    Hi. In today's video I'll show you how to make a variable and regulated Switch Mode Power Supply based on the TL494 PWM IC. The output can be smoothly adjusted from about 2 to 35Volts while the current can be set from 3 to 20 Amperes with ease. Its built on a Half-Bridge Topology, and the feasible power is 750Watt.     You don't need LM358. You can use internal TL494 opamps for CC and CV. I did and it works.

    Very interesting project. 2 points 2b noted here. Music is 2intrusive, so reduces the clarity of your narrative. You spk2 fast in an unfamiliar dialect making it very taxing 2 understand what your saying. Other than that it was very good. Thank you very much. I hope to build this one of these days....

    Hello i make my own tl494 based on atx power supply but i have problem the duty cycle is 60% not 45% from pin 8 and 11 ?? Why duty 60% not 45% !!!

    HOw can current limit of 0 - 20 A be achieved by using an SCR on DTC Pin? As soon as over current is sensed, power supply will totally shut down and need restart for resuming.

    hei can i used this scematic but just change the main transformer with CT output for audio.. like a +75vdc 0 -75vdc just change winding secondary?

    I think this is just Theory that works only in simulation. Did U actually made this SPMS, and is it working? Where are the snubber elements (diodes, capacitors, resistors) on power parts?

    I would say very interesting as a project, would it be possible to use a 50v DC source to do the same job? Maybe changing the project.

      50V may not work that well with a Half Bridge. The voltage is kind of low, it will greatly reduce the power but can work to some extent.

    Where do you get your +12V for the TL494 and also power supply to the LM358?

      According to the schematic, there must be a separate power supply, which comes in to J1 (12~16VDC)

    Please verify your circuit. Current limit can not be achieved using SCR. Please confirm.

    Can we use bridge rectifier at the output because bridge is more accurate!

      No, Because bridge rectifier if used for low frequency ac
      For output we use ultrafast diodes such as MBR family,
      Sometimes these ultrafast diodes can lose their speed so they don't pass the power
      You can identify this issues only with oscilloscope
      Or if you get 0.01v something like that
      And all the main components are good such
      As the voltage at ic power and voltage on the big capacitor ( 300v dc )
      And the transistor or MOSFET is good
      Then just replace the diode at the output

      It's better that way. You can use dedicated high and low side IC drivers instead.

      You can use a low wattage step down iron transformer psu, or use a bleeder resistor startup circuit with a relay delay turn off and then use an auxiliary winding to power the oscillator once the circuit has began switching.

    you still use a transformer to power for tl494. Not good .

      Its a gate drive transformer. Its very good for isolation and switching Mosfets on a Half bridge or full bridge topology in many switch mode power supplies.

      @@thanho6654 for that you will need an additional 15V DC power supply. You can find a cheap dc-dc psu for that.
