His match? Not even close. If Zero didn't break down he would have shredded Megaman into oblivion. Nothing Rock did could damage zero or even push him back. Like in MM3 and 8, Rock was very lucky to escape with his life. Interestingly, over the course of the games Megaman became more and more dependant on his friends to help him. Slowly this indicated that Wily was becoming a bigger threat with each passing year, with Light having severely underestimated him.
@A B Unlikely even then. Plus, Wily invented the Gear system... so I can flip that situation around and say "but what if Zero ALSO had the Gear system". Zero's systems were on par with those of megaman X, who wouldn't see the light (pun intended) of day several decades later. And simple old Megaman wouldn't be able to take on X at all, much less Zero. Look, Im a big megaman fanboy, but there's a reason X and Zero both belong to the next generation of robots. Hell, both are SO advanced even in the future there's not even a proper classification for them.
@A B almost correct there; the Reploids are based purely on X's design. Zero, as far as we know, was never copied or replicated until somewhere late in the MMZ games. Zero is, up to that point, entirely unique and one-of-a-kind. This is probably due to him being found and activated during a time where Reploids were already a thing, so nobody questioned or read up on his actual design until it was discovered he was immune to the Sigma Virus.
@A B Did you take into consideration that Zero has a supercomputer for an AI that is able to calculate angles, powers, percentage chances of hitting and being hit by targets etc etc? Wily is aware of Megaman's ability to somewhat copy enemy powers, and he himself was the one who warned Megaman about the risks using both busters would have. There is no way he would have overlooked Megaman's most devastating attack and not programmed that into Zero's AI. The moment Rockman has 2 busters out, Zero would know to dodge, and thats even assuming it would damage him. In this fight, regardless of Zero being finished or not, he displayed Agility far beyond that of rockman and greater defenses. On top of that, he never actually goes on the offensive either; he simply halts megaman from getting to the door. And the only reason he fails there is because something goes wrong in his systems (Zero virus?). Megaman would never be able to stop Zero with any of the weapons we know of. If his Double Buster would damage zero, he would have one, maybe two shots. One would put him at risk, two would most definitely kill him. Without certainty it would kill Zero. I mean, I enjoy this conversation and the theoretical "what if?" situation, but we dont have enough information on early zero and late megaman to make a fair comparisson :/
Here's the thing about the Quint theory. It's never been said that Quint's time period remains as the actual future. Let me put it this way, if Mega Man fought Quint then he would've remembered what Wily's plan was in the future and been able to stop it. It's most likely that Quint's time period is now part of an alternate future timeline and the actual future and fate of Mega Man remains a mystery right now.
The canonicity of Rockman & Forte 2 is debatable. Besides, Shadow Mega Man was another robot entirely, who came from Quint's timeline and was designed to be like Mega Man. He was not a future incarnation of Mega Man himself. Anyway, who knows what really happened to Rock? He may be sitting in a stasis pod somewhere in X's time, waiting to be rediscovered. We know that Zero didn't do him in; Inafune himself told us so. Perhaps another enemy felled Mega Man, or perhaps something else entirely.
Well sure, but he's been in development of Zero since MM8 at the very least, at least that's the first time that he's even been hinted at, and probably earlier than that. Him not having a prototype would be ludicrous. It was a perfect way to introduce him into the series. Not even needing a health bar, average movement being faster than your dash, immune to your attacks.
I actually panicked when i realized what that tube was when ya went in the room. I was like OH SHIT I USED ALL MY E TANKS!! O____O i used every weapon too, i litterally panicked! @___@
Yeah, I looked into that and realized Quint is the reason Megaman can no longer exist, at least not as a hero. Though I gotta wonder just how things would have turned out had Megaman lived up to the era of X's events.
Dude! In the offical sources (including the japanese ones) there is no single word of X being created as a counter to Zero. It is actually more the other way around. Zero was originally created for world domination and to ultimately prove that Wily was the greatest genius, but the focus from world domination was shifted to X as Wily got wind from Dr. Light's masterpiece and that he was simple too old to rule the world.
No he means the song is a tribute to X VS Zero theme from X5/X6. Kinda like how Proto Man's boss theme was based on his whistle theme and how Bass was based on his theme.
I think it wanted to emphasize how much more powerful zero is to mega man. which will lead to dr.light to create mega man x to counter such power. plus I think if he had a life bar and took damage, people would assume there would be a way to beat him.
And the first thing you do when you get to this boss is try EVERYTHING to hurt him. Me, I also tried jumping on him... Got uppercutted to the ceiling but it was worth it. XD
If only Rock had the Mega Arm upgrade installed back then... Or used the Super Adapter... In any case, this boss shouldn't be so hopeless to battle. I atleast want a stalemate, where the Boss and Rock have both at the end 1HP.
It wouldn't make sense then how Zero beats X about 200+ years in the future (MM Zero, officially Copy X IS as powerful as the real X) if X is supposed to be superior to Megaman in every way, and grows more and more powerful overtime. If Megaman and Zero were to fight to a stalemate it would only mean that Zero is inferior to X if he can barely beat the inferior model. The fact that the fight is hopeless while Zero is unfinished is what drives the point home that Zero is in a completely different league than Megaman. You can think of it as Megaman's utter defeat is what inspires Dr. Light to build X. In the event that Dr. Wily finishes this nightmare and unleashes him, there'd be nothing Megaman could do to stop this thing.
Elysian Fire keep in mind the zero here is clearly shown to be a prototype and there's up to 100 years between the classic and x series so wily could easily upgrade him over that time.
