    I really like all of your design's for your switching power supplies but, I wish you could explain the construction of the transformer better. Wire diameter, number of turns and so on. It would really help me a lot because that is what is holding me back from building them. Thank You

    Problems:
    1 - Wrong output rectifier
    2 - Can work only with 110V
    3 - No EMI filter
    4 - No Y capacitor between primary and secondary.
    5 - No output inductor, so high noise.
    6 - No ferrite beads.

      I think what was really intended at the output is that there were two secondary windings connected together at one end, each with its own rectifier diode. That can work if the phasing is correct. You certainly can't use a centre-tapped winding.
      You don't necessarily need an additional LC filter after the main filter capacitor, but it is helpful in controlling noise.
      Certainly to meet conducted EMI requirements you'd need an input filter and the primary to secondary Y1 cap.
      Ferrite beads aren't commonly used in such a circuit but can be helpful sometimes. They can make things worse, sometimes.

      There is feedback derived from the auxiliary winding. Such an arrangement usually results in rather mediocre performance but it can be acceptable for some applications.

    The windings of the transformer should all be clockwise or anticlockwise or the aux or secondary should be opposite to the primary. Plz guide

      I didnt understand the aux winding circuit. Main supply via resistor and auz winding both providing power to vcc. So wouldnt they interfare with each other?. How this system working

      It works by detecting the voltage across the source resistor of the MOSFET. This voltage increases as the load in the secondary side of the power supply increases (Ohm's law). When this voltage passes over the threshold voltage of this I.C (I think 1 Volt) the overcurrent protection within the I.C blocks the output pulses driving the MOSFET and the process stops.

    Hello, what is the difference between ferrites with Gap and those without Gap?
    and those with Gap can replace those without Gap?

      This is a flyback converter. If you use a ferrite core for this amount of power the core absolutely MUST be gapped. This is because the thing that looks like a transformer isn't actually used as a transformer at all. It is an inductor in which energy from the input side is stored during part of the switching cycle with one winding and delivered to the output during another part of the cycle through a different winding. Gapping a ferrite core greatly increases its ability to store energy.

      Per his video and per his comment section - it is a Flyback SMPS. Who said this was a Push-Pull Output? He clearly shows that BOTH Diodes are conducting the same time, not alternating. What if the DOT Notation is ... DOT at the top of Secondary #1 and DOT at the bottom of Secondary #2 then the output coils operate in parallel, NOT Push-Pull ?

      I don't understand yet why a center tapped output secondary, if FB only releases energy on half a cycle max, Even in the case they are paralleled there is no need for one of those two diodes ,...Am I missing anything?

      @@raymondmichael4987 There is already a feedback in the circuit. It consists of R3 and R4. It detects the level of the auxiliary winding, which in turn reflects the secondaty voltage level detection and keeps it stable. Without this voltage divider this circuit would explode at once!

      Feedback consists of R3 and R4. Without those resistors, secondary voltage will be over 23V.
      A feedback pin voltage is divided from auxiliary winding. Feedback is not using secondary winding.
      If you want more precise output voltage, please use TL431 and optocoupler for feedback.

      R3 & R4 make the voltage divider for the output voltage. But, you must not exceed Max Voltage at Vcc Pin 7 !

    This is a classic flyback topology. As such, the secondary of the transformer circuit is wrong. It belongs to the push - pull topology. Flyback needs only a single diode, while there is no need for center tap of the secondary. There is no polarity reversal of the output voltage in the secondary.

      vto rsi Starting backwards in reference to your answer, your reference about the non existing dots cannot justify your (otherwise right) claim about paralleled secondaries. Moreover, paralleling is not drawn this way in schematics. Therefore, by the first sight, this secondary stage is usually found in push-pull (bi-phase) outputs. Apart from that any topology is characterized by its primary side and the secondary side fits the primary. Finally I have never seen a fly back topology with such a secondary. Your “what if” scenario doesn’t save the case. It’s only a hypothetic scenario.

      You can change the duty cycle, controling the voltage on VFA (pin2) in certain range. But you want to high range, it is depend of you chopper transformer too.

    Sir plz help me iam in trouble i need to testing uc3842 but sometime 5V generate on pin 8 or sometime 0V and I need to produce 20khz frequency signal at O/P pin but according formula 1.8/Rt*Ct no accurate frequency generate. I apply 16V vcc and 0.001uf cap or 10k registor for Rt/Ct pin and get 165khz frequency at output I wait ur reply or any other one who can understand my problem

      This is caused by a UVLO protection of UC3842. Please use UC3843.

      Yes, there is !!! The regulation is implemented using ... a) An Inner Current Loop and b) An Outer Voltage Loop ... You need to research Current-Mode PWM IC's ...

      This schematic can work also for 220V, because of the feedback system, but feedback resistors have a wrong values.

      @@katarzynan.8500you are wrong. I have tested this circuit it destroyed because of startup resistors value 56k 2w in case of 110v , for 220v it's value is 220k because 3843 require 1ma current. Don't mislead people's. You have not tested this circuit practically. It's my challenge to you if you can run this circuit on 220v without changing resistor values. If you try with 220v it will burned.

      There is feedback but it is done by using the auxiliary winding, working on the assumption that the voltage from that winding tracks the main output winding. The accuracy of voltage regulation won't be very good but it can be acceptable for some applications.
      Some modern ICs, typically fully integrated with the control circuit and power switch in the same IC, are designed to use that sort of arrangement for feedback, but the design is such that some of the shortcomings are minimized.

      With 320 VAC input and the turns ratio of the inductor you'd get about 600 volts across the FET when it turned off, ignoring the leakage inductance spike. You might not need a 990 V part but you'd want something rated at over 600 volts.

    R3 should be 1.5k.
    R4 should be 12k.
    D1, D2, and D3 should be a UF4007.
    or
    Auxiliary winding should have 4.1 of a turn.
    D1, D2, and D3 should be a UF4007.
