@@MInorek5of course. It’s a little wonky on Cele virt condi but works fine. Mesmer has great power/condi balance on weapons or traits so Cele is very strong on Mesmer.
I can totally agree with the statements in this video. I've been playing GW2 since 2012 and have tried out different builds over and over again. But somehow I was never really happy with certain builds. At some point I decided to play a build with Celestial Stats for all classes... and I've been completely happy ever since. My girlfriend, who has also been playing since 2012, made it easy for herself scince the Revenant class was released and also plays her beloved Renegade with Celestial stats and has been very successful in the game ever since. We both together have become a nearly unbeatable team.
Omg! You opened my eyes to so many things I missed, by not using Celestial. Builds that were not working for the way I play. But will work with Celestial! Than you!
Very informational video, and a great timing too - I was playing Berserker Ele today in open world and my experience was lacking... so during the video I swapped to a full Wupwup buld. I thought Celestial is not viable, but you convinced me otherwise! Given that you can play Cele roamers in WVW too, I think stat swapping was a great decision. Thanks and get 100% healthy soon!
To be honest, I am typically not a fan of your content - its just not my humor and that is completely fine, 33,4k of people DO like it, so there is that:) But I really got to give you credit where credit is due: This video is straight to the point, well thought out and factually correct (as far as I can judge it) - I especially like that you emphasised the importance of "the right gear/build for the right game mode", there is nothing to add to that. So really, really good job on making a great, informative and pretty objective video giving your point of view for why you are doing things the way you are. GJ and keep on doing what you are doing!
Even better: Level 80 boosts now grant players a full set of celestial gear, which is a HUGE improvement over what it was originally when some classes used to get soldier's gear from the boosts (guardian and revenant come to mind). So even Anet knows to set folks up decently for open world content right out of the gate.
Hope you are feeling better, my friend! Been watching your videos since you posted the hunt videos from WvW and been here ever since. Currently running your Untamed Cele build for open world and it's been awesome! Still need to get used to the unleash skills but having a blast with it.
My algorithm is scary. I was thinking about looking for this channel last week and today it just pops up. It's terrifying and oddly a bit comforting to have the algorithm know what to do.
Yeah, I believe its a bit class dependant as some classes want a bit more offences than defences like Thief and others may lack a lot of defences and would prefer more like Elementalist. But in general Celestial is the best gear for most open world roaming and since you get a full set from level boost it can be super helpful for getting you eased into some endgame classes. I used a level boost for a full set of Celestial gear for my Untamed and I haven't changed their gear since, as it has so far never let me down even in difficult zones like Heart of Thorns.
every class benefits in cele ..if the goal is to 1-2 shot burst in wvw on thief , then vanish...id not suggest celestial. otherwise it's the best stuff in all other content.
Your older videos made me get everything celestial, I have only celestial on all my characters, do not regret, I only play open world events to have some fun casually and I can survive and solo a lot with it! Specially with necromancer.
nice choice with NEcromancer but necromancer is such a great survivalist on its own its a waste to pack it with celestial when on berserker power basic build it can easely survive anything with no efforts bheyonfd knowing a small simple rotation to hit and use wisely your secondary hp bar with shroud. but again, its always about fun.
I agree that Celestial is often times the best way to play in open world, but the main thing is to play for fun. When the thing that is most fun for you is for example Hammer Warrior you'll want to play power for that. For some people being as versatile as possible is the most fun, and in those cases which is in fact a very popular case celestial is the best. Suggesting what you prefer, or what you think is better, is fine. The issue is when others try to force another to play the way they want them to.
