~Lifelong singer, here, as well as a voice actor. I've never, once, considered using that part of my throat for singing. I got chills when I tried it. Your comparison to doing that "character" voice and using the same part of your throat for singing... that's inspiring. I never would have thought about that, and now I'll never sing without being mindful of it. Thank you so very much. You'll never know how much that meant to me :)

It also depends on how you want to sound. A lot of young singers today are under-energized. They rely solely on head voice rather than doing the work to develop levels of mix. They blow a lot or air through the vocal folds, (breathy singing) drying them out, and getting themselves into trouble.

Thank you for this. I began to discover this for a cover I have to sing at a gig, but your video offered the explanation of what I’ve been accidentally learning to get around words, volume, texture and curvature. Thank you 🧡

Thanks for making things real. People have false ideas about what professional singers do. We imagine Metal Rock singers with blood coming out of their mouth. Phil Collins sounds big in certain songs, but I doubt he is so loud in person. He just knows how to use microphones and has great sound engineers.

Would you say that trying to being resonant is preferable to trying to be loud? Better be more resonant using openess than being loud while pushing. Not sure if I'm clear, but I'm sure you'll know what I mean.

Is the video where you break down Taylor Swift's "Style" the correct exercises to accomplish this?
