FILM DESCRIPTION:
Having rescued robot Johnny Five (Tim Blaney) from being destroyed by the military in "Short Circuit," Indian scientist Ben Jahrvi (Fisher Stevens) moves to New York City to become an American citizen. After struggling to sell a few toy replicas of Johnny, Ben must scramble to make more when Sandy Banatoni (Cynthia Gibb) orders 1,000 for her department store. With Johnny's help, Ben begins making the gadgets, but his plans are endangered when thief Oscar Baldwin (Jack Weston) steals Johnny.

500 MB! A lot of memory in 1988!
Given I had a 20meg hard drive on my mac at the time yes 500 was 'woah'... not to mention ram and the like was 2-4megs lol. How far we've come in the last 30+ years.
My phone has 64 gigabytes and it is one tenth the size of johnny five. How can that be?
I always chuckle when he says that. On a lighter note, I wonder how powerful his graphics card is? Does he see at 60fps? 1080p? 4K? Ray-tracing?

GPT-4 has 2 trillion parameters, meaning weights alone would need something like 10 terabytes to store, and it was trained on something like a petabyte of data.
In 1988, 500 megabytes of RAM (assuming volatile RAM since otherwise the ending of the movie wouldn't have been as dramatic) would've cost several tens of thousands of dollars though, so it probably seemed like a super huge number.
He could run at full capacity for roughly 20 days
Johnny 5's utility pack is located where the laser weapon used to be. The utility pack is basically a modified tool box.
Yup pretty much for him to access accessories, equipment, even a grappling magnet he shoots to hook on to metals for swinging around and stopping vehicles. In the first film he only used his laser weapon to defend himself and certain situations, not to kill at all.

This movie proved why the right to bear arms is important. Johnny was defenseless against the crooks without his gun.
Unacceptable as the laser may have been to Johnny, he did learn to use it in a calculated and disciplined fashion. That, and it would have really come in handy later on.

I KNOW, RIGHT?! Ah man, so long ago when I 1st saw this sequel and NEVER had a clue back in the day the toys were just props and not actually for sale! That’s how damn BELIEVABLE Johnny5’s advertising/promo was (to me) back then!

For the first time I noticed all the little holes under those dancing toy J5s. Those aren't the RC ones, they're just some of the static prop ones being wiggled back and forth from underneath.
I think they’re just props, honestly. Somewhere I think I saw an actual 1/prop from the movie or how to make them, which in my opinion don’t really come nearly as close. I’m so disappointed they didn’t actually make real 1s for sale.

Man, they SHOULD’VE sold them! Johnny 5 had me SOLD the moment he pitched his promo to Benjamin. It was just THAT believable I wanted 1 SO bad back then! I’m still way disappointed to this day every time I watch this clip that they weren’t real and only props.

He may be white but he's got a very ethnic look. Even without the makeup now he could be taken for Indian. In some of his recent pictures where he either has a tan or the lighting makes his skin look dark he looks Indian.
