Same, I must have dropped 70 hours into Judgment easy. Finally got around to playing Yakuza Kiwami last year, and it was great too. This has been preordered on my Series X since it was announced, so I'll be jumping in day one. Should keep me more than busy until Fatal Frame comes out next month.
I love how the Japanese are steadily capturing the "video game" feeling and completely bypass the interest of including realism into the subset scenes of gameplay and in-game scenes. It just simply feels like a video game.

Ever since Judgment, I've been a fan of Kimura as an actor and so far I've been getting into watching the TV Drama Kimura leads in: HERO. Where Kimura plays as an eccentric prosecutor Kohei Kuryuu that investigates small details of any case that many people tend to miss or take for granted by going to the scene of the crime and elsewhere to follow new leads and gather clues before making a decision to indict someone as he believes in reaching the truth for the victims. You really see the Yagami-ness the character which I imagine Kimura used when playing the role as Yagami as it's familiar territory.
Even though Kimura played in law drama, in HERO he was a prosecutor, but here, he plays as a lawyer. Kinda ironic when in HERO his character hate lawyers, yet he became one later xD
Takuya Kimura and Shun Oguri they both are that actor I remember I trying to be like them when I was a kid...the culture they make to the people like us from southeast asian it was something you will imagine...I remember in 2009 at that times everyone wanna be like them...fight in school, war between high school,fighting at restaurant,fighting with foreigner,fighting for justice,friend etc² everyday we fighting like a true yakuza it was good old days thanks to Takuya and Shun for bring this culture..I found my wife in hospital

There's not a lot of hype around the game, it's just my own personal hype, since I seen the reveal trailer. It just looks so beautiful, and the gameplay looks fun and engaging! Story sounds amazing too! I'm smart enough not to hype myself up to much either! I haven't been this excited about a title releasing, since RE8:Village (which I loved and 100% in like 3 days lol)...... Just hope it's amazing, cause a lot of the titles I was prepared for got pushed back/delayed. And there hasn't really been any great releases over the summer

I bought Lost Judgement after watching this and to this day it is hands down one of the best games I've ever played. It's more than a game, it's an experience. My only criticism is that the climbing/parkour felt like a bit of a wasted mechanic and was cool but could've been so much more.
Yakuza 6 : the song of life is the best yakuza game ever made in terms of storyline, fighting mechanics and emotions and kiryu is the best protagonist ever
Most definitely not even tho yakuza 6 is in my top 3 yakuza games, the combat felt stiff and slow, the substories mess up the flow of the story by forcing you to do them, the minigames aren't fun at all to do, the game is smaller then the rest and a lot of the content and soundtrack is missing. Yakuza 0 and 7 are most definitely better then 6 and 0 specifically is one of the best games ever made
Yakuza games are the games i enjoy the most. The wakey shiz, the serious shiz. The Art, the food but mostly the charachters. I love these games so much. I hope due to every new release they get more exposure. More ppl need to play this series🙈

Started playing Yakuza 0 back in April because you and Falcon mentioned the series so often in your videos. Lo and behold I binged the entire series back to back to back, and finally finished Like A Dragon two weeks ago. Honestly, Yakuza and Judgement have become my most favorite gaming franchises by a country mile, and I literally can't wait for Lost Judgement. Guess it's time to say thanks to gameranx for introducing me to these games.

3d streets of rage is a good take on it. I always imagined Yakuza as a 3d river city ransom, because punching dudes and eating at restaurants to heal felt the same.
This game looks solid! The first Judgement is on Free Play Days and I considered binging it, but squeezing a 27.5 hour game into a four days period is something only a much younger me could have pulled off. I haven’t played any Yakuza games, but I’m planning to hop in with Zero. Also, 5.27 was hilarious and awesome!
I was a Yakuza fan. I liked them all but the series felt like it ran its course. Then they released JUDGMENT and not only was everything fresh again, but better than ever. I loved Judgment, and when i heard they were making a sequel, i was super psyched. I was pretty sure they would do a superior job and im glad to hear they did. I cant wait to play Lost Judgment. If its at least as good as Judgment, the franchise will have become one of my favorite, ongoing game series. Thanks for the BYB!

