One game I started playing a lot is Echoes of Plum Grove, one thing I like more about this game is characters actually age and there’s a sense of time progression. I hope we get a new company that makes a better life sim than the Sims 4. Since it seems we’ll never get a Sims 5.
10:19 oh my God, I’m so happy to see someone talking about the Harvest Moon series! The series is running under a new title called Story Of Seasons, because the dev Marvelous had issues with rights when Marvelous chose to move their localization division from Natsume Inc. to Xseed Games. Natsume then started developing their own games, but they are not good at all. And I’m so sad that what they did to the legacy. But if you wanna play the real harvest moon games they’re now called story of seasons.
Natsume retained the rights to the Harvest Moon name, and continued producing its own version of the games with Appci Corporation as a new developer. The Harvest Moon brand continued, but the formula that fans were familiar with was rebranded as Story of Seasons, which is now published by Xseed Games.
Yep, they put in a clips of Harvest Moon: Winds of Anthos, which isn’t a Harvest Moon/Story of Season game. I guess they didn’t look into things. People are still confused about the name changed, so putting in clips of a “fake” Harvest Moon game isn’t going to help.
Nintendo having so little competition all these years later is criminal. So much for the Free Market, if you're getting sued for being practically 0.01% equal to your competitor. Imagine CoD suing for anyone else using war as a concept
Stardew Valley is the GOAT of the genre for a reason. Barone is a mastermind and made huge amount of money without sacrificing his game and while improving it for free. All the props for him and all success in Haunted Chocolatier
I still don’t get how Palworld can still be considered similar (let alone a copycat) of Pokémon, they play so differently that they’re not even the same genre
it has creatures... and you do catch them, with balls.... and uhhh... i agree really, i can see a brief comparison, but honestly "you catch creatures" is about the end of the similarity, it's like seeing an airplane and saying it copied the car, they both have wheels (usually) and transport things, it's the exact same.. not really. pokemon isn't even close to the only game that has creatures you capture, and that even happens in real life, and has for pretty much ever.. maybe nintendo should sue anyone who has a horse, cow, donkey or any other animal, especially on a farm, double because then they are also copying animal crossing. maybe palworld should have used something closer to traps instead of pal balls, but not even close to a "copy" of pokemon.
I personally didn't have any issues with Pokemon Scarlett or Violet myself. And I actually found the glitches and stuff I saw others getting as funny. But that is just me.
I found Shadow of mordor exactly the same as Assassins creed. Too repetitive. Wouldnt call it fun. It suffered from all the things AC 1 suffered from. Just doing the same thing over and over again to progress the story and even the combat was repetitive. Hack slash and hit Y\Triangle when it pops up

