Let's not bargain the title and the history of its champions by having a WC match too often. It used to be every 3 years, before the right to a revanche match was stopped. We have now find a nice rythm with a candidate tournament and the match the following year.

The 17th world champion, and only the second from Asia. Ding has written history. Nepo: only the 6th person to lose 2 world championship challenges, if I’m not mistaken. The others being Chigorin, Bogoljubov, Korchnoi, Karpov and Topalov (also Smyslov if one counts the 1948 tournament as a challenge) - all greats. So he had written chess history too.
+Henry Kaspa I was rooting for Nepo as this was his second world championship match and he seemed a nice guy. However, Nepo or not, deciding a Classical match with Rapid game tie-breaks is bullocks.
Genuine, unaltered emotions here. How many can do that in today's age, especially after winning big! Kudos on the win, and kudos for not at all faking any emotions👏🏻
Ding odd of winning this year WC unexpectedly low on how and where he started his road to the champion. Year ago many expected Ding wouldn't be able to compete in the candidate for a chance at the WC then somehow Ding manage to win 22 matches in 1 months just to qualify as a replacement for a Russian chess player that support Russia in the war on Ukraine. Somehow Ding managed to move up to win the 2nd place in the Candidate and got into WC after Magnus quit WC to play Pokers. After all of that Ding end up with the crown of WC champion. Ding resiliency printed his name into Chess immortal.

"It not enough to say I love you. You have to say I lurve you. Happy is like that love, it cannot fully describe how I feel at the moment, it transcends Happy" Ding Liren 2023 World Chess Champion.
I believe the reason Ding’s performance was so great was how much he was affected by Covid and the loneliness but also professional ‘isolation’ and uniqueness and then he meets Rapport which is probably the most brilliant coach/second he has ever worked with and it created an explosion of inspiration which made him reach his 2820-2850 performance potential. This was also increased as the match progressed it felt like Ding was becoming stronger from the intensive nature of the match where as Ian is a player who gets tired … In other words a 2800+ player who is deprived of communication will benefit more from suddenly meeting a genius like Rapport. I was rooting for Ian just cuz he was more emotional and I can identify with that but Ding is the better player. Well deserved
@mootooboo yeah lol, people really be making stuff up... I'm sure Rapport is a great friend and gives a lot of chess support, but people really be acting like he's the reason for all of Ding's success. 🤨
Richard, is that you? Rapport is a brilliant player, but he has no experience seconding at this level and you could tell Ding's theoretical preparation was not as deep or as broad as Nepo's. I love Ding and I was rooting for him the entire time, so I hope he hires a professional second (Rapport can't fill this role as in his own career he's de facto Ding's rival, and even if he wanted to, he's probably not the right person to whip Ding's opening repertoire into shape) who can help him defend his title in 2 years. Anyway, put some respect on Ding's name. Richard Rapport didn't take him over 2800 or inspire him to his 100-game unbeaten streak. You people are acting like Rapport the kingmaker took some patzer off the street and made him world champion, which is absurd. If he had that ability, he would have made himself the champion by now.
Ding, bless you. You were legendary in the game. You brought it back. Your so deserved of being the cheese championship master. x I bow to you.. you're a star ❤
I don't know why but i keep smiling when i strained to listen to his words... usually I would be uneasy but his spirit is just so beautiful and pure, it makes people love him. I got a sense he's away more likable and popular than Nepo.

Nepo won the candidates tournaments twice and that means a lot
Indeed.
who is Tapovalov? You mean Veselin Topalov? 😃
+Henry Kaspa I was rooting for Nepo as this was his second world championship match and he seemed a nice guy.
However, Nepo or not, deciding a Classical match with Rapid game tie-breaks is bullocks.
@Bugatti - indeed - my finger was stuttering… 😁
10:00 ‘The answer (to your question) is blowing in the wind’ - clever joke didn’t land
I dont get it ? My english is not good enaught.
ding chilling and winning and nailing what anything is coming in front of him , kudos legend , u will be remembered in the history books
Pure and true to his heart. What a man, what a world champ!
If he was one deviation more shy and emotional, he wouldnt leave his house.
So many interviews. Im impressed with Dings improvement in English and comfort in front of the camera.
"I think I did a good job" legendary
Ding shows what it means to overcome difficulties during these 3 weeks of mental and physical pressure.
“i think I did a good job” he ways happier than when he won the match !!! 😅😅😅
She's so glad to do this interview; I can tell she's a good person❤
Hehehe ding is so nervous, so conscious of the camera, he doesn't know to look at the interviewer, instead he stares straight into the camera for the most part lol
Great guy. Congratulations Ding. So humble and genuine and an absolute beast over the 64 squares.
Yes, Ding did well at the interview, and was allowed to answer in his own time! He looked relieved when the interview was over. He comes across as sincere, modest, and his devotion to chess, shines through! A great guy, will be a great World Champion, and will be a great ambassador for the promotion of Chess!
Crowd see your success not your struggles... Even if some DO, iTs still from a 3rd person perspective. Until you are in the shoes and went through all the hell and back... You can't feel the true sympathy and envy
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ much love to this bro!
This was also increased as the match progressed it felt like Ding was becoming stronger from the intensive nature of the match where as Ian is a player who gets tired …
In other words a 2800+ player who is deprived of communication will benefit more from suddenly meeting a genius like Rapport. I was rooting for Ian just cuz he was more emotional and I can identify with that but Ding is the better player. Well deserved
That's such a load of waffle hahahaha
Ding did not have a 2820-2850 performance in WC. It was like 2790 or something, be gained like 2 points or something only.
I felt they played sub-2700 or even much lower, but I did really enjoy ...b6 cb ab with both queens exposed
Ding, bless you. You were legendary in the game. You brought it back. Your so deserved of being the cheese championship master. x I bow to you.. you're a star ❤
Meant to say chess.. xx
He deserves being the cheese champion too
I don't know why but i keep smiling when i strained to listen to his words... usually I would be uneasy but his spirit is just so beautiful and pure, it makes people love him. I got a sense he's away more likable and popular than Nepo.
What a great person. Great example for young men (and even young women). Can’t wait for the next WCC. Till then, goodluck on your next games GM Ding.👑
Ding won this title for us. the ordinary people. the simple people. :D
I watched this at 1.5× speed so ding's speech is normal
Congratulations Ding on becoming the New World Chess Champion!!!!!!!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
What a true hero , best of luck
