    Excellent tutorial. Very helpful. I have been playing with the test circuit for a better understanding. I want to make a DC capacitive discharge ignition system and would like to use this chip to charge the capacitor to fire the coil and spark plug.
    I'm struggling a little bit with the compensation but hopefully I can understand it more soon.

      It is a great idea to change capacitor in CDI,
      I think you have to pick the timing signal to synchronize it
      I think you should generate pulse using NE555 in monostable vibrator or triggered flip-flop

      Because in CDI system, the output pulse is a timing signal with coupled timing mechanical motion. As the RPM increase the output pulse frequency of CDI will increase relatively

      I am trying this circuit. I made my own transformer but the output on pin 6 of the UC3843 is not a clean pulse. I tried different RT/CT and got slightly better result. What do you think of the circuit?

      When I look at the RT/CT network on that schematic. I think it is wrong. If I am correct their choice of R and C gives over 778kHz. The UC3843 does not support this frequency. Maybe they should have 470pF capacitor for 77kHz. What do you think?

    Today I tried to repair a VCR "Daewoo V-737" with SMPS without any output voltage. 330 V DC is OK. It is a flyback design with one NPN-Power-Transistor and one smaller NPN-Transistor. All semiconductors and resistors are OK. It seems the oszillator it will not start to swing, but I don't know why. Could you please explain such a design and give some hints about possible failures? It would be a great help for me.

      نعم أخي عندما نختار قيم مكثف CT والمقاوم RT. ثم سيكون تردده بقيمة ثابتة. للحصول على تنظيم لجهد الخرج ، سيغير هذا ic عرض النبض (تشغيل الوقت مقابل وقت إيقاف التشغيل). لذلك تسمى هذه الوظيفة باسم تعديل عرض النبض (PWM)

    Sir thanks for sharing nice information of Smps, mere pass Jo smps Hai uski stand by voltage 5 volt mil rahi Hai but , ps - on 3.8 volt battery Raha Hai, vaha se ek resister ke throu ic ko ja Raha Hai, but ic ko 4.9 volt aa Raha Hai, resister on board value barabar Bata Raha Hai pls bayta yeye Kay karnar hoga, and questions ye Hai ke , aapne Jo o/p ke liye Jo three resister ka ckt Bata ya Hai ussse appne ko yahi pata chalega ki , primary swhiching ok Hai Kay nahi , am I right? Or yisse ye pata chal sakta Hai Kay? ki 3.3v ya 12v or 5 v o/p Mai problem Hai?

    Salam M. Haseeb, thank you for the video to make me better understand how 3843 works. In a working ATX PSU, this IC has no power at VCC pin when on, i need to ground the green wire to see 14v at pin7. How can I know without multimeter that this IC is swithing ? thank you.

      @@HaseebElectronics Sorry i wanted to say how to check switching without an OScilloscope, i have only multimeter. In my ATX, i have in the primary only one IC, the 3843, i believe it is doing all the switching

    Hi, i have no output, the frequency at pin 6 is between 6 and 10 Khz. Your diode technique at the opto coupler doesn't give any output. I checked the RT/CT, it is 2.47 K Ohm and 1Nf smd capacitor. Any idea where to look at ? thanks.
