I didn't realize there was a difference between claws and fists. That explains why I changed weapons as an "upgrade" but it felt like I was doing less ki damage.
The fact that fists have royal guard from dmc makes me happy
Damn I thought you had to press both L1 and triangle for every parry. I didn't know you can keep holding L1 and tap triangle.
Being having fun with fists on a new character. The ability to chain every skills in between stances is sooooooo good.

i ended up just spamming flurry kicks (Hold Triangle) it works for every enemy lol i was having so much issues with Odachi, then i switched to fist and kicks and the game become super casual. thanks to the guide, it pointed me in the right direction
Never liked a fist moveset more in a game
I just use the Dempsey roll on every single enemy till im out of ki it surprisingly works almost every time
I say it in coach's voice every time I use it. Helps the dps

Not particularly. I've played Super Smash Bros and am okay with Ike but that's really it.
So with claws doing more damage but less ki damage than fists, do you have a preference or do you tend to switch beforehand, based on mission knowledge?
Hi I was hoping if you could give me a lesson for my build.
Weapons: Purity fists/corruption claws
Sevondary: Sword
GS: Sohaya with Tate eboshi, hellish hag magatsu warrior (purity fists) or Baku with tatarimokke, itsumade and konaki jiji for corruption claws.
Any brute secondary guardian spirit with soul cores that you find best will do.
I am also interested in your opinion of whether fists work better or claws overall. If you could showcase it in the mission calamity's pulse that would be much appreciated... thank you.
Love fists and wanted to know what I can do it with it. Excited to continue with what I learned, but also this just made me want to replay ninja gaiden again

I feel stupid, I didn't even realised that you could flux or flux 2 after Rising Gale, that alone will change my ki management drastically...
Are there certain skills and attacks that do not generate stacks? For example i cannot generate a stack of reckless charge and a strong attack, but can do reckless charge and quick attack. I found similar issues with other skills despite trying every permutation of timing!
How did you max the skill tree
Do you ever cover the shadow step dodge from an attack into an attack weapons have? I ask because fists, I discovered tonight, have unique attacks after those dodges.

@PooferLlama hmm.
All weapons have a quick dodge they can use to animation cancel normal attacks. Blue after image, sound effect.
All the other weapons I've tested have what feels like an un-skippable cool down moment before they can attack again, and when they do, it's the normal attack that button would always cause.
The fists, however, are different. The attack after a dodge at medium stance is a thrusting punch, from low its a brief baseball slide, and from high is a jumping roll knee drop.
Edit, just discovered the Odachi attack after dodge in high stance is a unique somersault.
I'm just wondering what these are. If they have names or any special properties as I've never seen them mentioned.
@@michaelwestmoreland2530 I just call them Dodge counter attacks. Those blue after images are when you also have I frames I think 🤔

I'm maining fists because it was the most fun I found testing all weapons at the start... but seeing this I'm scared as FUCK! UHEUHHUH I'll never be able to pull any of those things off.... I'm used to dark souls that's so simple, all those active skills combo with 3 different stances is making a knot in my brain!
It’s easier done than said, and yes I deliberately wrote it that way. You get used to Fists fairly quickly and it’s not too hard to get this down, however mastering it is a whole different matter entirely. The skill ceiling for Fists is by far the highest.
If you played odachi in nioh 1 the fists are a no brainer progression towards I didn’t understand stance switching properly until I beat the game with odachi since the basic moves change your stances. Now you switch to fists and stance switching got turned up to 1000. My mind is freaking blown by how awesome to move sets are and no single person uses fists the same way.

Im literally trying everything to find the weapon (fists) but it dont matter how many enemys i fight or how many dead players it wont drop WHY
You might be missing the DLCs. The DLCs added 2 weapons: Splitstaff & Fists.
A stupid question. How exactly do you get stacks? You don't have to connect different skills like for versatility, you showed that. But I never have more than 2 stacks. Besides the obvious that I'm dum 😅 is it possible to keep hitting an enemy with combo enders, without pre-shifting, and still have zero stack? Do I have to hit crazy fast?
For Unbroken stacks, you gotta connect basic attacks or skills with _different_ active skills.

@@joshualing5667 Yeah, I preshift my stances very frequently so I can chain a bunch of different active skills.

@@joshualing5667 That's the beauty of Unbroken. You can chain skills WITHOUT needing to ki pulse.
How to get fist?
Kind of new to the game, noob question! what's a good stat distribution other then strength during my first playthrough, obviously.
Any stat distribution is fine. Your damage output is dictated by your gear.
Your core stats should emphasize utility over anything else. Want to get to A agility? Get more Stamina. Want more Ki? Get Heart/Courage? and so on.
I leveled up my stats evenly for memes and it worked out just fine.
You can backflip and do breakdancing spinning kicks yet you can't "jump" biggest gripe I love the wo long jumping

I think he answered this in a nioh 1 video some years ago. Something along the lines of him finding all the weapons fun and switching between them to keep things interesting. Stats dont really matter i guess when u pretty much mastered the game.

I don't understand what is actually triggering buff stacks, simply using skills on enemies doesn't do that, I am confused...
No enemies are dropping fist/claws and I can’t find them in chest. Do they come with a certain dlc? If so which one?

You can probably get the season pass for like 10 bucks now on a sale and it'll give you all the DLC

Can you make fists work without Unbroken stacks? I run heavy armor, so ki Is at a premium. Also, I love most of fists moves, but building stacks really feels blegh.
I don't pay too much attention to the stacks. It's nice to get the damage boost but for me it's largely unnecessary

How to unlock Fist Ability Tree?
Get the 2nd DLC to unlock Fists. I'd personally recommend getting all the DLC.

Made it through ng+ without ever realizing stacks were a thing, so it can’t be too important.
im not a huge fan of this weapon, so basically in order to use it properly you need about a thousand more ki and basically all of the active skills, but you have to use it to generate skillpoints, its almost like an investment, use a bad weapon now to make it better lategame, what kinda design is that? in nioh1 you would just get the skillpoints from level ups, no need to use a weapon without skills that doesnt work without skills.

I agree. Farming weapon proficiency is just an absolute pain in the ass. Unfortunately the only way to speed it up is by using powerful attacks 😢