Yep I agree, open world is a fun place for players who likes achievements hunting or simply exploring the world maps. There are players who enjoy power builds that’s why I included power builds in my discord that includes hammer spellbreaker
Fair point. But I think both you as a content creator, as well as Lord Hizen, are in a privileged position of being good at the game. You both make solid content for OW and so you are both catering to the vast casual majority who suck at this game. I don't think it is a stretch to say that majority is probably over 90%. For those people, the least fun thing in the game is downed state. I would argue that before anything else, the best build is the build that makes you not go down so you can play uninterruptedly and not have your moment-to-moment gameplay loop disturbed. Celestial does that better than any other set as for most builds it allows you to compensate the lost damage with 25 stacks of might, and often max'd out conditions/duration, decent to great vulnerability uptime and some power damage that shouldn't be ignored (still represents a good 20% of your total damage on average). Usually, you don't even need to execute a complicated rotation to achieve as the builds are designed to always achieve these boon goals by just normally playing. So you end up killing stuff relatively quick and never going down. The best way for a new player or veterans who suck at the game to enjoy GW2.
@@robinwesterbeeke1498 Not sure if you were agreeing or not, but its important to note that the celestial stats aren't inherently good, they are with specific builds that get the full potential out of the stats. So some people will slap celestial on anything or even on power based weapons and it won't really perform that well. Also in terms of player skill, it's nice that there are optional challenges like soloing group content, but this is nowhere near the level required for the average player since they aren't going around purposefully creating challenges to test builds (unless they want to which isn't very average)
@@robinwesterbeeke1498 The average casual player however will not be on the level of knowledge and skill that the video assumes. It isn't just the build+gear that makes it work. It's also the player's ability or interest that makes it work and their understanding of the combat system. I'd say that most casual OW players aren't interested in such things. And the video talks about trash mobs as if all of them are easy to kill with 2 hits but that's not the case in a lot of cases. Trash mobs can be a lot more dangerous than that. Particularly in areas where there are mobs that have a lot of aggro range. And yeah, about that aggro... Celestial also means higher toughness, which can make you the prime target, which is fine when you're on your own but Champion/Legendary bosses tend to scale up when there are more players around and then you could be the number one target for a boss that does a lot more damage suddenly. If you ever find yourself wondering why that boss is following you around and killing you while ignoring other players... celestial gear might very well be the reason. And then, ironically, a squishy power build might increase your survivability. So I'd say this video is more for above average casual players who do take an interest in the combat system and have more knowledge to start with.
I have personally done T4 Fractals & Recs & CM over 100 times as Alac/Quickness DPS Tempest/Firebrand accordingly and have faced no issues with completing the routine. With the right experience and rotations, Celestial gear can work just fine in Fractals imo 👍
I must say I completely agree, at some point I always was like "I need more VIT/THG" to survive or "I need more PWR/CON to do damage" and was never happy with the mixed results between runes and armor stats, however I started to find some decent middle ground like Marauder for instance for Power at least but a lot of weapons on different classes (I play 14 classes, almost 2 char x each class) were kind of hybrid? And I wasn't able to fully enjoy using some weapons on certain characters until I tried Celestial specifically for condi or not fully power characters and it has been amazing, the survivality and damage overall was so good I never went back to specific sets excepting few particular cases. Also with the level 80 boosters I got plenty of free celestial gear for the characters and moved into it without issues, specially classes that not only do damage but also depends on boons, heal or stuff like that always Celestial is a good compromise between them and gives plenty of flexibility for open world which is what I play 99,9% of the time
Solo is worse. With cele is easy to kill 95-98% of bounties and legendary bounties, with marauder/dragon at least 1/3 of them are really hard/impossible to kill (at least to me). Soloing HoT Hero Points with celestial means 6-8 gold coins in 30-35 minutoes with no deaths, trying the same as power Vindicator means having some deaths or slower fights because staying alive is much harder.
I like how it's default on boosted characters, as it's gave me a chance to experiment with different classes. I've got to say personally, especially if it's a character that doesn't rely on massive crit's like a power mesmer, necro, warrior etc. it's possibly the most versatile build you can use, and seems to be optimal if you have a cc heavy build, as you bunker through a lot of damage, but against certain monsters like the Vampire HP in HoT, i couldn't do it solo on necro as i just didn't have enough damage, but almost every other one in HoT, outside of a couple like the mushroom one, are definitely possible solo with cele.
