I found out last July when I almost died that I have CKD stage 4!! I was never told I had stages 1-3! Meanwhile my doctor knew I was taking ibuprofen daily for pain for years! When they took away everyone’s pain medication, I turned to ibuprofen.
I'm so sorry to hear about what you’ve been through. Sadly, daily ibuprofen can be tough on the kidneys, especially over time. It's frustrating when important health info isn’t shared sooner. You're strong for getting through this-take care of yourself, and keep asking those important questions!
I took metformin for iver 20 years for type 2 diabetes. Now I'm in stage 4 CKD. I swear this was caused by the metformin. My dr says "no way. Metformin doesn't do that.". She just brushes me off when I bring up the subject.
I was put on a statin for high LDL. I stopped it because of muscle pain, I noticed my kidney function declined. The PCP said no relationship, my endocrinologist said otherwise. After stopping the statin, my kidney function improved. Now on Zetia and will check the outcome.
Great information ! I have heard things about metformin and ibuprofen just not the details... I have diabetes and I'm always very careful about taking any extra medications...😉. ❤
It’s so frustrating! I have one kidney due to kidney cancer. Two years after having my right kidney removed my dr told me I had stage 3 kidney disease. She said drink lots of water and stay away from ibuprofen. Wish they would have told me this when I had the kidney removed! I have a ct scan done every 6 months due to the cancer. I am on Jardiance since they took me off the metformin as soon as I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. I always feel like I’m walking a tightrope, I can’t have carbs because of the diabetes, can’t eat to much protein because of the kidney disease, I can’t eat greasy or fried foods because I had my gallbladder removed about 25 years ago! Sorry, about the ranting.
Doc I'm very sad to say that my mum's kidneys failed due to long term usage of Naproxen, having rheumatoid arthritis from a young age of 42. She is now 88. She's also a heart failer, and doesn't have long to live. I'm very convinced the Naproxen also attributed to her heart failure..
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. Long-term medication use can have serious side effects, and it’s heartbreaking to see loved ones go through this. Wishing you and your family strength during this tough time.

Oral contrast is generally safe for healthy kidneys, as it passes through the digestive system. If you have kidney issues, inform your doctor to ensure precautions are taken.
I have been having recurring infections for about a year and a half, but my kidneys showed functioning just fine in July. Do you think I should be recheched??
Recurring infections for that long are definitely worth following up on. Even if your kidneys were fine in July, it’s a good idea to get rechecked to rule out any new issues. Better safe than sorry!
Yes, 200 mg of CoQ10 is generally considered safe for most people, but it’s always best to check with your doctor to make sure it’s right for your specific needs.
Happy New Year! Burning from neuropathy can be challenging. Treatments like medications (e.g., gabapentin, pregabalin), topical creams, or lifestyle changes might help. Please consult your doctor for personalized care and symptom relief. Wishing you comfort and health!
It’s reasonable to review long-term medication use like Famotidine with your doctor, especially after three years. While generally safe, prolonged use might increase the risk of certain side effects, such as nutrient deficiencies or altered gut health. Discuss whether the dosage and frequency are still necessary or if adjustments might be appropriate.
If Berberine isn’t working, try a low-carb diet, regular exercise, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon extract, or magnesium. Consider discussing medications like metformin with your doctor. Manage sleep and stress for better control.

Try acetaminophen for pain, OTC hydrocortisone, and heavy moisturizers like those with ceramides. Avoid long-term ibuprofen use, and see a GP if symptoms worsen.

High glucose levels pull water from your tissues, causing dehydration and triggering thirst. If you're experiencing persistent thirst along with frequent urination, fatigue, or weight changes, consult a doctor for evaluation.
Alternatives to omeprazole include H2 blockers (e.g., famotidine), antacids, alginate remedies like Gaviscon, and lifestyle changes. Consult your doctor first! 😊

Tylenol only is what I was told! I don’t allow Advil in my home now!
1. NSAIDS
2. ANTIBIOTICS - minimize
3. DIURETICS
4. PPI - Proton Pump Inhibitors-interstitial nephritis
5. CONTRAST for CT- HYDRATE AFTER!
6. LAXATIVE OVERUSE- dehydrates kidneys

Acetominophen isn't innocent, either.
