Some people have a natural knack for teaching and you're one of them. This video was the perfect pace, focused on the right things, interposed things to be aware of going forward, wasn't rushed - I wish you produced videos for all makes and models. You made this R&R completely stress-free. Can't thank you enough!
Many many thanks. The feedback is always appreciated. I try to keep upping my game with each video. Glad to see that viewers appreciate the time spent making these videos. Thanks again and make sure to subscribe and check out some on my newer videos.
Wife and I watched video 1 &2 together. We started at 9:05 am this morning. She did the bolts and I took care of clamps and plugs. She was filling the radiator with new fluid by 10:15. We can’t thank you enough. We pray blessing on you and your family.
David, thank you so very much for this video. It made replacing the radiator in my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan extremely easy. Without the video I am not sure I would have ever finished the job. You are very clear and understandable and the video shots are excellent. Thank you again and please keep up the marvelous work.
Hi, I'm a retired Master Mechanic myself but took advantage of your R&R video on this one. Helped me in knowing some of the shortcuts and tricks Dodge Mechanics use to GET PAID more than book time by shortening the process as much as possible. Knocked out the whole job in less than 2 hours. I still got it! :D My 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan needs to have the rear valve cover gasket changed out. Losing me a quart every 1500 miles or so. The front one was obviously changed by the previous owner but I recon the rear was too expensive or troublesome to do. Anyway, it's gotta be done. I'm considering removing the cowling to access the rear bank's top end. I know I can also remove the intake and get at it that way but what a pain in the ars to R&R including all the extra replacement parts. Like they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! ;) I believe the PCV valve hasn't ever been changed either and it's hose is dry rotted and brittle anyway. I think it's also causing a slightly rough idle too. Kind of missing when it's idling at around 650 RPM in gear no A/C running. Smoother idle when A/C is running but RPM's are up to as high as 850 when A/C and cooling fan are active. What steps would you recommend to change out the rear valve cover gasket etc. without too much hassle and extra parts? Your tutorials are excellent! Keep up the good work! Thank you! Sparky
My folks came in from SC and their van was leaking from the radiator. Being that I never worked on this van, I found your video. Your step-by-step instructions were spot on. It probably would have taken me a lot longer hadn't I watched your video. Thanks so much and keep doing what you're doing.
David, last time I saw you, you had 30K subscribers, and now I see you have a much much more! You deserve it. Your videos are easy to follow because they're very detailed and thorough. Thank you and congratulations!
Your 2-part tutorial to do this procedure was EXCELLENT! For those doing this in the future watch this ENTIRE video (parts 1&2) and you are covered. FYI /Tips: If you have that horizontal "cooling line" across the bottom of the radiator (it's mentioned in the video) it can be a bit annoying to disconnect and reattach. Also when reinstalling the new radiator make sure it's seated all the way forward and retained under the top cross-member. Again, excellent video!
Did this job today. It was EXACTLY as you described on my 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan with 3.8L. Thanks for uploading such clear instructions five years ago. LOL
I used your video to replace my radiator on the morning of July 4th. I am not a mechanic, but you gave great instructions and clear information. I changed my radiator, I'm so proud and relieved. I didn't know what we were going to do. We really are not in a financial position to pay a mechanic. Your video helped us out big time! Thank you and God Bless You!
Awesome, thats what I like to hear....people saving money and getting their vehicle back on the road. Thanks for the follow up and comment. Now you have more knowledge about your vehicle and the confidence to take on other tasks if needed. Dont forget to subscribe to the channel as well.
I just wanted to tell you that this video worked for me step for step. Didnt have the right tools for some parts but I managed to get it done. Thank you very much and keep up the great work!!!
Hi Dave, Your video and explanations were excellent. I really appreciated it. Canadian tire wanted $700 plus tax. I bought rad $125 after market and me and my buddy did exactly how your tutorial video showed. God bless u my friend. 😉
Great video, good detail and explaining the connectors for the fan as well as the other connectors and how they work! I replaced a radiator on a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. Taking off the front bumper I recommend which makes accessing the lower power steering line snap brace much easier to get to. Thanks!
