    This is my first ever video on this channel so please be kind. I was very nervous and yes i do get very repetitive with words. But I hope you guys liked this video where you can follow me in the day in my life as a NICU night shift nurse and what I do in a 12 hour shift. (This video was filmed in the span of 2 days so yes I’m wearing different scrubs lol). Hope you guys are being safe during this time of coronavirus/covid19, 😔

    God bless you for working nights! I did for 6 years. Been on day shift ever since. NICU nursing has changed a lot since I started as a new grad in 1981. We didn’t even have pulse ox monitors! I love the babies I care for & have loved my work as I near retirement.

      That awesome! I'm currently in an ADN program but it took me FOREVER to get here because I didn't inform myself and just relied on my counselor to guide me. So don't be like me. Understand exactly what classes you need, GPA, entrance exam, literally everything! Have a solid plan so you don't waste time. And once you're in nursing school give it your all from the beginning because you're only going through it once, so take full advantage! ☺️ GOODLUCK! 💕

    I was a NICU mommy with our little daughter for 40’days in 2020. Her NICU nurses were our only contact while we were in the unit (no other visitors because of covid). I couldn’t ever thank them enough for not only the medical support for our baby but the emotional support they gave us. You all are God’s hands at work on earth.

    I actually was born a premature baby,I was born like i think 5-6months early I was told I was at least 1pound or as my family and parents say I weighed like the size of a can of beans,and my brothers son (my nephew) was premature but he didn’t make it,and so to me this definitely hits home and means a lot to me I’m already interested in the field of nursing and I was interested in L&D nursing or PEDs nursing,but just found out what this was actually called,because this was honestly my reasoning of wanting to be a nurse in the first place,and working with infants and kids because I’ve been through that and it means a lot to me to see infants make it through and fight for there life. I see a lot of mothers who’ve been through it in the comments & irl and other people who are interested in this field,but me I feel very different about it because not only have I been through it and almost didn’t make it myself but the chance to even help a baby, a child the best way that I can,I just get a comfort from that,knowing that I did my best to support them,help them and I think people who are born premature are the strongest people on earth…tbh because they come out the womb a literal fighter ❤

    thank you so much for everything you do for these sweet angels! this Thursday my preemie (29 weekers) twins will be a year old! i am forever grateful for all that their NICU nurses did for them in the 40 days that they were there! having a preemie (or two in my case) that have to stay in the NICU is beyond scary but it really puts you at ease when the nurses love the babies and care for them like their own 🥰

    I'm an ICN nurse at a level 2 hospital in my area. During orientation I was chill but I'm off orientation for three weeks now and I'm finding myself more nervous than before. A lot of that nervousness is coming from me not feeling totally prepared because I don't know everything yet. I'm still learning as I go. Nursery nurses attend all deliveries at this hospital and during labor I get so anxious if the baby is in distress. Lord. It's a slow process but every shift I work I learn something new. What I find is hard for me now is the APGAR scoring at 1 & 5 mins & training my mind to be automatic in an emergency. Sometimes a baby's cry will sound weaker than others and the more deliveries I attend the easier it is to tell but I still second guess myself on the scoring and I need to be straight in what it is I'm seeing. As for emergencies it takes my mind a minute to process what's happening and a minute is too much time wasted 😩 I just want to be better!

    • @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff
      @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What you are feeling is very normal and the only way to get better is with time and more exposure. It took me at least 1 year to feel comfortable just handling my own patient assignments and so I totally understand the feeling of wanting to be better and know what you’re doing. But trust the process and continue to take every day as a learning opportunity. You got this 🙌🏼

    Love Ur video very formal thank u! I'm going to be a neonatal nurse as well have currently just got a place in college and will go onto uni to study child's nursing then specialise into neonatal nursing! Please can you do a video on your journey to becoming a NICU nurse, like did u go to uni? What A Levels you took? Were you a nurse before hand? This would be so helpful for those who want to do the job you do! That's only if you have time, u must be really busy. Your such an amazing person ♥️♥️

    Thank you for this video! It’s amazing! I’ve heard about different levels in the NICU, and I was just wondering if each level has a different pay. I’m also wondering if the NICU nurses can work at the different levels whenever they are needed, or if they typically stay at the same level. Thank you and I love your content! Keep it up!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

    • @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff
      @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Allison Postema nope different level just means different kinds of patients. Higher levels like level 3 and 4 tend to take on more sicker kids. And if you want more critical care then I would stick to the higher levels. Level 1-2 tend to be nursery type babies that are stable and feeder growers. Every hospital is assigned a level depending on the acuity and so if you want lower or higher levels then you need to go to a different hospital

    So I am 16 and I am so obsessed with being a neonatologist and the reason y I want to be one is because I love kids almost every kid I know was practically raised by me from. A baby to a toddler so that inspired me more and I know a lot about pregnancy so I think I am good for this career

How much experienced do I need before trying to transfer? The second question is what kind of diagnoses do you see? Thank you so much for any tips/advice!