I like celestial gear for boon uptime, heal power, toughness They make it so easy to play,I soloed my first dungeon with Celestial Scourge ,it was time consuming yes ,but I did it without even losing health.Nice video Hizen
I haven't watch the full video but I can say, yes, celestial is a very good build. I'm using your Untamed condi build with Celestial and I have been able to solo champions and stuff. ♥
I have a few newbie questions. I've been playing around 2.5 weeks now, and I just would like to play on my own in the open world completing maps on my necro. Last night i finally got my Reaper skills fully trained. Minutes ago I purchased the full six piece set of celestial armor. What should I use for back, rings, earrings, amulet and relic and what upgrades should I put in them? What upgrades should I put in my armor upgrade slots? I don't understand what is involved in getting trained for using swords. Thank you very much for the video, I find this game very overwhelming.
Celestial stats makes it convenient to play with any weapon combo, to make use out of all the functionality of their skills. It allows you to play how you want and still be able to complete all open world content as long as you have the knowledge and skill.
@@Im_sociaI they really aren't. In terms of build theorizing Condi builds only need condi damage and condi duration to deal good damage. Power builds need power, precision, and ferocity. The leeway condi builds have to squeeze in some healing power, or extra survive ability makes condi builds inherently more flexible while not sacrificing their damage. The same cannot be said about power builds. The best you can get without trashing your dps is full marauders.
@@dragonspit77 except all the top performing builds in any instanced content are power builds and it’s not even close, and to say the only thing a condo build needs to perform well is condition damage is flat out wrong, expertise and other stats are very much needed along with others. It’s very clear you are liking your own comments and don’t play at a high level
you can actually use celestial gear in raids but there is a very specific way to use it, you do not use it on dps you take it on healing builds to greed dps while still doing all the healer jobs, you should only do this if you are confident in your skills as a player and the rest of the party to not take big damage, and them you also have to be aware that some heal builds benefit more from this change than others scourge is generally the best option for doing this for both not sacrificing boons/healing and does more damage
With my 50+ world comps, I do agree that celestial is the best option to start with to learn the game since it's so forgiving with doing good dps, the selfsustain and longer boon uptime and you can pretty much "learn" the game on your own, at your own pace, without constantly needing help from friends, guilds, or people in the map. Once you are past that fase though, I really don't see the point of celestial anymore in open world stuff unless for one exception and that's solo'ing stuff that doesn't really need or isn't really supposed to be solo'd. You're just better off using meta events to practice your "endgame" builds to get a better feeling of how much damage you can actually take while bursting, when to pay more attention, and make your endgame build (or builds depending on how many profs and different builds you play) more of a second nature than to constantly swap between endgame builds and open world builds. It's just overcomplicating things while there's already too many endgame builds to fully master anyways, you're just better off practicing them on PvE content so you're used to using them in "hot" situations instead of on the static raid practice dummy which is a completely garbage way to train rotations imo because when those people get into raids/cms, their rotation completely falls apart as they aren't used to it in actual combat situations. And if you do run into something troublesome that you really need or want to kill alone, almost everything has a convert X% of damage to healing trait that does the job in most cases. Less troublesome than needing a celestial set on every char. Tldr: celestial to start with, one char with celestial to solo stuff for lulz: sure, but otherwise just use the meta builds/gear sets and maybe just tweak one or two traits and a utility for PvE that give you a stunbreak and some condi clear/boonrip or converts dmg to heals.
