Hi. Great video. I use the Performance MX. Old, yes I know. :-) But I use the tilt click of the wheel all the time. I have it set to middle button, and I use it for rotating and panning in Autodesk Revit. I know, I could use the wheel button, but this is much "harder" to press down than the left tilt button. So because I use all the time every day, it makes a difference. Now the problem is I dont want to upgrade, because the newer mouses dont have this button. Do you have an idea as to which button I could program for this on the Master 3, or an idea for a different mouse.? (the M705 have the tilt wheel button, so I tried it, even though it's an inferior mouse. The tilt wheel button is ONLY a one click button, not a press and hold button, so it dosn't work) All inputs will be much appreciated.. - Thank you :-)

I have 2S and actually love the shape more than 3. It is sharper than 3 and I think it looks more aggressive in that way. Now I am using G502 Hero for gaming and MX Master 2S for productivity. Thanks for review and comparison.

The feel of the scroll wheel has definitely been improved, but the actual functionality is completely broken. Just returned mine today as the scroll wheel was not registering all the steps, so it felt really inconsistent and unreliable. Here you can see the issue: th-cam.com/video/gfIDI1qiurc/w-d-xo.html
Bought mx 3 yesterday. If you don't have mx 2 then better buy mx 3. the difference is really great. from my point of view back forward side buttons more userfriendly on mx 3. and of course thumb rest button with funny tweak (you can pull it up) and type-c. even upgrade from 2 to 3 seems reasonable.
If you don't care about the side scroll wheel, perhaps you haven't considered using it for volume control. Very handy. In fact, I use my mouse as my remote control when I watch TV.
The Logitech Triathlon has mostly the same features for $30-$50 (depending on the merchant), if anyone is interested. It's sort of between the MX Master and MX Anywhere in form and function.

I love my triathlon! The easy switching button is in such a great place compared to the mx master series being on the bottom. I am really in need of the side scrolling wheel though and am debating about grabbing and mx master series 2s or 3 now that I know my workflow would improve with side scroll. The thing is, my work machine cannot have any Bluetooth connections nor outside software installed (ChromeBook). So I would HAVE to use the unifying receiver AND constantly press the switching button on the bottom to go from personal to work pc doing so many many times a day. I wonder if the side scroll is worth having to press the switching button on the underside 🤔

Am I the only one that does not get why the Bluetooth switch button is underneath the mouse? This should be on top if you ask me. The 3S does look like an upgrade though overall. I liked the back and forward buttons on the 2S though, really easy to flick up and down once you get used to it. This is the only thing stopping me from getting the 3. I think having two buttons just takes longer and I go back and forth a lot on web pages.
Buttons on the side of the MX2 look way better and not like an after thought, never had an issue with lifting up the mouse to look at battery level. the new placement for the LED is no better. So if you have the MX Master 2, there is a no need for an upgrade at all
My favorite mouse so far is the G602. But I just ordered the MX Master 3 because I think the side scroll wheel will help with navigating in my DAW. We shall see!
Hey, I am going to buy either a MX Master 2S or a 3, and after seeing your video and another ton of reviews, I decided that I should buy the 3... but then I saw all the complaints about delays with the scroll wheel, or movements that the wheel doesn't register at all, and for a 100€ mouse is pretty much concerning. Have you (or anyone else) experienced some of those scroll wheel issues? Thank y'all so much!
This definitely helped me make my decision to get the 3 over the 2S. I use a Razer Viper Ultimate for my gaming but wanted something for my daily driver.
Having used both, here is my review for both. MX 3 is smaller, so slightly less comfortable for people with big hands MX 3 wheel is very quiet. This could be the only reason to upgrade MX 3 thumb button is not user friendly. Now to click I need to put more pressure and the mouse tends to topple because it does not have support directly under the button unlike 2S. This is a huge design flaw.. And also the default settings for thumb button is different from 2S and makes it painful in Ubuntu. I've stopped using thumb button. The wheel ratchet click noise is the only reason I am going to use MX 3 and 2S. However this is a fail in other aspects.
Yeah I love it, battery is draining out pretty quick these days because it's old so it's time to replace it. The only mouse i've ever had people comment on how nice it is to use.
I had the original MX Master, the top rubbery material started to degrade so I got the 2S. If this one goes I'll get the 3. Logitech nailed it with these mice - I'll look no further.