Great videos. I watched both videos before getting started. Then I just set my iPad under the hood, where it would be out of my way, and was able to play and pause the videos as I went along. I did have to put a mirror on those bottom clips to see what I was feeling around for, but I finally got them loose. You were not kidding about using a pair of angled needle nose pliers. I need to get a pair. First radiator I have ever pulled. You made it easier than I thought it would be. Thank you so much.
You guys were a life saver. Was given bad information about pulling cooler fan out of car, people said just pull it out. They didn't tell me about clips I had to push.
Thanks for the vid ! I bought a 08 T&C 2 days ago and needed a radiator and this vid made my life much easier ! I would have had a hard time without it. One vid i started to watch the guy to the entire bumper cover off/ I wasn't trying to go that route. Thanks again !!!
Doing this for the first time, i found this was the best instructional video i have ever seen! Start to finish took me one and a half. great job explaning steps so simple people can understand!!!! THANKS AGAIN
Thats awesome Sean! I owe you for finding and watching. These videos dont mean anything unless someone watches and uses the information. The fact that you did means alot. I have the best viewers by far. I also appreciate you subscribing!
Man, I can’t tell you how AWESOME this video was. Very detailed, very thorough. Took me about an hour to get my radiator out. Biggest problem I had was the squeeze tabs for the power steering line in front of the condenser. I had to get mine from underneath. Either way, I’ll be checking your videos from now on (as long as we have our Grand Caravan, I mean).
Glad to see that it all went well! Appreciate you reaching out to let me know how it went. I certainly have many more related videos so dont forget to subscribe
thanks so much for this video.. I probably couldn't have done it without it. The hardest part is getting those bottom clips that connect the power steering line. The important thing is to make sure you separate the AC cooler from the radiator (lift up on both sides and separate). Complete job took about 4 hours, but I spent an hour messing with those bottom clips. Btw, local dealership wanted about $800 to do the job. Local auto parts store wanted $225 for the radiator. Ebay sells them new for $50. So if you buy the radiator on ebay, you can watch this video and do it yourself and save $$$
Awesome! I dont know how much faith I have in a $50.00 radiator but time will tell. Its all about knowing the steps and having some basic tools and not being scared of trying. As you saw....its do-able and if you have the free time.....you wallet will thank you. Thats money that can be spent on other important items. Thanks again for the feedback on how it went. Make sure to subscribe and enjoy the weekend.
I just want to say thank you for posting your video. I watch it several times before I did the job, it was very helpful. Thank you!!! Stay safe, stay well!!!
Followed this exactly and worked great for my 2015 sxt flex fuel. The only adjustments I made was to 1. remove the top bracket before removing fan. I couldn't get to the second wire harness because it's very tight space compared to the video. Some bolts were rusted and a few clips broke but was able to get them off and found replacements at oreilly luckily. 2. Struggled hard to pinch the lower fastners as I had that line running on the bottom like in the video. I ended up removing the passenger front tire and it gave me plenty of room to go underneath and pinch off. 3. I had so much trouble on the bottom clips that I decided to just remove the bumper. Was extremely easy and made the reinstalling process way easier. Wish I did that in the beginning, it was worth the effort and I highly recommend. I did have to buy a few plastic tree fasteners cuz I broke two while taking the bumper off, but worth the $3 for the time it saved me and I could have saved them if I took my time. Thanks for the video! Saved me tons of money from taking it in.
Loving the video so far but struggling to get the electrical wiring unplugged. Watching you makes it look easy. I'm sliding the red tab but can't seem to get past the secondary lock. Help!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video it helped me tremendously in the removal process. My only issue I had was when reinstalling was remembering how the condenser and power steering line went back on. I did figure it out and it's running great. You rock keep up the great videos!!!
I watched both parts, too. The repair manual says 2.6 hours. I haven't repaired/replaced a radiator in 20 years. I did the job in 1/5 hours, on a 2008 Chrysler T&C. The one thing I recommend is to (carefully) remove the grill. Makes getting to the cooling lines in the front easier.
Dave you were great help for replacing oil filter cooling module for my 2014 200 s 3,6 pen star got video on changing alternator if so I could use your help on that and THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP
Thanks for sharing the video , everything is so good, nice details about the job you are working on it and no junk information about something else and great angle and professional quality of video and voice...
