Tips that help a little: - warm ur voice with a piano (select notes in order and if the note is higher so make ur voice, when the pianokey gets lower so ur voice), do this for 5-10 minutes, u can choose - U NEED to relax those shoulders (i know at first its hard, but not impossible) , also breath deeply before singing relax, sit straight, and when singing don't ONLY move mouth, u dont need to move all ur body ( when u get better u can move more) finally find a comfortable position. -DO NOT restrain yourself if u try to sing low it wont work (im not saying u need to scream), but u get it. ( I KNOW UR FAMILY MAY BE THERE) so close ur door thats all, if u have siblings get them out the room. -also very important, find ur type of voice, sing with normal tone, so u find what works for u (if u do find, it will be easier) - DO NOT IMITATE THE VOICE OF UR FAVORITE SINGER, i know because i went threw the same thing, it gets easier when u sing WITH UR VOICE - once u think ur ready, try doing karaoke to easy songs u know it took a couple of days but i got better, i hope u too
A lot of things depend on your goal. If I don't manage to imitate other singers then I've failed in what I wish to do. I'm not going to give up just because of advice to stay in one's comfort zone.
It's not necessarily meant as an analogy. You can literally do the exercise with straw. This also creates a little back pressure on the vocal folds, which saves strain on the voice.
The key takeaways: Resist the temptation to squeeze it out. 2.) .keep the openness, Do not close the pipe if you close the pipe you won't have full control. 3.) Let it flow slowly
When I sing it sounds like I’m trying to talk loudly across a classroom. (I’m a quiet person so it kinda feels like I’m straining my voice a bit while trying to hold back)
Ok sooo here is my problem, I don’t know where to change the tones of my voice, The throat, the back of the throat or the chest idk 🤷🏻♂️. Every time I sing, my throat just feels soar and stressed even when it’s low tones. /: Honestly I’m loosing hope 😔
DONT LOSE HOPE!!! REMEMBER THAT ARIANA GRANDE DID NOT GET IN HER SCHOOL CHORUS WHEN SHE WAS LITTLE!!!! AND NOW SHE IS A POWERFUL WOMANNNN!!! JUST PRACTISSSSEEEE!!!!! i belive in you💜
What helps me actually is thinking that I have a little imaginary ball going around my body and it lands on wherever I want to focus my singing on. If I want to do chest voice I imagine it hops on over there and then my voice naturally maneuvers over to chest! I know it sounds incredibly silly but it’s what I do :):)
This one is absolutely essential! Most important information explained in a short video! And by the way, I'd like to have the song with the melody-line you sang at the very end, Freya!😉😊
I love your way of explaining things. I have such a hard time with breath control and engaging the right muscles. I understand the theory and I've seen other teachers using pictures to visualize the parts we need to engage but I can't seem to do it right. My singing is so random. Sometimes it sounds good, sometimes it doesn't, I can't control it. I'm really looking forward to the day I learn how to be in control!
Omg you explained this in a way that I understand! Ive been singing with a teacher for almost a year and finally conceptualized breath control for the first time ! Thank you so much💕💕💕
When i inhale to support my note i feel like i take to much air in and when I start singing it just goes out of control. Even if I take a little bit of air I feel like its sm!
This made me work my core muscles in a way I've never worked them before lol. Thank you so much for this video, I feel ready to use what I've learned to improve the quality of my sound!
This is very good explanation for how to inhale and exhale evenly to have nice tone. This is what i have been looking for. Thanks for sharing your knowledge here
I know this is a older video..but this is some great news!! Was feeling a little down about my progress I wish I had this knowledge sooner can tell it's helpful already! Thanks so much ❤for this!!
I learned from this video that bravado is essentially like going from classical physics to wave based physics, where you have Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. That's actually genius. You didn't specifically mention the H.U.P. by name, but like all your brilliant explanations of the voice, I was able to make that connection. I've been thinking about that idea more vaguely but the way you articulated it was really good. This whole video is a gem like that. You helped so much with thinking about how things work and confirming things I had suspected.
This seems one of your best advice videos. My attention isn't as good as it used to be in my prime, so I'm going to have to replay it a few times more to ensure all has sunk in; but it seems to tackle issues that I think I have. Thank you. (BTW To me vibrato always sounds like the singer isn't capable of holding a note. It really surprised me when I first came across the idea that they were deliberately failing to hold it.)
Thank you Freya, I love that video that helped me a lot to visualize in my mind my breathing system and really understand why the end of my phrases was sounding weird. 🙏
I think my problem is that I’m naturally a jazzy runner / Rifter, I can control it until I get nervous , once I’m nervous I start running all up & down scales not TOOOO much , but to where hardly any of my notes really sustain 🤦🏾♂️
Breathe clamly especially when faster. Inhale have open throat. Expansion in ribs and belly as lungs fill up with air. Engage the muscle keeping the air in and out (ab muscles but all around the belly). Manage air. Pay attention on even air.
Start with nasal sound "nnn" Need the support engagement. 2. Keep the pitch nice and steady. Need compresion. Close tighter or loser. Support air string Like a straw "pinching" but pressure increases.
"Na" and "Yah" no accent. Absolute Control in the beginning. "Lah" "Mah" "Yah" • ending of the pitch - resist temptation to squize. Make sure to keep the open space. Don't close the pipe. Continous support is really important. Don't lean on the vocal cord. Keep the support at all times. When softer - activate support even more, by doing sometjing dynamically. Soft palate is lifted.