No but I’ve read the only differences are some next gen graphical features and loading times. I played the Japanese demo and it played fine for me but I was playing on a pro. It’s same engine so I would imagine it should be as stable as previous entries.
@@captainnavi6546 Not the actor, but his talent agency Johnny & Associates. Basically SEGA wants to release more Judgment games and port them to PC too. J&A don't like that since they're afraid people will "ruin" Kimura's image with mods (even though people modded Judgment on the PS4 from the release lol), so now they're in a big dispute cause of that and J&A are thinking of pulling out Kimura from Judgment. So we're either getting Judgment on PC (and Lost Judgment) but that'll be the last of the series or they'll be more games but they'll never reach PC. Or they'll replace Kimura/Yagami with someone else OR (the least likely, but the best outcome) J&A stop being so stupid and let SEGA release their own games on whatever platform they wish.
I played Lost Judgement on regular PS 4 and the graphics and gameplay are very smooth and fantastic looking. Aittle jankie at times but nothing game breaking

The first Judgment was my introduction to Yakuza games and I've been totally hooked ever since, I'm playing Kiwami 2 right now and will for sure play all the main games. Incredible series made by interesting people, definitely underrated in my home country. I missed Yagami, can't wait for Lost Judgment!!

Absolutely loved Judgment, I might take my time when some of the DLCs are released to play Lost Judgment; if it's anything like the first game then you'll know that it's a very story driven game, felt like watching a long detective Jdrama.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio games are the only ones that I buy on premiere and I've been doing so since Yakuza 6. Amazing world, amazing characters, great story with goofy moment and tons of stuff to do. I also always recommend Yakuza 0 to everyone who's wondering what to play next :)
Huge Yakuza fan. Played every single yakuza game including the latest one like a dragon. I didnt buy lost judgement day one because I wanted to wait for a discount and ofcourse black friday is here so I got it for $30 instead of 60. Unlike most people who played japanese game, i enjoy playing with english dub if they have it. Believe it or not but Judgment and Like a dragon have great english dub. The english voice actors were great.
The writers are fantastic the story . .. at first I thought, how juvenile then as I got into it, I found a deeper meaning at it all clicked coming together with the first Judgement. Wow! I AM A GREAT FAN! BRAVO DEVELOPERS! I love the story I absolutely love the Characters and I am so glad you brought them all of them back to this "lost Judgement". It all clicks together so well Fantastic make these into Novels as I'm not a gamer, I'm a reader of books. HEE HEE!
Just finished this yesterday, honestly the golden child & masterpiece of RGG studio; they've used what they learned over the decade to develop this game This is also primarily made without supervision of their ex-producer before him leaving to NetEase so the future of the franchise is still bright when the studio are able to push out this even with minimal supervision by their former producer
I'm working on the first Judgment game currently and I'm excited to play the sequel. Can't wait to play it the game, the release date is just around the corner now.
It's so wild to me that most of the yakuza games are the same fucken thing and I never get tired of them. Like - ever. You go back to the same cities but they feel super lived in and like they grow and evolve just like going back to your childhood hometown, etc. And there's just so much to do. Yakuza 0 is a legit top 2-3 game the last decade and it just got me into the whole series - I just adore it.
The first game was lovely considering i lost a loved one to alzheimers. The game touched me on a moral level. The story was too beautiful Glad to know sega is using yakuza formula in more complex storylines
I just got this for free off the PS Store on my PS5 and started playing it a bit and was having fun. But I still wasn’t sure if this would be the game for me. So after a little while I had to watch the “Before You Buy” because you guys are the only game critic channel I actually 100% trust. Every game you guys have spoken about that I’ve wanted to play, you guys have constantly led me in the right direction. So yeah, now that I’m fully aware this game is a trustworthy one Im gonna keep playing. Also I never played the Yaluza games so I literally had no clue this was tied into that. Maybe this will get me into them some time in the future. But we shall see. Thanks guys.
I actually played both Judgement and Lost Judgement dubbed. I do subs for most Japanese content but RGG put in a lot of effort with the English VA that I think most native English speakers would enjoy. One of my pet peeves for dubs is terrible pronunciations of Japanese names but you don’t really get that here. I’m going to play the game again subbed but for those that are curious, don’t knock the dub until you try it!!
First I thought Lost Judgment is just an updated PS5 Version of the first one but now that I know it's a full blown sequel I'm totally hyped. I loved the first one and Yakuza in general