@@ElysiumAM They meant in the context of the fangame itself. Obviously Zero straight from X Era would outright destroy Mega Man since, like you said, Zero is on par with his successor, Mega Man X. But a very very early Zero who's still in testing stages (even before he got finished and put into the capsule where Sigma found him years later), barely has any armor and has literally no abilities except punching? Yeah, it's not farfetched to think Mega Man can beat a very early Zero. Even if they made it so that Mega Man beat Zero here, it could still make sense by having Wily upgrade and perfect him afterward so that he then becomes completely superior and ready by the time he's sealed and found during X Era.
men wen i was in that battle i was like what is that capsule what is that robot wait a moment NO THIS CANT BE... then that incompleted zero popped up from the capsule then when he started to reflect all the attacks i was like NO YOU ARE NOT THE ZERO THAT I KNOW GET OUT OF MY WAY YOU GOD OF DESTRUCTION
I think it was imitating the Vile fight at the beginning of Mega Man X. Although he shouldn't have deflected everything, he should have been able to take damage but be unkillable.
I'm glad Wily decided that Zero's hair was important enough to finish before his arm cannon
Now that i think about it...

Can you imagine the Megaman series ending on this note?
For it to begin Megaman X, but i know that Capcom wouldn't have the guts to do it.
That became a starring contest.
Zero's silent nod to you when you stop fighting.
I actually don't mind the fight being unwinnable but that idea sounds really good. It would be a fair compromise for everyone.
This song woulda been like 10 times better if they threw a Cannonball reference in there too
Imagine an alternative ending where Mega Man never attacks and Zero turns on Wily.
AKA "You Are Fucked" The Musical
I actually panicked when i realized what that tube was when ya went in the room. I was like OH SHIT I USED ALL MY E TANKS!! O____O
i used every weapon too, i litterally panicked! @___@
Yeah, I looked into that and realized Quint is the reason Megaman can no longer exist, at least not as a hero.
Though I gotta wonder just how things would have turned out had Megaman lived up to the era of X's events.
Suddenly a reminder that Zero was created by Dr. Wily.
0:39 HAVE YOU EVER TRIED CUTTING SOMETHING INTO ZERO PIECES? LET ME SAVE YOU THE TROUBLE, YOU CAN'T!!!
Keeevvviiinnn, this is your greatest song to date.
Trinitro Man Stage
Cinko420 *in my opinion.
Next game story for Mega Man 12
Trinitro Man is cool, once you figure out the best way to fight him and try to stay in the middle.
This music is pretty damn sweet and fitting.
But this battle and the entire ending is utter trite.
Dang.
Now that's a boss theme.
Men, this track gives me the feeling of frustration
"You're fucked" The Musical
And it was at this moment... This very moment, where Mega Man made the transition from 8-BIT to 16-BIT
I thought that was when he first captured Wily.
Except this game isn't official and the encounter is not canon.
Aw man, I uploaded this theme too, since this track is originally yours, I may take my video down, great job, by the way!
Omg, its amazing!
Oh no im fighting a nokia
You trying to defeat your older brother/sister in any stuff theme ~
Dat 8 bit X vs Zero remix.
Zero: I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to dis-arm you?
Rock: But I don't want to hurt yo-
Zero: *Slices off Rock's arm cannon*
Rock: 0_0
LEGENDARY
Is that a little bit of Doom I hear around 0:50?
It's not just you.
I think it wanted to emphasize how much more powerful zero is to mega man. which will lead to dr.light to create mega man x to counter such power. plus I think if he had a life bar and took damage, people would assume there would be a way to beat him.
I think he should have had a life bar but with absolutely no way for it to go down.
And the first thing you do when you get to this boss is try EVERYTHING to hurt him. Me, I also tried jumping on him... Got uppercutted to the ceiling but it was worth it. XD
when you divide by zero
I want to mod my calculator so when you divide by zero it plays this.
"THE FIRST VICTIM OF THE ROBOT APOCALYPSE SAYS WHAT!?"
Mega Man X5 just casually passing by...
That's idiotic as fuck. Zero went into a stalemate with X, who is better than megaman in every single way.
I don't hear the X2 theme. I can hear the X, X3 and (obviously) the X5 theme. Help?
This is what I wish any future Mega Man classic game will have at one point as a secret or a hint at the future X games. Also hoping for an X9
0.75 speed for X5
men wen i was in that battle i was like what is that capsule what is that robot wait a moment NO THIS CANT BE... then that incompleted zero popped up from the capsule then when he started to reflect all the attacks i was like NO YOU ARE NOT THE ZERO THAT I KNOW GET OUT OF MY WAY YOU GOD OF DESTRUCTION
Also X1 as well. The bass line goes from the X1 theme, then to the X3 theme before going into the X5 theme
0:16 - 0:18 mmx3 zero theme right?
Holy shit. I hadn't noticed.
.75x speed kinda sounds a little bit like BN but also having the SNES Zero theme hidden within😎👌🏻
The few (4) seconds at the very start remind me of some other Megaman theme but which one is it? Can anyone help please?
X vs. Zero from MMX5
Zero didn't had effects cuz he used his best weapons..fans who cheered him up, MvC3 moves (i think), and most important him beeing a badass :D
I loooooove the remix of X vs. Zero!
I think it was imitating the Vile fight at the beginning of Mega Man X. Although he shouldn't have deflected everything, he should have been able to take damage but be unkillable.
I think this would fit Nightmare Zero in Mega Man X6.
yeah the "bass" is from x1, but that segment sounds from x3 i think
