06's handling is really wonky but if you go to the minimum tire PSI and loosen the car up a bit it runs well. Really the biggest issue with this game is the career mode is broken once you get to cup, you'll get double points for every event
this was my favorite EA game for shenanigans alongside NASCAR 07. I would go backwards with one car at Speedway Blvd and try to block the track under the stands where it was narrow and pile in from last with a teammate. Was always a sight to behold.
Been here on this channel for over a year, and just as I thought when I started watching, there is no better voice and personality for commentating games
Agreed! Mark's got a smooth voice! He should do live commentary for real. (P.S., Mark, nice choice doing New Hampshire for the Modifieds; I actually saw the New Hampshire 100 a few times.)
One of my friends had this one when I was a kid and the way the intro was presented where you wreck out and switch to a teammate to finish the race blew my mind for some reason.
Good to see you back man. I used to do this all the time. MB2 Motorsports. Joe Nemechek, Scott Riggs, Boris Said and My custom won every race in the Cup Series in Fight to The Top
Another thing about this game and playing the PS2 version, going forward (06 to 09) it uses the PS3’s control scheme so that’s always an instant change whenever you play it for the first time.
I love this channel, the editing, the humour, the top notch video ideas executed perfectly! I don’t even give a shit about NASCAR much, but I’ve rewatched every video on this channel like 3 times
This is the first of the EA NASCAR games to be released in PAL, which meant I could play it in the UK. I played... honestly more of this game than I think it's possible to play over the years. The car swap mechanic was... rediculous but made replayability of this game just endless, along with the Dodge challenges and the career mode. My good friend "Wallmart Money" would have illustuous careers in NASCAR either swooping in out of nowhere to buy a weird team in every sport, or just sit around in Whelen Modifieds grounding out championships. A couple things I noticed with the game over the years; 1) The team orders have a glitch where they get... sticky? So if you set a teammate to "follow" you, what can happen is, if you switch cars, either the car you were driving, the car you ordered to follow, or sometimes *both* will decide they need to drop back and follow your player car. This is bad when they're infront of you, but WORSE when they're behind you, 'cause then they'll go-slow the ENTIRE LAP until they get behind you. Or, they'll just... keep going slowly! There's no way to know when the follow un-toggles, I thought it was pitstops but it looked like Jeff Gordon kept trying to follow-loop you even after a caution and pit cycle, so I'm not sure? 2) There's another glitch that seems to only exist in PAL where Bobby Labonte's Busch car will *only* load in with the secondary paint scheme. I have never seen his Banquet 19 car in a race until this very video. 3) If you take a custom car into either the Season or Chase for the Cup modes, you will have rookie stripes on the back bumper of your car, but not if you just drive that custom car in a free race in the main mode. I'm not sure if those go away if you run a second season.
@TheChildress293133 I'll have to boot it up again and check, I seem to recall it always appearing, but always in the secondary Hunts scheme, never in the primary Banquet one.
truly one of the race manipulation racing games of all time (also please do a video on the NASCAR Thunder 2004 Lightning Challenges, I'm sure you'll make that entertaining too)
This was my baby as a kid and now over almost 2 decades later I’m back on it trying to win with that truck. It’s hard cuz they won’t throw cautions if you are on your side
I’ve loved this game for nearly 20 years now. The absolute embedded chaos mixed with just a bit of realism makes it playable for hours even today. Hyped to finally see you do a video on it. 10:25 Chase Montgomery is randomly the best driver in the truck series in the game. I don’t know why they programmed him to be so good. Same with Brandon Miller in the Busch Series.
Oh, this one I have a soft spot for. Sure, not the best but I loved dicking around in this with the game breaking swap mechanic. Just wrecking the field and swapping to any car almost feels illegal!
Also mark will you do nascar on psp because that was the only nascar game to ever release on the psp and based off the console version of nascar 07 before nascar heat ultimate plus on the switch and rivals?
still watching the video, i expect funny and i will receive funny. also how do i frickin add widescreen and all of that to the games i only either get 4:3 or streched to 16:9 aspect ratio 4:3
In the PS2 system config, you can go to settings and set the display to 16:9. On hardware that automatically does the job, but in PCSX2 you need to then set the emulator to display in 16:9 as well and you should be set.
I've been playing this as a series on Twitch and been uploading them to my channel and this game is a lot of fun but man there's a good amount of bugs in it. I use the Xemu Emulator to play mine because the my actual PS2 copy will not let me drive the #9 Pennzoil Ford or the #57 Ore-Ida Chevrolet in the Busch Series, the game will allow me to sign the contract but then loading the first race which is Daytona, the game would freeze every time or lock up. Plus don't get me start on Chase Montgomery being broken in the trucks, he takes over like 4 trucks so he wins the title by more than 2,000 points.