this game was really not my type, but something made curious about it and I ended up buying it last week, cause still I wanted to try something different. It's hard to turn the console off and go to sleep at night and that's something I hadn't experience in a while. It just hooks you up. I'm loving it
I really can't reccomend this series enough. Triple A western games are basically just story story, some side mission and then you're done. With Yakuza series, you're basically paying for a very deep long story that would take a completionist weeks to finish, NOT TO MENTION the side stories and other collectables mini games, it's insane. I would pay twice the price they put because this game is THAT worth it. Imagine playing the Witcher 3 with all of the DLC times two.
Hey there, quick question: I haven't played any of the Yakuza games before and this one caught my attention. Will it ruin my experience if I play it without prior knowledge of the previous games? Because to be honest I'm not really planning on investing in the other games of the series but at the same time I wanna know If it's good for newcomers.
That makes me want to have a game where it is solely based on the highschool, like you are a student and in the mystery club and have to solve a big case, instead of it being a part of another game.
There is a 16 bit Japanese game called the hard times of ringo Ishikawa you guys should check it out, it’s to definitely not as fleshed out as the yakuza series but it’s a fun game about a kid in school in Japan
I have played more than a few of the yakuza games but I have only played judgment all the way to completion. Not that those games are bad or anything but it was just something about this spinoff that clicked for me. I'm a few hours into this game and omg snake style and I'm not even mad at the skateboard.

Definitely one of my favorite, but to be honest I enjoy all the Yakuza games on the Dragon engine, Kiwami 2, 6 Like a dragon, and the 2 judgment games. I really like Yagami as a character, same goes for Kiryu and Ichi though, hard to pick which one is my favorite, they are all unique in their way.

My favorite Yakuza game is Yakuza 0. I am playing Judgment right now in anticipation of Lost Judgment and I am absolutely loving it. Really looking forward to playing Lost Judgment at some point soon.
I maybe late to this video comment. But for those wondering whether you should skip Judgment and straight to Lost Judgment. My advice is DON'T. i would HIGHLY encourage to play Judgment first then LJ Yes the video mentioned there are returning characters & it does clue you in, but it is more interesting and engaging to know more about the characters back in Judgment. Played Judgment back last year around Sept and currently playing LJ.

Completely agree. Also the fact that there is no rating scale number thrown at it is great too. His excitement while giving us the rundown is what spurs me to try the game. This is my most preferred channel for gaming reviews.
Love the yakuza series and loved the first judgment game. I fully expected the pacing would be slow at first, it seems like all the games are like that. But I gotta say, 10 hours in I really hate how slow this one is, the parkour is bad, the stealth is rigid, the endless instructions on everything is exhausting. The story is getting interesting but I wish it doesn’t make me go on so many random meaningless things to move the story forward. It feels a bit like doing chores instead of immersing myself in a good video game. I hope it gets better soon.
I just finished the first one. Oh my I was blown away by the story and combat animations. Japanese style sense of humor is hilarious. The most amazing thing about the game is that it can switch from suspenseful vibe hilarious comedy fest. I just wish there were more character customizations. I'm tired of yagami's outfit.

I don't really like those voiced scenes that YLAD introduced that look like a visual novel, except with realistic portraits, I'd rather just have cutscenes.
I tried playing Yakuza 0 and was intrigued by the story but struggled with the combat controls too much. Also loved the over the top story telling and cutscenes

This studio has the best writers. Every story is so deep and interesting. A lot of great plot twists and emotion. Good stuff

Each one stands out from previous titles, especially like a dragon. This is a recipe for success and they tweak just enough to make it fresh.

Yakuza games are the games i enjoy the most. The wakey shiz, the serious shiz. The Art, the food but mostly the charachters. I love these games so much. I hope due to every new release they get more exposure. More ppl need to play this series🙈

I only just recently started playing the first game and absolutely love it, didn’t know they were making a second and now it’s already out lmao. This game looks amazing in comparison to the first and that means a lot
Started playing Yakuza 0 back in April because you and Falcon mentioned the series so often in your videos. Lo and behold I binged the entire series back to back to back, and finally finished Like A Dragon two weeks ago. Honestly, Yakuza and Judgement have become my most favorite gaming franchises by a country mile, and I literally can't wait for Lost Judgement. Guess it's time to say thanks to gameranx for introducing me to these games.
Never been disappointed by this studio.
They took if it ain't broken don't fix it to heart.....so much that I'm burnt-out on this series.

