Magic forces will make it so that you'll survive and kill stuff the game developers weren't expecting you to kill. In Todd Howards words, "it just works"
Love the music and the story, but god gw2 combat is infinitely better. When I finished Endwalker I’d get annoyed every time I had to fight because it was so slow and boring.
Still pretty new to Gw2 and looking at trying your Bladesworn build. Can it solo Legendary Corrupted Facet and if so any adjustments to your build that you'd suggest for that fight?

Just thought I would add here that there is a bug with WB at the moment. Using Permeating Wrath and reducing the number of hits to trigger makes the burning stacks from F1 really wonky when you have another virtue passive up. So hopefully when this is fixed the WB build will have more damage!!

Hello! I have a question about the Catalyst build. I’m not able to buy Baelfire runes just yet, so I was wondering what can be an alternative rune to use until I’m able to get Baelfire runes? I was looking around and seen the Balthazar runes look similar, would that be the runes to use for now?
Could someone explain where the mechanist is getting perma alacrity on this build? The only source I can see is the mech f2 skill which is only 10 seconds.

i recommended trailblazer on last update video 7 months ago and still working but with recent changes celestial will perform better in term of dps in the other hand trailblazer more tankier and forgiving for mistakes
My main problem with the mesmer using a staff and this build is the lack of burst for killing random open world enemies.Otherwise its a great facetank,easy and fun build to play.
all condition builds dont have instant burst to clear normal mobs fast compare to power builds, but also same thing goes to power it cant kill elites or some veterans faster than condition Edited : except bladesworn its the only exception here
@@datboi04 the goal of these builds is to provide something for those who wish to do : - story - farm collection that require clearing lot of events. - clear mini dungeons. - Daily champion HP kill loots. - etc etc whatever what people wish to do in open world. those stuff are basically contents you don't usually get people around to help, so providing builds that able to self buff your damage, passive sustain and decent cleaves also condition remove and stun breaks, if the builds are 99% defensive as you assumed try to benchmark with full berserker mesmer without adding any external boons to yourself or conditions on golem just like i did in this video and see the difference. small info : the idea of showcase soloing bosses is to show the peak performance how far you can go.
@@datboi04 Staff + Staff as Hizen mentioned below is my go to for tough things I'm going to solo or for potentially tough content I haven't done before. For general open world I then work backwards to balance DPS and sustain. For the Mirage build that meant swapping gear and trinkets to Viper, and replacing one staff with Viper Axe/Pistol. You could also go Axe + Pistol/Torch or even Scepter + Pistol/Torch although you take a heavy hit to sustain. Thereafter there a few traits you can swap to further balance what you want to achieve. Mirage, even as power, won't be clearing trash at record speeds. You've got Chrono or Virtuoso for that.
This build performs well enough for me. I'm having no problem clearing trash quickly, and surviving tougher enemies without a scratch. Maybe it doesn't burst anything down...but to me, living > dying.
@@LordHizen Condition Virtuoso has very good burst since it runs a lot of Rampager pieces. Personally, I run Condi Virt 95% of the time, and switch to Staff Mirage only if I need to solo really hard content (HoT hero points for example). With the introduction of build templates and gear templates it is very easy to switch builds. Obviously I run Mirage with Condi Virt armor pieces (a mix of Viper and Rampager) which is not ideal but it gets the job done well enough.
I have a question that can be generally related to GW2, but also specific to Your catalyst build here... You catalyst build here is purely for pve? Or can it be used in WvW also? im asking bcs i have ascended gear now and have WvW condition infusions in it. If i use the ones You presented in this build, will they and this build be useful in WvW too ?
to be fair those benchmark videos with all boons and conditions on boss are for endgame contents like raids and strikes to show your maximum dps when you do them but ofc the damage will be difference depend on the boss you fighting

I have a question for you: Most of your previous gear that you made videos with was Trailblazer, back then i had almost all of my characters that were condition damage geared with these stats. Nowadays you are using celestial and it is obvious since the stats changed, but how much of an impact will someone have if decides to stay with trailblazer instead of changing to celestial?(Engineer,Revenant,Necro,Mesmer). For willbender after your opener, are you just using most of your skills off cooldown? I watched your willbender guide but it didn't really have a detailed explanation on what to press besides the opener.
its something i explained in the guide part but i can give a quick recap : your main damage is from the burning you inflict on every 3 hits when F1 buff is up so you want to drop all your symbols and all other skills that drop pulses more damage to generate more burnings same thing goes to F2 every 5 hits you will generate alacrity and regen. so to make it short you must keep using all your damage skills off cooldown whenever your F1 skill buff is up to inflict more burning damage.
Runes of perplexity, torment, and undead have all been viable in past versions of the build. Undead runes are best used with trailblazer gear for toughness conversion and malice sigil to bolster the condition duration. Nightmare is optimal and easy to obtain as you can run any dungeon to obtain the currency (not just twilight Arbor). Edit: or trapper as stated above.
@@TheAerophobe to make it clear perplexity, undead or tormenting rune are good for trailblazer but celestial mirage have higher crit chance and because of sharp image trait in dueling trait-line every time your clones crit they will inflict bleeding ( no ICD ), so the idea of using rune of nightmare is to increase the duration of all conditions : confusion, torment and bleeding

