Ugh, The Good ones can do it. I went bass bone for low and slow. I couldn't dream of the quadruple tonguing (I think?) of some of those parts. I might do the low long tones better, but not those.. I'm jealous =p

It’s really, really hard but I’ve seen tenor trombones hit those notes, or at some some Low notes near it (edit - you can hit pedal tones, but I’m not entirely possible you can go THAT now. I do know you can get close though)

When I was a student musician, one of my instructors used to say practice does not make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. This musician incredibly skilled.
Great example of a bass trombonist who does everything right. The best I've ever heard. I would bet that he has studied Arnold Jacobs for the importance of keeping the air going. Also, these words of wisdom from two Chicago Symphony Trombonists are certainly evident in his playing: Jay Friedman who reminds when slurring from low to high to get set on the lower note, imagine the next note, do nothing else, and "keep blowing," and Charles Vernon who reminds us to keep the "buzz" in our embouchure going when changing notes. His concept of what the horn can do is limitless.
Think how many trombone players are in the world. Lets say at least 500,000. You just named 9 people. Out of 500,000. That's less than .000018 percent of the trombone population. Unless you're completely focused on the music aspect of life(which is satisfying, I must say) you would most likely not know who these peole are, especially if you're in high school.

bass bones are amazing to play.. and hard AF... I had a 42 B bach which is in between the pea shooter and bass... had to play bass for a while in HS. and the bore mouthpiece is 50ish- almost the size of tuba and to get that high octave on that size mouthpiece is just mind blowing
He is a great trombonist first. Most of this piece is in regular, to very high range. To play that range takes tremendous chops. To play that range on a bass trombone mouthpiece is not normal. He wasn’t playing that fast on his bass trombone range. Still an excellent performance. Bravo!

Upright bass is a thing in jazz band. In fact if your good at it, a lot of smaller school bands need one.
The most impressive thing is not the tonguing speed, but the fact that he somehow coordinates the slide and keeps the notes in tune on the fast parts.
