I would recommend trying to clean out your computer. Try blowing compressed air both into the intake and output ports. If your comfortable with it and have the needed small screwdriver, open the bottom and get more dust out.

I’m an urban vanlifer - one with familiar faces and places, daily routines … but I really want to be traveling. I need to upgrade my van to do that and it’s been a slow process of saving, loss, more saving, etc. something I’m hoping to document …

I also enjoy your bloops at the end of the video, lol BUT one thing you did not touch on in this video, I really love the "community" you and your friends have built. I hope that IF I can get on the road I can find fellow travelers to knit my own community as I travel. Community is important to mental health and important to gypsy style life. Thank you for all you have done to show us all how it can be. Oh, yeh, and you doit with such grace and beauty. I hope maybe some day our paths will cross, and I can meet you in person. But there seems to be somethng always getting in the way of my getting on the road, Injuries , I had Covid back before it was called Covid in 2019 , and just recovering now from having a cancerous tumor removed from my head. It never seems to end, afraid of what life is going to hit me with next to keep me from getting out of here, selling my condo, and hitting the road!

As an Ex-professional photographer , I enjoy your work and great photography, especially your photos of plants and flowers. Such attention to detail!! You have quite the artistic eye as evidenced in your paintings and photography.
I fully agree with the comment (s) about cleaning out the fan of your laptop. However, it might be a better idea to at least take your laptop to a Lenovo store or comparable computer repair store to perform the cleaning in a proper environment. Or better yet, have a tech perform the work for you. Your fan might also be damaged in some way and unable to spin fully. Or the vents are clogged preventing proper air flow. Basically, your laptop needs help. The loud noises will only get louder until there is silence. As in your laptop, stops working. I understand from your previous replies, you are not ready for a Mac. Maybe though, in addition to getting your Lenovo repaired you can also purchase a affordable backup. I am not sure what you would do if you could not edit / upload your videos.
This was a great video! This information inspires me, like your channel has so many times! I struggle with making myself sit down and edit. I just spent two weeks in Israel and am working on a video. Its hard to tackle 15 days worth of footage! It seems overwhelming, but I am struggling through it! I have enjoyed watching your channel grow, and you inspire me the most out of the content creators that I am subscribed to! Thanks for the information and I look forward to your next video!

Thanks for this video. I was thinking of creating videos about being a solo old woman living in Mexico without knowing anyone when I arrived and not speaking Spanish. I was a nomad for years in a van and on ships and just exploring the world (42 countries) which I could do because I worked online for 25 years in a business I created myself. This video makes me think twice about this idea. Soooo much work!!!!

Wow, the mental health part was so real, raw, and relatable. The entire video was! This lifestyle is a blessing but it's true, you don't clock in or out. You mentioned being on TH-cam is a very privileged job a few times, but I think people often use that word incorrectly. The fact that you started with almost nothing and put an incredible amount of effort and time into what you’ve accomplished proves anyone can do what you’re doing with the same amount of dedication put in. Anyone can create this for themselves with hard work.

Very informative...and I love how you presented all of the information. You are becoming a good teacher - i.e. when during your first video in the Carizzo Plain you shared with us about how to care for the wildflowers. I loved the lesson on flower pressing. And I share that video with others. I was a college teacher (29 years) and director of early childhood programs (16 years, I even owned a preschool for 9 years) so I say this with some experience.
I always highlighted (and still do for volunteer jobs I do) outlines of things I am doing. I saw in your journal that you had things outlined in various colors. Finally - the post office you were at is in my home town. I'd recognize it anywhere (my father was a mail carrier). I look forward to all of your future videos.