The plural wouldn't be "metropolii" because it's not a Latin word. The most common plurals in English would be (in order) "metropolises", "metropoleis" or "metropoles".
I actually checked this, because it's similar to Octopus which is a Greek origin word like Metropolis, but according to a quick Google search (so dissertation levels of research) Metropolis, while Greek in origin, came to English through Latin so it's actually not that clear cut what the correct plurality is but I'd argue Metropolii is far from being the most correct.
Hey I want to help you out with your number 9 comparison Pokemon's Superior Copycats' are non other than : "Monster Sanctuary" and "Cassette Beasts" the former being a familiar taming game with various skill trees and a plethora of team building strategies that make combat deep and complex. The latter being a slick and stylish beast taming game where there are various quests to take on in a world teeming with fresh and cool monsters to fight with a wonderful soundtrack.
Not here to defend Pokemon, but Palworld shares much more with Arceus than Scarlet & Violet. I think Arceus is a great game! Trust me, I was excited for Palworld, I wish listed it 3 years ago and played Craftopia for 100 hours before Palworld's announcement
Scarlet and Violet aren't that bad. I'm not saying Palworld is bad either, because I haven't played it much myself, but saying that Scarlet and Violet are bad is just wrong. The technical state is bad, yes, and the game isn't perfect. However, the story is some of Pokemon's finest, the controls are amazing, the DLC is REALLY good, and the new Pokemon designs are fantastic. Oh, and before you bash me for having an opinion, let me just say that I don't give a shit. I played the game, so I have a right to an opinion. I wonder if you have. Edit: Also, if you hate these games so much, why on Earth do you follow WolfeyVGC, who genuinely likes these games and even does competitive tournaments on them? Sounds hypocritical to me.
@@lordmolag45000 The main problem is the value of a game like Ultra Sun/Moon which came out in 2017 is just so much greater than Sword/Shield or Scarlet/Violet. You could get every Pokemon up to that point in US/UM, like 807 different Pokemon. Now in Scarlet/Violet, I am pretty sure they're missing like 300 even with the DLC. So with Scarlet/Violet, compared to US/UM, we need to pay 2.5x the price for 70% of the Pokemon. I think that's the worst part for me. For a game series centered around "catching them all", we can't catch them all, even if we spend $100 and trade for many of them. Almost 300 are just straight up unavailable. I like it when the Pokemon games use a regional dex and then open up the national dex later, I think it's good to focus on a smaller dex for the story, but we should be able to catch them all imo without using a paid service like Pokemon Home. I have two 3DSs with Pokemon Bank, Pokemon Transporter, and every game Gen 1 - 7 so I am privileged in that regard, but not everyone is
@@lordmolag45000 People hate because "it's cool" and that's about it. I played Pal World enough to see they stole everything from Pokemon and Ark. The developer's not creative enough to come up with anything new.
Ironically, it's not. Probably the closest thing to a boldface lie in the video. First off - palworld did kinda rip off pokemon's designs. It's a copycat game of stuff like ark, or conan exiles. It LOOKS like 'pokemon with guns', PLAYS almost nothing like pokemon. Secondly, the thumbnail makes it look like palworld ripped off scarlet/violet specifically which, of course not. It's been in development before sword ans shield's gen.
Suggestion for a video: "Games who died but spiritually lived in other games" examples: Tenchu and Shinobido. Made by the same team but different series. Perfect dark/Goldeneye - Time Splitters and Titanfall - Apex Legends.

I believe this is subjective based on localisation, but I'll bite on a pointless fact. Edit: I just realized localisation and localization can both be used for this exact reason. Hmm, that was a fun coincidence.
I've never played Palworld, but gaming companies that attack consumer rights and choices by doing things like acquisitions and merging and creating more patents that are legally defensible are only going to harm customers and make franchises like Pokemon, Madden, NBA 2K, etc., more garbage.
Palworld is really just GTA mixed with Ark, with creatures thrown in. If you wanna see an actual Pokémon “copycat”, check out games like Coromon, EvoCreo, and Nexomon.
casette beasts and monster sanctuary, too. Implying palworld's a ripoff of scarlet/violet, when it plays like ark and started before sword and shield, just feels misguided as fuck.

Fun fact bout S/V pokemon, if u watch out of bound videos of pokemon, youll notice the field of view of mc loads the whole map. Which may be the reason why it has fps lost
To add to this, the field of few of the character is a cone, or a triangle if viewd from the top, normally in games, this FoV is around a hundred + meters, afterwords, barely anything js loaded in and/or things become very low polygones Well now imagine if that FoV had no actual limit, meaning the lenght of the triangle would just continuously grow, until it reach the end of the world. Thats what happens to pokemon, it loads EVERYTHING in sight, leaving low poly everywhere including buildings, rocks, some pokemon, etc
I'm thinking the lawsuit against Palworld is a "testing the waters" type of thing, because the settlement last I saw was like... a couple thousand. A very small amount for something like nintendo. If Nintendo wins that then they might gear up to go after other games, for example Genshin Impact, which HAS money worth suing for.
Even if you don't particularly like MKWii, the game was so loved that it still has an active player base for it through custom servers. It is widely regarded as one of the top entries in the series.