That analogy with the straw was absolutely perfect.

How is it going?
@@SpartanGerar good bro I finally found my voice!

I cannot breathe calmly because I always have colds and coughs ToT
I have asthma that can be trigger by just laughing 😑
Nasal rinses saved my life. struggled with colds and coughs for all my life.

I was literally just about to look for a video on this! Thank you so much!

This was EXCELLENT!! So thorough and I will watch this over and over. Thank you !!
Really useful and well presented - excellent understanding of the aspects of voice control. Thank you so much
Absolutely, totally, spot on, real world excellent tutorial.
Thanks alt! Exactly what i was looking for. Also great job explaining so well : )

my voice when singing high notes is just practically shouting and i don't like it 🤣
bruh i feel u😭🤚🏽
When I do belting I’m really loud, and when I do head voice it’s very quiet but when I try to do a mixture it’s very croaky and it sounds weird /:
Relatable☺

This is very good explanation for how to inhale and exhale evenly to have nice tone. This is what i have been looking for. Thanks for sharing your knowledge here
Wow that's amazing I have learnt a lot from this sis thx very much
You help me a lot! I am developing a vibrato thanks to your help. And many other singing techniques.
Good information I will practice for the next few weeks
I love her teaching so much ❤️❤️

Freya, one of your very best singing lessons
Thank you so much my music teacher don’t like me for a bad voice and won’t let me sing solo thank you so much 🙏🙏
This really helps. Thank u Freya☺️
Hi Freya: Can you please tell me the name of the song or music at the end of your video? The melody is so beautiful~ Thank you!
I learned from this video that bravado is essentially like going from classical physics to wave based physics, where you have Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.