The thing about celestial damage is less about the damage you can do, and a lot about the damage CEILING. You are pretty much hard capped at whatever damage you can do with that celestial gear, but that is the BASELINE of damage on a vipers set. Once you start playing near others who are throwing out boons, celestial gear will barely increase in damage, but vipers will easily go as high as 30k+. It's rare you are genuinely alone playing for long periods of time in open world, celestial is fine, but it's main use is for soloing harder group content, and that's not where you spend most of your time. I love celestial gear when you are genuinely solo for its comfort, but it's not the be-all and end-all for all situations.
After using my Celestial-Firebrand for 276..... I hate every other stat combination XD The combination of tanky, still good enough damage, boon amplifiers and just the overall feeling that it's....more? idk, I just love it XD
For my open world builds I mix the stats. Armor is Celestial, trinkets and weapons are "DPS". I don't know if it makes any sense (I don't use DPS-meters etc), but I survive the fights I encounter and that's the importent thing! :D
Thats the beauty...as long as it works its perfectly fine 😊 Open world is like its name..open for all & everything ❤ Hizen is just offering options that are available to nearly all players 😊
For soloing champions and legendary enemies I always go with a celestial build for ease and comfort. Some bosses have a million CCs and condi spam, a zerk build will just get deleted in seconds. For everything else where sustain is not needed I pretty much just run full zerk.
Whenever I seen new people ask what gear stat to get first, I say celestial because it keeps you alive and has enough damage to kill stuff no matter what you choose to play. That was before they even added concentration and expertise.
I like my power spellbreaker with might makes right. D/A D/D, marauder/dragon mix w/ ranger runes. Used to use some knight's for the toughness, but switched it out and haven't been having any issues. Strawberry Cilantro Cheesecake and life steal on offhand. Generate might like crazy and constant heals. I used to use relic of the defender, but switched it out for wayfinder as I didn't find the extra healing to be needed and I prefer to move faster.
You've have me sold on cele for a while but I've also had a lot of fun with Diviner's for power scrapper and mace/mace untamed. It might not be optimal but it's comfy for me when I smooth brain my rotations and forget to refresh certain key boons. Any opinions on Celerity sigil, especially if it's an interrupt heavy build? I threw it on my power reaper so whenever I fear stuff I get additional quickness. Unless I don't, I am trash at number crunching and I may just be wasting a sigil spot lol.
As I watch this amazing video, I'm playing wvw with my cele mech and I can hear some people saying, through the mists, that it's unfair... the same people who only play using super banlancead burst builds with perm stealth and perma mobility. XD I need to get some popcorn...😏
Renegade can forgo toughness and vit and healing power for straight Grieving with the reworked trait. 10% all outgoing dmg to healing is OP. You will full heal without realizing it on a well placed shortbow 4 or mace 2.
Also to note, a lot of core areas, power is the only thing to destroy certain objects needed to pass, gates/walls/undead trebs ect. Conditions won't effect them. In that sense it is definately worth having a build swap (thankyou for finally implementing that after 10 years anet).
Ive had celestials for years. I like to swap up my builds and Elites, but not going to carry around 9 sets of gear, or bother with legendary equipment. Celestial gives me good enough (and sometimes BiS) stats for just about everything I want to try. Not only that, for Ascended, its really easy to get. and I only do open world content or occasionally stuff with my guild who dont care if I'm min/maxxed BiS.
The builds are separate in the discord server. and you dont have to scroll to find them, just clicked on the pinned message and you will see all of them. For example: all revenant builds, guides etc etc, are in revenant channel pinned messages.
The worst thing of Celestial is: expensive to buy on TP. Hard to craft because of the Quartz / time gated thing. Besides that, I agree: BEST SET. My first asceonded set was Celestial, I craft a light, medium and heavy, and use it for everything. Best investment I made so far.
If you enjoy/endure PvP just doing a single byzantium chest track in ranked season will provide you enough tokens to claim 3 ascended armor pieces (minimum); you can get a full set (and use it to craft the legendary PvP armors) in just 4 months. You can get also another 2 ascended armor pieces from the Wizzard Vault every 3 months.
