      I'm watching at 144p but just looked like green thread algae... When you pull I out little pieces break off it and just propogates it and seeds it everywhere in the tank.
      Not too hard to maintain it but you will have to pick it out every week or two to keep it under control. Good luck getting rid of that without chemical treatment. Which I would recommend for it because it is very very easy to contaminate other tanks with it.

    So I see you kept mentioning how the algae balls sometimes start to spread like bad algae but I also noticed you squeezed the ball inside of your tank. I've always done the squeezing/rolling/cleaning outside of my tank and I've noticed that they loose super tiny pieces of algae hairs. Perhaps those tiny hairs are what is infecting your tank? I've never had that problem. Perhaps it's something to look into!

    I discovered by accident that if you tear a marimo apart and grow the filamentous form with lots of fertilizer, light, and flow, the algae grows extremely fast. I have also found a way to turn the algae back into the marimo ball form, but it's very odd. I wrapped it around my filter intake to make a natural pre-filter sponge, and a week later the ball started growing densely again. When I trimmed it during a water change, it looked even more like a marimo ball. Maybe you'd like to try some experiments with this yourself and make a ton of money selling giant marimo balls :P

    When you tie down or glue Marimo balls the side facing down will eventually turn brown and die off from lack of light.
    It works well for about a month before it becomes an issue. I would not suggest it for anyone thinking about it. Unless it's temporary for an aqascaping show or something.

But when thats on it stand in the full light. So is that bad? Because maby they can handle fake light but not real light, but if they don’t I’ll have to find a new spot. Great vid btw😊

    Totally off topic, I'm trying to cycle a 5gal tank for a betta. I noticed that the temperature has dropped from 78 to 76 after I put in a bigger heater that is pre set to be at 78. Is that ok for a betta? Or should I get a different heater? If so what heater should I get?? Thoughts??

    guys my axlotl has small gills then b4 is that a problem can someone help ?

    • @GirlTalksFish
      @GirlTalksFish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! Some people say gill length is a genetic trait. (For example, one woman said that she had four axolotls in the same tank and one had long gills, one had short gills, and two had medium-sized gills.) Other people say gill length can fluctuate based on how oxygenated the water is, how old the axolotl is, how good the water quality is, the temperature of the water, how strong the water flow is, etc. So... maybe play around with those parameters to see if anything changes and if not, you may just have a genetically shorter-gilled axie. Good luck! :)

    I will never ever put a marimo moss ball in any of my aquariums again! Warning: it will spread and infect your aquarium, I find pieces of it everywhere, attached to wood where I don't want it, it's a constant battle to try to get rid of it. Never again!

      Haha, I'm finding this to be more and more true as I read the comments. Thanks for the warning!
