- (with subtitles) Gardens by Colleen is a manicured woodland garden, the parklike garden is filled with garden art and rare plants, a case study for using dry shade plants. I met Colleen at her plant sale, and the wealth I saw left me in awe. Her wealth transcended material possessions, the garden becomes a vessel of her knowledge and passion, which she generously shares with fellow garden lovers.

What a beautiful and peaceful garden. You can tell she love her plants. Oaks are easy to start with acorns. Here on the California coast they are evergreen and it’s a daily job with all the oak leaves. Happy gardening from the central coast of California 🌻💚

This was a delight filled tour of a magnificent diverse magical garden. I was mesmerized so I must watch it again to write down the names of some plants that caught my eye that I might incorporate into my dry shade garden areas. What an incredible garden and gardener! Every area is so intentional. I was swooning for that back patio with the iron table and chairs and umbrella!!!! What a tranquil space for morning coffee. The white columns with the brick and window panes is pure charm. I would love to spend the day gardening in this beautiful space. This is definitly her passion. Thank you for this inspiration. Before I close... where did she find the amazing garden art on the front porch with the birds and rabbit? I also noticed one on the side yard with a bird ad fish. They are gorgeous and unique!

I love the Heliopolis! I just discovered them two years ago and am so thrilled with their beautiful flowers! I noticed how Colleen said three times how much she thought of them. The garden is a masterpiece! The brick house backdrop reinforces nature and the earth tones reminds us that the soil there is rich in minerals. You are blessed to share your passion with the locals opening up your garden for the plant sale. I enjoyed my years in the garden club and getting those hardy plants from fellow gardeners. The hellebore were coveted and very difficult to purchase as they were the first to be grabbed up. What a great role model you are for the young people starting out in the business. I bet you could get a high school kid to help out, they could earn some hours for college.

I so enjoyed the walk with you and with her. She is generous and you have a good eye to ask the right questions regarding the names of the plants we instinctively wanted to know about. Coleen is so calm as calm as her beautiful garden. I took great inspiration from the fact that she propgates without a green house. I was so sure there would be a huge machine behind some wall churning out these plant, but...no...it is just LOVE and very hard work! Thank you for such a pleasant and well informed and appreciate ( on all our behalf) guided tour. Interestingly for me, I did not notice a single rose. I wonder why?
Thank you for your kind message! If I have to guess, it probably is because of the deers, and also roses probably need as much sun as possible, which is hard to provide in a woodland garden setting.
