Wow, the fact that you saw an elk in MO is pretty special. They were reintroduced into the state not too many years ago and I think they currently only give out like six elk permits for hunting every year right now.
Love my river. Live about 1/4 mile from the Current, don't even get off the gravel road to launch.😂 The water stays about 64 degrees in winter and might get 74 in summer around Doniphan Mo area. I agree, read the water, read the river. Glad you come up and hopefully had a good time.
Hi been watching and enjoying your videos lately and looking into getting a new duck boat. Do you have any experience with jet tunnels? And also how do you feel about a flat bottom compared to a modified v. I hunt a lot of mud and sandy marsh and a lot of times there’s a grassy bottom.
Budget and aluminum boats used to go hand in hand. These days it is tough. If you can find one Xpress made a 1450. You would have to raise transom but a 30 jet yamaha or 25 merc jet would do well.
I know ...but those other campers held people...maybe several people per camper.....They don't park their campers there and leave the county...The area gets crowded...I've been several times...Eleven Point River is less crowded...but probably not good for your boat@@DennisBohannan
Yes I know just saying I went during the week and it wasn't very busy. Only saw one camper with people there. Maybe 10 floaters on the river. I have heard how it gets on weekends. Was going to go to eleven point but too much water there as well 500 to 600 cfs. Why I only stayed few hours on current river. The Black river was a blast at under 250 cfs and even better running up the West fork. Ran from clear water lake almost to Centerville.
Definitely keep your boat out of the springs. It is illegal and don't want to taint something pretty anyways. Just floated 30 miles on the same stretch you were on and got off at two rivers. The current river is amazing.
"Don't look for deep water, look for enough water". You have no idea how much you taught me with that simple statement!

Grew up in vb. Up above two rivers would have been a little more fun runnin. Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it, you’ve converted me from mud motor to jet. Need to just sell the mud motor now

Thats good advice. There is always standing deadwood or rocks in those darker pools.
Thinking of throwing a jet foot on my weldbuilt 1656 with merc 90 4 stroke. Weldbilts a good hull for jets? Also has pods. That gonna be an issue?
Damn that was a nice bull lol
You can't go on these rivers without smallmouth fishing. State law
Haha. I did catch a few perch.
@@DennisBohannan current is good for smallmouth but can also get trout and walleye as well
Come back to Missouri and run Big River!
Can you recommend a good budget 14’ hull? Thanks!

Where did you put in at?
Log yard.
What boat and setup do you have there?
1652 with 40 jet
We got property just below big spring right on the river. Been waiting to see an elk
That is where I saw him.
Big rocks do the damage.
Haha I see my camper- btw did you bounce around booming shoal above blue springs 😂
I went a few miles past the Jacks Fork.
Good ole Log Yard.
river of death
Dang really.
what size boat is that? what's the approximate cost for a similar one? great video.
1652. The pricing has gotten ridiculous. Be over 20k now days
I've been there its pretty crowded with canoes and kayaks
Why I drove up during the week. Very few folks.
Very few?....I saw all those campers on your video....I've been several times....its crowded...especially further north..@@DennisBohannan
@usernumber09 only one camper had someone at it when I went by. It was on a Wednesday

I have a similar size boat with same motor..what range of rpms your think your boat go on plane? (I know you have tiller so you dont have vessel)
I have vessel view that connects to my phone. Wide open rpm is 5300. Stay on plan about 3900 I think. Takes very little time for me to jump on pad.
@@DennisBohannan oh tnx ! Mine wide open Is about 5200 rpms max not more..Is It normal? The motor is mounted a little too low and I have console

Been going there for over 20 years
Not being from there, I did assume that it would be frowned upon, so I stayed out.
@@DennisBohannan nice boat brother to and I appreciate it highly my family had been enjoying those waters for much longer than I've been alive
This year the current
river is low
Still too much water. I enjoyed the Black river much more. The sights are amazing though.