3d streets of rage is a good take on it. I always imagined Yakuza as a 3d river city ransom, because punching dudes and eating at restaurants to heal felt the same.
This game looks solid! The first Judgement is on Free Play Days and I considered binging it, but squeezing a 27.5 hour game into a four days period is something only a much younger me could have pulled off. I haven’t played any Yakuza games, but I’m planning to hop in with Zero. Also, 5.27 was hilarious and awesome!
I was a Yakuza fan. I liked them all but the series felt like it ran its course. Then they released JUDGMENT and not only was everything fresh again, but better than ever. I loved Judgment, and when i heard they were making a sequel, i was super psyched. I was pretty sure they would do a superior job and im glad to hear they did.
I cant wait to play Lost Judgment. If its at least as good as Judgment, the franchise will have become one of my favorite, ongoing game series.

No but I’ve read the only differences are some next gen graphical features and loading times. I played the Japanese demo and it played fine for me but I was playing on a pro. It’s same engine so I would imagine it should be as stable as previous entries.
It might very well be last judgement. Sega had some issues with the MC actor.
@@captainnavi6546 Not the actor, but his talent agency Johnny & Associates. Basically SEGA wants to release more Judgment games and port them to PC too. J&A don't like that since they're afraid people will "ruin" Kimura's image with mods (even though people modded Judgment on the PS4 from the release lol), so now they're in a big dispute cause of that and J&A are thinking of pulling out Kimura from Judgment.
So we're either getting Judgment on PC (and Lost Judgment) but that'll be the last of the series or they'll be more games but they'll never reach PC.
Or they'll replace Kimura/Yagami with someone else OR (the least likely, but the best outcome) J&A stop being so stupid and let SEGA release their own games on whatever platform they wish.
Judgment is taking over Yakuza as the beat 'em up style series and Yakuza is staying JRPG presumably with Ichiban staying as lead.
I played Lost Judgement on regular PS 4 and the graphics and gameplay are very smooth and fantastic looking. Aittle jankie at times but nothing game breaking
Oh boy, I'm so excited for this. The first Judgment was my introduction to Yakuza games and I've been totally hooked ever since, I'm playing Kiwami 2 right now and will for sure play all the main games.
Incredible series made by interesting people, definitely underrated in my home country.
I missed Yagami, can't wait for Lost Judgment!!

Absolutely loved Judgment, I might take my time when some of the DLCs are released to play Lost Judgment; if it's anything like the first game then you'll know that it's a very story driven game, felt like watching a long detective Jdrama.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio games are the only ones that I buy on premiere and I've been doing so since Yakuza 6. Amazing world, amazing characters, great story with goofy moment and tons of stuff to do. I also always recommend Yakuza 0 to everyone who's wondering what to play next :)

Huge Yakuza fan. Played every single yakuza game including the latest one like a dragon. I didnt buy lost judgement day one because I wanted to wait for a discount and ofcourse black friday is here so I got it for $30 instead of 60. Unlike most people who played japanese game, i enjoy playing with english dub if they have it. Believe it or not but Judgment and Like a dragon have great english dub. The english voice actors were great.
The writers are fantastic the story . .. at first I thought, how juvenile then as I got into it, I found a deeper meaning at it all clicked coming together with the first Judgement. Wow! I AM A GREAT FAN! BRAVO DEVELOPERS!

