- When i was a kid, heard a lot of talk on the playground and in the classroom about a show on cartoon network. Finally got my hands on a special game, that im sure all of us has a similar story to this one. And I decided to replay this game and see if it held up, and honestly, I didn't think it would have after games like Fighterz and Kakarot came out. Friendships were bonded over this series.

i can agree this is probably how most people experienced DBZs plot up to the Cell Games. Shame Budokai 2 or 3 dont have the fully animated cutscenes like this one does, yeah Budokai 3 had the visual novel aspect and it works as applying cutscenes from saiyan to buu would of probably been a bit much so i can see past it not having it. I will say that Budokai did do it right with having you play the story as that a story meanwhile Budokai 3 the stories were locked to a specific character which is good if you just wanted to play through the story as just that character.
I wish B3 would of had a SUPER STORY mode similar to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Heritage for the Future on PS1 having you play the through the story rather than a characters story of that story. I've rambled on for too long, take my like and i look forward to your next release
This game and Harukanaru Densetsu hold a very special place in my heart. Will always love Budokai 1 for retelling the story in video game form with some good ass music

This unlocked some core memories from my childhood. Thanks. First time experiancing it also, never knew they even made a gamecube version. Only thought there was a Ps2 version until tthe HD re release, which doesnt look nearly as good as the gamecube version.... what happened to that HD collection....

This game and Budokai 2 is how i experianced the entire plot of DBZ. The Buu saga wasnt that interesting due to the board game in Budokai 2 but this game? This was amazing.
Wish it did the buu saga but it being their first ps2 game im not surprised it ended at the Cell games. I wonder if thats why peoplethink the series should have ended at the Cell games. Was it because they experienced the buu saga like me?
Great video, brought up some great memories getting my ass handed to me by my older brother in many games, including this one.
Really hope the next Budokai stays true to the series.

You mean Tenkaichi 4? That's different from Budokai, which somewhat tried (and had some success) to be seen as a legitimate fighter.

TLDR: For a newer experience play Burst Limit or Kakarot
But to us whose first time experiencing DBZ was this game, so i don't think you should play it if it's your first time wanting to try DBZ but it's fun looking back if it was your first time all those years ago. This video ngl brought back a ton of memories.
Yeah that's my point lol, games a great nostalgia trip but there's better ways to experience the story and game play out there. If you really want to play Budokai tho i do recommend Game cube version.
nah id say play XenoVerse. WAY better than any of the Mortal Kombat Deception like fighting games on the PS2. Great for nostalgia but theres WAY better games than even Budokai 3 or Infinite World. Infinite World is just DLC basically.
