I’ve never seen your wife as I’m new here. Relatively. I enjoy seeing a happy couple who enjoy reading and coffee together. Hobby’s I enjoy as an older single man. Living through others happiness is where I’m at ha! Thanks for your relaxing videos.

Everyone always says that Stephen King is the quintessential horror author and although he’s good at it, his books always feel much more like intricate character studies rather than something just to scare you. Salem’s lot is probably King’s pulpiest/scariest book and I also wanted more lol
Try Jerusalem's Lot short story by Stephen King. It's an awesome lore expansion prequel that felt to me more scary than the book, but still cozy as hell
@@itrololo194 YES! I agree. That is something I didn't mention in my review. I started with the short story and I expected that same scary almost demonic tone in the actual book.
I’ve got 2 books on the shelf from Mr. King. The Stand and On Writing (yes, this is not fiction). I hear they’re both very good, but haven’t read any of his books yet. 2025 reading list is building! ❤️ 📚
Thomas, I know you've spoken a bit about Name of The Wind in a few episodes, but can we get a dedicated episode for it? I'm seeing so many mixed opinions on it right now, but yours I trust
I would love that! I would like to wait until I do a reread since it's been over 4 years since I first read it however I might just do an episode before I ever get to a reread since I absolutely love that book!
The scary parts are scary but there needs to be more of it, I feel that looking back. For me it made it up with the characters and the I loved the story itself a lot but I do agree it isn't the scariest of his books. I think you'll like IT a lot when you get to it, a lot scarier and he really takes the time to build the characters and helps us get to know them.
I'm not a coffee person, but a tea person. I still need to find a good tea shop in the city I'm living in now. I'm currently reading The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro and about halfway through. I'm enjoying it so far, it is also the one I understand the best I think. Though, that could be because I got used to reading his work.
I also love slow burner stories so King is a good shot most of the times. Salems lot was a cool newer version of Dracula. Would give it 4 Shiny crosses and one wooden stake.
Drinking coffee right now, not the drip type, the kuerig kind. Tried black coffee when times were tough and even rid the french press way too. Roasting fresh beans is so amazing and I loved the smell and taste of brewing new fresh coffee as well. Fun fact: Coffee and Chocolate houses were banned in England (and maybe America) because they were places where Revolutionary planning started.
I am a cortado person, it’s essentially just equal parts of espresso and warmed/slightly steamed milk. Loved the video! Currently on the fourth book of A.C.O.T.A.R. and … it’s alright (?). Certainly not my favorite of the series so far. I absolutely loved the third book, the fourth one feels like a whole lot of filler
how fine do you grind your coffee for the chemex? Also, I have an electric grinder and was recently told those can burn the grounds? Idk about that... it doesnt get very hot. I only grind for ~15 seconds.
oh man I need to look at my grinder to see the setting. I know if its too fine then it'll brew faster which isn't good because the water will just pass right through the grounds.I know you want a more medium coarse grind.
Been a spell since I've read Salem's Lot, but I remember enjoying it. I was a teenager at the time, so maybe my take on it would have changed, but I recall liking King's depiction of vampires.
Salem's Lot was not my favorite King book, but it was still very impressive to me. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and world building, two of his great strengths as an author. I don't think his character writing was quite as finished as it gets later on in his career, but there were still some stand-outs (Matt Burke, Jim Cody, Mark Petrie). Since you're hitting all of King's greatest hits, I'd highly recommend The Shining next or soon! Even though it's only his third book, I truly think it's one of his best. It's where he really hits his stride as an author, specifically in character building. Throughout the whole novel (and it's not short) you only follow 3 or 4 characters, and you get to know them very well. Thank you for the video! Wonderful way to start my day!
I agree! Love his character work and world building. yes yes I really want to read the shining but I am knee deep into book 12 of WoT. For some reason I feel like these last three wheel of time books are going to fit well with the holiday season. idk why. But I just feel it haha