I FEEL THE CONTROL!! omg thank you so much! This is a game changer. I will keep practicing, you're great at explaining and teaching. 🖤
I Love flexing/compressing the diaphragm for control! Hallelujah Freya Hallelujah
My voice is just all over the right place
Exactly what I needed thank you ❤️
Thanks Freya
I keep changing my voice when singing, for example if i were to do a little bit of a high note i would sound very high but I want to sound normally.
Brilliant! Thank you.❤
Thank you for a very helpful video. You explain the reason to do things very clearly and in an entertaining fashion.
Thank you so much!! 🙌
I laughed when she did an example of what it sounds like when its the air flow isn't correct because thats what I sound like 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LMAO
Thank you, thank you so much. It helped me so much!!! ❤️
This is a fantastic video! Thank you!!
When I sing I feel like I’m gonna pass out
This is sooo helpful. Thanks a lot❤
Thank you Freya, I love that video that helped me a lot to visualize in my mind my breathing system and really understand why the end of my phrases was sounding weird. 🙏
Good one Freya. That small tapering of dynamics really helps with the end of notes! ☺️
Thank you ma'am
Thank you! This really helped
Whenever I see your thumbnail i expect something useful and i gets it
You rock! Really ... 💛
Thanks alot
Thank you So much for Sharing....
Great advice, thank you!!
Thing about the epiglottis is the real thing. Thanks
You sing so sweet, like a laser ray. I will follow your tips with pleasure.
I love this thank you
When I breathe like how you are saying (expanding) I feel like I'm not getting a full breath
when i sing i feel like impushing on my voice but idk how to fix it :(
I love you 😘
Like when i sing it starts well but if I do a note like (and iiiiiiii) my voice glitch or some
Por favor dinde estan los videos en español
I think my problem is that I’m naturally a jazzy runner / Rifter, I can control it until I get nervous , once I’m nervous I start running all up & down scales not TOOOO much , but to where hardly any of my notes really sustain 🤦🏾♂️
i can control my voice but the only problem my potato phone my voice makes weird but i'm happy there's still support me.
Tq
Ummm??Wassup??
I can't properly transition my low tone into a high tone, during the transition I stop making any noise then come back higher
Haha, I needed this, I just covered a song by Adele and at the beginning it sounded well but, at the very end I messed up, hahahaha
Lavie is it hello ????
how to control vocal cords ?
When I sing sometimes on certain notes it gets raspy it sounds good but it hurts
my throat always dries out in the middle of singing no matter how hydrated i am. i have to clear my throat every like minute
My voice is very sharp so when I go for high songs it sounds to weird and it's cringe too!! So all o have to do is control my sharp voice〒_〒💔
How does Madonna perform
< sing> in her designer corsets and other tight fitting costumes!? 🤔
Me who can't sing: interesting
I have a good voice, but sometimes I sing edges when I shouldn't. It ruins everything I'm singing, even if it happens rarely
Need expansion.
Breathe clamly especially when faster. Inhale have open throat. Expansion in ribs and belly as lungs fill up with air. Engage the muscle keeping the air in and out (ab muscles but all around the belly).
Manage air. Pay attention on even air.
Start with nasal sound "nnn"
Need the support engagement.
2. Keep the pitch nice and steady. Need compresion.
Close tighter or loser.
Support air string
Like a straw "pinching" but pressure increases.
"Na" and "Yah" no accent.
Absolute Control in the beginning.
"Lah" "Mah" "Yah"
• ending of the pitch - resist temptation to squize. Make sure to keep the open space. Don't close the pipe. Continous support is really important. Don't lean on the vocal cord. Keep the support at all times.
When softer - activate support even more, by doing sometjing dynamically. Soft palate is lifted.
Flat pitches tend to be flat because we can't hear our voice.
Change the vowels softly.
Or undertension closing the vowel a bit.
Thank youu so much!! :D I've learned a lot!

Who is learning with me in 2021
🙏🙏❤️
I can't even sing a proper Folk Song, that's why i'm here.
Not reccomended while high I almost blacked out while trying to do that
I feel like I have 2 voices so I came here
i think i have 5 voices...lol
I always end up changing key through the whole song it’s realty annoying
Thought i heard a mosquito for a sec😬💔
I think I'm stupid😓 I domt understand😖😖
bruh its so out of control to he point i sond like a screeching monster
Shaky.. wobbly.. not even a note, just a sound.
These are descriptions of my singing during the song Hurt by Christina Aguilera.
Thanks Freya
