E-Day is the equivalent towards similar events like; The Nuclear War in Fallout, Resonance Cascade are some examples. I remember so much lore being put in about how E-Day went down. However never got a flashback or anything to show what happened besides lore said in voice-lines and cutscenes. They can't fuck up what is an important piece of storytelling to this franchise. With so many fans having their love for Gears reignited for E-Day, cannot fuck it up.
I’m still hopeful for the new gears game. Then again, people were hopeful for halo infinite and now I don’t hear anyone talking about it. EDIT: at the very most this game could be a way to introduce bunch of locust variants for the next (after e-day) gears game’s horde mode
I think is very funny that they actually are aware that no one cares about Gears 6 so they just went to the beginning again. I remain hopeful that they can make it good but only time can tell. We actually need prequels and a collection not sequels
It's called pattern recognition. If a company makes multiple games in a row that are bad, good or average. It's not out of the question that the next could very well be the same. Perfect example is the halo games. Halo 1, 2, 3 and reach were very good games. Then 343 bought the I.P from bungie and every game after the acquisition was bad or just meh.

That's smart, and the Fenix is right behind. I'm pretty sure we have great Years ahead of us. Gears Tactis was not perfect, but it was enough after gears 4-5 failure tu sustain fans interest.
A new team is handling this. The Team from Gears 4 & 5 are no longer handling the games. Apparently this new team has a different vision for Gears which is why this looks and feels different.

I'm not holding my breath for this. I'm too pessimistic after Halo, Fallout, Mass Effect, Battlefield, COD, and other childhood franchises going into the gutter in terms of quality. But, we'll wait and see. Even if GOW E-Day released alongside or with a Fenix Collection, I think of Halo MCC's disastrous release - taking a good 5 years before the game worked properly. Many older gamers have just been burned too many times to be overly hyped.
My biggest concern is if they're doing a prequel to further recon how the Lambent worked. Other than that, I'm going to be optimistic since we only have the trailer. If the gameplay is like the trailer, then I say we might be good.
I do understand what you mean with this, but i think its too early to say much about the game. Its true that the coalition failed on Gears 4 and 5. I will point my finger towards one of the main issues.. Rod Ferguson. That man have done things that made Gears flops since Judgement. He original did not want the lancer to have a chainsaw and lots of cool ideas he just put down etc. Even Cliffy B says negative things about him and they even had a fight over Twitter Im so happy that Rod left the coalition and new leadership on the team that can turn the games back to the glory
They weren't trying to make the original trilogy with gears 4 and 5 that's why the games were hated they took it in a whole new direction this is the first time theyre trying to give gears fans what they want let them try before saying they cant
Just give it time. I personaly like them all. I never really cared about the company maker, however, story wise I think is cool how they have followed throught with the lore. Multiplayer is good but again, I mainly play in local LAN with my friends in my house, so I don't really know how the online multiplayer really is. Each to their own tho!.
I personally liked Gears 4 and 5. Yes I do think that they could've done more with the new characters but they're also juggling with introducing the new enemies and trying to tell a new story. Gears of War 4 had somewhat of a horror tone in my opinion. Gears 5 had a decent campaign minus the choice thing, but the multiplayer and customization was handled badly. They changed their minds a lot, and I also think they took a lot of inspiration from the other popular shooters like COD and Fortnite when they started out. Then the fans said something and they changed it. Gears 5 still feels like it could've had a much longer life span. Gears Tactics wasn't for everyone but I enjoyed it. The story wasn't anything amazing but it brought something new and fresh and also added new lore which is always welcome in my book. Of course nothing can beat the originals, but Gears 4 and 5 aren't bad games at least in my opinion. After Gears 5's ending, I have a feeling that Gears 6 is gonna move into a darker direction since the COG's main capital was destroyed. The original games took place in the middle of the war so it felt more desperate and hopeless. With Gears 3 having a hopefull ending, it's gonna carry over somewhat into 4 and 5. The feeling of hopelessness has to come back gradually, especially since Gears 4 was sort of like setting up the threat of the swarm.
Sadly No MF Collection! i really wanna play Gears of war 2 & 3 Story mode & Horde mode Beast mode on PC i don't understand why its not on PC like Halo MCC is Already like are they dumb. not gonna lie i really miss the good AI on Gears of war 2 3 like Gears 5 AI are just boring meh

Gears 4 and Gears 5 were NOT bad games they just werent good gears games this isnt a 343 situation so there is still hope for Edays in that aspect and them talking about going back to the horror of Gears definitely give me hope itll at least feel like gears when youre playing
As a Gears of War fan 4&5 were not bad games. The writing for the story was shit that was the issue. But you forget Rod Fergusson worked on the OG Gears of War. He's also put alot if effort in helping Blizzard with Diablo 4. I think going back to the OG style will be a refresh an then they will do Gears of war 6
The only point you could make is that it goes woke garbage like Gears 5. Multiplayer can be what it is, but this is about the survival of Gears as a STORY! This campaign better be true to the lore. If not it fails. Other than that, you gave a real crap take in doubting. Though, i do get why now adays.
So you cry and whine and complain about 4 and 5 being terrible but then they dont continue the terrible trilogy and you whine and cry about how theyre not making 6 and "ignoring the fans?" (Who supposedly hate the new games too)
Hey Mildchrisp, seriously, you need to calm down with all this doom and gloom about Gears of War: E-Day. The Coalition has proven themselves time and time again with this franchise. Gears 4 and 5 were great, and they were great because The Coalition knows how to handle this series. They're keeping what makes Gears awesome while also bringing in new ideas and improvements. They're not going to suddenly screw it all up with E-Day, so stop acting like the sky is falling. And honestly, your nostalgia for Gears of War 1-3 is getting ridiculous. Those games are overrated and kind of bad if we're being real. Clunky mechanics, repetitive gameplay, and some seriously cringe-worthy moments-we all remember them. The series has evolved for the better, and it's time to accept that. You're stuck in the past and it's making you blind to how much better the games have gotten. Instead of being so hyperbolic and negative, how about giving The Coalition the benefit of the doubt? They're doing a great job, and E-Day is likely to be just as good, if not better, than the old games you keep glorifying.
hold up. I can't believe how dismissive you're being about Gears of War 1-3. Calling them "overrated and kind of bad" is just plain wrong, and honestly, you sound like a dummy. Those games defined the franchise and set the standard for third-person shooters. They had their quirks, sure, but they were revolutionary for their time, offering intense gameplay, memorable characters, and a gripping story. Your nostalgia-bashing is absurd-those games deserve the respect they get because they earned it. And about The Coalition, sure, they've done well with Gears 4 and 5, but let's not act like they're untouchable. It's completely reasonable to have concerns about Gears of War: E-Day. The series has had its ups and downs, and a little skepticism is healthy. Blindly trusting the developers is naive. Being critical and voicing concerns ensures they stay on their toes and deliver quality games. Dismissing valid worries as just being "stuck in the past" is ridiculous. We need to keep our expectations high to make sure the franchise stays great. Stop acting like everything new is automatically better and show some respect for what made Gears of War legendary in the first place.
Wow clearly you never played the old game bro. There's a reason why the majority dislike the 4 and 5 there's even tons of video videos that talk about it. Are the old once great yes are they perfect maybe not but mostly perfect.