Many thanks. I have since improved on all those things and make it a point to only film at home so no more back ground noise. If you liked that one....check out my newer videos, the quality is ever better. I appreciate the kind words and make sure to subscribe if you havent already.
Just finished doing this. @1:15 The radiator overflow comes out A LOT easier _after_ the upper radiator hose is disconnected. Initially, you can just drop it on the ground through the engine compartment. @1:53 There is a cover ... at least on my '12 DGC ... that needs to come off in order to get this view. Upside is that cover just pops right off. @2:20 I have a 6" notched pry bar that worked just like his trip removal tool. Don't know where I got it ... have had it forever. @2:35 There's not that much room. I used the short end of my pry bar and it worked like the screwdriver. But I was able to get in a tight space at a 90 deg angle. @4:00 Getting the fan shroud off the blocking fingers is a piece of cake. Getting the fan assembly out of the car is a royal PITA. Be prepared to fight with it, but it does come out. @4:42 Yeah. Do it in this order. I drained the radiator way before this step, and it was a PITA to get to. Shoulda followed the directions! @5:20 One of those clamp pliers tools would be _way_ helpful. I used my regular pliers. And, my clamps didn't slide on the hose as easily as his. ibid The upper end of my upper hose had a hose clamp that screwed down to tighten. The others had the kind in the video. Looking back, I'd replace them with the screwdriver ones. Everything else in this section of the video went very smoothly, and was as shown.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video!! You saved me (and others) a lot of $$$. You put great detail and excellent video shots to make the job easy. The only thing that I had a hard time with were the bottom clips holding the A/C condenser to the radiator (couldn't get needle nose pliers in there). I finally sprayed WD-40 on the clips, waited a few minutes, and they popped right off using just my fingers. Thanks again!!!
My son and I used this video to replace the radiator in his van last Saturday. It made the job much easier. Only problem we had was the clips that attach the power steering line to the radiator. Still, we completed the job in about 2 hours.
Just did mine. Get everything else loose and hoses off then you can lift up on the radiator and move it towards the engine. Put your arm in at the center, R arm for driver's side L arm for passenger. You can reach down and put your fingers right on it. Just when I was thinking about getting a mirror to see what was going on down there I touched the clip and the line popped off. Hope this helps someone else.
So I did this and now my needle is stuck at 0mph until I'm going 50-60mph and Guage "works" like it's supposed to. Do you have a video that shows how to reset the other way? My gas Guage also doesn't read right, it reads 1/4 tank over where it is and didn't work at all before resetting this way. Thank you this is best basic video explaining what to do!!
GREAT video! thank you for the post! I'm about to change the leaky Rad on my '08 T&C, and your hints and tips are great for getting insight into the special items on this vehicle.
I have a 2013 dodge grand caravan. How to disconnect the fan cooling two relays. Do you push in or out on the retaining clip. I don't want to apply pressure and break the relay
So no transmission cooling lines to deal with like on my older 2005? My 2008 T&C is the 3.8 so will it be the same as your video shows? Also, any suggestions on flushing engine first before taking out old or steps for once the new rad is in place, I'm assuming just reverse the steps, to properly fill and burp or anything tricky?
Followed the video and everything came together perfectly. Instead of $500-$600 I spent $105 at Rock Auto .com for the new radiator (delivered to my door) and maybe $20 worth of anti-freeze. I'll be looking for your videos when I'm on my next project. Excellent job!
Awesome feedback. Nothing like saving money and learning more about your vehicle. Glad to see that the videos are being used. Thanks again for commenting and make sure to subscribe.
Great video my friend. I now see this isn't that bad. When the service catalog called for 2 hours labor... Thought, crap. I bet that's including opening the ac lines and possibly removing front bumper as you clearly show, not necessarily needed.
Your welcome Thomas. When it comes to all these jobs....just take your time and follow the steps and all should go well. Thanks for searching and finding my video. Glad that its helpful and appreciate the feedback.
