Using the MX Master as well and probably won't replace it until it breaks. Had a G7 with Carbon look before that which sadly broke down after many years off use. If it wouldn't have broken, I'd probably still be using that one.

Still rocking the MX Performance after almost 10 years now. Used it for travel, designing in Adobe suite, gaming, took it to work, on the couch, everywhere. I'd instantly buy a new one if only I could get it for about €60. After ten years the only damage (besides serious signs of usage) is the middle mouse button/scroll wheel button no longer works.

I love my old Performance Mouse MX, i still keep it in the drawer somewhere, it really is an amazing mouse. I used it for more than 5 years as a daily driver and would occasionally take it to work. Few months ago, I replaced it with the MX Master (1st gen) in Navy Blue and i love it. I don't use side scroll, though, but the software is so versatile so I might find another use for it except side scroll. And, yes, I agree with the battery percentage in the software, I would love to see Logitech implement that in one of the next updates.

Bought an Performance MX mouse in early 2009. A decade later it saw me through the end of high school, all of college, and 4 years of working 40-60+ hours a week.
I've worn most of the pads off the bottom but it still holds a charge on the original Eneloop battery to the point where I might charge it every other week or so.
Most of the chrome is now shiny or dull black with just a hint of chrome on the top.
Maybe one of these days I'll replace it with a new Performance MX.

  • @AWSimDrifter

An an existing MX Master user, I really don't understand what they're trying to do here with the 2S. The best way to improve an existing product is to take the points that people complain about the most and fix them, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out what those are on the MX Master either. I think the most complained about feature of the original is the placement on the forward and back buttons, which I think every tech TH-camr complained about when reviewing the original. Yet strangely they haven't addressed this. They also haven't thought to implement a USB Type-C connector either. It's literally the same mouse with slightly improved battery life and slightly better sensor sensitivity. There's literally no point in even releasing this mouse. it's like an MX Master 1.5

I have an MX Master which I used for about a year. I built a new PC, and wanted a dedicated mouse and keyboard that was at least as good as my G610 and MX Master 2S for the new PC. I did have some connectivity issues with the new 2S, figured it out, and am quite impressed in how they improved a mouse that I thought needed no improvement. Very nice device.

    • @ThisIsReMarkable
      @ThisIsReMarkable 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@englishwithaltini There wasn't much I didn't like about that mouse. The battery was rechargeable but removable without taking the whole thing apart.
That said, one thing I don't like about Logitech is that they seem to use "middle shelf" switches. They don't seem to last as long as they should. I had to open them mouse up and replace one of the physical switches because the old one wore out. It involved removing and readding solder and not something I'd recommend for the average person.

omg! a fellow Performance MX user!
I just recently retired one still-working Performance MX for a gaming mouse, but it was purely for completion intents.
The darn mouse was great in every aspect and I used to game with it. I think my first unit is around 4+ years old now and the battery still works and hold a very decent charge.
I have a secondary unit with my laptop and I might bring my recommission my old unit to my workplace because it is that good. This one may be around 3+ years old.

I had to change a micro-switch because the left click button was mis-clicking sometimes. I love the ergonomics and the weight. Had the Performance MX myself. While some of the extra buttons are missed, I've figured out over time my hands and wrists find a shorter flat mouse more comfortable. I have this mouse - apart from no usb C and non user replaceable battery (won't stop me with a screwdriver!), its awesome. The hyper scroll took me by surprise (I'm a male, don't read manuals :P). Was on an ebay page and wanted to scroll to the international sellers so gave the wheel a flick. off it went to the bottom of the page. I watched the super fluid wheel spin down like a gyro, and then heard the click of the ratchet servo re-engage. "Cool! my mouse has gears!". Good to see Flow, I can now seemlessly switch between my macbook and my media centre hackintosh without having to have a seperate mouse on each. And my coffee table is glass, this mouse works smooth as silk on that!

i just hope they fixed the scroll wheel issue. Smartshift would make it stuck inbetween modes, making it very annoying to use.
Mine got stuck after 2 hours of usage, maybe it's bad luck on my end or something, but it has remained stuck for the whole time i owned it.
If they didn't fix this issue, i would suggest disabling the smartshift option and using to dedicated button to switch between modes to prevent the wheel from getting stuck.

Have both the Performance MX and the MX Master. The PMX is my daily driver (4 years and going strong) as the ergonomics are better for all day use (for me anyway). The MXM is used when doing really intense work across multiple windows/browsers/spreadsheets - makes it really easy to navigate between them. The MXM is also used when travelling - the Bluetooth connection leaves me with an additional USB port free on the laptop. Both are excellent though, but I don't think I'll be updating to the 2S until one of mine dies. Thanks for a comprehensive review.

The MX Master is the greatest mouse I've held in my hand, bar none. I'm so glad to see they haven't reinvented the wheel, but I do wish they would give us a clicky horizontal scroll. I will upgrade from the Master if and when that comes around.

I own the MX Master and I love it. The battery lasts forever. The only downside is the forward button which is too small even for my small hands. For productive work, I wouldn't change it for ANY other mouse out there.