Based on the editing of UPS into everything and making a supercut of the announcer's breaths, you could probably do a solid YTP of race announcements.
0:39 Mark Martin’s son Matt Martin drives the 66 Gatorade car in the game
Nice catch, somehow totally forgot about that.

My very first nascar game. Had it on the original Xbox. Sooooo many hours spent on it.
Edit: 0:44 RAHHHHH NEW HAMPSHIRE MY HOME TRACK

That UPS truck passing Jeff Gordon at the start broke me laughing for no reason! Must've been the pan shot lol.
The UPS truck is the funniest thing they put in this game
One of my friends had this one when I was a kid and the way the intro was presented where you wreck out and switch to a teammate to finish the race blew my mind for some reason.

UPS is gonna be stuck in my nightmares but im ok with this
Another thing about this game and playing the PS2 version, going forward (06 to 09) it uses the PS3’s control scheme so that’s always an instant change whenever you play it for the first time.
Love the audio on bill weber's intros
I grew up on this game, so good
I used the road course shortcut at New Hampshire in Thunder 03 all the time 🤣. You're the first I've seen to use that method.
I love this channel, the editing, the humour, the top notch video ideas executed perfectly! I don’t even give a shit about NASCAR much, but I’ve rewatched every video on this channel like 3 times
This game really needs a better sense of speed. Going 200MPH feels like 60. Other than that, I like this game a lot!

I don't recall my copy ever running Bobby labonte's Busch car. Always saw it in Race Now to drive but always missing in career.
@TheChildress293133 I'll have to boot it up again and check, I seem to recall it always appearing, but always in the secondary Hunts scheme, never in the primary Banquet one.
I can't speak for the PAL version, but I know the NA version has those rookie stripes removed when you enter your second season. It's a neat detail.

part of me wishes this game came out on the gamecube
What happens to UPS trucks when they’re old? How are there not UPS truck figure 8 races like school bus figure 8 races?
People buy them and convert them into RVs and campers
I’ve loved this game for nearly 20 years now. The absolute embedded chaos mixed with just a bit of realism makes it playable for hours even today. Hyped to finally see you do a video on it.

The Xfinity and Truck return to Rockingham should've just been Mr. Clean Speedway
Glad to see you upload as always! You never miss, honestly, i watch everything atleast twice. -Faye⚓
When I got this game I had a field day recreating that one commercial basically he just runs into Mark Martin with the Big Brown truck
Oh, this one I have a soft spot for. Sure, not the best but I loved dicking around in this with the game breaking swap mechanic. Just wrecking the field and swapping to any car almost feels illegal!
What?? Hawaii is a retexture of Rockingham?
Matt Martin was also a licensed Whelen modified driver, I think he was either in this game or 07
Did you check out the restauration mod that someone made for this game? It adds all the removed content back to the game
Damnit. I want that UPS truck in Nascar Heat 5 🤣🤣 I loved that.
Never stop uploading
FINALLLLLY i asked for this 2 years ago
Also mark will you do nascar on psp because that was the only nascar game to ever release on the psp and based off the console version of nascar 07 before nascar heat ultimate plus on the switch and rivals?
MARTINSVILLE FALL RACE TYPA

Tbh man I think you’re just cursed with Hendrick cars even though they are the best to work with at super speedways
I loved 06, simply for the race manipulation aspect.
why was their a UPS Truck in this game
0:01 is that the fucking UPS delivery truck?
I do like Nascar 06, but not the handling as its all over the place
I wish we have team swapping mechanics now in th4 new games it be fun and gives a new strategy to the game
I've been playing this as a series on Twitch and been uploading them to my channel and this game is a lot of fun but man there's a good amount of bugs in it.

i love your videos so much lol
Question, how did you get your version of N06 so upscaled and in 16:9?
I use PCSX2 to upscale it. Also, in the PS2 system config you can go to settings and set display to 16:9.
13:08. just 13:08.
amazing video lol
Peak brain rot content
It would be really funny if you went on easy and used The Truck™️ as a battering ram to get through the field
Yooooo
