Janey, have you thought about laying the stones in the shade garden room to match the front walk way and your greenhouse floor? It would look beautiful and not be so expensive! ❤😂❤

You could use your small white bistro table and chairs in your greenhouse for a nice place to sit in the morning and have coffee/tea.

Food for thought, the shade garden pathway, possibly lay the checkered paver stones. It will tie into the front and the greenhouse. 😊

To think you did all of this while nursing a broken foot! This is incredible. My vote for what the unnamed flower is is California poppy. That ferny foliage seems like it to me. Excited to see what it ends up being. Love your garden and love following the evolution!

I have an idea for your green house. You should put the topiaries inside of the green house, one on each side of the door in the corners and then light them with warm white string lights. It would look beautiful in the evenings.

Everything looks great! You've accomplished A Lot in just seven months!
I love the decomposed granite walkway through the shade garden, so don't be discouraged that so many people love your greenhouse floor and want it everywhere. It's very pretty where you have it, but won't be maintenance free like the granite. You need something maintenance free! (I also think people aren't imagining the walkway with plants softening the edges.)
Also, don't feel bad for not finishing the pathway by March 1st! The rain has slowed you down, but I know what it's like to dig in California's hard, dry packed summer soil, so I'd say overall, the rain has helped you, immensely! No one is holding you to that self-imposed deadline, but you. We're just excited to see the orchard looking SO beautiful! The wood chips look Great, and pretty things are popping up.
The plants in the back raised beds are CA Poppies. Congratulations! Everything looks Fabulous!

Janey, you have made so much progress, and things are coming together well in the orchard bed. I know the thought of pruning the fruit trees are out of your comfort zone, I would consider pruning off the citrus branches that are supported by the wooden boards. I also urge you to take that pomegranate tree out that you don't love, and move that small apricot or peach that you have planted along the long drive in it's place. ❤ you and your channel.

  • @itsmewende

It is amazing to me what has been done since last Aug. From all the plantings, raised beds added, greenhouse, and house & fence painted. Honestly, the secret garden is what I'm looking forward to seeing finished, it's such a lovely idea for that side of the house. Oh and that rose, I think I'd move it now, it's not been long that it shouldn't feel...too exhausted to just keep pushing on. Lastly..."should I put it back.?", how sweet is that.

Janey .. it’s simply incredible how much you’ve all done in really a short time and especially with a chunk of the time healing from your injury/operations. You’re so Inspiring to say the least !! I admire your ability to have vision (I know you have a map from Michael Glassman) .. however it’s still amazing how you can envision what will look good where. A real treat to watch and include in my daily routine while I have my morning coffee ☕️🌸🍃

Love they way your garden is shaping up. The pine tree in the far corner is pronounced: Dee-a-Dore. Be proud of yourself as what you have done to the garden areas and what is to come in the future. It is not how much can we do in a season it is what can we do little at a time so that what you plan out comes and it is what you like. Plus be proud that you are doing little at a time so that you will always love what you are doing and not having it become something you hate what you are doing. Plus spreading your time in the front, side and back makes it all enjoyable. Well done.

I know the feeling about weeds! We have a guy who only does weeds and he’s $400.00 a month. He’s here 3 hours every week. We have 2 1/2 acres in SoCal and once he finishes the weeds he starts all over again. By the time he gets back to the start, the weeds are a couple inches tall. The never ending story ❤

Sooo very much enjoyed your tour today!
Your comment on how much you love the blue juniper triggered this comment.
Consider a long sweep of multiples
    7, 9 or 11 blue juniper.
I have a sweep of 9 White Natchez Crepe Myrtles in my moon garden.
The long sweeps have a restful beautiful impact.
Suggesting a long sweep of the Tuscarora Pink Crepe Myrtles
This is the variety from your last property - gets to be 25 ft tall.
The sweeps of one variety feed the soul.
    Your place looking Sooo Amazing.

Love seeing all the beautiful progress! I garden in what they call zone 8 now in Cleveland, AL in the country on 7 acres that looked a lot like what you started with so I love seeing all your projects! I feel for you with Monty digging in your garden. We have 3 large dogs and our beloved Hank cannot resist digging. I will spend hours planting only to come out the next day to find my newly planted plants dug out of their homes laying on their sides (plant not harmed as long as I get it replanted before it dries up). Heard it may be the starter fertilizer I use when planting, apparently he loves the smell and has to investigate…just FYI! Hank only digs up my newly planted plants so there may be something to it?

That's exactly right! You have to start with one area to get it mostly finished. Gardening is never complete, always something in progress. But gives you a sense of accomplishment and a vision for what is to come.
Rome wasn't built in a day. Personally, I would prefer to see your garden built gradually rather than over the course of 1-2 seasons, because that's how most people manage it.

Those are poppies coming up in your raised bed by the greenhouse (the one with the scatter seed mix). Probably CA orange poppies. They are resilient, and will reseed readily. The one that is coming up in the other bed doesn't look like a poppy. They kind of look like a weed that grows in our area (Belmont, CA). Time for "Weeding Wednesday," LOL! Overall, your garden is really taking shape, and those cabbages are absolutely massive! Hope you like to eat cabbage! 😄💐

I love your progress! The greenhouse- i have an 11x10 redwood/glass GH. I thought I would have a quiet sitting space aglow in mornkng sun or temperate nights. BUT
    - they get crazy hot starting in April/May
-i am a busy body and addicted to seed starting
    - i adore it as a workjng gh
-i keep a folding chair in there in case i get the urge to sit and have my coffee surrounded by birdsong
-but instead i sow seed & nurture my seedlings while drinking my cold coffee with soil specs in it 😂
    - i vote you develop a working GH but you don't need to plan it, it'll just draw you in that direction
    - as gardeners we're just on the ride, not usually driving lol 😘

Michael Glassman called it (I went back and viewed his visit). He knew that you needed to focus on one or two areas. Focusing in only one or two areas would be impossible for me.
Laura, Garden Answer, talked about zones in her garden when they first moved to their present property. Zones are one way to stay on top of maintenance and putting eyes on each area weekly. Plus, Laura said she only spent 60-90 minutes per zone on maintaining which then leaves time for planting and new projects. Gardeners are such awesome sharers. I appreciate your need to get your garden going. But I like how you've slowed down to installing infrastructure and perennials. Soon you'll be growing your own plants to propagate your garden...😍😘😍

I was just watching Robbie's video for today, Private Tour of Monrovia. At minute 0.50 there is a multi-trunk something behind him that would look awesome in your center garden when you're ready.

Love love love your videos you’re doing such an awesome job in your yard one thing that bothers me a little bit if you never say our house you always say my house I think your husband might contribute a lot to your house and I think you should use it as our house

Those flowers in your backyard beds look like marigold leaves.... I really like your camelias out front. They look really healthy and off to a good start. 😊