At a point in time, i felt like the Saints Row series was the only GTA copycat that could give GTA a run for it's money but once 4 dropped and the remake, it slowly went back to GTA still having no competitors.
4 was a good game imo, it did have all the satire and humour, ppl just trash it cuz of the superpowers (which were vv fun), but the reboot is a godforsaken mess that i do not want to talk about
@anirudhsaiganesh2896 4 was good, I didn't mind the super powers at all, it took til my second player through to realize that I needed to do all side quest with the crew to get the better ending and then I was like yeah, I like it and the remake, I tried to defend it for whatever dumb reason but it sucked.
Imagine an alternate timeline where Shin Megami Tensei sued Pokemon for copying "capture monster mechanics"... (I know the Palword situation is different but they act all high and mighty like they didn't get inspiration from somewhere else)
3:33 For this one, i don't think it's subjective in 2024. Comparing with Pokemon entries for the last 5 years, Palworld is so much better it can't even compare both

Mario Kart Wii was a disappointment?! I've never met someone that thought that!
Medal of honor allied assault was way better to me. It will always have a special place in my heart. 😢
Best Bird in da Biz!
The problem with city skylines traffic is that whether you build a 2 lane road or a 6 lane road it doesn't make a difference because the simulation only uses one lane at a time anyway
The thumbnail of this video is absolutely insane and I’m here for it
I know it's not a game but Oreo cookies are actually a copycat brand that stole the originals popularity by hiding their products and spending more on ad campaigns. It's pretty messed up.
HYDROX gang gang 🍪 🔥
but that's how capitalism works - almost nothing is totally original, and the market encourages sneaky-smart tactics to steal market share from leaders
I've never eaten, nor ever seen, Hydrox cookies. That I recall.
I've watched a couple of You Tube videos about the topic.
If I ever see them, I'm going to buy some because.....just because I guess.
@sidneyvandykeii3169 in all honesty: there's a reason Oreo surpassed them. HYDROX cookies are as bitter as they are sweet, and most people find the texture off-putting compared to Oreo. I recommend trying them just for kicks, just don't expect them to be great 😂

Anyone who has played Palworld will know it’s nothing likePokémon game. Literally the only similarity is some of the creature designs and that they can be captured in spheres.
Even the designs arent as similar as people think. Pokemon are based off animals as are Palworld monsters hence why there are similarities
@@seanbroccoli2698no it is, its not 100% the same of course, but we can say its 50% inspired. Some might lower and some might really close. They also have elements, thats what make palworld similar to a pokemon rather than digimon or other monster capturing game
Its a better pokemon game than pokemon with added stuff
I hate it that a lot of farming sim games are just referred to as Star dew valley clones.
One game I started playing a lot is Echoes of Plum Grove, one thing I like more about this game is characters actually age and there’s a sense of time progression. One of the reasons I loved the Sims Franchise is because the game can shift to other characters over time and each play through feels different.
I hope we get a new company that makes a better life sim than the Sims 4. Since it seems we’ll never get a Sims 5.
Supervillain laugh caught me off-guard xD
STILL no mention of Bug Fables? The game delivered the Paper Mario experience fans had craved for years, it deserves more recognition.
And it recently got a new update
Shadow Tactics is absolutely brilliant.
Medal of honor was a good game. I used to play it when I got introduced into COD. loved both games
What's even funnier is when the Alone In The Dark remake came out, people called it a a Resident Evil clone. Really a head scrather just hearing that.
Nintendo having so little competition all these years later is criminal. So much for the Free Market, if you're getting sued for being practically 0.01% equal to your competitor. Imagine CoD suing for anyone else using war as a concept
Thanks for another awesome video, Falcon! This is a great list!
I really love most Nintendo’s 1st party games but they act like a law firm that’s constantly bullying everyone.
Because Pokemon haters are blind, a better comparison to Palworld would be Ark, but that would be too fitting and gets in the way of their hateboner.
@@unversedhero6028 basically what i've been saying. It's an ark ripoff with pokemon ish creatures.
The main reason is from one phrase everyone heard.... amd is partly responsible for why palwolrd got so much attention. "Pokemon with guns"
I personally didn't have any issues with Pokemon Scarlett or Violet myself. And I actually found the glitches and stuff I saw others getting as funny. But that is just me.
It can't be overstated that Shadow of Mordor's most accurate review is "Like Assassin's Creed if Assassin's Creed was fun".
I found Shadow of mordor exactly the same as Assassins creed. Too repetitive. Wouldnt call it fun. It suffered from all the things AC 1 suffered from. Just doing the same thing over and over again to progress the story and even the combat was repetitive. Hack slash and hit Y\Triangle when it pops up
@@seanbroccoli2698 bumping up the difficulty a bit makes it much less repetitive in my experience.
Hey Falcon, I would love to see gameranx do a best fishing games that aren't actually fishing games video!
Basically a best fishing minigames video.
Thanks for the suggestion :)
Everyone always credits Killswitch for the cover mechanic but everyone always forgets Winback which came out years before Killswitch on the N64 and has the same cover system. I believe it was also ported to the PS2 as well.
I was about to say this, too
Syphon Filter on ps1 came out before winback and it's cover features was near perfect. You could even peak out and snipe enemies. Ps2 games weren't as good though
@@clarafedde8674
You know what your right Syphon Filter does have a cover mechanic too I completely forgot about this but they are only separated by a couple months so they both were likely in development around the same time
Indeeeeeed winback was there before killswitch .