@@just_drums_please I too would like to know this. I could definitely see the MX3 having issues on a Mac (as have all my former Logitech mice purchases) however I would think that a Logitech mouse designed specifically for Mac would solve any compliance issues.

G700s is my all time favorite mouse. I have had two of them already and I would have get third but it is no longer available. I have had MX Revolution, MX Master 2s and many others. How hard it can be to make MX Master with couple of extra buttons like in G700s? I really hate the current flat almost symmetrical gaming mouse design. Just give me a MX master with at least 13 buttons. G604 or MX master 3 is probably my new mouse because there is no good other alternatives with hyper fast scrolling. Still I would like to have a new G700s in stead of the new crap.

Hey man, I use the G602 in my graphic design studio as it was a vast improvement over the apple mouse. I loved the macros, although I only ended up using 2 or 3 of the bottons. I do a lot of detailed illustration work, along with some photoshop and after effects/garage band. I'm in the market for a new mouse, would you recommend this MX Master 3, or the G604 upgrade. I do love the idea of having side-scrolling!
I’m using a $20 Logitech Keyboard and the MX Master 3. The keyboard does its job and I’ve been using it for work and I just acquired the MXM3 mouse and the combo works wonders. It’s more than enough for my work purposes and I love how you can program 3 devices to the Mx master 3 mouse.

I feel like my 2S is small and you are saying 3 is narrow compare to 2S. I don't have huge hands but when I am using I want my hand to rest on the mouse totally and with my 2S my hand is resting towards the back and left side of the mouse and holding the rest as if I have the MX Anywhere in my hand. Side two button designs are better but seems like the same mouse. I am confused and cant decide. maybe I should get a trackpad.
did you experience any scrolling issues with the Master 3? A lot of users including myself have the issue with intermittent scrolling issues that it wont register the movement.
I use the original MX Master. Comfortable mouse, but the lack of dpi settings and polling rate made it not my first choice. Recently I had to use it for more than a day and by coincidence I found the perfect usage for it. Final Cut Pro X. The thumb scroll wheel is a huge time saver as it scrolls the timeline. The problem for me now is that the two forwards/backwards buttons are just too far to the back and they kind of "block" the thumb scroll wheel. Here comes MX Master 3 which appears to have solved both of them. The question is, how do I convince myself to pay so much money for a mouse I kinda already have, and I actually also have several other mice available to me (bought years ago). If logitech software supported change of DPI at least, but as far as I know they don't. WAIT, I see in your video showing the tech specs, can you really now through the software change the dpi levels? Thanks for this very good video.
I like MX1000, though wheel hasn't survived that well. However, it has scroll up and down buttons next to wheel which these MX Master series are missing. Would like that feature added if I ever upgrade.
Bought the Master 3 last week, and I HATE the ergonomics. The raised section behind your index finger is so uncomfortable, it's in the bin, replaced by a Rapoo.
Quite funny actually, 2 days ago my original MX Master I've had since March of 2016 just took a poop on me and stopped working. Lasted me a good 4.5 years which was awesome. Considering the differences between the original and the new 3 model are very small, I just bought a new original model instead. These mice are insanely worth their money, and I use mine for 12-14 hours a day, 6 days a week.
I've used the MX Performance mice for years. Great design, fair to poor physical quality, which is a hallmark of Logitech. Looks like the MX Master 2 has the forward/back buttons in a really weird place, so that's out for me. Available Performance MX mice are being priced like collectors items, so maybe a MX Master 3 is next?
The best model ever, and by far, for me personally is the MX1100. Still have 2 of them for both laptop and PC.. As well as master 3 for daily usage. I also had master 2 but didn't like it.

