    Am i the only one who's now kinda small rooting for ding as well? Like, it cannot be more one-sided than this and everybody knows it and speaks openly about it. Ding winning it would be one hell of a comeback story.

      Slightly just because he's so nice of a guy, but more than that I want to see as many people as possible become world champion. Ding already climbed the mountain, so I don't feel bad if he doesn't get it again.

      I'll kind of root for Ding to come back. (i.e. if he comes back to his 2018-2019 form, not just for this championship, but he'll continue to dominate in the years after).
      If he just wins this match and then continues to struggle, if would be bad for chess, and I believe also bad for himself.
      So unless Ding can come back in all his glory (and wish him that, really), they I'll root for Gukesh in this match

      @apoorv219 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      actually I agree, i think he has mentioned in many interviews that he consciously makes sure to not discuss the opening ideas, prep etc. with other Indian counterparts as he feels they are going to clash among each other a lot and he doesn't want to give them any insight into his chess. Also pragg, guki, arjun, nihal are a part of waca(Westbridge anand chess academy) and all of them have shared ideas etc. among themselves except gukesh, he likes to maintain a distance between himself and his competitors. So he is friendly with them only outside of chess.

    It's important to recognize that chess is fundamentally a game of the mind, and maximizing brain power often requires sufficient time to think. Shorter time controls can sometimes introduce an element of luck, which doesn't truly reflect the depth and strategy that chess embodies.
    As for Gukesh, he has earned his place as the youngest World Chess Championship challenger through hard work and dedication, proving himself fair and square. If he wins the championship, he will undoubtedly be ready to face Magnus and demonstrate his capabilities.

    Text commentary in Tamil!! Wow! I had no idea - definitely going to reach the Chennai audience (Vishy’s territory) with that option!

    Ding was only in the challengers tournament because Karjakin was banned. So his victory always felt a bit circumstantial to me. If he defeats Gukesh it would be massive. On the other hand, if Gukesh wins, it would be historical.

      would be hell of an act, considering he's been at it for over a year. that would be really really funny, imagine he was faking the mental health issues, I wonder how people would react, would he get cancelled?
