    FILM DESCRIPTION:
    Having rescued robot Johnny Five (Tim Blaney) from being destroyed by the military in "Short Circuit," Indian scientist Ben Jahrvi (Fisher Stevens) moves to New York City to become an American citizen. After struggling to sell a few toy replicas of Johnny, Ben must scramble to make more when Sandy Banatoni (Cynthia Gibb) orders 1,000 for her department store. With Johnny's help, Ben begins making the gadgets, but his plans are endangered when thief Oscar Baldwin (Jack Weston) steals Johnny.

      i would say our robotics is getting to the point where it's almost to this point, maybe not personality so much, but we have improved on quite a bit.

    Short Circuit 1 and 2 are nothing short of creative masterpieces. Really under-appreciated. It’s impressive to get J5 looking this good in the 80s. Motions seem very genuine, not too janky and it’s just awesome.

    Don't understand why this movie name is not taken along with other 80's movies like Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire etc. Watched it a million times since I was a kid. LOOVE THIS MOVIE!

      Exactly. I watched Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 a million times, hell I still watch them both a lot to this day! I just love those movies. The Character of Johnny Five, the design of the robot, the puppeter work, the charm these movies have. I love that it's all practical effects.

    I'm sitting here marveling at the workmanship of Johnny 5's modelling and puppetry. An actual physical object in set with the actors looks soo much more impressive nowadays ( when done right ).

      There was apparently a few people required to control him (which makes sense, he's a complex robot)
      Bit it's just amazing that there was basically no automation at all, that it was just a group of people making him seek so lifelike
      Even though we can see he's a machine

      I think it shows that the "hero" animatronic of No. 5 was built with little regard to cost. The first one came in at over $175,000...so you can adjust that for inflation.

    I'm British born with Indian roots. I NEVER had a problem with Fisher Stevens. He performed the role with respect and was so convincing I never realised he was played by a white actor until much later in life! Short Circuit is the best!

      Alongside Johnny, his character was my favourite as a child. I had no idea then he wasn't really of Indian descent - but I grew up respecting people just like the character he portrayed.

    Just watched w my kids. Surprisingly, part 1 and part 2, still hold up and are arguably better than when I was a kid watching these. Excellent movies!

    The 1980s I believe was the best time for movies. So many good stories, music, and the pratical effects were amazing. Truly wonderful. You will never get this again. Now it is all CGI and explosions.

    I will never tire if watching this movie! Except when he gets um, injuredem. I saw it with my dad right before he passed away. Now as an adult, I catch all kinds of little details I missed. I'm surprised they haven't brought him back! I never watched Chappie again though, because he gets attacked.
    For that era in movies, I thought it was well-done especially pulling in your heart strings with J5.

      Agreed. It's a great performance. also the performance of the robot, all the puppeters and Tim Blaney providing the voice and personality of Johnny Five really brings him to life and makes you believe he's really alive in the movie and forget he's being controlled by puppeters. This was excellently done.

    When I first saw this movie I really liked it especially with the return of Number 5 or as he now calls himself Johnny 5 as he sure knows how to make an entrance and he did a really great impersonation of Stephanie when he read her letter to Ben and Fred.

      There's also a short that takes place after the 2nd movie. It's about Johnny getting a house or apartment somewhere in New York, and there are car thefts in the area. It only lasts about 20 minutes, and I haven't seen it.

    1:24 I remember when Pizzaville boxes were red & white, plus had the slogan “Quite simply better pizza”. Today they’re brown like Pizzahut boxes and the slogan has been removed.

    No idea Michael McKean, Chuck McGill himself, was in this movie… crazy 😮
    Also, Ben is not Indian… he is played by a white actor but he did excess research on Indian culture and language dialects. Crazy I never knew.
