how to take it apart and fix it. What would have taken me three hours to figure out took me an hour. It would have taken 40 minutes but I had to drill out the rotted screws that held the light onto the spoiler. Thanks!!!

Excellent video. Thank you. The only thing I would change is you indicated that the trim piece could not be taken off due to the power liftgate motor attachment bar. You can unattach that liftgate bar from the liftgate ball stud by inserting a small screwdriver into the cap at various points where you will see a tiny slot and popping outward that cap. This allows the bar to be released from the ball stud by giving it a strong pull away from the liftgate. The trim piece can then be totally removed to avoid damage to it during the rest of the procedure that you nicely explained. I hope my description here is clear enough. Please note: Dodge says to disconnect the negative battery cable whenever messing with the power liftgate motor but I believe removing the fuse that feeds the power liftgate would be sufficient. Removing the fuse that feeds the center mounted stop lamp (indicated by CHMSL in the fuse box or something like that) is also recommended when replacing the lamp described in this video.
In case you brake the white clips they are not sold by Dodge. You can get them at Pep Boys it is part number 963-220 made by Dorman. They were a snug fit but worked great.
Worked very well, only snag was I snapped that plastic piece up top when removing the spoiler but it doesn't seem to be an absolutely necessary piece. Took 20 mins or so.Thanks!
thank you. that was excellent tutorial. I just bought from rock auto the tailgate light. one of the 2 bolt 10mm started to spin. managed to use vise grip on bolt and remove with 10mm open ratchet and installing back I used electrical tape on bolt as gasket to stop from spinning. also the 5.5mmx2 on lens was all corroded. I removed and used regular screw and washer. works perfect. thanks again for inspiring video
Wow! Just got a newer van 2013 GC SXT and the spoiler was held on by one bolt screw. I panicked at first, but now I see and understand how to safely remove and either repair or replace the spoiler. A thousand thanks for the video. Panic over.Whew!
O'Reilly had the part in stock for $39 and some. If you don't have a deep #10 metric socket and a #7 metric socket, you should not start this project. It sure helps to have the right tools.
Good information. The video made me kinda sea sick. You still get an upvote. Chrysler really dropped the ball on this one. They could have designed something with a screw on each side that can be accessed from the outside.

My back spoiler on my 2014 mini van, came of today. I am not sure how to put it on, and replace the pegs. I thought I could do it. Is there another video that shows you what to do???

I disagree. I hate videos that show the person turning every screw. I know which way to turn the screwdriver and I don't need a 20 minute video to do a 10 minute job.
i thought this was a good video and followed all of the instructions. I made sure to tighten everything down when putting the spoiler back on. Then today the spoiler flew off on the highway, lost to the wilderness. I have no clue how that could have happened. I didn't overtighten the nuts to where they would have broke the plastic. Not sure where to go from here. I can find a replacement spoiler at the junkyard but nervous to lose it again.
They couldn't just put in a screw on each side of the brake light assembly so we can change the bulb(s) and buy a $3 bulb like the good old days? Sheesh :-D

Do you know how many clips on the spoiler, 4 screws, can't figure out how many clips to replace?

I did think of that but I didnt know if the liftgate would stay up without it attached
The liftgate stays up with the liftgate struts.

one point the lift arm can be removed easily by popping the cap cover off and slip it it off so the molding can come completely off ....

do you have to replace the whole brake light unit or may you replace a light bulb instead?
You must replace the entire light. The bulb is non replaceable.
I just spent close to$ 50......@auto zone....wow...guess I paid to much.....I wish it was just a bulb that n needed to be replaced.
u r right - now vehicles r designed so you have to go to a shop and shell out a lot of money for the repair smh

5 mm worked for me. Have to scrape the rust off first.