I am new to your channel so I have a lot of catching up to do. I really loved this video as you did an excellent job in explaining all of the in's and out's of van life and being a You tuber. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to your future videos.
Your channel is easily one of my favorites on TH-cam. Sure, for me as I assume for most people it's fun and easy escapism, or as you called it dissociation at the end of the day, but we all need that. But there's depth here too, your art, your observations, your struggles both practical and emotional (and I mean the kind that all of us have in life), your travels, and so on. You also seem like a really nice person and have a very pleasant and appealing personality and on-camera presence which of course is important to succeed on TH-cam, but your content is substantial too, and your videos well-made. And who doesn't love Eliza? 😊
The only two questions I'd ask, which are the ones I'd ask any vanlifer whether they post on TH-cam or elsewhere or not, is one, what made you decide to get into this lifestyle, and two, how on earth can you stand not having a shower inside your van. 🤣Whenever I "build" my dream van in my mind, the shower is the first thing that I invariably think about (and I've managed to come up with some dedicated shower space ideas that barely take up any additional room and don't involve pull-up curtains or showering outside). But, to each their own and everyone's different of course. So long as you're happy with your setup is what matters.

I'm mid build with a view to live in the the van full time in a few years, over here in the UK, where the vanlife experience is VERY different and the scenery, although beautiful in parts, is not as varied and plentiful as in the states. Love seeing the US through your eyes and being taken there by your journey!

Oh my gosh, Maddie, there were so many things you said that either a.) resonated with me, or b.) I was wishing we were in a cafe somewhere so I could have a full on conversation with you about these things! #1 - that Ira Glass comment... I'm a teacher, and it just hit so close to home, because even thought I'm not a content creator, I have taught teens for 24 years now, and I just kept thinking about how over the years I've gotten to be so much better of a teacher as well. That lead to #2 - how there are days when I"m a rock star teacher and days where I'm barely even a groupie. I think we're all like that. I love how you live with such passion, but allow yourself the grace to have down days. I know I'm a lot older than you, but gosh, there are so many times that I have thought, we'd probably be good buds. In my younger years I was a globe trotter, and I miss those days sometimes. One last thing - I've been watching you for a long time, as well as other van lifers, and I love your van the most! It's the cutest, the sweetest, the cleanest!! It's lovely! One question I've wanted to ask and I hope it's not too intrusive - if it is, ignore it. But I was wondering if you still keep in touch with Anna? Also, where was Miss Eliza? :) Thanks, Maddie!!

Maddie, To calm your computer fan down from being noisy buy a cooling stand to put the computer on, it will be quiet and cool down your computer so it doesn't have to get too hot to be cooled down internally 🙂🙂

I could swear that a few weeks ago I recommended a handheld vacuum such as the one that you talked about in this video, if not on this channel then another vanlifer channel but I'm pretty sure that it was this one. The one I have is a different model that's also a powerful blower, but I'm glad to see that you got one of these as they're SO useful and a lot more powerful than you'd expect just looking at it.
Note that I'm not suggesting that you got one because of my suggestion, just that it's a funny and fortunate coincidence. 😊It's just the perfect size for a van as it doesn't take up much space and I'm sure gets into all those small spaces that even a dustbuster-size vacuum can't. (So many bad jokes come to mind none of which I'll pain anyone with.)

I've thought about doing van life myself besides working in a warehouse, but I can't find any good size vans out there through internet.
You always have something good about having van life from your videos. Always want to make sure that everything you have that works in a good and clean condition as possible, besides the laptop. Laptops can also be slow when having too much internet history. It might be best to clear out any unwanted history so that the computer can work properly again.
Loved this on Maddie! And now that I think about it.. I might have found you from your viral video! Although I WAS searching van life a lot back then... so maybe it was Mariah....? Oh man it was too long ago lol

Very helpful!!! Thank you for your efforts and honesty. I would imagine the constant concern would be: is the content going to be interesting enough to keep your audience or capture new subscribers and that can be exhausting in of itself as one strives for relevance. What we think it should be vs what it actually is can be really insightful. You’re so right about creating trust. I’m far more interested in watching content that has the intention of being “ straight up” in a world that has gone crazy with misinformation, disinformation and just absolute garbage etc