yes celestial is needed for quickness uptime, but as i showed in last update video 7 months ago trailblazer still works just fine but this one is updated for celestial version to have more dps

amazing thanks you for this ! just a quick question: Since farming the currency for the rune of the nightmares is a, well, nightmare, my mirage is currently using rune of the tempest instead, would that be correct or is there a better substitute ? (I have the gold to buy any rune, just not the willpower to farm donjon)
rune of tempest is fine but if you want better alternative that would be rune of trapper why? because rune of tempest will give 36 condition damage stat meanwhile rune of trapper gives 175. but in the end i recommend to get rune of nightmare
Ascalon P123, SE1-3i CoF 1-3 are easy paths. Since all dungeon currency is only one now. You can do one of easiest one you want and collect runes. You don't need to do twilight arbor for nightmare runs anymore. I recommend Ascalon, it is easier to find group and paths aren't that bad, P2 is slightly annoying but manageable.
Really good builds, nice you keep updating builds instead of just one and done forever. Personally I've kept the tanky bladesworn and mechanist builds, for bladesworn it just got too squishy for my liking and mechanist, i just enjoyed the smaller amount of button clicks/tanky it had
sadly warrior rifle base damage is way lower compare to other weapons, the only thing that rifle is good at is to tag mobs during meta farms buuuut bladesworn now can do that with new gunsaber rework? so to make it short no i cant make something viable for rifle warrior
yea its fine also flame legion is another good alternative, but as i explained in previous catalyst video why baelfire is good is because its increase the duration of other conditions like vul and bleeding not just burning
How do you... stay alive as a willbender? I mean, when you use litany to heal, which abilites do you prioritize? Cause, probably because I'm hurtfully bad, when I try to heal back, it is usually insufficient and I feel I wasted the heal. With greatsword I can use skills 3 and 2 for a burst of healing and that would be enough to get to full health but I guess I'm not doing enough condi damage for it to be usable for me as willbender. I've been playing for years but I can't help but think I do everything wrong (i struggle a lot in story content, for example, it's frustrating). I need help at this point :(
after you use F1 skill and hit the target with multiple AOE's like symbols and other stuff to inflict heavy burning, you can use litany heal during that, because when F1 buff is up thats the time you inflict lot of burnings

I was kind of frustrated as I was dying A LOT in story content and stuff like that but this build not only kicks ass in terms of damage... Most classes' several weapons are basically specialized for either power or condi and rarely for hybrid damage type. Let's say mirage, its main dps source is called "Confusion" a dot class ( which we call condi in gw2 ). If you use sword, the skills comes from sword doesn't apply confusion at all. I mean you can use full mirage build that Hizen shows you if you want but you will hit like wet noodle and mostly none at all and at the end build won't work.
the last update patch video was 7 months ago so obviously with recent couple balance patches stuff need to be changed, thats why i have a discord to answer people questions and to keep them updated with whenever new patch release

