This was super, super informative. Lots of great information. I adore your tutorials. They are so easy to follow and you don’t rush through things like some people doing the reborn version of the Indy-500. This was the perfect pace and everything was explained so thoroughly. I love it. ❤️❤️
That's just the nature of vinyl. When you dress/re-dress dolls, the clothing actually polishes the vinyl and makes it shiny. You can always touch up shiny vinyl with air dry Folk Art Outdoor Matte Sealer. It works great - just apply to a cosmetic wedge. You need to change you sponge often, and need to wash your paint brush often though. Work in small sections at a time.
@@lifewithsharonb5138 thank you for this information. With your videos I’m starting to make my first reborn. I found a shop here in the Netherlands that had/has the folk art medium. Your information is very helpful for me. So thank you!
@@lifewithsharonb5138 Thank you, so what is the correct and incorrect as i applied some of the tile and glass version on top of a painted with genesis paints doll and the stuff flaked off the legs recently but its very possible one i used was like out of date? I did a doll using this for my daughter-in-law on a very shiny doll, years ago ,had to apply a few coats but it worked a dream but doll not played with though.
I like and use them both. If done properly, they both work the same. The air dry matte mediums are getting harder to find unless you buy the 'set'. I like craft acrylics though.

@@lifewithsharonb5138 thanku for your reply 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi. Does it matter what brand of matte varnish I use for air dry paints?
Yes, absolutely. I recommend Folk Art Outdoor Sealer or Folk Art Glass & Tile Medium.
So its ok to use genesis varnish over acrylic painted vinyl? Bake on of course.
Yes!
Sealing is also possible with the glass&tile medium of folk art?
Yes!

Yes it is and it works on genesis heat set paints too but im not sure how it compared as to wear and tear with dolls being played with.
@@suyung58 If done correctly, acrylics applied correctly on vinyl last just as long as heat set paints!

Sharon didn’t I see you used that glass and tile varnish before you painted the vinyl to seal it?
No, I simply put the first flesh coat layer on with the medium mixed in - both for acrylics and for Genesis paints.
@@lifewithsharonb5138 so do you only apply the glass & tile medium 1 time?
@@vickyj1626 By itself, yes, at the end of the painting process.
I habe been adding my matte medium gel to my paint. Do I still have to varnish it afterwards?
I do. I use Folk Art Outdoor Matte Sealer if I'm using acrylic paints. I use heat set matte varnish if I'm using GHSP.
I’ve heard that the folk art can make the paint peel. Have you had any issues with this?
No, never. I use many, very thin layers. Same with the matte varnish.
Hola!! Soy seguidora suya, no seria posible subtitularlo en Español.Gracias
I don't know how to do that. Sorry. I use google translate for reading your comments.
Is there a better way to paint?? Air dry vs heat??

Is it OK if you don't use distilled water?
I prefer distilled water. No minerals. You can get it at the supermarket for a dollar. It's worth the investment.
