Incredibly inspiring! I was born pre-term at 25 weeks, weighing 1 pound. Thanks to NICU nurses like you I was able to thrive. Now I’m a Pediatric occupational therapist. With love from Canada 🇨🇦
Woah, ok this is REALLY a small world… I was also born at 25 weeks, I weighed 1 pound and 13 ounces, AND I was born in Illinois, but my parents lived in CANADA at the time I was born, so I had to be flown there in a learjet in an incubator when I was 2 weeks old!
From a NICU mama I appreciate your dedication along with all the other nurses!! I know it sucks not drinking or eating or having a chance to sit, but you put our babies fighting for their lives first and that means the world to me!
Congratulations on becoming a nurse!! I was born 2 months premature and everyone in the NICU was so amazing. I'm 19 now and healthy thanks to all they did. Thank you for everything you do, you're amazing!!
I love children and baby’s and really want to become a nicu nurse one day, because The thought of helping them and trying to establish a strong happy future for them with their family is so heart warming to me. The thought of having this job just lights me up and makes me feel really warm inside!
Just wanted to state the fact that I know this job isn’t always easy or joyful all the time and is serious and I would have lots of responsibilities. I love baby’s and helping them is just something that I’d love to do through all the ups and downs.
As a mom of a pre term son who was born 6 weeks early i say thank you for your hardworking and dedication. I was a first time mom and the NICU nurses were so kind and amazing. My son was 3.8lbs. He is now 25 yrs old and 6foot. Keep up the great work you make a difference blessings
You are the sweetest! I’m sure caring for such tiny and sick babies causes so much anxiety. Thank you nurses & doctors 💕 my 10yo. son is a nicu grad 🙏🏼
Even though we are not in the same state, it is the great NICU nurses like yourself that I am grateful for. I have a baby in the NICU who was born at 26 weeks in January 26, I wasn’t due until April. So seeing how caring and humble you are really makes me happy. I love seeing other nurses who really do love their job and truly care for the beautiful babies in the NICU . Thankyou for everything that you do ❤️
Omg I’ve wanted to be a NICU nurse since I was five because my sister was in the NICU and that just inspired me, but you inspired me even more and in the part where you were like if you didn’t understand the nurse stuff thanks for that because I learned some stuff.
this is super interesting. I am working on some NICU nurse items for my etsy store and have been looking to get some inspo from an actual NICU nurse. Your awesome, thank you for all that you do!
I was born at 26 weeks and stayed in the nicu for 10 weeks! Thank you to all NICU nurses! I’m now getting my BScN…hopefully I can one day work in the NICU for a full circle moment. (In the same hospital even!)
It's great hearing about your nursing path Leighton, it is really encouraging! It's incredible to see more motivating videos. Thank you for everything you do, nurses! 👏
I just subscribed, you sound so sweet, I'm gonna start my NICU moments on Monday! I like when you say " say a lil prayer before I'll start" I'll watch you sometime 🙂 Thankyou for sharing!
Such an inspiring video! I was born at 27 weeks weighing 1lb 11oz and in the hospital for 2 months. The nurses just like you helped me to successfully get to the point of going home happy and healthy 😊 I am now waiting to hear from the admissions committee to enter Nursing School. My goal is to be a pediatric nurse going into NICU. ♥️
You are living my dream. I am a student nurse about to commence my second year. I have always aspired to become a nicu nurse!! It’s really difficult to get placement blocks in this speciality of nursing😢
Hahaaaha the part when she mentioned using the concealer in the morning seeing how long she'll keep it up OMG that's so me early in the morning rushing early in the morning nurse hours are tough 😅 & the part about barely getting to drink during the day too accurate.
I love this!! If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I just turned 22 and have been considering nursing school but I feel like I have fell behind a little bit by being so undecided with what I want to do with my life. I know I definitely need to figure it out soon. Would you recommend this profession?
I am looking to start Nursing school to be a NICU Nurse . I’ve enrolled in classes but with work right now I can’t do those classes in person . How did you do it ? Do you have any advice? Also I love your videos ❤️
I was born two months early and weighed 3 pounds and went without oxygen for an extremely unhealthy amount bc they didn’t think anything was wrong and now I have CP, low muscle tone, semi paralysis in my left leg, I have a brain tumor and a few other physical disabilities. My dream is to work in the special education Field or become a pediatric physical therapist.
Hi! I talk about this some in my video titled, "How I Became a NICU Nurse as a New Grad/With No Experience!" If that doesn't answer your questions let me know 😊
Just a question for future sake. Is it illegal to post pictures of the hospital, I know we can't post pictures of pts info. Just wondering. Great vlog I'm a MRI tech traveler.
Thank you! No it is not illegal to post photos of a building. It’s illegal to share information that violates hipaa or has to do with a patient’s identity! 😊

i want to be a NICU nurse too! Just started my first semester of nursing school. tips on how to get a nicu nurse job after graduating? ive heard you have to do at least 6 months of med surg :(
Hey! I’m not in nicu, but I’m a new grad in peds. Med-surg is a specialty in itself and is great but isn’t for everyone and you certainly don’t “have” to start there. Everyone gets a lot of med surg in school typically, but it’s perfectly fine and encourage to apply in the area you’re passionate about! :)
Incredibly inspiring! I was born pre-term at 25 weeks, weighing 1 pound. Thanks to NICU nurses like you I was able to thrive. Now I’m a Pediatric occupational therapist. With love from Canada 🇨🇦
