    When, then Col Bailey was selected for his 1st star, there were 6 other Marine Corps African American Colonels selected for their first star as well. We use to call them the Magnificent Seven. We were proud of them all. COLONELS Bailey, Gaskin, Williams, Stewart, Coleman, Wilson, and Stanley...Semper Fi Generals....We are still proud of you.

    This is why I chose to join the Corps. The standards that the Marines have is above all other branches and the culture of pride in the Corps is awesome. Semper Fi.

    1868 the E.G.A. was designed by a Marine
    And it became a symbol of who we are and always recognized by that emblem.
    The Eagle is National service, the globe is indicating world wide service. The anchor tells of our Connection with our sister service the U.S. Navy.
    The Eagle has a banner in his beak.. "semper fidelis " is what it says, Latin for Always faithful
    The Globe on the anchor depicts the western hemisphere. "North and south america' respectively.
    Good stuff..
    The commandments house. Longest standing Government building in continuous use.
    8th and I barracks.
    Since 1775 were men and women. Of Honor.
    We live and Work and deploy wearing a uniform and we do it with Honor.
    It's great that my Discharge says "Honorable"
    It's a beautiful thing.

    Why won’t America and our American Presidents ensure that African-American men and women are appointed as Joint Chiefs of Staff? Why don’t we see more black general officers as commentators on the major cable news networks? As a retired veteran, I am saddened by how far blacks have not come in the military. It’s still the good ole boy system when it comes to promotions, positions of responsibility, and being treated as equals. A change has got to come. Hopefully this beautiful General is one of the changes.

      Well, General Colin Powell (African American from New York) was Chief of Staff 1989-1993. Also became Secretary of State. They are plenty of African American Generals and Hispanics in the Armed Forces. SSgt Gamba U.S Marines

      Why are you trying to force diversity ? The color of the man's skin doesn't make him a great general, not saying this general isn't a good one but we shouldn't be forcing diversity. Pick the best one for the job is how its should be, not identity politics.

    • @ggamba9729
      @ggamba9729 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm with you all the way "The most qualified." Without forcing it. General Colin Powell was more than qualified and I had the placer to see him once. Diversity is a requirement in all fields in 2019 (Technology, Medicine and more). But who could tell the ratio in each one of them? That's why we compete to pick the Top candidate. SSgt Gamba