Do you not have a partner link for purchasing janthir wilds expansion? I wanted to support one of the creators I enjoy. Funny how the ones I enjoy are not approved by ANet.

*grabs popcorn*
Now we wait for Masel's comment
Maybe, maybe not
What is your reshade preset
i dont any reshade
Celestial stats makes it convenient to play with any weapon combo, to make use out of all the functionality of their skills. It allows you to play how you want and still be able to complete all open world content as long as you have the knowledge and skill.
2:04 omg i literally just discovered this place today. I totally get this point Xg
AHH!
I wish Anet would give power builds and specs some more love in the next balance patch.
Acting like power builds aren’t the best pve builds by far is wild
@@Im_sociaI And you can't read because I mentioned expertise lol
@@dragonspit77 you’re actually dented lmao
you can actually use celestial gear in raids but there is a very specific way to use it, you do not use it on dps you take it on healing builds to greed dps while still doing all the healer jobs, you should only do this if you are confident in your skills as a player and the rest of the party to not take big damage, and them you also have to be aware that some heal builds benefit more from this change than others scourge is generally the best option for doing this for both not sacrificing boons/healing and does more damage
You have a good rainger build? With this armer. Ps i only have hart of thorns and path of fire. I enjoy the video
Please, my Lord, we want to see your separs builds!!! xD
Tldr: celestial to start with, one char with celestial to solo stuff for lulz: sure, but otherwise just use the meta builds/gear sets and maybe just tweak one or two traits and a utility for PvE that give you a stunbreak and some condi clear/boonrip or converts dmg to heals.
miss you hizen :/
It's always been my favorite stats for a long time.
Coming here just to see hizen content
Thats the beauty...as long as it works its perfectly fine 😊
Open world is like its name..open for all & everything ❤
Hizen is just offering options that are available to nearly all players 😊
It's crazy how celestial gear makes elementalist basically invincible
Thanks!
which rune for upgrade do u suggest
What shoulders are you wearing in the intro?
Mistforged Glorious Hero's Pauldrons
For soloing champions and legendary enemies I always go with a celestial build for ease and comfort. Some bosses have a million CCs and condi spam, a zerk build will just get deleted in seconds. For everything else where sustain is not needed I pretty much just run full zerk.
What in your opinion is the most fun open world celestial build? I want something with good aoe!
How much time takes you to solo Ignis and Butch withn that build?
@@Buran01 Haven't tried.
XD
I need to get some popcorn...😏
I wish you would have you builds listed seperately in the discord and not buried in a giant thread that you have to scroll forever to find anything.
The builds are separate in the discord server.
and you dont have to scroll to find them, just clicked on the pinned message and you will see all of them.
For example: all revenant builds, guides etc etc, are in revenant channel pinned messages.
@@LordHizen I see now. Thank you.
Doesn't celestial also just straight up have more total stats then any other?
The worst thing of Celestial is: expensive to buy on TP.
Hard to craft because of the Quartz / time gated thing.
Besides that, I agree: BEST SET. My first asceonded set was Celestial, I craft a light, medium and heavy, and use it for everything. Best investment I made so far.
The Prices is ~4g difference atm compare to other good sets.
And i agree Anet need to do something about the time gated to charge quartz
If you enjoy/endure PvP just doing a single byzantium chest track in ranked season will provide you enough tokens to claim 3 ascended armor pieces (minimum); you can get a full set (and use it to craft the legendary PvP armors) in just 4 months. You can get also another 2 ascended armor pieces from the Wizzard Vault every 3 months.
Good vid ty
Do you not have a partner link for purchasing janthir wilds expansion? I wanted to support one of the creators I enjoy. Funny how the ones I enjoy are not approved by ANet.
As others I hope you are healthy now. Have fun. :)
now my dumb question: any worthy build for Thief in Celestial for Specter? or deadeye? or Daredevil? ---again big brain Hizen dominating the scene. o/
How relevant is this after the cele nerf?
