Your content has given me a whole new appreciation for this game, thank you so much for these guides! Really cool to see someone extract every bit of potential from each weapon - I knew there was a lot of depth to the combat in this game but I didn't realize I had only scratched the surface until finding your channel
thing about tonfa i love the most when compared to fist is how redable its attacks are lol. Fists are great to play but sometimes the animations all just blend together under the particle effects. Coming back after a break from nioh, I hadnt thought of canceling demon dash with flux, thats awesome o/ learning something new everyday watching these
Trying these babies out on a second playthrough, along with actually using stances as intended haha, was some of the most fun I've had in a long time. Like the second I unlocked the primary followup to a demon dash, forgot the name, this weapon's identity as a hyperoffensive Ki damage dealer became clear. And hoo boy, I doubt I'm going back now haha
Finally gave tonfas a try after finding out i like the splitstaff after this build im goin for tonfas an fist just to obliterate ki plus he moves lowkey look nice when put together fluidly
Fighting Cowboy has good guides on Nioh, but you actually teach players how to play the game. I had it all wrong with tonfas. Thanks for great advise and content! Subscribed!
I platinumed Nioh 2 a year ago and gifted it to a friend. Now i bought the remaster and started from scratch with fists. Due to this I found your channel and have to say your videos have awesome quality and I wish you more subscribers. I am looking forward to your Fists Guide (i think I need it ;) )
My first play through of Nioh 2, I stayed FAR away from Tonfas. I had this false sense that they weren’t very effective weapons, and were mostly for flashy moves. Wow, how wrong I was. After doing a little research and trying my hand at a Tonfa build, my next play through was exclusively Tonfas and bare hands. My god. DISGUSTING. Some of the most fun I’ve had in a souls-like tbh. The KI destruction is just too satisfying.
Got back into nioh 2 to complete the dlcs. Last time I played I was getting wrecked. I've learned so much from you vids man and I'm whooping ass! Thanks for taking the time to make these vids
As a tonfa main since the beginning, I appreciate this video. I have gotten really good at dodging dangerous attacks with the Ki Pulse/Demon Dance, and I get beat on when I use any other weapon since I've grown used to it. :) I do dabble in splitstaff, fists, hatchets, and odachi though. Mainly a support onmyo mage with ninjutsu for added effects (mostly paralysis, stealth, and cures). EDIT: I apply paralysis to Heavenly Chain in case I fight anyone that has high Break resistance.
I personally run tonfas with active skill ki damage/active skill break/break rolls and deplete the enemy's ki bar, then flash attack into a high-stance splitstaff dragon dance and watch their hp bar get eviscerated.
The mobility with this weapon paired with EC is ridiculous you have full control of movement it’s so nice I’m digging tonfas more and more especially after they added demon dash.
I actually prefer the tonfa over fists as well. It could just be that they are easier to manage for me though. Either way, these guides are so helpful dude. Thank you!
@@Rahnonymous yea that's exactly why I don't use them too much. But I've seen players use them without almost ever depleting their ki. I guess I just suck 🤷
Damn, Tonfa looks insane. Also was looking at how you were trying to prove the piercing capabilities of a skill and the enemy refused to block. Should a Nioh 3 ever be made one thing that'd be neat is if in the Dojo you could modify the behavior of enemies. Like always be blocking, stuff like that.
Just this video alone , after finishing Wo Long shows how fun and complex the combat in Nioh 2 is compared to Wo Long. I got back into Nioh 2 after being kinda dissapointed by Wo Long, and even with 1200 + hours game time since launch, this game still surprises me.
Yokai be like: Ha, it dead. *tonfa strikes from Kannagi* Yokai: Noo, it not dead. Make it ded, make it ded. Ha, now it dead. *tonfa strikes from Kannagi* Yokai: Not fair, not dead. Make squishy ded. Ded!! Got you, squishy, you ded. Ha! *tonfa strikes from Kannagi* Yokai: Fuck this, ima just drop and die now.
I noticed in your inputs that you didn't hold block when you tried to chain Kannagi's Demon Dance dodges. I personally find that holding block while cancelling Wild Lions repeatedly allows for more consistency. So while my left hand would hold L1, my right hand would do a "piano" motion from square then R1 to activate each dodge.
I feel like an idiot or I'm doing something wrong, but I can't do the Kannagi cancels with quick attacks like you're doing at 9:00. I've always had to do Wild Lions cancels or something.
Just practice against Ren 🤣 In all seriousness, I usually start with Wild Lions and then cancel that with Kannagi. Whenever you cancel with Kannagi, you have the option to perform the active skill Pulverize. The input for that after a Demon Dance is a quick attack. Because it's a skill, I can cancel that as well. Hence, the whole cancel -> quick -> cancel
I just started this game and picked these weapons and I'm trying to learn the cancel but I'm not sure what bunt inputs you use to cancel. Is it the dash button or another button that procs the cancel?
@@PooferLlama I want to learn how to do those animation cancels so I can do that. Mystic art thing you were doing but I was having a hard time following how to do it.
Also, can anyone please tell me why someone would put Thousand Tongues on L1+Triangle in mid-stance instead of Tiger Bite? Thousand Tongues seems to be the least useful of all the Tonfa moves.
While not exactly what I had hoped for, the Tonfa now compared to the pre-DLC N2 days is out of this world... '-' If I wasn't so busy trying to re-learn the game in general (and practicing Hatchets) I'd totally get back into the Demon Dancin' scene. Speaking of which, I'm particularly looking forward to Hatchet day. (should be the next one, right?)

Tonfa are probably my most used weapon in the game. The solid flow, the pressure, and the mobility are all well to my liking.
Very good! I like tonfas a lot and i will practice more:)
I recently started using tonfas and I'm in love!! Like so good! I especially love fleet foot!
Dragon Ninja's most iconic battle cry is sadly missing. The "TWOAAHHGH!" he used to do during Flying Swallow and Izuna Drop in NG2.

The unintentional hilarity of trying to get the human to block...
Not gon lie you made me wanna pick up this game again and start from scratch 😂. Previous play through I was a Magic main so this will be fun 🤟🏾
Everyone recommends the fists but I find the Tonfas to just flow much more smoothly
Excellent video.
Thx a lot 👍🏻
Bud this is great content
What Tonfas are you using? Is that dual elements, fire & lightning? Great video as always! Best series when learning & mastering new weapons! 👍
It's just refashioned to look like Searing Bolt Tonfa. I mostly play with Corrupted Weapons.
@@PooferLlama Thanks! 🙂
Very nice to see, but after hours practicing this and switchblade, I just can’t do it haha
This is a old video but if you want a heavy human enemy to block just throw 2 kunai or shuriken at them... They always block after 2
Wild lions is so fun to use

Im using single katana with double katanas as weapons i might Change the single katana for this
How did you get fire and light tonfa

Searing Bolt, available in DLC 3 i think?
How did you use ipon 2x in a row, nice Tonfa guide !
In the dojo, you basically have infinite anima. Also, Ippon can be a lot faster than the animation suggests.
What’s your gamer tag do you play on ps4
What button does he have his Dodge map too cuz I'm trying to find the easiest button mapping for tonfas.
I have X to dodge/sprint

Tonfa x Dual Katana btw (͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)
Combo as old as time that one. Can't even think of a more famous combination as far as Nioh history goes...

not copyright. I double check them to see if theyre okay for release.
