Lucid Air Pure - DC Fast Charging Test and Charging Curve

- In this video we run a DC fast charging test on the Lucid Air Pure and pull together a charging curve graph.
We also test out the plug and play feature that Lucid has with Electrify America as part of their 3-years of free charging partnership.
We do run into some charging station bumps at the EA station that are discussed.
Enjoy! - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Just charged last night at an EA, and got full speed. Best part about it, there was a Polestar there charging that was at 50% when I plugged in and I was at 7%. By the time I hit 74% I was at 350 miles, and Mr. Polestar was at 90%....with a max range of 320! I was LMAO as I drove away with a larger charge and a faster time.
Fast charging speeds and an efficient car!!! A beautiful combination!!
Hello, any regrets or concerns about the Air Pure...as I am planning on getting soon. Thanks
It’s a great vehicle. The inside is very nice in my opinion. The perfect blend of luxury and minimalist. It drives great. Charges great. Storage is the best I’ve seen for a sedan. And it is still a head turner. More so than even our Rivian. The main negative is the regular dream drive which I have does not have a 360 camera or true lane centering. It has lane keep assist but it’ll ping ping you back and forth if you try to go hands free for a bit. At this price point, those should have been standard. If you got dream drive pro, this is a non-issue. The roof on the front end is a little low so you just need to get used to this when getting in and out of the car. The app is little slow to wake the vehicle at times but that will get fixed with software updates I’m sure. Other than those, it really is a great car. You’ll enjoy it for sure and won’t regret it!
In my AGT I've seen over 300kW occasionally but the 350kW EA chargers are not very reliable, especially when it's hot weather. For me, when travelling I often stop and just get a little charge every couple hours. This lets me stretch my legs and avoid fatigue. That can mean I sometimes plug in at 30% or more. In that case or if stopping for longer that 20 minutes (getting lunch or going shopping) I will just start out with the more reliable 150kW chargers. My Lucid regularly draws 171kW on the 150 chargers until the charging curve tapers off.
Yup! This is the way to do it for sure!
I had ordered a lucid but because the charging network (AE) is so inferior and undependable compared to tesla's super chargers, I canceled my order with lucid and rivian. I decided to keep my MX's. I have never been to a supercharger that has not worked flawlessly. 3rd party charging networks have been nothing headaches for me.
Tesla is opening up the networks soon. Rivian has announced they will provide adapters. Lucid, not yet, but they will once Tesla has more of their new chargers out there that can maximize the Lucid's charging speeds.
It will be good to see if the new Lucid cars including the Gravity will come with NACS ports as soon as Teslas charging stations are upgraded.
I was wondering if you were going get Signet surge. Did you happen to see the make of the charger?
Yes, I do believe these are the Signet Surge charging stations. The old ones were replaced with these at this location about 6-months ago.
@@EV-365 I'm glad you're posting. Not much on Lucid Pure here. Most are Lucid GT. I didn't see any charging rollercoaster on your video. Ramp up was a bit slow so you had to change stations. Perhaps with Pure and Touring being lower voltage they will not get the surge problem. EA has got to do better.
Recently EA has really dropped the ball on their Hyper Chargers....Where I would normally jump to over 300KW on the start, it now on the hyper charger is only pulling 30KW. And I don't charge during the day, I normally charge between 2 and 3 AM. Way off peak hours....I basically said to hell with it and charged at home. Stupid performance. I reported the experience with Lucid Custome Care and the logged the issue with EA. That was my only time I had such a terrible experience with them. But I noticed you had to press continue, which I have never had to do. But the time I just explained, I had to use the LUCID app to confirm charging, which I have never had to do before. So very frustrating, especially if you run the car down to those lower levels...because then you are stuck there until you can charge up enough to at least get home. SMH
The charging networks do need to step up their game big time!
What was the timing of this charge
The charge time was 43 minutes from 5% to 82%.
Can I use my home Tesla charge for lucid ?
They have adapters now. So I believe so.
Yes. You just need a NACS to CCS adaptor. These are available on Amazon. Tesla now makes a charger with the adaptor built in.
Does it bother you it doesn't have a glass roof?
It actually didn’t. Here in Texas it is so hot during the summer, I always cover our sunroofs or glass roofs. We covered the rivian one and have never taken the cover off since.
That is the only thing is holding me back to buy a Lucid ….The charging system. Not the car fault but its sucks…hard to beat Tesla charging….
Eventually, all of the networks should be open to everyone which will really help but the charging infrastructure is definitely a thing to factor in right now if you don’t have charging at home and/or take a lot of long road trips.
Tesla is opening all of their chargers to other cars so no issues
@@EV-365How many years away is that? 10?
@@amjads8971 integration is going to take years
@@Mr.CEO888 It’s already happening, by next year, tesla charging stations will be available to any automaker that wants to use their connectors.
But as I remember some Hyundai Ionic with 800 V does better - like 20 min from 10 to 80%.
Yes, Hyundai's have some of the best charging out there.
Slow charge on a fast cahrging station?
You are using EA charger so reliability is not built in..
Hit and miss for sure at EA!
EA sucks! Hated my Mach E GT for having to use these sub par 3rd party chargers. Tesla solves that issue
I guess if you have all day to hose around with stuff, Its great!
Too bad they don't put them at coffee shops. What a waste of time.
They will be there soon! Chai and a charge!
Seriously seems too much hassle for my liking.😮
It’s still early days so it’ll get better! But honestly, there is some fun to all of this. And if you have home charging, there is only the occasional thing to worry about when you’re road-tripping! For daily driving, an EV is much less hassle than a ICE vehicle IF you have home or work charging.
@@EV-365yes! stopping at gas stations every week is also a hassle. I plug in at home every night and wake up to a full "tank". Ive used fast chargers twice in the past year, both were at grocery stores, both times I plugged in, bought groceries, came back to a full car.
Oh my god 1 hour to recharge , take too much time
Most days I charge while I sleep at home so not really an issue. For road trips or if you do not have the ability to charge at home/office, it is something to consider...but again, with the Lucid, only if you are going somewhere well over 300 miles away, which should be a pretty small use case. Thanks for watching!
