  • As a player of both iracing and ACC I thought id talk over the key aspects of each simulator when it comes to online ranked racing and review what each sim does best , specifically when it comes to online racing.
    You can get into lowfuelmotorsport.com here for free with you only needing Assetto Corsa Competizione to play , iRacing on the other hand will cost around 250-300 a year to race.

    One thing you forgot to mention for online racing is track limits. I've only played ACC but it's quite nice, especially if you're having a battle and have to cut a corner or go wide, if you don't gain any time it lets you get on with it, and even if you cut you get a few warnings before a penalty.
    Whereas i have seen you have to be really careful in iracing with track limits and it can kill a nice battle.
    Also, i don't get all the gatekeeping comments for LFM. I'm not very quick, like 3-4 seconds per lap easily off the quick guys and i qualified on my second attempt for LFM. It means you don't get absolute newbies entering your races that's all.

    Lots to unpack here :) . well here are my thoughts. its like... a 3 way discussion or debate and all things arent equal. Iracing seems to have greater overall selection, yet lacks the polish of ACC. Hands down ACC looks, sounds, and feels better. IMHO. But thats an ACC vs Iracing discussion. The Iracing vs LFM discussion is more complex. On the surface LFM (seems to be) structured VERY similarly to Iracing with its split methods and performance scoring. I think the BIG difference is that in many ways LFM seems to act like a "gated community". if you arent within 105% of being cool... hit the streets rookie. (engage automated response of "get better then!" here) I feel that as unfortunate. Now I have raced both ACC and IRacing and seen the same level of quality and play in the splits I am in. I have seen people of all skill levels who SHOULD know better... divebomb and crash people out. SO id argue that the higher split drivers do it too on occasion. Plus on TH-cam there are plenty of highlight reels showing it. SO its universal... just less frequent in higher splits id say. But I feel that LFM unfortunately excludes a ton of capable and eager drivers that just want to race CLEAN. So less about overall speed, more about quality of event. I think the smartest thing Kunos (or similar) could do would be to create a fully open LFM style server (like iracing) and allow the splits to be governed and controlled by the metrics LFM already utilizes. Open the gate a little more.. or completely. Make it a paid service if necessary. Thats GOOD thing! if you have THAT many people eager to use your service... you are doing something right. IF you want to keep the community tight.. then leave the gate closed and prepare for the developer that will create competition.

    • @steelin666
      @steelin666 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On one hand I agree that gatekeeping in LFM is overly excessive. On the other hand I can understand that, at least at the moment, the flood of new users needs to be throttled in order to keep the load within the abilities of the community to handle. Despite that quite high bar to pass the license, they're massively growing, with over 50 thousand members already. I can imagine LFM becoming too big for their own sake quite soon.

    • @andreaiachini7517
      @andreaiachini7517 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is not a question of gates... In LFM there are a lot of people that doesn't have racecraft. They race with the brain set on off. They can be fast for a qualifying lap, like the best in the world (in quali usally there is no more than 2 second from 1st to 30). But when the race begins: they defend a 22th place , like it was the last lap of the last race of the World Championship. And make you lap 1 second slower (or even more). Dangerous divebombs. Over aggressive at the start and risk to crash half of the field only to gain a position that they can't even defend when the race go on. Stupid rejoins. And I can also go on lol. Don't misunderstand me. I LOVE LFM. I race there daily and I am in Split 1 since I don't know when. It is for that I say all I said. I am often in the midpack, and I see a lot of bad things. The problem is not LFM, or iRacing. But in the brains. I don't want a train of under aggressive people doing only a race based on pace. But damn... There is also something in the middle.

    • @reckanize
      @reckanize 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing I would say to this is the licence lap time is not that high a bar. Getting within 5% might not sound like much, but that's 3s of leeway for every 60s of laptime. The main challenge people seem to have is that the licence tracks are (deliberately) less popular tracks, so there's a practice gap to be bridged but anyone semi-competent can get it done.

    • @andreaiachini7517
      @andreaiachini7517 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@reckanize believe me : more people than you think have difficulties to get the license. And also other 2 things : there are splits, and in the long game rating never lies. So a part from the beginning where you can have a boost winning some races in Rookies, you will race almost always with people of your skill. And then also in AOR championships there are hotstint qualification, and then you see the carnage also in Split 1 sometimes. So hotstint is not that reliable as a "bar".