I have both MX Performance and MX Master 2S the older MX Performance are much better mouse than the 2S will skip the Master 3 and hope Logitech can make something better soon...
I use Performance MX also. I had 2s and 3 from Amazon, returned them. Crappy ergonomics, no mouse acceleration etc. Performance MX still the best non-gaming mouse.
the should have kept the 2s as is and JUST rise the area portion of the palm rest in the grp index thumb area like the did on the 3 series.... narrowing the mouse width fatigues your fingers in power user 3d modelling action, as you forced to push the mouse sideways to the left using your pinky, while with the 2s u can use annular and have the pinky resting on the exterior side wall thus zero fatigue. Buy 2s and wait for 4 if its gonna be good... the 3 is apiece of junk.
Great video, I have the MX2 and had it since November 2017 - I love it - the best mouse ever but like every Logitech mouse the left button started behaving erratically due to wear and I have to buy a new mouse. I wonder if the '3' is better for this (I suspect not) it just seems such a waste to throw away what is otherwise a perfectly good mouse. Anyone know what the click rating is and whether I should be looking at a better model with greater longevity?
You didn't cover the new multi-computer support in the MX Master 3. When the drivers are installed on two different computers you can drag the mouse from one computer to the other and even copy files on one and paste them on the other. That feature is only available with the drivers on the new MX Master 3. That's a big deal for people who use a work PC and their personal laptop next to each other.
my old mx master died today. so i will make the upgrade. funny my mx preformace for my laptop is still running (although not in perfect condition anymore)
Definitely the mx performance is my favorite and what I still use at work. I'm rocking a mx master 2s at home. I just wish I could install logitech options on my work computer then I would use my 2s at work then get a 3 for home
Ask your IT department to install the drivers for you. It seems like a harmless request. Most IT departments are happy to help if it will result in a better experience for you.

The Master 2S has this super loud clack sound every time you initiate hyperscroll but then cut the scrolling off to stop it. Does the Master 3 have this problem too?
Huge difference imo. The 3 is tons better both in the feeling of the back and forward button and the scroll wheels. I love it for gaming as well which was problematic on the 2s. And then USB C is yummy!!
Hi, I had purchased the Mx Master 3 mouse the black colored version I guess that's for the pc, but its can also be used with the mac although there is a mac version which comes in a white box. Since mince mine is the black colored version, I tried to pair it via bluetooth on my mac but it says my mac bluetooth does not support bluetooth smart devices, but was able to pair it using the usb dongle that came with mx master 3. have you tried pairing your Mx Master 3 mouse on a mac via bluetooth? What is your thought on that issue?

Tracking performance just isn't on par with for example some of their gaming mice. Of course, you could use it for FPS, but not for a competitive purpose
Also, it doesn't use raw input. It has internal acceleration and such, resulting in the fact that it doesn't exactly do what you want it to. It's probably fine for casual gaming

The MX Master 3 has some serious issues with scrolling. Check out the Logitech forums before buying the device...

Side scroll is great for large documents and saves me so much time. Now I have to upgrade from the 2S.

Currently the MX 2s is available for $59, while the MX 3 is $99.
Would you go with the 2s over the 3 considering the price difference?
Bought the Master 3 last week, and I HATE the ergonomics. The raised section behind your index finger is so uncomfortable, it's in the bin, replaced by a Rapoo.
Quite funny actually, 2 days ago my original MX Master I've had since March of 2016 just took a poop on me and stopped working. Lasted me a good 4.5 years which was awesome. Considering the differences between the original and the new 3 model are very small, I just bought a new original model instead. These mice are insanely worth their money, and I use mine for 12-14 hours a day, 6 days a week.
Great mouse! I use the MX2 on a glass table and it works fine on that surface! Amazing technology.
I've used the MX Performance mice for years. Great design, fair to poor physical quality, which is a hallmark of Logitech. Looks like the MX Master 2 has the forward/back buttons in a really weird place, so that's out for me. Available Performance MX mice are being priced like collectors items, so maybe a MX Master 3 is next?

The best model ever, and by far, for me personally is the MX1100. Still have 2 of them for both laptop and PC.. As well as master 3 for daily usage. I also had master 2 but didn't like it.

The G604 is on sale now. Cheaper than the MX with more features.