can you start testing your builds on some of the bandit bounties (ezal the quick and the likes) since I find them harder than many of the legendary bounties
Awesome video ! And I wondered, how do you manage to truly solo bosses ? I mean how do you keep random players from poping up and ruining your demonstration of prowess ?
Honestly, it comes down to chance, at least in my experience. I've tried telling people I plan to solo something, and usually, the responses are "bullshit that can't be soloed" or "it's an mmo go play a solo game if you want to solo", so usually I just go for it and if somebody shows up I either let it fail or help if the people arent being assholes. I've had very few (but very welcomed) occasions where I say I'm attempting a solo politely, and the people who tried to join were nice and backed up and just watched.
Personally i solo to learn so i can help/teach others. Cus i hate the bullshit mindset most of the gw2 playerbase has, "i cant do this so nobody else can and if they say otherwise theyre a troll or an elitist" theres so many good builds you dont even have to be a super skilled player to play the game. I hate that its wrong for me to want a place for people of all skill levels to be able to enjoy the game to its fullest, games are supposed to be fun damnit. My ass went from not being able to kill a fucking vet basalisk on a necro to soloing fractals and shit with 800 ping and 10 fps on all classes, cus i put the work in to getting better. People gotta realise if you take your time to learn and have fun with it youll get better. Go at your own pace and youll make progress. I dont expect people to do things how i did because theyre not me. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses gotta nurture what youre good at.
Appologies for the rant. Just a guy who misses when pepple could enjoy video games together and strive for self-improvement instead of whining and fingerpointing and blame-shifting.
It takes a lot of tries; he says that's the hardest part of making these videos, getting to kill the boss before someone shows up to "help." It's also why it looks like he's done every one of these fights a million times, he's got a lot of patience.
I dont understand how dropping fire for water is supposed to improve the catalyst build. also, why even take arcane shield? it literally doesnt do anything?
with the current change, you can reach 100% burning duration, water trait line improve your passive heal allowing you to greed DPS without worrying about incoming damage you receive while doing your DPS rotation, arcane shield is a stun break & survival skill, but if you want more DPS utility you can take relentless fire but it won't change much in term of solo DPS
@@joaovalinha5695 you need to equip sanctuary rune then while in combat every time you get yourself boon you will get alacrity. to make it short keep attacking you and your jade mech and you will have alacrity, and if you got hit and healed by any healing resource that include regeneration too you will also get MORE alacrity.
Will you be doing a longer video on the Mechanist changes to go into more detail on the skill rotation? I loved the other Rifle Mech build but wanted to give this a try after seeing you say how much better it is, and would be nice to have a bit of healing on my little juggernaut guy :)
I get a build and am like “this is pretty good” when I test it on 4 elder jinns at the top of Crystal Oasis. Then this guy comes along and takes on 4 champion ones…
That specific mirage build seems good for long solo pve encounters which does not happen all that often. I'm sure there is some value in there for someone
I mean no champ besides legendary bounties are currently a problem for any specc with the insane buff from the jade bot protocols in the open world... Mirage dmg is simply too low imo. I can easily do 20-30k as power weaver in open world sustained and kill most champs within a few seconds. Can't be killed if the thing dies before you anyway. Mirage dmg has a suuuuper slow ramp up time in open world and makes it scuffed to play.
I have been running this build for a very long time. I have the same gear for armor, but an extra set of weapons which I switch between. When doing open world solo, I usually camp Axe/Pistol, as even in Celestial gear, has somewhat decent burst, and my other weapon is Staff. When I come across champs or bounties, I'll switch to Staff/Staff. So if you are working on this build, just make an axe and a pistol in addition to the rest, and you have a jack of all trades for open world.
@@tfulookinatm8 It does certainly no argument from me. Swapping out to Viper's and replacing one staff for axe/pistol with a few trait changes does help though.

currently vindicator is the strongest since it can face tank any boss or mechanics and greed dps

Is there an alternative to Nightmare runes on Mirage? I don't want to have to run dungeons for my open world build.
trapper rune it has less 5% condition duration compare to nightmare but its decent alternative

Runes of perplexity, torment, and undead have all been viable in past versions of the build. Undead runes are best used with trailblazer gear for toughness conversion and malice sigil to bolster the condition duration. Nightmare is optimal and easy to obtain as you can run any dungeon to obtain the currency (not just twilight Arbor).
Edit: or trapper as stated above.
@@TheAerophobe to make it clear perplexity, undead or tormenting rune are good for trailblazer but celestial mirage have higher crit chance and because of sharp image trait in dueling trait-line every time your clones crit they will inflict bleeding ( no ICD ), so the idea of using rune of nightmare is to increase the duration of all conditions : confusion, torment and bleeding
is the bladesworn's only condi cleanse when it uses its dragon trigger slash?

For mechanist you didn't mention in your video that you are switching from trailblazer back to celestial again? Is that for the quickness uptime?
yes celestial is needed for quickness uptime, but as i showed in last update video 7 months ago trailblazer still works just fine but this one is updated for celestial version to have more dps

just a quick question: Since farming the currency for the rune of the nightmares is a, well, nightmare, my mirage is currently using rune of the tempest instead, would that be correct or is there a better substitute ? (I have the gold to buy any rune, just not the willpower to farm donjon)
rune of tempest is fine but if you want better alternative that would be rune of trapper
why? because rune of tempest will give 36 condition damage stat meanwhile rune of trapper gives 175.
but in the end i recommend to get rune of nightmare
Ascalon P123, SE1-3i CoF 1-3 are easy paths. Since all dungeon currency is only one now. You can do one of easiest one you want and collect runes.
You don't need to do twilight arbor for nightmare runs anymore. I recommend Ascalon, it is easier to find group and paths aren't that bad, P2 is slightly annoying but manageable.