    • @rickswanracing3139
      @rickswanracing3139 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@reckanize interesting argument for sure. I do question the bar though. so for laughs I looked at actual performance data at a couple tracks from this year. I looked at the times for qualifying at Snetterton in the British Gt Championships for GT3s. If using the fastest time (of that qualifying session anyway) and applying a 105% cut off.. the two bottom drivers not only would not have qualified to race.. but they would not even be allowed to race in the entire series at all. They would have been disallowed if the LFM model was employed. There are SO many variables that extend far beyond "semi competency" that impact lap times. It is observable real automotive sports and SIM alike. Hence why I say it feels as though the gate has been set so tight that it is designed to exclude many sim races that wild like to be a part of community but for whatever reason cant quite hit the times. They arent as fast as the as the top 105%, but they are serious about sim racing and may even have amazing race craft. My point is that real world racing doesnt seem to employ as tight a margin of exclusion, why should SIM racing? I think i understand some of the logic... slower drivers = lower skills = more wrecking.. maybe. But I see alot of very fast drivers employing extremely poor race craft skills that would not exist if they were in a physical car. And m not trying to come off as bashing LFM, rather ... see an opportunity to expand the community in a healthy way and a way to provide meaningful racing to a larger group.

    Whist I respect your opinion, some of your views on the suspension in ACC, and how grip returns in a slide etc are just incorrect. Kerbs can be a problem if the suspension is set too low, or, too close to the bumpstop, or, dampers are too stiff.
    As for the slides, usually TC will hammer in and absolutely BUTCHER laptime. When you are on the limit, it's really a delicate task to get the power down and get useful traction out of the corner. Different cars in ACC behave quite differently in every circumstance, yet the laptimes are almost identical. They deliver laptime in totally different ways. Some cars can hit a kerb and be really upset, others will be more stable.
    I do agree the driving is generally cleaner in ACC. I think as a sim, it's very focused and niche (GT3/4 and cup cars), and this attracts a more serious sim racer. Iracing can sometimes be the first step on the ladder for most newbies, and this can cause some carnage unfortunately.
    Both sims serve different agendas really, and both do a good job overall. The physics running on ACC is very advanced, which can cut access to only those with good hardware. So this can lead to people on older machines having a bad experience on ACC.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No , ACC simply doesn't have the detail in the FFB.
      Only way to get the information is with an acuforce wheel with foundation FFB (as you can bypass the games ffb) and even then it's worse than other Sims but still way better than default ACC.
      Another nice thing with the Acuforce wheel software is you can switch from the games ffb to custom ffb as you drive so it makes it even more obvious exactly what's missing and how uninformative ACC ffb is.
      I have also played ACC with every wheel on the market and tried it with litrally 0 filter interp or dampening.
      No other SIM has as bland FFB as ACC for tire grip / range of sustained forces for grip.
      AC,RF2,R3E,AMS1,AMS2 are litrally on another level compared to ACC , to be fair iracing FFB also massively lacks this front end grip detail as well.

      The key thing with AMS2 ffb is the developers allow players to massively change the FFB if they want to by editing a ini file for custom ffb.
      The default ffb in AmS2 is also way more detailed than ACC specifically for variations in sustained loads , allowing you to know where the limit is.

    How is LFM free? Remember that if something is free that means you're the product.

      Or they've found investors who believe it'll return a profit when they someday turn it into a paid service?

    iracing is quite inaccurate for gt3 imo. Biggest issue with LFM however is it's gatekeeping. You can increase your playercount without matching the really shitty drivers with the decent ones, that's the entire point of matchmaking. Even the lowest splits in iracing behave decently vs acc public lobbies so the LFM 105% laptime serves nothing but reduce it's usercount like some form of elitism

    I love ACC, but LFM is a trash service, and splits the user base. And then you honorably get the opportunity to play one fucking track a week to not only be crashed out just as much as public lobbies, but also have every wanna be racer that crashes you upload a video blaming the incident on you so you get a penalty a week later when you log in. ACC needs its own ranked lobbies that aren't the trash comp servers is already has, else the game is gonna die off as the player base continues to splinter, and the new wave of sim games start coming out like Rennsport and such.

      Oh the salt. How much you spent on iracing sire?

      @@vecnejhipik5349 no I prefer ACC I have given I racing several times from when I had a belt to a dd wheel. I don't like I racing it has zero feel or texture to the road. I really like ACC, just literally every time I give LFM a chance I get rammed in the ass out of nowhere just to have them try to blame me, my last race on Silverstone a guy literally rammed me gave me rear damage then goes for an overtake a bit later and brakes on the apex and I barely tap him. Yup I got a massive penalty, but the guy that rammed me and broke my car got nothing, great stewards and classy racers -_-

      Someone's had a bad experience on lfm hahaha

      I'm 4 races in so far and have to disagree, or at least say my experience has been the complete opposite. Everyone has been really clean and the one time I did get punted into a spin, the guy literally stopped and waited for me to re-pass him.

      I’m sorry but the incident reviews from the stewards are pretty spot on @ LFM.
      If you got a penalty you were probably the one at fault.
