    Those clips don’t need to be removed. You pop them back and they open up on the inside giving enough room for the ball to go into and then press and lock. On some dampers, one you remove the clip, it damages them to the point where the aren’t tight after locking. In your case, seems like there wasn’t any adverse affects from spreading the clip to get it back on.

    For future reference you only have to remove the clips for removal I have a silver 2021 2500 when I installed my tailgate damping strut both ends pushed right on mine doesn’t drop that easily it’s more dampened my strut must be more stiff and it’s been on there since July so about 3 months now and it’s the same as when I first installed it I also just recently added power folding mirrors and next will be the rocker panel sliders/steps I just bought off a 75th anniversary power wagon then 8.4 radio like yours and LED tail lights I’m like you a Tradesman guy and love these trucks also you can add the steering wheel buttons without changing your radio head but does require a steering wheel change about $550 with harness and buttons all new stuff anyways subscribed.

    • @gol10dr45
      @gol10dr45 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for that tip! I literally removed the tail light housing. Went under the truck and did as you said, and just pushed the bottom of the shock in place. Went up by the tail light and lowered the tailgate a bit, snapped the top of the shock in place. IT TOOK ME LONGER TO TYPE THIS than it did to actually do the work! AWESOME!

  • @DynoLiteX
    @DynoLiteX ปีที่แล้ว

    On this particular video, you can improve by purchasing a new remote with the remote start and tail gate opener buttons. Then use alpaobd to enable the two options on the truck. You’ll need the dealer to add the key fob because of the rolling code.

    I hate the racket Ram is doing on my 2018-2024 ABS hydraulic motor and controller $600 total. They say you can’t order the parts until 2025 if ever that is what I was told March 2023. It was sent back to R&D aka engineers but that was before UAW went on strike and the timeline has been pushed back. The service manager at 7 different locations said they are telling owners that they just need to trade the trucks in on a new truck. So you trade it in and then the dealership order the parts and fix the $600 problem. You trade in your truck for 35k and you only have 50k miles on your diesel truck then the dealership will fix it and sell it for 50k or more with a 8-9% interest rate on 750+ credit score and you get shafted on a new 80k loan with 8-9% interest rate and $850-1100 monthly payment for 72 months cause you can’t get your truck inspected with ABS trouble codes and a very annoying dig every single time you hit a bump! What really pisses me off is my monthly vehicle report as everything has a green check mark and nothing is wrong with my vehicle even though it has a ABS error trouble code in vehicle memo that has been active since 2023 March. If you click on SOS on mirror they have total access to your computer on vehicle and it tells them everything is okay or they can see the problem and are lying and saying I don’t see a problem with your truck. Anyone else have the same problem with ABS hydraulic motor failures???

    MAYBE the reason they moved the piston to the passenger side is because the factory kick-down rear bed assist step mounts on the driver's side underneath and behind the bumper. I added one of those later and you have to attach it up in that area. Maybe the step's mounting hardware or bolts would've interfered with the shock absorber.

    • @NickMango
      @NickMango  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s an interesting theory. I will have to look into that. So basically anyone with a bed utility group would have the mounting points on passenger. Thanks 👍

    In my opinion, why wouldn't they just go ahead and include this feature on all of their trucks? I mean seriously. Wouldn't it be easier to just install that as it's being built at the factory?? Great video nonetheless 👏

    Has anyone tried putting this on a Ram that _isn't_ a '19 - '22 ??? I have a '17 Ram 2500 that I'd love to throw this on! I like this specific strut because of how it ONLY stops the tailgate from slamming... all of the other struts seem to sloooooooooowly lower the tailgate and I don't want that.

    • @NickMango
      @NickMango  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t heard of anyone, but maybe take your taillights off and see what you find. No connections then it’s not possible. Let me know if you do it 👍

      @@NickMango -- after researching this a bit more (on some forums) it doesn't seem do-able on my specific year. Plus, I just found out about the "Gate King" -- and it doesn't work with the tailgate assist I would have to use 😞 (Dee Zee style -- with exposed strut).

    You don't have to remove the clip on the strut for install, only pull out on it for removal. For install, just line up the pivot point and push it on until it snaps into place.
