- Here's a look at the new FulGaz Apple TV app, which was just released. This allows you to ride over 350 outdoor rides, indoors on your trainer, many of them in 4K as well. I give the new tvOS variant a go on an Apple TV 4K screen, trying out two different courses with a Wahoo KICKR CLIMB and a Wahoo KICKR CORE. Plus of course, the CycleOps rocker plate...because...overkill.

Hey, what kind of moving platform do you have under the kickr and climb?
This is the next level of zwift for those who don't need group rides. I wish I had the power and know how to pull my map data and imaging together for Android or Windows applications.

Could you make a list of similar cycling software and update it periodically? I have been zwifting for the last year but I am interested in exploring alternative options so it would be great to have somewhere an updated lost of what is available on the market :)
Good video, as you change speed the video sometimes stutters, was that off putting ?
I noticed this on the video, and I see this as well with mine. But to be honest, it doesn't happen all that often, so it's not as bad as you would think. EDIT: I also should point out that when I see this, it's usually because I'm going slower than than the actual film and when I speed up it will sometimes jerk a bit as it kicks into higher frame rates, but I will also stress that this doesn't happen all that often.
I wonder if they are looking for content from places outside of the classics in EU? Maybe I can put up a few rides we have here in Japan?
What do you prefer over this and Rouvy on appleTV?

I think it's a great choice. I see virtually no reason to spend the extra $300 on the KICKR 2018 vs CORE. Sure, the flywheel is bigger, but I can't notice it - and others that have compared the '17 vs '18 (since the CORE flywheel is essentially the '17 flywheel) don't notice it either. Both are equally as quiet. Only loss is adjustability of height of trainer, but no other trainers have that and nobody has ever complained about that on other trainers. Just my two cents...
Please explain to a non-native speaker... Zwift, Fulgaz: is substituting “s” with “z” makes you a faster rider?

I like the first person view. My main issue with zwift is 3rd person view

Yeah, I forgot to re-adjust the bike after a DCR Reader rode it the day before for some tests. My back is feeling it now! Doh!
I believe apple tv's bluetooth can only pair with two devices, in most cases that's the smart trainer and heart rate monitor.
Use 4iiii Viiiiva ....that works as a bridge and off you go :)
video looks nice and smooth. My biggest gripe with Zwift is that fake elevation data is passed on to Strava and my totals get skewed (I don't have a smart trainer - I prefer a fluid trainer). Can I bi-pass the elevation data with this?

Sadly, this won't work with MacOS. Why are so many companies writing apps to work with iOS and tvOS but not MacOS? We don't have TV in our house, but we do have a 27"5k iMac and loads of Mac laptops.
Apple is working on adding the ability to run iOS apps on MacOS so down the road we may be able to run on our Mac (laptop in garage for me).
this looks like a much better version of Velo Reality. I love the live video, real world scenario idea, much prefer riding the Tour of Flanders route than some mickey mouse world. Velo Reality really had some great videos but really suffered from the interface and usability being completely awful, this looks like it might have got things sorted!
Im not bothered about the group ride and social aspect of Zwift, just the pure training side so this is looking like its gonna lure me away.
Example 10m minutes in the video, it shows clearly a downhill ride, but the pct is 5% up hill, does that happen a lot... that the movie doesn't show what/where you are actually riding ??

Is there a way to have Trainer Road control your trainer in ERG mode while FulGaz runs as well? The idea being you could do a structured workout while having something to look at.
Yes, you can pair the Fulgaz side as a power meter instead of as a trainer. That’ll take care of it.

Will it work also on the older 3rd generation (A1469) Apple TV's? I see these can be purchased quite cheaply therefore I would love to put together a permament setup for "virtual biking"
No, it will only work with Apple TVs that have app store capability, ie: 4th gen or later, so at present that means Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4k.
Thanks Ray. Maybe a dumb question but what do you need to make this work, an appleTV and a television and their app on your iPhone? Would it work on an iPad?
You've got three ways you can run their app: Apple TV, iPad, or iPhone. When it comes to displaying it on a big screen TV, that's got basically two main ways:
A) Connect Apple TV to your TV
B) Buy an HDMI adapter for your iPhone/iPad and connect that to your TV.
If you've got an iPad already, then you can pickup the HDMI adapter for pretty cheap and be on your way! Note that while there are cheaper Lightning adapters on Amazon, for this specific adapter I generally recommend buying the legit one. As seen on the Amazon reviews, many of them (most?) tend to have issues and it's honestly just not worth the constant hassle. As you might know, for most things I hate buying the 1st party branded one as they're overpriced. But for your sanity on this thing, I'd recommend the Apple variant instead (www.apple.com/shop/product/MD826AM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter)
Use the air screen app which I use on a firestick. iPad mirrors the screen with the air screen app onto the tv through the firestick.
Hello, tried fulgaz today the first time, trainer neo1...disconnected the trainer from zwift, when i start riding for a few sec its o.k. but then such a hard resistance is kicked in that i cant pedal further. Connection is ant+... do you know what the problem maybe is?
A bit late... but use BlueTooth for the connection if you can. And make sure the trainer is truly not still connected to Zwift.... as in fully quit apps

I’ve noticed you don’t have cadence. I’m getting frustrated with this app that I don’t know how it can detect a cadence. I’m using Garmin sensors (new version without the magnet). I can’t find anything in their website.
The Garmin sensors don’t transmit Bluetooth Smart, which is required for Apple products since Apple doesn’t support ANT+ sensors.
I didn’t have cadence because the Apple TV is limited to two Bluetooth sensor channels, which I used up using the trainer and HR sensor.
@@Dcrainmaker Thanks Ray. I just realized that I have been stuck with garmin ant+ technology for a long time now and forgot the other brands that are out there. Got it all sorted with Wahoo sensors.
Solution to Missing Cadence is to use a TickR X HRM, which gives you both HR and cadence, so only counts as One device for Apple TV. It solves the problem.

Great videos. Hey did you ever get a bike fit? Seat looks a bit back or bike looks too small. Perhaps a a collaboration with Francis Cade, ( TH-cam) for a bike fit.
A bit more simple: I had a DCR Reader in the day before riding my bike testing some power meters, and totally forgot to change it back before I shot this video. Felt it on my back the next day!

Just iOS. I looked at FG a few years ago and was turned off then when they was iOS iPad only... Totally unacceptable.
Apple TV 4K is the optimal solution for these trainer Apps, it is powerful, cheap and very portable. At the moment I am still using Zwift, but I am not satisfied with the speed and direction of development of Zwift so that I am gonna leave them as soon as possible. Fulgaz looks very nice and I hope we will see RGT on Apple TV soon - these are my favorite Zwift alternatives.
Zwiesel66 IMHO Apple TV is just an overpriced piece of crap, same as iPhone and iPad. No way I'm getting locked into the Apple corral for this.
I respect your opinion, but I think you have no own experience with any Apple hardware. if I follow your conviction, then you would rather buy a PC for over 2000€ to play Zwift in 4K than an Apple TV 4k for 200€ - right?! I doubt that this is a senseful economic decision, don't you think too ?
Zwiesel66 I already have a PC, no need to buy anything extra. And the rest of the Apple TV functionality I can get it in the Xbox or Playstation, Amazon fire TV, Google whatever for way less money. I had an iPhone once and it's the worse phone experience I've ever had.

Cool stuff but unfortunately I don't support anything Apple. The VR stuff from Tacx and Road Gran Tours is more to liking because real videos even in 4K are hard on the eyes.