So I have a slight update that would have been an enormous help. The power steering line is ridiculously difficult to get off as the last step. Instead, I recommend doing it as the first step after you've removed all the necessary bolts. The rad/condenser can't move on you and because you haven't unseated them and pulled the condenser forward, you have plenty of room to reach down. I also recommend reattaching it back on as the last step before you bolt everything back on. So much more room to work on that frustrating little SOB. Also if you find you can't get that line off because you can't grip with fingers, my 2009 dodge has a kind of honeycomb plastic grille on the front that I was able to put two long flathead screwdrivers through to provide the pinching, while another person reaches in and pulls outward. There was no way to get it otherwise for mine.
I dont have access to the parts info. A quick search online shows 2008-2014 being the same...possibly other years as well.....I dont see why not but not 100% sure
Thanks for the great info David. I dont mind taking it apart but would like to diagnose where and what is causing before replacing the radiator. The wife complained total coolant loss due to leak in the driver front side (top side to be precise) of the radiator. Is this common in these vehicles...thanks again
+Manie Va Morning, it is a possible cause of your leak. I wouldn't say its common but I do see it from time to time. If need be you can get a coolant pressure tester from your local parts store under their tool loaner program. Just depends on your location and the parts store. I appreciate the comment and for finding/watching my videos. Make sure to subscribe as well!
Inorder to remove the grill.....the front bumper cover has to come off. I dont have a video on that as of yet....but make sure to subscribe so that you get notified when I do.
😱 I have to say thank you sooooo much. I went step by step and I did it👏🏾. I really appreciate the video especially since sometimes my opinion these prices be ridiculous for labor. Nevertheless thank you again can you do a water pump video I was told I may need one👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thats hard to say.....not something I can remember coming across. I would start with checking all the modules for any code using a scanner that can access all of them.....not your basic code reader. One question......did this start happening? Are you starting to use the a/c again depending on the part of the country your in? Just wanting to see if it has something to do with the a/c being on.
@@MotorCityMechanic just recently and no I'm not using the a/c. There's no light it's just when the fan kicks it seems it draws in a lot of juice but it hasn't over heated while idling for a while. I could be imagining it.
I will try to keep it in mind the next time I have one in the shop for that reason. Its not common and cant remember ever having to replace one. But I certainly will keep it in mind. Make sure to subscribe so you get notified when videos such as that get uploaded
Not even maybe on my 2016 Town and Country I don't know what you removed before you started this video but the room between your fan assembly and engine block is 5 times more than what I have. I don't have room to lift the fan up out of the locks and then move it toward the engine. Hitting an electrical connector and something else and if I try to raise it above the connector, it hits both the filler cap and something on the opposite end of the rad. I'm only doing this to access a bolt on the Alt. So much crap compared to my 07 Dodge grand. :(
And the issue is, apparently where ever you are shooting your video from, you used a 3.8 as opposed to a 3.6. My top rad hose goes right across the front of the engine and in no way do I have the room you are showing. I'll search out another video. For future reference, you may want to include which engine you are working on when there is more than one option. :) The video did help a little but not enough to complete the job.
You are absolutely correct about the engine size. I do want to bring an item up....did you see the video I did on the alternator removal on the 3.6 in that vehicle. Do to the lack of space as you have seen.....I feel the alternator removal out the bottom is the easiest. You dont need a lift but you do need a jack and jack stands or drive on ramps so that you could access it. I know your done with the job but make sure to check out the video to see another way to remove it. th-cam.com/video/W3GwfoV7uIk/w-d-xo.html
also put a new pcv valve in and cleaned out the egr valve.. new brakes and rotors on yesterday. midas tried telling my gf that her calipers were bad.. nope! no indication of brake fluid in the wheel wells and no leaking from the Pistons or bleeding valves.. crazy how some shops try to pull fast ones on people! next up tmmw is the back brakes.. thanks for making these videos bro.. life saver.. have yourself a blessed week..
Wow.....sounds like you saved enough money to take on some other needed repairs. Someone is racking up on the brownie points lol. There are some mechanics that give the rest of us a bad name for sure. Its always best to get a second opinion and also to google the issue and see what info it out there.....just like these videos.
Absolutely! Seriously brownie points...lol :). yah for the brakes, rotors, calipers, back brake pads, and radiator they quoted 1600$.. I actually bought both calipers(57$ a piece) not knowing which could be bad, back brakes, new front rotors/ brakes, radiator, 3 gallons of coolant, pressure tester kit (75$ returnable ), pcv valve, all for 725$.. after taking everything back should be around 500$.. insanity!
