  • We review the Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic 114 V-Twin cruiser/Touring motorbike.
    This torque monster has stunning looks, in black and chrome, and is the quintessential American cruiser, with show stopping vintage details and pure rock & roll style. Is this THE BEST of all the Harley's?
    We look at the engine, gears, brakes, seating, comfort, styling ergonomics, rake and trail, wheelbase and more. How does it handle? We find out!
    We also show the bike with the screen off and with the panniers (saddle bags) and pillion seat removed. What do you think of it like that!
    We've git the BMW R 18 Classic 1800 coming soon so we want to get this review out there for comparison. We will also do a direct side-by-side video too! Don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss out!
    We recommend Goldtop Leather Jackets and Leather Motorcycle Gear - www.goldtop.co.uk In this video the Ol' Man is wearing the 619 Rebel Leather Jacket and the Goldtop Cafe racer Gloves.
    and Premier Helmets - www.premier.it... Model Worn in this video is the Premier Trophy DO.
    During the filming of this video our external mic jack port stopped working on the Sony A7iii for no apparent reason, so we have filmed the audio and talking on a Canon EOS 750D.

    Guys, yr videos have really moved to the next level. You use yr surrounding quaint area for tests and back drops, mixing close ups and overall high definition quality, a pleasure to watch.
    I'm no cruiser guy, though enjoyed it, especially how u managed to balance the exhaust note even from a distance.

    I want to like HD, but they make it awfully hard. Overpriced stock motorcycles with horrible power and terrible handling. I’ve been wanting to add a cruiser, but I’m not paying $20k for a HD. The Rocket 3 GT? Now there’s a bike I’ll buy to add next to my 1250GS.

    Just bought this bike….mines a 2020. I’m coming from a 2009 Road King and the differences are numerous. This Heritage is so much more powerful and handles so much better I can hardly believe it because I thought my Road King was the tits. Also, it’s so sexy I find myself out in the garage late at night and early in the morning just looking her over.

    Have you looked into the cost of a twin disc brake front end with ABS. For me that's a very easy bike to live with that's very customisable so you don't have to get a new bike. I'd get rid of the pillion pad and replace it with a large top box with back support. The other Harley I like a lot is the Sport Glide with mids for a 5'8 rider. Now for the BMW Classic.

    I had a 2007 Road King Classic, which I did not particularly like and I sold it. Last year I bought a 1995 Softail Heritage Classic instead, which I absolutely love. These carburated EVO engines run beautifully. Especially at idle they sound even better than the fuel injected ones (with aftermarket pipes of course). I like to ride it without windscreen. It has a beach bar, which looks great and works perfectly for me. What surprised me the most is how nimble the bike is despite the high weight. It reacts extremely well on counter steer. Another thing that surprised me was that it is much more fuel efficient than the fuel injected Road King: close to 56 miles per imperial gallon instead of 42. I really appreciate your reviews, especially as I am also 6ft3”, while most reviewers are ‘vertically challenged’...

    The bad thing for the 2021 models is that the ecu is uppdated so no one can tune the bikes and the aftermarket tuners have to be uppdated with a new wersion. I hope it will get sorted before I get my new breakout becouse i have a new exhaust that is more or less useless at the moment. And then their are the warranty thing to worry about also when you tune it. You are dependant on your dealer to help you if anything happens with the motor becouse the warranty will go bye bye after a tune and a full exhaust.

    These are excellent bikes, but the new ones did lose of the key styling elements that make it a heritage. The swingarm shape lost it's obtuse angle and the iconic horseshoe oil tank is gone to make room for the rear shock. They do perform well too, but I'd pick the Road King instead.

    Owning a 2018 115th Anniversary Heritage is like owning 2 Bikes. Taking the screen, bags & backseat off changes it personality from tourer to bad ass. Good review on the new one. Surprised to hear the hp & torque have been decreased.

    In Germany you can’t just go ahead and change the fuel mapping to make the engine more powerful. You would forfeit your insurance protection in case of an accident and have to pay any liabilities out of your own pocket. Not worth the extra torque.

    hi , after watching speed twin vid and commenting , [thanks for your reply ] am staying with harley ,,, and sykes hd , my virtual friend [due to lock down] at sykes nearly had a fit when i mentioned the t word,,, fine bikes from both makes and would like them all./// but the hd heritage fits you and me and the young darcy ,,, so you really can;t improve on what you have , this refresher update video confirms this ,,,, you can just add bikes to your stable ,,, [ps .. i am 6 ft 2 so i can relate to needs like you about sizing ,, hd does seem to cover this better than most bike makers.

    You are correct, that Harley looks really nice and so much better without the bags and screen.
    It looks easy to ride but do not think I would like the forward foot controls.

    I test rode one of these last summer in Sundance Wyoming. I agree that it is a very easy bike to ride and handling is much improved over the previous Heritage model which I took on an extended rental a few years ago.. The windscreen works well, for me, and I like the easy open and stylish bags. My '03 Road King is a handful compared to this much lighter and maneuverable motorcycle. I'm a bit old school so I prefer a real ignition switch and throttle cables. Nice review, fellas.

      We are definitely going to be thinking hard with the comparison. It's hard to believe, but the BMW has more character than the Harley!

    • @stevereilly
      @stevereilly 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrDarcy-OlMan I'm torn between the two, the HHS is very flickable, R18 has higher quality but slightly less torque, BHP (3 or so) and is 15kg heavier with a longer wheelbase. I loved the Harley when I test rode it, BMW are very good though having owned several GS's at service and quality. A very tough decision. The 16" wheel on the classic BMW is the unknown, I guess less flickable.

    • @MrDarcy-OlMan
      @MrDarcy-OlMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stevereilly Yes I think the first R 18 with the 19" wheel may be just a bit more flickable, but we'll see (when the snow melts!) The Heritage Classic Harley has 16" wheels too so should be about the same in that respect. The quality, finish and attention to detail on the BMW surpasses the Harley - that I can see already.