Just finished this yesterday, honestly the golden child & masterpiece of RGG studio; they've used what they learned over the decade to develop this game
This is also primarily made without supervision of their ex-producer before him leaving to NetEase so the future of the franchise is still bright when the studio are able to push out this even with minimal supervision by their former producer

I'm working on the first Judgment game currently and I'm excited to play the sequel. Can't wait to play it the game, the release date is just around the corner now.
It's so wild to me that most of the yakuza games are the same fucken thing and I never get tired of them. Like - ever. You go back to the same cities but they feel super lived in and like they grow and evolve just like going back to your childhood hometown, etc. And there's just so much to do. Yakuza 0 is a legit top 2-3 game the last decade and it just got me into the whole series - I just adore it.
The first game was lovely considering i lost a loved one to alzheimers. The game touched me on a moral level. The story was too beautiful

I just got this for free off the PS Store on my PS5 and started playing it a bit and was having fun. But I still wasn’t sure if this would be the game for me. So after a little while I had to watch the “Before You Buy” because you guys are the only game critic channel I actually 100% trust. Every game you guys have spoken about that I’ve wanted to play, you guys have constantly led me in the right direction. So yeah, now that I’m fully aware this game is a trustworthy one Im gonna keep playing. Also I never played the Yaluza games so I literally had no clue this was tied into that. Maybe this will get me into them some time in the future. But we shall see. Thanks guys.

I actually played both Judgement and Lost Judgement dubbed. I do subs for most Japanese content but RGG put in a lot of effort with the English VA that I think most native English speakers would enjoy. One of my pet peeves for dubs is terrible pronunciations of Japanese names but you don’t really get that here.
I’m going to play the game again subbed but for those that are curious, don’t knock the dub until you try it!!
First I thought Lost Judgment is just an updated PS5 Version of the first one but now that I know it's a full blown sequel I'm totally hyped. I loved the first one and Yakuza in general

The first Judgement game is really good. Surprisingly good. I've played some of the Yakuza series but never completed one. I completed Judgement and was intrigued the whole time. I gotta play this new one
Was hooked ever since 2005 with the first Yakuza. Judgement and Yakuza Like a Dragon I adore as well. My fav games of all time!!! 16 yrs of pure enjoyment!

this game was really not my type, but something made curious about it and I ended up buying it last week, cause still I wanted to try something different. It's hard to turn the console off and go to sleep at night and that's something I hadn't experience in a while. It just hooks you up. I'm loving it

I really can't reccomend this series enough. Triple A western games are basically just story story, some side mission and then you're done. With Yakuza series, you're basically paying for a very deep long story that would take a completionist weeks to finish, NOT TO MENTION the side stories and other collectables mini games, it's insane. I would pay twice the price they put because this game is THAT worth it. Imagine playing the Witcher 3 with all of the DLC times two.

I haven't played any of the Yakuza games before and this one caught my attention.
Will it ruin my experience if I play it without prior knowledge of the previous games? Because to be honest I'm not really planning on investing in the other games of the series but at the same time I wanna know If it's good for newcomers.
That makes me want to have a game where it is solely based on the highschool, like you are a student and in the mystery club and have to solve a big case, instead of it being a part of another game.

There is a 16 bit Japanese game called the hard times of ringo Ishikawa you guys should check it out, it’s to definitely not as fleshed out as the yakuza series but it’s a fun game about a kid in school in Japan
I have played more than a few of the yakuza games but I have only played judgment all the way to completion. Not that those games are bad or anything but it was just something about this spinoff that clicked for me. I'm a few hours into this game and omg snake style and I'm not even mad at the skateboard.

Definitely one of my favorite, but to be honest I enjoy all the Yakuza games on the Dragon engine, Kiwami 2, 6 Like a dragon, and the 2 judgment games. I really like Yagami as a character, same goes for Kiryu and Ichi though, hard to pick which one is my favorite, they are all unique in their way.
So happy that I got into judgement so late so I can jump right into lost judgement after.

I played the original Judgement with English dub. I went back and forth but I really liked Taks English voice.

Love the yakuza series and loved the first judgment game. I fully expected the pacing would be slow at first, it seems like all the games are like that. But I gotta say, 10 hours in I really hate how slow this one is, the parkour is bad, the stealth is rigid, the endless instructions on everything is exhausting. The story is getting interesting but I wish it doesn’t make me go on so many random meaningless things to move the story forward. It feels a bit like doing chores instead of immersing myself in a good video game. I hope it gets better soon.

I just finished the first one. Oh my I was blown away by the story and combat animations. Japanese style sense of humor is hilarious. The most amazing thing about the game is that it can switch from suspenseful vibe hilarious comedy fest. I just wish there were more character customizations. I'm tired of yagami's outfit.
