Although i feel gears 5 end of life MP was decent, it just feels so bland, soulless, and uninspired. We need ACTUAL progression like in Gears 3 with the war journal that puts value behind cosmetics and play time other than mindlessly playing to save up x amount of y currency to by z cosmetic. Also gameplay feels wayyy too dumbed down and weightless from the actual mechanics to sound design to visual design. We also need a fresh batch of GOOD game modes, koth is a classic but we need something fresh thats actually fun to play. Horde mode feels like an endless mess, with no actual stakes but your older vids do a great job of explaining that. Finally, with the addition of sprays and emotes etc the fortnite-ization of gears 5 gave it a complete tonal mismatch and took away from gears being gears. It lost identity and character just to pander to a woder audience who played the mp and shelved it as soon as they realised what an underbaked mess it was with streamers like DrDisrespect being a prime example.
We will never get gears 3 type of progression, companies don’t do that anymore. Nowadays the most you can earn is an emblem or namecard, or if your lucky some boring cosmetic. We never got new game modes because they put all the stocks on escape and arcade, and both ended up being duds. The tonal shift started all the way back during gears 4 and probably won’t ever change because they’re trying to copy more popular games, hoping to bring in new/more casual players.
Gears 3 was the best MP experience IMO. The weapon balancing in 4 and especially 5 never felt quite right and in honestly, I blame eSports. Mortal kombat had the same issue with MK11 but fixed it with mk1, so i wonder if TC will take notes
I agree with a lot of your claims, gears 5 movement is very easy, the game is way to slow and honestly it doesn't even feel good to have mastered it. Wallbouncing in gears of war 3 it takes a lot of determination, that's why there's not many people that are good at it. Most of all, wallbouncing in gears 3 actually matters and it does something, when you wallbounce in gears 5 no matter what unless you're fighting a player who struggles in the aim department, you're going to get hit. Gears of war has always been a shotgun-based game for the most part, I think it should stay that way. In my experience that's the most fun way to play the game, I can't stand camping back with an AR just chipping away at health for my kill just to be taken. It's boring and unengaging.

Gears 5 was made with esports in mind. And their problem was that this game never got enough content to keep it in esports. So the playerbase died when content stopped. When the stupid currency was implented like in 4 and when the casuals stopped playing bc they got stomped by sweaty PC players. Gears 5 had potential if they stuck to the ingredients thats made the first trilogy amazing. Gritty atmosphere. Player progression that offered rewards. Actual diverse weapons and my biggest gripe of all is that all the base weapons offer no active reloads. Theres no reward to playing the gears 5 multiplayer any other way other than gnasher fest. Which isnt bad in itself bc all gears MP end that way but you had options with the sawed off the retro the hammer. The rifles could still outplay the shotguns. But it isnt that way anymore and it makes it so stale its just shotgun or power weapons no in between. Gears 3 and gears 2 had it perfect. Gears 4 was decent but in comparison to 5 gears 4 is still the best for character customization skins and the feel of 3
Gears 5 makes me miss loot boxes. Going back to gears 4 honestly reminds me why I loved gears. Lowkey such a great game pvp and pve wise, story is still buns at the end of the day unfortunately.

When it first came out the lancer and the flash grenade were abused to hell to the point where if you were using gnasher, you didnt even get a chance to get up close let alone get a single shot on the enemy. Now I am seeing the complete opposite with the lancer being as weak as a snub pistol and having the recoil of a gears 3 retro lancer for absolutely no reason. Its like there is no in-between with these weapon tunings, like either make them extremely weak and unbalanced or just flat out them weapons of mass destruction lol

Shocked that it has no dlc, just one hiveuster and 2 skins from Reach. No lie i bought this game with the expectation that it'd be way better than Gears 3 at least, But it's crazy how the game is not. just the horde mode, thats insanely good

Sorry man but i can't agree, Gears 5 is personally my favorite when it comes to gameplay, you don't get stuck on cover, you move insanely smoothly, and the gunplay is also insanely smooth.

I never play ranked MP anymore. if I feel like playing the game I will just go into a custom game and we have our own little community there.

Remember in Gears of War 3 when you didn't an Xbox subscription to play a private game of Horde. They need to reimplement this in future Gears.