Nothing wrong with that. I little bit of searching on youtube.....a few minutes of your time watching my videos....some basic tools and mechanical knowledge......BAM! Money in the bank and now your the hero to your girl friend. Its cool to see the affect that the videos have.
Awesome job. this would have been very tricky without the video. Pay special attention to the "Clips", especially the ones that hold the power steering pipe to the lower radiator. otherwise this is an easy do it yourself job. was quoted $850 at the dealer. I got it done in 2 hrs for $187.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just needed to remove the coolant overflow reservoir and your video showed that it can be done in about 30 seconds. Great!
Don't use a tool to tighten your rad drain petcock bc itll break sooner or later. It happened to me and I wasn't cranking on it too bad. Hand tight is fine.
thank you very much! I'm not an auto guy, but I liked and subscribed anyway. Making these videos is very decent of you, you just saved my family a pretty penny. thanks again!
Awesome.....always cool to hear about people saving money directly because of my video. Thanks for taking the time to tell me as well. Appreciate your subscribing!
I do have more Randy. Go to the main page of the channel and search in the playlist by vehicle. Dont forget to subscribe and share the videos with others.

Andrew Kereluk Your welcome. Appreciate you using this video to take on that repair. Thanks for the comment and make sure to subscribe
Great job! Nothing to it once you know the steps. Appreciate the feedback and make sure to subscribe
Dave you were great help for replacing oil filter cooling module for my 2014 200 s 3,6 pen star got video on changing alternator if so I could use your help on that and THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP
I just wanted to addd that this was flawless!!! I was able to get mine replaced and it’s working great!!! Thank you!!!!
Thanks Jeremy for the great feedback! Appreciate you stopping by to watch. Make sure to hang around and subscribe
Thanks for sharing the video , everything is so good,
nice details about the job you are working on it
and no junk information about something else
and great angle and professional quality of video and voice...
Absolutely GREAT video. I just fixed my car and saved a ton of money. THANKS!!!!!
Thanks for letting me know how it turned out! Appreciate you following the steps in the video
Awesome, glad it worked out in the end. WD40 is my friend! lol. Thanks for the info and appreciate you watching.
Cool video. The instructions were perfect and the video great.By far the best ive seen in a long time.
My son and I used this video to replace the radiator in his van last Saturday. It made the job much easier. Only problem we had was the clips that attach the power steering line to the radiator. Still, we completed the job in about 2 hours.
Thats great. Nothing like learning something new. Thanks for letting me know how it turned out. Make sure to subscribe!
Hugh Brackett Thanks for the added info!
Appreciate the kind words. Glad that the video helped and thanks for watching. Make sure to subscribe Jack.
This guy is good
Stright to the point
Very clear on what to do and how to do it
Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to make this video
Very helpful with good views and clear explanation!
Much appreciated. Thanks for commenting and for watching. Make sure to subscribe
good video, I can ask you a question. Are the springs and rear shocks the same on the 2010 and 2015 models?
At 5:17 whats the name of those 2 metal tubes with black casing behind the hose?? I have a leak there.
Thank you for this video. It's very clear and detailed. Working on the car, it was almost like I'd done the job before.
Hugh Brackett Awesome feedback and much appreciated! Make sure to subscribe and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Where would I find the cooling fan relay for that car? I'm aware the low speed relay is in the fuse box. Is there another?
2011 and newer come with a 3.6, does the radiator stay the same for the newer years or does it also change when the engine changes?
I dont have access to the parts info. A quick search online shows 2008-2014 being the same...possibly other years as well.....I dont see why not but not 100% sure
Great video one of the best ones I've watched.
Excellent very helpful video. I have to do this on my granddaughters van.
hey I know this doesn't really relate to this video but for the life of me I can't find the cooling fan relay on an 08 town and country
i watched the 2 parts and it was that easy. Many thanks!!!
Awesome. Glad that it helped. Make sure to subscribe and share the videos.