Never played Pokémon before so I started a playthrough of fire red on the GBA. I totally understand the addiction now.
I don't understand why Ryu isn't racing in a forklift.....
Ryo, not ryu
It was his special ability.

Palworld barely counts as a copycat IMO... It's not turn-based, it's open world, it's a survival-building, and so on.
Hey I want to help you out with your number 9 comparison Pokemon's Superior Copycats' are non other than :
"Monster Sanctuary" and "Cassette Beasts" the former being a familiar taming game with various skill trees and a plethora of team building strategies that make combat deep and complex.
The latter being a slick and stylish beast taming game where there are various quests to take on in a world teeming with fresh and cool monsters to fight with a wonderful soundtrack.
As Pokemon Scarlet and Violets Biggest hater, I must say, that thumbnail _greatly_ pleases me
Not here to defend Pokemon, but Palworld shares much more with Arceus than Scarlet & Violet.

I truly enjoyed this video Falcon, Thank You
10:00 Cities skylines IS a traffic simulator. And IMHO it's pretty much unplayable without mods (so I really pity anyone who got it on console).
Gotta say... Great choice on the Thumbnail Gameranx 😂

Thanks for the suggestions! :D

casette beasts and monster sanctuary, too. Implying palworld's a ripoff of scarlet/violet, when it plays like ark and started before sword and shield, just feels misguided as fuck.

@@johnathanw3 Harvest Moon: Winds of Anthos. It’s not part of the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons series. The series had to change its name back in 2016. I feel it best to look up “How Harvest Moon became Story of Seasons”
Fun fact bout S/V pokemon, if u watch out of bound videos of pokemon, youll notice the field of view of mc loads the whole map. Which may be the reason why it has fps lost
To add to this, the field of few of the character is a cone, or a triangle if viewd from the top, normally in games, this FoV is around a hundred + meters, afterwords, barely anything js loaded in and/or things become very low polygones
Well now imagine if that FoV had no actual limit, meaning the lenght of the triangle would just continuously grow, until it reach the end of the world.
Thats what happens to pokemon, it loads EVERYTHING in sight, leaving low poly everywhere including buildings, rocks, some pokemon, etc
Bro. No matter how detailed it is. Slaping free unity accets into a map and adding base building mechanics always looks like shit
12:10 how was it one of the more disappointing ones, Mario kart Wii with one of the best selling and best Mario karts ever made!!!!
Even if you don't particularly like MKWii, the game was so loved that it still has an active player base for it through custom servers. It is widely regarded as one of the top entries in the series.