I have both MX Performance and MX Master 2S
the older MX Performance are much better mouse than the 2S
will skip the Master 3 and hope Logitech can make something better soon...
I feel the same. Performance mouse fit my hand better. Master 2S is made for people with large hand.
I use Performance MX also. I had 2s and 3 from Amazon, returned them. Crappy ergonomics, no mouse acceleration etc. Performance MX still the best non-gaming mouse.
Running a MX Anywhere 2S, love the sensor.

the should have kept the 2s as is and JUST rise the area portion of the palm rest in the grp index thumb area like the did on the 3 series.... narrowing the mouse width fatigues your fingers in power user 3d modelling action, as you forced to push the mouse sideways to the left using your pinky, while with the 2s u can use annular and have the pinky resting on the exterior side wall thus zero fatigue.
Buy 2s and wait for 4 if its gonna be good... the 3 is apiece of junk.

Great video, I have the MX2 and had it since November 2017 - I love it - the best mouse ever but like every Logitech mouse the left button started behaving erratically due to wear and I have to buy a new mouse. I wonder if the '3' is better for this (I suspect not) it just seems such a waste to throw away what is otherwise a perfectly good mouse. Anyone know what the click rating is and whether I should be looking at a better model with greater longevity?
Metal parts will last but the click area and thumb rest wear out and then it loses the appeal.
You didn't cover the new multi-computer support in the MX Master 3. When the drivers are installed on two different computers you can drag the mouse from one computer to the other and even copy files on one and paste them on the other. That feature is only available with the drivers on the new MX Master 3. That's a big deal for people who use a work PC and their personal laptop next to each other.
I liked the Comfort Wave keyboard and I currently have a MX Master 2S.

Definitely the mx performance is my favorite and what I still use at work. I'm rocking a mx master 2s at home. I just wish I could install logitech options on my work computer then I would use my 2s at work then get a 3 for home
Ask your IT department to install the drivers for you. It seems like a harmless request. Most IT departments are happy to help if it will result in a better experience for you.

MX Master 3 for Mac. This seems like a winner. Although currently almost twice the price as the 2S, would you recommend the upscale?
the scroll wheel is bad, it always register an extra half scroll, plus some delay scroll.
Both great mouses, but that Unity usb stick is a big letdown.

As far as I can see, users using OS Catalina and Logitech's Unifying receiver, so not Bluetooth connection, don't have any problems.
Got 2s and Craft keyboard on MacBook pro with Catalina nonproblems works great ;)

@@bet1america I've used the al three generations and I liked the 2s the most. I don't have medium size hands and I returned the 3 because it just didn't felt good in my hand. I recommend the 2s!!

@@bet1america I recommend the 3 because the scroll wheel is amazingly smooth. I don't like the more extreme design of the 3 though but the 2 also hurt my hand. I would say 1st or 3rd. Basically the 3rd if it doesn't hurt your hand.

The Master 2S has this super loud clack sound every time you initiate hyperscroll but then cut the scrolling off to stop it. Does the Master 3 have this problem too?
No it dosen't, that's now non-existing with the MagSpeed wheel

Huge difference imo. The 3 is tons better both in the feeling of the back and forward button and the scroll wheels. I love it for gaming as well which was problematic on the 2s. And then USB C is yummy!!
Hi, I had purchased the Mx Master 3 mouse the black colored version I guess that's for the pc, but its can also be used with the mac although there is a mac version which comes in a white box. Since mince mine is the black colored version, I tried to pair it via bluetooth on my mac but it says my mac bluetooth does not support bluetooth smart devices, but was able to pair it using the usb dongle that came with mx master 3. have you tried pairing your Mx Master 3 mouse on a mac via bluetooth? What is your thought on that issue?
As far as I understand, it has to be that white "for Mac's" version in order for it to work, it's the same situation with the new MX Anywhere 3

Great video! You mentioned the mouse is not suitable for FPS gaming, why is that?
Tracking performance just isn't on par with for example some of their gaming mice. Of course, you could use it for FPS, but not for a competitive purpose
Too heavy, too big, double the response time of wired and lightspeed wireless gaming mice
Also, it doesn't use raw input. It has internal acceleration and such, resulting in the fact that it doesn't exactly do what you want it to. It's probably fine for casual gaming