+MotorCity Mechanic Thanks. subscribed.
hey how was wondering how to remove the front grill of my 2012 dodge grand caravan SE?
Inorder to remove the grill.....the front bumper cover has to come off. I dont have a video on that as of yet....but make sure to subscribe so that you get notified when I do.
What’s the number on the trim tool you used on the grill portion? Looks lik,e a Snap On
Actually its a cheap set from Harbor Freight.
Great job! Thanks for using this video to take on that repair. Appreciate the feedback and make sure to subscribe!
Having a hard time removing the fan clip, noticed you didn’t have a red tab. Have you any tips?
Someone was there before and they damaged the red tab. Same for me here.
Awesome video!
Many thanks Kushal. Dont forget to subscribe.
Recently my radiator fan comes on for about 5 to 10 seconds and then turns off, what could be wrong?
Thats hard to say.....not something I can remember coming across. I would start with checking all the modules for any code using a scanner that can access all of them.....not your basic code reader. One question......did this start happening? Are you starting to use the a/c again depending on the part of the country your in? Just wanting to see if it has something to do with the a/c being on.
@@MotorCityMechanic just recently and no I'm not using the a/c. There's no light it's just when the fan kicks it seems it draws in a lot of juice but it hasn't over heated while idling for a while. I could be imagining it.
Excellent video! ! Subscribed!!
If possible , Please make a video about how to change a starter on Dodge grand caravan 2009 .Thank you in advance .
I will try to keep it in mind the next time I have one in the shop for that reason. Its not common and cant remember ever having to replace one. But I certainly will keep it in mind. Make sure to subscribe so you get notified when videos such as that get uploaded
Thank you so much .I will Make sure to subscribe
Great detail, nothing missed, just follow the steps and you'll get it done! This is the best auto mechanic video I've used.

Fantastic video. Thank you
No! Thank you for the awesome feedback
just figures, I SPECIFY 2006 dodge caravan and I get this. Good job, Premium TH-cam....
Sorry that happened. I cant believe I havent made a video on that vehicle as of yet.
Where did part 2 of the video go?
The video did help a little but not enough to complete the job.
I know your done with the job but make sure to check out the video to see another way to remove it. th-cam.com/video/W3GwfoV7uIk/w-d-xo.html
mission complete. . those bottom clips that were attached to the power steering were a pain though.. thanks bro
Awesome! Glad it turned out well. Thanks Mark for the update. Always cool to see people following the steps in the videos and it working out great.
also put a new pcv valve in and cleaned out the egr valve.. new brakes and rotors on yesterday. midas tried telling my gf that her calipers were bad.. nope! no indication of brake fluid in the wheel wells and no leaking from the Pistons or bleeding valves.. crazy how some shops try to pull fast ones on people! next up tmmw is the back brakes.. thanks for making these videos bro.. life saver.. have yourself a blessed week..
Would this be the same steps for 4.0L?
If it falls in the year range then yes the radiator will be pretty much the exact same steps. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.
Hello.. does anyone have a link to a video to change a front bumper on 08grand caravan xlt
Awesome job. this would have been very tricky without the video. Pay special attention to the "Clips", especially the ones that hold the power steering pipe to the lower radiator. otherwise this is an easy do it yourself job. was quoted $850 at the dealer. I got it done in 2 hrs for $187.
Now thats saving money! Awesome. Glad it went well for you and I appreciate the feedback. Make sure to subscribe and share the videos with others.
dave can u tell me where the fan relay is located
Check between the radiator fan and the drivers side headlamp assembly. It should be right in that area.
What were the symptoms that steered you towards replacing the radiator? Was it clogged or smashed?
Jw
This one was leaking at the plastic tank on the side. Thanks for asking and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I just needed to remove the coolant overflow reservoir and your video showed that it can be done in about 30 seconds. Great!
Great video, it helped me a lot especially on all those clips.
Thanks James for the comment. Dont forget to subscribe and help spread the word by sharing these videos with others
If possible can you post on how to replace an alternator on a 2008 Caravan. That would be awesome. Cheers man!!!

Don't use a tool to tighten your rad drain petcock bc itll break sooner or later. It happened to me and I wasn't cranking on it too bad. Hand tight is fine.
very detailed video thank you
