  • The 100 year old, 7 ingredient cure: Talbina barley porridge by @CookingWithMama100
    Start your day with this nutritious and delicious Talbina barley porridge! 🌾 This quick and easy recipe is perfect for a healthy breakfast. Made with broken barley ,milk, it's both creamy and satisfying. Garnish with your favorite nuts and dried fruits or fresh fruits for an extra crunch.
    📌 *Ingredients:*
    - 1 cup broken barley
    - water 1/4 cup or as per needed can use
    - 500 ml of milk (or almond/coconut milk)
    -6-7 dates thin sliced
    -one handful of pistachio
    -one handful of almond
    -saffron few
    -soaked Chia seed 1-2 tsp
    -coconut powder 1 tsp
    -green cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
    - nuts and dried fruits for garnish
    - some seasonal fruits as per your choice (mango, pomegranate, Apple)
    Instructions:
    1. *Rinse the Barley:* Rinse 1 cup of pearl barley under cold water to remove any dust or debris.
    2. *Cook the Barley:* In a large pot, combine the rinsed barley and 500 ml of milk . in this point add a few saffron,green cardamom powder, pistachio, almond and dates. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 25-30 minutes or until the barley is tender and most of the milk is absorbed.
    3. *Serve:* Scoop the porridge into bowls and add your favorite toppings. Fresh fruits, nuts, seeds, soaked chia seed and a sprinkle of coconut powder are great choices.
    5. *Enjoy:* Serve warm and enjoy your healthy and hearty barley porridge!
    Note - if you wish to add more sweets instead of thin sliced dates you can grind it then add then , it will become more sweet .
