A. Vocal Fry Scale at 1:20 B. “Ng” sound for pharyngeal cavity at 2:32 C. “Gee gee” sound for the head voice at 4:20 D. “Aah” sound for the chest voice at 6:05 E. “Meh” whiny sound for mixed voice at 7:12
Thanks Sophie, you're techniques real do work !!! God bless you for sharing these subjects on vocal training as you bring new, intelligent points to life in me & surely anyone who tries them.
You're the best! These exercises have helped me to transition from Gospel Choir in which I was a strong tenor, to a soloist in which all that volume and hollering just isn't necessary. Thanks for your warm ups and vocal techniques. I'll swing by daily.
I have my first karaoke contest tonight..It's 10:50 AM now, With God and Sophies help, I'm going to sing an Avalon song. "ALL" Gonna try and hit that high note tonight..Thanks Sophie!
This is great. I had a throat infection and laryingitis about 6 weeks ago and my singing voice just never quite came back. I have tried these every 2nd day and am seeing great improvement.
Thank you the warm up gave result immediately. I have went to some lesson´s but I can´t really do the worm up fully on my own properly so this helps a lot. When I feel my voice and body giving this hard but steady vibration´s usually it means that I got a lot of strenght without pusing myself hard at all. It all comes flowingly.
Ive watched hundreds of singing videos, took lessons with four different teachers, bought Singing Success and a few weeks ago and currently working on it. Started singing in a band and looking for quick tips to help me out with some areas and WOW. I have to say, out of all I had just mentioned you are by FAR the best instructor, at least for me. Im going to look at your website and see if you offer lessons.
So initially I wanna thank you thousands times for help. And I'm pretty sure that I will follow your tips and finding my real voice and after to be capable of developing it. God bless you.
This is one of the best vocal warm up videos I've ever seen so far 😍🌟 teaches clearly, so determined and helpful! For all voices love it so. Thanks so much :)
+Songbird Supreme i have the same problem ! you mean you are hitting high notes not very powerfully and also not breathy. have you find solution for this problem . share it plz
Try an NG sound and focus the sound in your mask (mustache area and bridge of your nose). Do a couple of small scales throughout your vocal range, as this is most likely your mix voice that needs to be strengthened. Hope that helps!
Janice Jacobs After 2 months of practice 1 hour a day without stopping and also focus on high notes by download a piano program on my pc and work these notes which i want and that's did great for me. first half hour or 20 minutes warmup and about 30-45 minutes playing on that piano and shouting with it i go low and high and keep cracking but i didn't give up.And now !!! i can sing Adele-Hello comfortably i hit that high notes very easy with power-full voice and all of that happen in 2 month. What if i keep practicing for 1 year i could open channel on youtube and sing and thats my dream :) i just have to wait 1 year its easy :D i hope i helped you guys i have shared my training secrets with you and i swear it's work just keep hitting these notes every day and will work
iAiM- SkyNet That's awesome! Make sue you're being healthy - take breaks regularly (an hour non-stop is nor good for your voice) and stay hydrated! Also make sure that you're working through your breaks steadily, shouting is not always good for your voice. And don't forget to cool down!! That's very important! Good luck, I can't wait to hear you :)
Thanks, Sophie ;) I love the leaning forward technique you describe in the third exercise. I had forgotten about it and used it with a student today. It really does help the sound 'fall into the right cavity'. We noticed that if you lean over with making sound with your mouth open you can feel your soft palate falling open with gravity. pretty cool!
love your hair and eyes and best of all these wonderful tricks! i need help overcoming mid-range breaking, i can healthfully produce notes through most my range, but there are "problem areas" that crack and falter, yet i am able to sing higher and lower than those specific problem ranges is this from improper technique when i was younger?
Hi Olivia. If you are cracking in your midrange, then yes; You are probably not using great technique. If you add some whiny sounds on your break, it will help smooth them out.
Hi Sophie, you mentioned for the second exercise to put your thumb under your chin to keep the muscles from pulling down, should we feel them move at all? For me, the muscles move with each note change, but they don't stay pulled down. Is this ok or shouldn't they be moving at all? Thanks :) x
@@sabrinasalomon8977 Try incorporating tension releasing exercises specifically for the tongue . It’s not impossible to hit it with little movement in the chin region but like she said it’s just unnecessary tension making it more difficult than what is necessary i find that singing feels the easiest and most effortless with an all around better sound when I feel nothing under the chin. But I just realized this comment is 5 years old so I’m sure you’ve fogies this out by now but just incase others find themselves with the same question as you guys
I love your videos! I am a singer/songwriter that recently developed a polyp (no surgery required) but they did not tell me how to get rid of this, could you make a video on fixing this maybe? Please help!
+2SUPERgirls remember to be realistic - you'll have to put in some work whatever system you follow for learning to sing I have spent months researching into how to play singing and found a great website at Bens Singer Blog (check it out on google)
Sophie, thank you, I love your videos! One question for exercise B: it sounds as if you are singing something like "uuhng" but then you also say that you are breathing through the mouth, which would be impossible if that was the case! What is the sound you are singing?
Hi Sophie! I have one question. Are we supposed to breathe through our nose or mouth while singing? I heard some people say mouth breathing can be bad, but I've also heard breathing through the nose while singing isn't correct, and I just would like to know which one is the proper way. Thanks for all of these educational videos.
Hi Sophie, Thanks for the awesome warm-up! I'm quite new to singing and am having trouble letting out air while singing. My breathing is okay, but during singing I struggle to let-out air. Is there any exercise you could recommend for this?
A. Vocal Fry Scale at 1:20
B. “Ng” sound for pharyngeal cavity at 2:32
C. “Gee gee” sound for the head voice at 4:20
D. “Aah” sound for the chest voice at 6:05
E. “Meh” whiny sound for mixed voice at 7:12
Oh THANKS for doing this, breaking it down this way. Really helps.
Thx so much
i'm shook, noticed a huge difference in placement of my voice already with the second exercise. HELL YES
I swear you're the best vocal teacher
