      That awesome! I'm currently in an ADN program but it took me FOREVER to get here because I didn't inform myself and just relied on my counselor to guide me. So don't be like me. Understand exactly what classes you need, GPA, entrance exam, literally everything! Have a solid plan so you don't waste time. And once you're in nursing school give it your all from the beginning because you're only going through it once, so take full advantage! ☺️ GOODLUCK! 💕

    I’m a senior in high school this year. I’m the oldest sibling in my family, so I’ve always taken care of the younger kids. I’ve wanted to be a NICU RN because of my love and passion for helping kids. Thank you for making this video, so much information and a good heads up for what to expect!

    I was a NICU mommy with our little daughter for 40’days in 2020. Her NICU nurses were our only contact while we were in the unit (no other visitors because of covid). I couldn’t ever thank them enough for not only the medical support for our baby but the emotional support they gave us. You all are God’s hands at work on earth.

    thank you so much for everything you do for these sweet angels! this Thursday my preemie (29 weekers) twins will be a year old! i am forever grateful for all that their NICU nurses did for them in the 40 days that they were there! having a preemie (or two in my case) that have to stay in the NICU is beyond scary but it really puts you at ease when the nurses love the babies and care for them like their own 🥰

    I actually was born a premature baby,I was born like i think 5-6months early I was told I was at least 1pound or as my family and parents say I weighed like the size of a can of beans,and my brothers son (my nephew) was premature but he didn’t make it,and so to me this definitely hits home and means a lot to me I’m already interested in the field of nursing and I was interested in L&D nursing or PEDs nursing,but just found out what this was actually called,because this was honestly my reasoning of wanting to be a nurse in the first place,and working with infants and kids because I’ve been through that and it means a lot to me to see infants make it through and fight for there life. I see a lot of mothers who’ve been through it in the comments & irl and other people who are interested in this field,but me I feel very different about it because not only have I been through it and almost didn’t make it myself but the chance to even help a baby, a child the best way that I can,I just get a comfort from that,knowing that I did my best to support them,help them and I think people who are born premature are the strongest people on earth…tbh because they come out the womb a literal fighter ❤

    • @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff
      @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nope. My hospital that I got the job at trained me specifically for my job position in the NICU. I went to a 4 month long orientation process that included a preceptor and bedside education, plus lecture classes every week. I can’t really tell you how long it took me to get comfortable since even now 4 years later, I always have tons of questions 🙈 but I think comfortable enough to handle my own patient assignments, I wanna say I was doing ok by 6 months-1 year of me working.

    I'm an ICN nurse at a level 2 hospital in my area. During orientation I was chill but I'm off orientation for three weeks now and I'm finding myself more nervous than before. A lot of that nervousness is coming from me not feeling totally prepared because I don't know everything yet. I'm still learning as I go. Nursery nurses attend all deliveries at this hospital and during labor I get so anxious if the baby is in distress. Lord. It's a slow process but every shift I work I learn something new. What I find is hard for me now is the APGAR scoring at 1 & 5 mins & training my mind to be automatic in an emergency. Sometimes a baby's cry will sound weaker than others and the more deliveries I attend the easier it is to tell but I still second guess myself on the scoring and I need to be straight in what it is I'm seeing. As for emergencies it takes my mind a minute to process what's happening and a minute is too much time wasted 😩 I just want to be better!

    • @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff
      @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What you are feeling is very normal and the only way to get better is with time and more exposure. It took me at least 1 year to feel comfortable just handling my own patient assignments and so I totally understand the feeling of wanting to be better and know what you’re doing. But trust the process and continue to take every day as a learning opportunity. You got this 🙌🏼

    Hello I’m a nurse from Hong Kong going to Toronto this month. Is it easy for me as an RN to start my career as a newborn nurse here? I’m having my RN license soon.

    I graduate with my RN degree in December this year, 2020. I have always wanted to care for babies but now that I’m here I am so torn between NICU and ER. How did you know you wanted NICU? I have never seen NICU and have seen ER. Your input would be appreciated!

    • @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff
      @TiffanyRNnicunursetiff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      NICU and ER are completely different! What I can say is that it really depends on the intensity you enjoy. ER is constantly busy and can get hectic. NICU has its moments. It can get intense but has its stable moments. ER you’ll never know what you’re going to get. You’re gonna get a variety of diagnosis and all sorts of ages. NICU is limited to just babies and the diagnosis you come across are all pretty similar. But you get pretty good at determining what signs and symptoms can possibly be. I love NICU specifically for the patient population and working with babies. Both units have room for growth and expansion so it’s really up to you what you prefer! Good luck to you 👍🏻

    Love Ur video very formal thank u! I'm going to be a neonatal nurse as well have currently just got a place in college and will go onto uni to study child's nursing then specialise into neonatal nursing! Please can you do a video on your journey to becoming a NICU nurse, like did u go to uni? What A Levels you took? Were you a nurse before hand? This would be so helpful for those who want to do the job you do! That's only if you have time, u must be really busy. Your such an amazing person ♥️♥️

    Thank you for sharing this. I just found your channel. I’m aspiring to become a NICU nurse. I was in physical therapy and changed my major over to nursing. Nursing seems to be my calling. While I was working at the hospital, I got to witness surgeries and feel in love. Now, it seems the NICU may be in my path.
    Love your content and how thorough you are.. I’m going to binge all the other videos! ♥️♥️♥️

    The prophet of Allah (God) made mandatory the practise of Taḥnīk (تَحْنِيكِ) for newborn babies, which is an Islamic ceremony of touching the lips of a newborn baby with honey, sweet juice or pressed dates. Originally the date was softened by mastication by the pious person and rubbed on the infant's palate.
    The taḥnīk also *exercises the muscles of the mouth* and helps with the *circulation of blood* in the mouth - this may help the baby to be able to suck and take mother's milk. It is also credited to prevent *neonatal hypoglycemia* in newborn babies.
    Now tell me. The western world has just acquired this knowledge. With all the gadgets and equipment and technology and professional knowledge, skills and team work - how did a man who neither knew how to read and write at the time of his prophethood, *know* such a thing? Among some many other miracles and prophecies of the future.
    There is no god except Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger.
    This is the truth.
    This is the truth.
    This is the truth.