Really good builds, nice you keep updating builds instead of just one and done forever. Personally I've kept the tanky bladesworn and mechanist builds, for bladesworn it just got too squishy for my liking and mechanist, i just enjoyed the smaller amount of button clicks/tanky it had

sadly warrior rifle base damage is way lower compare to other weapons, the only thing that rifle is good at is to tag mobs during meta farms buuuut bladesworn now can do that with new gunsaber rework?

yea its fine also flame legion is another good alternative, but as i explained in previous catalyst video why baelfire is good is because its increase the duration of other conditions like vul and bleeding not just burning
How do you... stay alive as a willbender? I mean, when you use litany to heal, which abilites do you prioritize? Cause, probably because I'm hurtfully bad, when I try to heal back, it is usually insufficient and I feel I wasted the heal. With greatsword I can use skills 3 and 2 for a burst of healing and that would be enough to get to full health but I guess I'm not doing enough condi damage for it to be usable for me as willbender. I've been playing for years but I can't help but think I do everything wrong (i struggle a lot in story content, for example, it's frustrating). I need help at this point :(
after you use F1 skill and hit the target with multiple AOE's like symbols and other stuff to inflict heavy burning, you can use litany heal during that, because when F1 buff is up thats the time you inflict lot of burnings

How do you unlock eod specs? You need a certain quantity of hero points? Haven't bought the expansion but thinking of it.
Yes you need hero points, but you get them easily in expansions

Most classes' several weapons are basically specialized for either power or condi and rarely for hybrid damage type.
Let's say mirage, its main dps source is called "Confusion" a dot class ( which we call condi in gw2 ). If you use sword, the skills comes from sword doesn't apply confusion at all. I mean you can use full mirage build that Hizen shows you if you want but you will hit like wet noodle and mostly none at all and at the end build won't work.

Awesome video ! And I wondered, how do you manage to truly solo bosses ? I mean how do you keep random players from poping up and ruining your demonstration of prowess ?
Honestly, it comes down to chance, at least in my experience. I've tried telling people I plan to solo something, and usually, the responses are "bullshit that can't be soloed" or "it's an mmo go play a solo game if you want to solo", so usually I just go for it and if somebody shows up I either let it fail or help if the people arent being assholes. I've had very few (but very welcomed) occasions where I say I'm attempting a solo politely, and the people who tried to join were nice and backed up and just watched.
Personally i solo to learn so i can help/teach others. Cus i hate the bullshit mindset most of the gw2 playerbase has, "i cant do this so nobody else can and if they say otherwise theyre a troll or an elitist" theres so many good builds you dont even have to be a super skilled player to play the game. I hate that its wrong for me to want a place for people of all skill levels to be able to enjoy the game to its fullest, games are supposed to be fun damnit. My ass went from not being able to kill a fucking vet basalisk on a necro to soloing fractals and shit with 800 ping and 10 fps on all classes, cus i put the work in to getting better. People gotta realise if you take your time to learn and have fun with it youll get better. Go at your own pace and youll make progress. I dont expect people to do things how i did because theyre not me. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses gotta nurture what youre good at.
Appologies for the rant. Just a guy who misses when pepple could enjoy video games together and strive for self-improvement instead of whining and fingerpointing and blame-shifting.
It takes a lot of tries; he says that's the hardest part of making these videos, getting to kill the boss before someone shows up to "help." It's also why it looks like he's done every one of these fights a million times, he's got a lot of patience.
I dont understand how dropping fire for water is supposed to improve the catalyst build. also, why even take arcane shield? it literally doesnt do anything?
with the current change, you can reach 100% burning duration, water trait line improve your passive heal allowing you to greed DPS without worrying about incoming damage you receive while doing your DPS rotation, arcane shield is a stun break & survival skill, but if you want more DPS utility you can take relentless fire but it won't change much in term of solo DPS

@@joaovalinha5695 you need to equip sanctuary rune then while in combat every time you get yourself boon you will get alacrity.
to make it short keep attacking you and your jade mech and you will have alacrity, and if you got hit and healed by any healing resource that include regeneration too you will also get MORE alacrity.

That specific mirage build seems good for long solo pve encounters which does not happen all that often. I'm sure there is some value in there for someone
I mean no champ besides legendary bounties are currently a problem for any specc with the insane buff from the jade bot protocols in the open world... Mirage dmg is simply too low imo.
I can easily do 20-30k as power weaver in open world sustained and kill most champs within a few seconds.
Can't be killed if the thing dies before you anyway.
Mirage dmg has a suuuuper slow ramp up time in open world and makes it scuffed to play.
I have been running this build for a very long time. I have the same gear for armor, but an extra set of weapons which I switch between. When doing open world solo, I usually camp Axe/Pistol, as even in Celestial gear, has somewhat decent burst, and my other weapon is Staff. When I come across champs or bounties, I'll switch to Staff/Staff. So if you are working on this build, just make an axe and a pistol in addition to the rest, and you have a jack of all trades for open world.
@@tfulookinatm8 It does certainly no argument from me. Swapping out to Viper's and replacing one staff for axe/pistol with a few trait changes does help though.
