    That lap time is incredible. I've driven that track in an F3000 car and I can tell you that 1:18 is an unbelievable time. The average speed is over 135kph and the last 2 corners are taken at around 150kph.

      @Porsche1969 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Blah blah blah...
      This annoying "long gearing in the GT4 manual" discussion just sucks.
      What do you expect from a Porsche 718 GT4 with its naturally aspirated engine+manual transmission combination: driving it on "b-roads" at just 60 mph in fourth gear at 5000 rpm?
      The GT4 manual and PDK are just perfectly made for race tracks. Therefore the "gearing" is just perfect.
      All these clowns who are still complaining about the "too long gearing" are so fucking booooooooring.

    I am not terribly confident that Steve Sutcliffe looks at these comments, but if he does (you do), I am a tremendous fan but I recommend you take a look at your EVO colleague’s Carfection posting of 6/6/2018 about manuals and the then current GT3 (as well as some of your own videos in which you vacillate between the PDK and a manual for Porsches). For you, on a track, as someone who can handle oversteer and understeer so beautifully, the PDK makes a great deal of sense. For lesser mortals (not including Mr. Catchpole), who spend very little time on a track and try to find challenging roads on which to drive the 718 GT4, managing the manual - especially this manual - is a beautiful part of driving the car. It might seem that it would be nice for a far lesser driver to take shifting out of the picture but in fact trying to do a decent job of shifting with this lovely gearbox while also attempting to take a proper line on curves, hit the proper brake point, and steer with the GT4’s magnificent precision on that score as well, is a significantly better experience. I will admit to being a “purist,” but if you’re as far short of your level of driving ability as I am, paradoxically, for me at least, it’s more fun to handle more challenges and work on more driving skills than it is to have the undeniably superb PDK thwart my efforts to improve my driving across the board. I actually think you agree, but it didn’t come across that way in this otherwise astonishingly good video (see my comment immediately below). Sorry re the length, for you and anyone else who might read this comment.

    If you love the speed. PDK is great. Even more so is auto steer and brake where the computer does all the steering and braking for you. Thats way faster yet. Then of course to make the car even faster you send the car out without the driver so that weight is gone and with that mode you order the car without ac or a blower motor or heater or seats or mirrors. Then you have the best car you can enjoy
