- NASCAR Thunder 2004 from EA Sports is without a doubt one of the greatest NASCAR games ever made. I could even make a case for it being one of the best racing games ever made. This game released for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and the PC. Because I owned a Nintendo GameCube growing up, my first ever experience with the game was in 2017 when I finally went and bought a used copy for the PS2. Needless to say, my praise of this game is not distorted by nostalgia. I have never actually gone and done a full playthrough of the career mode in this game, and I fully intend on documenting my experience in an upcoming mini-series. However, that's not what we're here for today. Because this game rightfully punishes a player for driving terribly, today's video will be spent on getting out all the frustrations I have towards the AI cars before I begin career mode. Not to mention that I have the opportunity to highlight all the cool novelty features this game has, including numerous fantasy tracks, the option to drive the pace car, and this game also features what is possibly the hardest lightning challenge ever. All of which will be covered in today's video.

The Sawmill front straightaway slowdown glitch was useful. I remember using it to my advantage many times
I love the fantasy tracks having equally fantasy rules for mystery conspiracy cautions. Why yellow? Iunno, cautions out. Always loved this game. 🎉

haha i played this game when i was a kid. i just bought my ps2 and rebought all my old games im excited for nascar to come in today. there is a song from it i remember but havent been able to find

I am both impressed with this games graphics gameplay and voiceover, while also shaking my head at a few things that havent aged so elegantly (notably some choppy voiceover transitions)

You can race the PACE CAR IN THIS GAME?!?! I was a nascar thunder 03 kid, never got to have a copy of this game as I grew up with the GameCube in my early youth, I never knew anything about being able to do that in this game!!! That is fricken sweeeet

Best nascar game of all time.
Half the time with these games, it’s just me either racing seriously or just trashing the car and wrecking the field.
Just last year when playing this, I wanted to see if the spoiler could fly off of the car if you trash it enough and I managed to do it.
Didn't know it was possible in Thunder 04 to do that, I know 06 and 07 it's possible but I guess time to get the PS2 out and test it

I've been using Dolphin emulator for the GameCube games, and PCSX2 for the PS2 games.

I picked up my copy at a local place called Steve's Sports Cards.
Do what you feel like you want to do, because forcing yourself to conform to us isn't going to be fun for you, and that's not what I want to see.

I use version 1.6.0, seems to work a lot better for this game.