I bought my MX Master last year and love it so much I bought 2 more for the rest of the family. I do a lot of gaming, but as a casual gamer, I didn't find as much benefit for dedicated gaming mice.

I've been using the MX Master 1 for about a year now with my work computer and it's great. I can't say that the battery life is a full month, but I would believe it. I definitely don't charge it once a month. I don't use flow, the big sellers for me were egro and the thumb wheel since I work with lots of large databases and spreadsheets.

One thing I hate about my MX Master 2S is the fact that the mouse has already gotten glossy after 6 months use. They decided to use ABS plastic instead of PBT which takes a lot longer to shine. Another issue I have on mine is the fact that I can't set any custom macro's on the buttons, you are stuck with using only the small amount of actions they allow you to work with.

I recently had the MX master. I liked the software that comes with it where you can setup loads of custom commands that can rival the gestures I know and love from my Macbook Pro. I also like the look of the mouse as well it fits to my idea of what hardware for a content creator should look like.
I ended up returning the mouse because of quite a lot of lag everytime the computer thinks about a task. This occurred both on my hackintosh as well as on my iMac at school.
I didn't care for the ergonomics of the mouse either. The mouse is too high and therefore gave me wrist fatigue especially scrolling was very awkward. The build quality was alright but not fantastic.

i remember owning the performance mx. i returned it after a few weeks because there was way too much input lag to keep playing cs 1.6 with it. i loved the hyper scrolling though, and im glad that they kept that feature around

my performance mx served me so well the last 8 years. sadly the left mouse button often registers 2 clicks instead of 1. I will have to switch in the near future. Looking forward to either the mx master or master 2s.
    Nice vid!

For people wanting to know if they should buy this mouse and are wondering about games. Competitive FPS games suffer.
Also, the forward and back buttons work great if you place your entire thumb on it and rock your thumb up or down. Don't try to hit each specifically.

You don't need a side scroll wheel, hold the shift key while you scroll and it's the same thing. FWIW I got the G602 because that's all my Best Buy gift certificate would cover, and I'm really glad I did. I thought the 6 side buttons would annoy me, they are so great, the first mouse in a long time that fits my hand like a glove. I'd take the G602 over the MX M2 despite the $60 price difference.

It's not my channel ;) HWC is a collaborative effort between 3 video producers (Eber, Aidan and myself), editor staff for the site, editor in Chief and a biz manager :) Share the love for all plus I'm on the channel ALL the time :) you just gotta watch more stuff!

Pixel_Vengeur I have seen it. Exactly, that's what I meant by that, there are few categories in tech, that I love to watch even if I'm not interested a bit in watching it. From the beginning, it was his personality and editing style, which made me stick to this channel till this date, but all I see him do these days is, PC builds/benchmarks and other hardware stuffs.
I hope to see him reviewing more of tech stuff in future.

I have the performance MX and still use it. I have the new MX Master 2 and I think the mouse is the best I have ever used. I also use a Razer Mamba (Wireless). Of all of those the MX Master 2 is easily the best, but my original MX works very well still. It's pretty impressive to have a device work as well as it did when i bought it a few years ago.

Performance MX user here. Still loving the overall feel and heft of it, even though the glide pads (on my model at least) are just a tad too slim for any but the firmest mouse pads. The real shame is that Logitech won't offer a direct successor; for my type of workload, easily accessible buttons are much preferable to the video editing-focussed scroll wheel thingie. I have the thumb rest button mapped to change DPI for high precision tasks in some tools or to a simple quick-save command in others. Not looking forward to the day I'll have to replace this beauty.

Well, I'm still rocking a 4 year old M705 on it's original batteries, which are at 40% because I turned it off for the first 3 years when not in use.
I'm upgrading to a second hand MX 2S for the horizontal scrolling, which was the same price as a new M705.

I had the Performance MX mouse for a very long time. I even brought it with me on a deployment! When I had down town coming home I played Skyrim and it was pretty nice. I got more and more into my graphic work and it preformed like a beast. That is until I dropped it and the little reflective crystal fell out and the DARK FIELD laser stopped tracking! -_- All in all it was a great mouse and I kept it for all the memories!

One would expect that, in such a long video, you'd go into important details about the mouse.
I just got the MX Master 2S to replace my now half-dead Performance, but the lack of horizontal navigation (left/right push) from the vertical scroll button is a total deal-breaker. The noise made by the main buttons when clicked is also significantly louder than the Performance MX. Finally, you can kind of of learn how to live with the horrible position of the forward/back buttons, but I'd rather have them in the original position and ditch the horizontal scroll.
It seems like the Anywhere 2S would be the right choice for me (despite de much smaller size), but then they've decide to make the clickable scroll a non-button (yet another very important detail not mentioned in your video).

My mouse is the MX Master mouse and I use it for gaming. It is the only mouse big enough to fit my giant hands. Ive remapped center-click to the gesture button to toggle auto-run in world of warcraft with my thumb.

I don't own the Wireless Performance MX - I own the wired version of it. It was (arguably still is) a kick butt mouse. I recently changed to the G502 (but I'm not letting my Performance MX go) - it does suit my use (esp when gaming) better. I've kept the laser mouse for back up. I'm very happy with both.
